      Top-Tipp spekulativ!

      Silicon Image WKN 925795

SILICON IMAGE TECHNOLOGY DESIGNED DIRECTLY ONTO LCD PANEL BY LG.PHILIPS LCD

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 30, 2004 — Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, today announced a key design win with LG.Philips LCD Co. Ltd. The world`s leading supplier of large transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCDs) has incorporated the new SiI™ 1257™ Intelligent Panel Controller (IPC) into a breakthrough 20-inch wide aspect ratio panel. The SiI 1257 IPC supports Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS®)-the basis for the popular Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard connecting PC hosts and digital display devices-directly on the LCD panel, enabling monitor manufacturers to lower their cost of components while realizing the highest image quality associated with pure-digital LCD monitor architectures.

The SiI 1257 IPC combines a Digital Visual Interface (DVI) receiver with a timing controller, replacing two discrete parts. In addition, incorporating DVI functionality directly on the panel itself eliminates the need for extra conversions and image processing typically supported in analog legacy monitors. As a result, a number of extraneous monitor controller functions required to support legacy analog hosts, such as ADCs, scalers and customized firmware, can also be eliminated-further lowering the cost of components and simplifying design and manufacturing.

Paul Lee, VP of monitor development at LG.Philips LCD, stated, "Pure-digital LCD monitors are the standard architecture for some customers` LCD displays, and a TMDS-based panel is an ideal solution for cost-optimized, pure-digital LCD monitors. Silicon Image is a long-standing supplier, and we are impressed with their proven high-quality, cost-effective IPC solutions."

Joseph Lee, Silicon Image product marketing manager for digital PC/display products, noted, "Not only is TMDS technology proliferating as an external monitor interface via DVI, but it is also increasingly being used in internal monitor applications. We`re seeing growing customer interest in TMDS-based LCD panels due to their superior performance to LVDS and their role in enabling cost-minimized, digitally perfect LCD monitors. As the leading supplier of TMDS-based IPCs, Silicon Image is in a unique position to benefit from this growing market trend. TMDS is also an excellent alternative to LVDS for the internal display interface, and the SiI 1257 addresses the industry need for a universal digital LCD interface capable of supporting both internal and external monitor applications-eliminating the need for supporting multiple interface technologies."

TMDS panels offer superior performance compared to LVDS, particularly at high-bandwidth resolutions. For instance, at SXGA and UXGA resolutions, two channels of LVDS must be implemented, whereas TMDS can operate with a single-link interface. Not only does this simplify design, but it also translates to fewer wires, smaller connectors and lower-cost cables. When coupled with TMDS`s robust support for long cable lengths and the ability to design panels of varying resolutions with a single TMDS connector, TMDS is a natural solution for the internal display interface as well.

The SiI 1257 IPC is based on Silicon Image`s latest-generation DVI receiver core found in the company`s discrete SiI 1000 series receivers. This core supports the full single-link DVI bandwidth of 165 MHz for consistent performance on displays up to UXGA resolution. In addition, this core incorporates an innovative, scalable Phase Lock Loop (PLL) architecture that enables interoperability with a broader range of DVI transmitters as well as unprecedented, robust performance over long cable lengths.

According to the Texas-based market research firm DisplaySearch, LG.Philips LCD maintained its position as the number-one OEM supplier of large-area thin film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCDs) for the fifth quarter in a row and was the world`s biggest OEM supplier of large-area TFT-LCDs in 2003 with a market share of 21.2 percent* by units.

Can HDMI boost the TV market?

      By Terry Relph-Knight [24-03-2004]

In most developed countries the colour television market is long past the first adopter stage, so television manufacturers are looking to new technologies - such as high definition TV, digital pictures, home cinema and surround sound - as incentives for consumers to buy new televisions.
High definition multimedia interface, or HDMI, is one of an emerging group of standards that provide higher performance, easier use and added features to help make purchasing a new TV a more attractive proposition.

