Innovative digital career opportunities - Seite 4
Mr. Malterer, many students wish for internationality in their studies. What do you offer your students in terms of the networked world?
In the age of Covid-19, internationalization is certainly facing new challenges. However, the international orientation of a university is more important than ever. The current situation shows us very clearly that the challenges of the future can only be solved together. Exchange is a prerequisite for excellence in research, design and innovation. By default, every study programme at MD.H has a mobility window of one semester, during which the student can spend an internship abroad or a semester at a partner university as well as through the ERASMUS programme. However, MD.H tries to see internationalisation not only as a single aspect or limited activity, but as a comprehensive continuous process with many international partners. MD.H offers annual exchanges and activities with partners in China, USA and Latin America. These include projects, competitions and conferences, such as the "Conference and Expo - Wonderful World", which MD.H co-founded in 2016 and which has been joined by universities from more than 20 countries since 2016, bringing together participating student groups from 5 continents in Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur last year.

Maren Müller-Bierbaum: The trend is more and
more towards "practice before theory". How do the lectures at the MD.H Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences (UAS) differ from the lectures at other universities?
Compact project phases with and without cooperation partners, starting in the lower semesters, characterise every course of study at MD.H and are a key to the
professional success of the graduates and their ability to work in a team. In the projects they are challenged with time and project management, the examination of their team members as well as the
development of realistic project goals, the completion within a defined period of time and possibly with customer requirements and criticism from customers. They are also trained in idea
development and presentation skills. In addition, project phases also offer a playground for innovation and research topics or the commitment to cultural, socially relevant or contemporary
institutions and activities, such as the creation of an interactive dance theatre, the support of a museum exhibition or the development of a communication campaign and the implementation of a
smart mob for the "White Ring" as well as, of course, countless games, gamification projects, medical research projects, partly also in cooperation with other universities such as the LMU, and
digitally generated film sequences. Many employers attest MD.H students and graduates a particularly high project quality. Project pitches, targeted team compositions, supervision by the professors
and compact project phases ensure that projects are also completed. Numerous awards for young talents, such as the Type Directors Club New York, the German Computer Game Award or the German
Developer Award, document the long and successful project tradition at MD.H. Even outside the project phases, teaching is a combination of theory and practice with many practice phases and
presentations.
