Bis vor kurzem noch völlig unbekannt, haben in Kanada und USA Kurs und Volumen des indonesischen Gold/Kupferexplores Southern Arc in den vergangenen Tagen merklich angezogen. Minenlegende Bob Moriarty glaubt, hier auf ein schlafendes Dornröschen gestoßen zu sein, dem er einzig vorwirft, daß ihre bisherige PR-Arbeit inklusive verzettelter Webseite schnellstens geändert werde müsse. Nun im April haben sie mit einem größeren Bohrprogramm begonnen. Southern Arc, für die Moriarty bis vor einigen Tagen eine MK von nur 16 Millionen $ angibt, wird in Deutschland noch fast umsatzlos gehandelt. Bei $0.70 werden Warrants fällig, die verfallen würden, wenn der Kurs 10 Tage darüber steht. Beobachten...

Let me give you an idea of what they have in their hands. On their home page, they say, "Southern Arc's intention is to advance properties that hold the potential of becoming one million ounce gold resources." Ho, ho, ho and a bottle of rum. Here's the real story.

Newmont originally owned the property I went to visit on Lombok Island. Newmont put about $16 million dollars into exploration during the 1990s into what Southern Arc now calls West Lombok. Let's compare West Lombok where I visited to a Newmont mine now in production that Newmont was also working on during the 1990s.

Newmont was developing Batu Hijau as the same time as they were advancing West Lombok in the mid-1990s. It would probably cost $30 million in today's dollars to get the same level of work Newmont completed on West Lombok. So basically Southern Arc picked up $30 million dollars worth of exploration for the cost of putting it into their database. If the project is worth mining, the 2% cost is pennies and if it isn't worth mining, it cost them nothing.

I think I must be the only investor who has actually looked at the data. While there are half a dozen named areas of interest in the West Lombok project, one stands out like an elephant standing in the Jell-O. That's the Selodong gold-rich porphyry copper system. In mid-April, Southern Arc reported initiating a major drill program.

I cubed the hole. That's a theoretical cube. If you drill 366.2 meters, pretend it is a cube. To determine the total tonnage of that hole, multiply 366.2 times 366.2 times 366.2 and figure a rock density of 2.5 so multiply by 2.5 and then times 31 for value. I come up with a number of $2.9 billion dollars for the one hole. And folks, that makes Southern Arc undervalued by a mile.

Batu Hijau is a gold-rich porphyry copper system. That's the ideal today; they are giant systems, rich in gold and copper and can be mined cheaply.

I think Southern Arc is sitting on one at Selodong, the numbers already show a giant system. Consider that one property Batu Hijau Junior. With all the data available, it's nearly impossible to realize that one good drill hole has the potential to be a company-making hole.

You can ask yourself, why did Newmont give up the property and the answer is simple. Batu Hijau has a cash cost of $.53 for copper and about $150 for gold. In 2000 with $.65 copper and $252 gold, even Batu Hijau didn't look all that hot. But with $3.62 copper and $691 gold, Southern Arc is literally sitting on a gold mine.

If the gold/copper ore which we could see as we drove all over the property actually joints up beneath the surface, Southern Arc has a giant porphyry on their hands and the market will reflect it. Their April 10th press release gave the answer. They have started drilling.

I have participated in a Private Placement in the company. And we have bought a major position in the company paying up to $.48 a share. The stock closed at $.35 on Friday and it's going to be a cold day in hell before you find a bargain like that again.

I love the company, I love the management. I love the price of the stock and I love 600-meter drill holes. On the other hand, the website needs work. I am about as biased as you can get. I can only hope they get some other newsletter writers down to see the projects; it's a story well worth telling.

Southern Arc Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SA) is pleased to announce the granting of a new exploration license (Kuasa Pertambangan, "KP") to the company, through its locally-controlled Indonesian entity, over part of West Sumbawa Island (Figure 1), West Nusa Tenggara Province. The Sabalong KP area (9,950 ha) was previously explored by Newmont (1986 to 1992) and Rio Tinto Zinc (1993 to 1998) under fourth and sixth generation Contracts of Work. The KP license issued by the Sumbawa regency is valid for twelve months and can be extended for a further 12 months as part of the General Survey conditions of the license.

Previous exploration in the KP area by Newmont reported Au-Ag anomalous drainages from four contiguous catchment areas. Subsequent follow-up ground traverses identified extensive hydrothermal alteration of intermediate pyroclastics and intrusive rocks, hosting high-sulfidation epithermal quartz veins.

Southern Arc veröffentlicht das Ergebnis ihrer ersten Cu/Au- Bohrung - vielleicht ein wenig sehr früh nach nur einem Bohrloch, aber es wird nun wohl in kurzen Abständen so weitergehen:

Southern Arc Minerals wishes to clarify the encouraging results from its first drill hole, MB001, completed within the Selodong Intrusive Complex (SIC).

Hole MB001 was completed to a total depth of 476.0 metres. With the exception of the first 33.8 metres, which was not mineralized, there was continuous mineralization to the bottom of the hole. This resulted in a 442.2 metre intersection averaging 0.28% Cu and 0.42 g/t Au (from 33.8 to 476.0 metres).

Hole MB001 included a 105.0 metre intersection averaging 0.60% Cu and 1.04 g/t Au (from 33.8 to 138.80 metres).

Extensions of this high-grade phase are being targeted in the ongoing drilling program by Southern Arc. Hole MD002, currently in progress, is expected to be completed within the next 8 to 10 days, with assay results anticipated to be announced later this month.