Rather than taking a completely fresh approach, HDMI builds on the standards and techniques that have emerged over the past 10 years, so to understand HDMI it is helpful to review the recent history of the display interface.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF VIDEO CONNECTIONS
Early video interfaces In the early days of video recorders the only video output connection to the TV was through the coaxial aerial socket. Then in 1980 the French introduced the Scart (Syndicat des Constructeurs d`Appareils Radiorecepteurs et Televiseurs) connector.

This was apparently an attempt to limit the sales of imported televisions, because it was illegal to sell a television without a Scart connector, in France but Scart rapidly became a European standard.

      The VGA bodge
Since the birth of the home computer, first nineand then 15-pin sub-miniature `D`-type connectors, now commonly referred to as VGA connectors, have been used as the standard analogue video signal connector for PCs.

However, these connectors were never designed for use with video signals - they were simply industry standard connectors that were relatively cheap and could fit on the end bracket of a video card.

A number of methods for identifying the capabilities of the connected display have been added to the basic VGA connection as part of the general plug and play strategy.

In 1994, DDC (display data channel) was introduced to allow VGA connected displays to send up to 128 bytes of identification data. This was replaced in 1999 by the more capable E-DDC (extended display data channel).

DDC set the standards for EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) and EEDID, which is supported by HDMI.

      The first DVI standard
In 1999 digital video interface (DVI) was introduced as the standard interface for the new flat panel displays and was designed for use with computers.

While DVI sought to replace the elderly VGA analogue video standard with a cleaner digital connection, it was hampered by the need to provide backwards compatibility through support for analogue video signals.

If LCD and other flat screen technologies had been able to take over the display market four to five years ago, DVI would probably now be the default video interface.

As it is, the ancient analogue, CRT based technology refuses to die, because it can still provide quality displays at substantially lower prices than LCD. VGA and its extended variants, although pushed well past their original technical limits, have survived with it.

DVI and HDCP The high-definition (HDTV) market has now taken up DVI.

In 2001 Silicon Image announced a system that provided high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP), a co-development by Intel and Silicon Image. HDCP encrypts the video output, so that a display with decoding technology is required to view the video.

The Silicon Image PanelLink series of digital video interface chips use this system, with DVI providing the physical connection.

      Interface chip design
The key to higher bandwidth interfaces is the design and availability of cheap driver and receiver chips, so it is interface chip technology that sets the pace of interface design.

Transmitting high-definition digital video and surround sound or multi-track digital audio across several metres of cable requires high performance drive and receiver chips.

Although now adopted as an industry standard, HDMI was developed by Silicon Image, the same company that was responsible for DVI.

Silicon Image licenses the HDMI technology to other chip manufacturers as well as manufacturing its own line of PanelLink Cinema chips for HDMI applications.

Convenience for the consumer and protection for media giants
More than just a video interface, HDMI combines uncompressed high-definition video and multi-channel audio in a single digital interface with a bandwidth of up to 5Gbps.

HDMI also capitalises on the interoperability standards created by the Consumer Electronics Association and supports many of the capabilities of the AV.link interoperability protocol popular in Europe, including the control of multiple source devices through a single remote pointed at the digital TV.

From the consumer`s point of view, HDMI offers the benefits of a simple single cable interconnection using a standardised connector. It offers the prospect of using identical single cables to link all domestic audio and video systems, along with a common, distributed method for remote control.

As far as the media industry is concerned, HDMI offers copyright protection through HDCP technology, which addresses the issue of protecting high-value content from unauthorised reproduction and distribution.

      THE NUTS AND BOLTS
Although the connectors and cables are new, HDMI builds on the protocols and technology developed over the past few years.

The transceiver technology is basically the same as that developed for DVI. HDCP first appeared as an addition to DVI; and the AV.link remote control, the EDID display identity protocol and the surround sound audio features are all pre-existing standards.

