Nokia next generation fiber technology delivers high capacity, low latency mobile transport solution for 5G era - Seite 2
Federico Guillen, president of Nokia Fixed Networks said: "The biggest opportunity on the horizon for fixed networks is the arrival of 5G. It's clear that 5G will require very high capacity and low delay, but what is less certain is just how much capacity will be required for backhaul and what latency will be sufficient. We take the guesswork out of the equation. Our solution allows operators to access existing PON networks that have virtually unlimited capacity to meet their needs today, with the added flexibility to add 10G PON evolutions gradually as demand for more bandwidth and services increases. The massive throughput and cell densification strategy of 5G make it a perfect match for existing FTTH deployments."
Rupert Wood, Research Director at Analysys Mason said: "Fiber networks and next-generation access technologies such as XGS and TWDM-PON are uniquely positioned to address the evolving mobile transport needs in the era of 5G. By leveraging FTTH networks that are already in place, and vendor technologies such as Nokia's mobile transport solution, mobile operators can quickly gain access to the capacity, scale and flexibility needed to support 'anyhaul' applications."
Did you know:
- In urban areas, 5G radio deployments will use cm Wave & mm Wave spectrum with 150 to 300 radio sites per km².
- Comparable urban FTTH networks are 10x denser, can support up to 3,000 connections per km² and have by design the headroom to connect these additional radio sites.
