CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Jun 2, 2016) -  Cobra Electronics, a Cedar Electronics company and the leading designer and marketer of award-winning automotive, mobile and consumer electronics products, today announced the general availability of the Drive HD™ Dual Channel Dash Cam System. This is the newest addition to Cobra's award-winning Drive HD™ series, offering an extra set of eyes via the camera's ability to simultaneously capture the road ahead and behind in crystal clear HD video.

The CDR 895 D is fully featured and very easy to use. Its innovative flexible mounting system allows for discreet installation of the rear camera on the front windshield looking in or on the rear windshield facing out. The camera's unique ability to record both front and rear-facing video offers double the protection for everyday drivers. With its front and rear protection, or its ability to record a backseat passenger, Cobra's newest dash cam model is ideal for ridesharing drivers for providers like Lyft, Uber and Chariot for Women, as well as taxi drivers.

The model sports a two-inch LCD screen, ultra-wide viewing angles capturing a front view of 160° and a rear view of 130° and includes a 16 GB MicroSD memory card. It also features continuous-loop recording and a G-Sensor, triggering the unit to automatically and permanently protect video clips if an impact is detected. The unit includes a vehicle power adapter and a suction cup windshield mount for use directly out of the box.

Additional features of the CDR 895 D include:

    • Parking Mode - Provides visual event recording while a vehicle is parked. If motion is detected or the G-Sensor is triggered, the camera will automatically wake-up and start recording

    • Snap Shot - Ability to snap a still photo at any time during a video, perfect for posting or event evidence

    • Action Cam Mode - Switches to action cam mode, disabling the G-sensor and loop recording feature to free the camera from the confines of a windshield

    • Quick-Release Mount - Sliding mount allows for quick setup or teardown on any mount that uses a standard tripod mount screw

"Accidents and misfortune on the road can happen from the front of the vehicle as well as the rear, and in the case of ridesharing and taxi drivers, the bad guy could be sitting in your back seat," said Sally Washlow, CEO of Cedar Electronics. "We continue to expand our award-winning Drive HD lineup because our world and our need for protection is ever-changing, and we are committed to meeting those needs head-on and delivering the peace-of-mind our customers have come to expect from us."

The CDR 895 D is available now at Cobra.com for a retail price of 229.95. Also available online is a full line of Drive HD dash cam accessories including mounts, hard wire kits, and more for permanent or custom install applications.