      TMDS and HDMI cable length
HDMI uses the TMDS (transition minimised differential signalling) channels first seen in DVI. Like DVI, HDMI allows for one or two TMDS links with three TMDS channels per link and a maximum bandwidth per channel of 165MHz.

Video pixel clocks are transmitted over a fourth TMDS, which is used by the PanelLink receiver as a data recovery reference for the other three channels.

HDMI differs from DVI in its support for video and surround audio and for remote control signals. Video and audio signals are multiplexed at the source transmitter, passed across the links as packet data and demultiplexed at the Sink or receiver.

The TMDS technology in PanelLink is designed to support cable lengths of up to 15 metres in copper. Longer connections will be possible using fibre optic cables.

      HDMI connectors and cables
HDMI uses a single cable for audio and video. Two connector types are used - the 19-pin type A and the 29-pin type B.

The Type A connector supports a single TMDS link, so it can only carry signals up to 165 megapixels per second.

A Type B connection doubles up to two TMDS links and therefore can support signal bandwidths up to 330 megapixels per second. This is the same scheme as used for DVI, but with different connectors.

It is possible to connect an A device and a B device, or a DVI connection and an HDMI connection with a conversion cable, although the maximum performance of the connected devices may not match.

      A CHANGE IN DIRECTION
Since the beginnings of DVI, Silicon Image and its partners in the development of HDMI seem to have altered their approach, probably in response to market pressures.

While the DVI specification clearly states that DVI was intended as a transitional interface - to replace the analogue VGA computer display standard with a dual purpose digital/analogue display interface -the HDMI specification emphasises domestic consumer HDTV applications and doesn`t mention computer applications.

In the UK, HDMI implementations are limited to some DVD players for connection to large-format domestic plasma displays.

Although HDMI doesn`t seem to be encouraging it, it will be interesting to see if HDMI is taken up by the computer industry and whether it might then enable the longanticipated convergence of computing and home entertainment electronics

Also weiter dranbleiben. :lick:

Silicon Image Reports Record Second Quarter 2004 Revenues Selected Q2 Highlights:

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jul 20, 2004 (PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX) -- Silicon
Image, Inc. , a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure
transmission and storage of rich digital media, today reported financial results
for its second quarter ended June 30, 2004.

Revenue of $43.4 million was achieved for the second quarter. This was an
increase of 21 percent from revenue of $35.9 million achieved in the first
quarter of 2004, and was an increase of 78 percent from revenue of $24.3 million
in the second quarter of 2003. Year-to-date revenue totaled $79.2 million, an
increase of 62 percent from revenue of $49.0 million for the first six months of
      2003.

Net loss under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), which includes
stock compensation expense, gain on a derivative investment security,
amortization of intangible assets and patent defense costs was $0.3 million, or
$0.00 per basic and diluted share, for the quarter ended June 30, 2004. This
compares to a net loss of $7.9 million, or $0.11 per basic and diluted share,
for the previous quarter, and a net loss of $8.7 million, or $0.13 per basic and
diluted share, for the second quarter of 2003. On a year-to-date basis, the GAAP
net loss was $8.1 million, or $0.11 per basic and diluted share, and compares to
a net loss of $5.4 million, or $0.08 per basic and diluted share, for the first
      six months of 2003.

Second quarter pro-forma net income, calculated excluding $8.7 million of
charges for: a non-cash charge for stock compensation; a gain on a derivative
investment security net of taxes; a non-cash expense for the amortization of
intangible assets; and cash legal expenses associated with patent litigation
lawsuit was $8.4 million, or $0.10 per diluted share. This compares to pro-
forma net income of $4.7 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, for the first
quarter of 2004, and a pro-forma net profit of $0.0 million, or $0.00 per
diluted share, for the second quarter of 2003.

Commenting on the results, David Lee, Silicon Image`s chairman and chief
executive officer, said, "We had another great quarter with increased pro-forma
profitability. Our CE business is growing rapidly and the adoption of HDMI is
readily apparent by the number of HDMI products now available in retail and the
number of adopters having exceeded 110. Fueled by increased DVI adoption, our PC
business grew for the fourth consecutive quarter. DisplaySearch reports that DVI
host adoption has now reached 37 percent. In general, our business outlook
remains strong and we enter the third quarter with strong visibility."