Southern Arc berichtigt das heute veröffentlichte Ergebnis der ersten Bohrung nach oben - und was geschieht? Der Kurs steigt in Kanada um 35%. Und das nach nur einem Bohrloch!! Hier wird aber noch fleißig geschlafen, aber wie lange noch?

Southern Arc steigt inzwischen parabolisch an - eine Kerze kann man das schon kaum mehr nennen. Wird sehr interesant, ob und wann das Teil merklich zurückkommen wird und eine Kaufgelegenheit bietet. Ich dachte eigentlich schon heute, damit ich da nicht länger an der Seitenlinie stehe und mich nur aufs Beobachten und Kommentieren beschränken muß.
Und wenn es keine heftige Korrektur gibt nach fast 100% Anstieg in kürzester Zeit, ist klar, was sich hier abzeichnet, nämlich ein riesiges Kupfervorkommen in Asien, das bislang kaum jemand auf dem Radar hatte. Dann kann man auch auf höherem Kurs rein, wenn das nächste Bohrergebnis über 600m ähnlich wie das erste ausfallen wird.

+ 96% im deutschen Handel heute! So etwas habe ich schon lange nicht mehr gesehen. Über 3 Millionen Aktien in Kanada gehandelt - als ich anfing, den Wert zu beobachten, waren es gerade mal 150. 000 im Schnitt bei $ 0.45.
Das Teil ist doch so wahnsinning überkauft im Moment, das muss doch jetzt einmal herunterkommen. Und wenn nicht?

heute morgen stand das ding bereits bei 0,47 bei uns nach dem rasanten anstieg in can. dachte auch daran eine kleine posi aufzubauen.. und jetzt innerhalb eines tages auf 0,97 und (noch) kaum umsatz bei uns.

wärst du mal seit deinem ersten posing mit ner posi dabei gewesen..

Lombok gold, copper prospects better than ever, says miner

CANADIAN miner Southern Arc Minerals has commenced diamond drilling on one of its south Lombok prospects, a major step towards developing a major mine in the area.

The company announced this and other advances at prospects in Sumbawa in statements from its Vancouver headquarters in late April and early May.

Preliminary geologic mapping and sampling at Southern Arc's Mencanggah prospect, in the Sekotong peninsula, found five areas worth further exploration.

Mencanggah is at the centre of a 13-km long mineral corridor also containing the Pelangan gold prospect and the Selodong copper-gold prospect.

The company says all five targets selected for further detailed exploration “exhibit significant mineralisation”.

Mencanggah “represents a significantly large, highly prospective, and under-explored area”, the company says.

Southern Arc has several exploration projects on six properties in the so-called Sunda-Banda area, which includes Lombok and Sumbawa.

It has told investors it has been focusing on this area because since 1997 there has been little activity and now, with changes in the economy, legislation and improved governance, the ability to access, explore and develop mining properties in Indonesia is exceptional.

“Management believes it to be a unique window of opportunity,” it said in a statement released on April 30. Southern Arc is the first Canadian junior mining company to have raised funds (IPO - $C2 million and, subsequently, $C1.4 million in January 2006, $C3.03 million in March 2006, and $C2.1 million in April 2007) and to be focusing on Indonesia since the exodus of miners after the 1997 economic crisis. It says its corporate strategy is to continue to develop strong relations with the local, regional and national levels of government, NGOs and local communities and to develop “significant symbiotic relationships” with large mining companies such as Newmont Corporation.

Southern Arc in der Warteschleife. In 12 Tagen werden die Bohregebnisse aus dem zweiten Bohrloch von vorerst 6 geplanten Bohrungen bekanntgegeben. Wenn die positiv ausfallen, wird ohne Zweifel ein weiterer Kaufrausch einsetzen.
Und wenn nicht?
No risk no fun. Ich hab mich jetzt endlich zu einer Anfangsposition aufgerafft, u.a. auch weil ich noch keinen Metallwert aus Asien halte und hier generell gute langfristige Chancen sehe.

Die Ergebnisse vom 2. Bohrloch sind nun da und liegen auf der Linie des ersten, das den ersten Anstieg von Southern Arc eingeleitet hatte. So wie es aussieht, setzt sich die Reise nach oben fort. In Kanada werden täglich ca. 500.000 Anteile gehandelt, in D etwa 500. Mit so einem Wert fühle ich mich wohl.

The Montong Botek porphyry forms part of the Selodong Intrusive Complex (SIC), which is situated at the southeast end of a 13 km long, northwest trending structural corridor of mineralization and alteration along which also lie the Pelangan Gold Prospect and the Mencanggah Epithermal/Porphyry District, all within SA's Lombok Property.

Drill hole MB002 was completed at a total depth of 518.0 m. Following the first 18.1 metres, which was not mineralized, drilling intersected:-

384.65 m at 0.30% Cu and 0.40 g/t Au from 18.1 to 402.75 m (including 117.2 m at 0.56% Cu and 0.80 g/t Au from 118.7 to 235.90 m)

Southern Arc kommt mit neuen Bohrergebnissen, die etwa so ausfallen wie die bisherigen - keine spektakulären Grade, aber eben sehr tief - und das mineralisierte Gebiet ist riesig.
Nachteilig bleibt weiterhin, daß sie ca. 1,5 Millionen C$ ihrer ohnehin knappen Cashreserven bei der aufgrund der Kredtikrise pleitegefährdeten kanadischen Coventree Inc. in kurzfristige Anleihen (asset backed securities) geparkt hatten und an dieses Geld wohl für einige Zeit - wenn überhaupt - nicht herankommen werden.