"While our storage business weakened due to a slowdown in demand for fibre
channel solutions and the absence of new storage IP licensing contracts, our
SATA IC revenues grew sequentially by 22 percent," noted Silicon Image`s chief
financial officer, Robert Gargus. "Later this year we plan to unveil a new SATA
storage architecture and product offering that we expect will add to our storage
growth projections. Overall we posted excellent financial results with pro-forma
profitability exceeding 19 percent of revenue. Based on our backlog visibility
entering the quarter, we are projecting third quarter revenues to improve 5-10
      percent over second quarter results."

Not surprisingly, consumers want to rest easy knowing their DTV interoperates with all the devices in their home theater, and that they can access new content and interactive services as they become available.

"HDMI, the new uncompressed, all-digital CE interface coupling uncompressed HD video and multi-channel audio in a single cable, has quickly emerged as the standard for connecting HDTV," said LeMoncheck. To accelerate the introduction of premium services, the HDMI interface is complemented by HDCP content protection. While protecting the valuable assets of content owners, HDCP is completely transparent to consumers. Interoperability of both HDMI and HDCP across different manufacturers` devices is key to delivering consumers an extraordinary digital television experience regardless of the products and brands they purchase.

"Silicon Image`s popular and widely supported PanelLink Cinema Partners Program is key to identifying devices capable of receiving and playing the most valuable digital content. Consumers can be confident that HDMI systems bearing the PanelLink Cinema Partners logo have been tested for HDCP functionality and content readiness, meaning they are interoperable and ready to receive and play premium digital content," added LeMoncheck.

      About HDMI

Developed by Sony, Hitachi, Thomson (RCA), Philips, Matsushita (Panasonic), Toshiba and Silicon Image as the digital interface standard for the consumer electronics market, the HDMI specification combines uncompressed high-definition video and multi-channel audio in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable.

About Silicon Image`s PanelLink Cinema Partners Program

The PanelLink(R) Cinema Partners Program provides consumers with a simple means of identifying HDTVs and other consumer electronics devices capable of receiving and playing the most valuable digital content. HDMI systems bearing the PanelLink Cinema Partners logo have been tested for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection functionality and content readiness. The PanelLink Cinema Partners Program is open to manufacturers of CE devices implementing HDMI/HDCP, including HDTVs, DTVs, set-top boxes, DVD players, A/V receivers, semiconductors and cables.

"The fourth quarter marked the completion of a very successful year for Silicon Image. We saw revenue grow 67 percent year-over-year. Our gross margins expanded to 62.4 percent in the fourth quarter and reflected an average improvement year-over-year in excess of 600 basis points. In addition to our financial success, we saw HDMI continue its rapid adoption, and we have clearly established ourselves as the quality and interoperability leader. Furthermore, the successful launch of our new SteelVine(TM) products positions us for above average growth in our storage business for 2005 and 2006," commented Steve Tirado, Silicon Image``s new president and chief executive officer.

"Despite a tight business climate, we were able to achieve record product revenue, expand our gross margins and tightly control our operating expenses. Even so, in the fourth quarter we experienced a decline in our licensing revenue, resulting in flat earnings per diluted share quarter-to-quarter. The decline in licensing revenue was due to a multi-million dollar transaction anticipated to close in the fourth quarter. We continue to work this deal and are optimistic that it will close in the first quarter," commented Bob Gargus, chief financial officer of Silicon Image. "Furthermore, it is noteworthy to point out that on a year-to-year revenue increase of slightly under $70 million, we were able to improve our pro-forma bottom line by slightly more than $31 million to the bottom-line. Our improved financials combined with our new products, the various partnerships, and the rapid adoption of HDMI contributed to a very good year for Silicon Image."

The Company will host a conference call at 2:00 p.m. PST today to discuss its fourth quarter 2004 results and business outlook. The call will be broadcast over the Internet and can be accessed on the investor relations section of the Company``s Web site located at http://www.siliconimage.com/.

*Pro-forma net income or loss represents net income or net loss, exclusive of stock compensation expense, amortization of intangible assets, patent defense costs, acquisition integration costs, restructuring costs, gain/(loss) on derivative securities, gains on escrow settlement, and in-process research and development.

Also was steckt genau hinter dem Absturz ?

      @barabo,

Silicon Image Shares Fall on 4Q Results

Tuesday January 25, 11:45 am ET
Silicon Image Shares Fall Nearly 25 Percent on Fourth-Quarter Results, Steven Laub`s Resignation

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Shares of Silicon Image Inc. plummeted nearly 25 percent Tuesday morning after the chip maker reported fourth-quarter results that missed Wall Street expectations, and disclosed its recently hired president, chief executive and director, Steven Laub resigned.

The company said Laub stepped down because of issues related to the scope of his role and responsibilities.

Silicon Image shares fell $3.31, or 23.4 percent, to $10.83 in morning trading on the Nasdaq, after dropping as much as $3.51, or 24.8 percent, to $10.63 earlier in the day.

The company posted a fourth-quarter loss of $80,000, or break even on a per-share basis, compared to a loss of $5.3 million, or 7 cents per share a year ago. The results included charges for stock compensation, patent defense costs, and amortization of intangible assets.

Excluding items, the company posted net income of $10.3 million, or 12 cents per share, up from $2.3 million, or 3 cents per share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $46.1 million from $30.3 million.

However, the results fell short of expectations from analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call, who predicted earnings of 13 cents per share on revenue of $48.4 million.

The company said its licensing revenue dropped due to a multimillion dollar deal expected to close in the fourth quarter, but is now anticipated to close in the first quarter.

For the full year, the company posted a loss of $324,000, or break-even per share, compared to a loss of $12.8 million, or 18 cents per share, a year ago. Excluding items, net income rose to $33.4 million, or 39 cents per share, from $2.3 million, or 3 cents per share, in 2003.

Analysts expected earnings of 40 cents per share. Revenue rose to $173.2 million from $103.5 million.

The company said Laub will be replaced by Steve Tirado, who previously worked as president of the company`s storage division. Before that, Tirado served as chief operating officer from November 2000 to March 2004, as well as president from January 2003 until last March.

Additionally, the company named Christopher Paisley chairman, replacing David Lee who will remain a Silicon Image board member and was named chairman of the company`s PanelLink Cinema LLC unit. Paisley has been an independent director since April, and was previously senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer for 3Com Corp. for 15 years, the company said.

HDMI is being adopted most rapidly in the DTV market, which is projected to grow from 21.4 million units worldwide in 2004 to 83 million units worldwide in 2007 according to IDC. Approximately 80 percent of the DTV models shipped to the U.S. market in 2003 featured a DVI connector, and HDMI DTVs are projected to out-ship DVI models by the end of 2004. According to IDC, Samsung is the second largest supplier of LCD TVs worldwide, a market that will grow from 7.7 million units in 2004 to 34.4 million units in 2007. IDC also noted that Samsung and LG together supplied nearly 24 percent of the world``s 1.41 million LCD TVs shipped in Q1 2004.

"HDMI with HDCP enables us to provide our customers access to the newest digital content and services available in the digital age, and we are committed to adopting HDMI across our lineup of DVD players and DTVs," said Dr. Choon Lee, VP, Digital TV Laboratory at LG Electronics. "Silicon Image is the recognized leader in HDMI technology, and their proven HDMI solutions include HDCP functionality that will enable our customers to view premium digital content."

"Samsung is committed to offering our customers the highest quality, all-digital audio visual experience with HDMI technology, and we are aggressively outfitting our DTV and DVD player product lines with HDMI-HDCP capability," stated Mr. CW Hong, VP of Visual Display Division at Samsung. "As an HDMI founder and the first supplier of production HDMI silicon, Silicon Image has a proven track record of HDMI quality and reliability. Silicon Image``s PanelLink HDMI ICs incorporate HDCP content protection, which helps future-proof our customers`` equipment purchases."

The FCC has mandated that all Digital Cable-Ready TVs sold after July 1, 2005 feature an HDMI-HDCP or a DVI-HDCP input. In addition, the DVD Copy Control Association requires that all DVD players playing CSS-protected content at resolutions higher than 480p/576p have an HDMI-HDCP or a DVI-HDCP output. Cable industry association CableLabs also requires that all OpenCable HD STBs must have HDMI-HDCP or DVI-HDCP outputs, and satellite operators DIRECTV and EchoStar require HDMI-HDCP or DVI-HDCP on all HD STBs.

Samsung and LG are charter members of Silicon Image``s PanelLink Cinema Partners Program, which provides consumers with a simple means of identifying High-Definition (HD) TVs and other consumer electronics devices capable of receiving and playing the most valuable digital content. LG and Samsung are committed to HDMI interoperability and are submitting products to the PanelLink Cinema Test Center for testing of HDCP functionality and interoperability with HDMI/HDCP devices from other manufacturers.

      HDTV ohne analoges Loch

      ...

      Chip-Offensive

Silicon Image SteelVine-Based Storage Appliances Now Available in Asia-Pacific

Silicon Image Expands SteelVine Distribution Channels with Addition of Weikeng and Dreamintek

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, today announced it has significantly expanded distribution channels for its SteelVine(TM)-based storage appliances, which are now available in Asia-Pacific as well as North America. Weikeng Industrial Co. will be integrating and distributing the SteelVine SV2000(TM) family of products in Taiwan, Greater China, Hong Kong and Singapore. In addition, Dreamintek Co., Ltd. will be marketing a SteelVine storage appliance under the Dreamintek brand in Korea.

The SV2000 family of products represents an ideal solution for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and for enterprise branch and departmental storage. The SteelVine architecture delivers enterprise-class features, such as virtualization, RAID, hot-plug and hot spare, in an appliance-like solution. Its simplicity, scalability and reliability, coupled with performance at very affordable prices, bring a new class of storage systems into the marketplace. Companies without an IT service infrastructure can readily benefit from the ease of use offered by a robust, reliable storage appliance that today offers up to two terabytes of storage capacity. IT departments can dramatically reduce time-to-storage with the simplicity of the SV2000, while also benefiting from the low total cost of ownership (TCO) of a platform that is affordable, simple to install and configure, easy to manage and inexpensive to service.

The SV2000`s SteelVine architecture leverages a standard Serial ATA (SATA) connection to provide users with a simple, yet powerful and reliable storage solution that does not require special O/S drivers or RAID software to load or configure. Featuring a direct SATA host connection, the SV2000 supports 1.5 and 3.0 Gb/s SATA speeds as well as RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, partitioning and concatenation.

Commenting on the distribution agreement with Weikeng, Jimmy Garcia-Meza, vice president, storage products business for Silicon Image, noted, "Weikeng has been a valued and successful partner for Silicon Image for the last five years. They have developed a significant presence in the Greater China market and have also developed a strong partnership with disk drive vendors to supply SATA disk drives in the region. Their geographic coverage and channel and customer relationships are well suited for marketing the SteelVine product line to SMBs in the region. In addition, Weikeng has the ability to integrate SV2000 systems with hard drives, complementing our business model and resulting in lower costs and local service and support for end customers."

Garcia-Meza added, "Dreamintek has an established reputation supplying integrated hardware and software solutions, with a strong emphasis on networking and storage, to the Korean IT market. They have close relationships with key customers in the education, government and telecommunications sectors in Korea. We are pleased to partner with Dreamintek to establish a SteelVine presence in Korea, and look forward to a successful relationship."

Stan Chi, president of Weikeng Industrial Co., stated, "We have been a Silicon Image partner for several years and have been successfully marketing SATA-based solutions in Taiwan, China and Singapore. The SteelVine architecture enables a new category of storage systems that delivers the simplicity, reliability, performance and affordability that the rapidly growing China market needs. We are excited about the opportunity and the expanded relationship with Silicon Image."

Dreamintek CEO JinSool Kim noted, "The SteelVine architecture brings enterprise-class features and performance to SMBs in a storage appliance that is simple, reliable, affordable and scalable. We are pleased to be marketing SteelVine in Korea and believe this technology will revolutionize storage for SMBs."

Weikeng Industrial will be performing final system integration for the SV2000 family of products. They will also market the product line through their direct sales force and reseller network, as well as provide warranty and enhanced services for the systems. Dreamintek will fully integrate SteelVine systems under the Dreamintek brand.

SteelVine systems are currently available from Weikeng and Dreamintek, and from Bell Microproducts in the North American market. For information on how to order, visit http://www.weikeng.com.tw, www.dreamintek.com, www.bellmicro.com or www.steelvine.com.

      Also der Durchschnitt der Schätzungen:.....

      Durchscnittliche Schätzungen für 2005e 2006e
      Umsatz 224,59 Mio 290,46 Mio
Gewinn vor Steuern 46,24 Mio 68,14 Mio
      Nettogewinn 44,94 Mio 56,86 Mio

      Selected Q1 Highlights:
GAAP net income was $16.6 million, or $0.19 per diluted share, and compares to a net loss of $7.9 million or $0.11 per diluted share for the year ago quarter .

      TV-Sender wollen WM 2006 in HDTV-Qualität ausstrahlen

(Ende)

HDTV: Nichts geht ohne HDCP (high-bandwidth digital-content protection)

(Nasdaq: SIMG), a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, today announced that it ranked among the Top 10 in Gartner, Inc.`s recently published 2004 Semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP) Survey(1). With $20.8 million in IP revenue for 2004, Silicon Image debuted at number 10 among 135 semiconductor IP vendors as ranked by total worldwide revenue for 2004. Silicon Image also ranked number 10 according to total royalty revenue worldwide for 2004 and was the second largest vendor of wired interface blocks.

According to the Gartner report, the semiconductor IP market posted growth of 21 percent in 2004, with the market expected to grow faster than the overall semiconductor market during the next five years.

"System-on-chip (SoC) designers and ASIC vendors like Samsung, MediaTek, ATI, Micronas, Sunplus and Trident demand silicon-proven, compliance-verified and fully supported IP so that they can produce devices that work the first time," stated Eric Almgren, Silicon Image vice president of business development and IP licensing. "Silicon Image delivers high-quality IP backed by a strong engineering support team, which has enabled us to become a Top 10 IP provider in three short years."

Silicon Image offers HDMI transmitter and receiver core IP, including the digital logic and analog PHY. Silicon Image`s HDMI cores are compliant with the HDMI 1.1 specification and have undergone extensive verification testing. Silicon Image`s HDMI technology includes High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), supported by Hollywood as the technology of choice for the distribution of premium digital content. Silicon Image HDMI receiver core IP provides full support for HDCP decryption and authentication. Silicon Image`s DVI cores are DVI-compliant and support the full DVI bandwidth of 25 to 165 MHz. In addition, the company also offers SATA host- and device-side core IP, including the Transport, Link and PHY layers with PCI, PCI-X or AMBA SoC internal interface options. Tuesday August 9, 1:49 pm ET
Silicon Image 2Q Profit Jumps on Stronger Sales, Beats Wall Street Estimate by a Penny

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Semiconductor designer Silicon Image Inc. on Tuesday said it swung to a second-quarter profit, reversing a year-ago loss, and beat Wall Street`s earnings estimate by a penny.

Net income rose to $10.5 million, or 12 cents per share, from a year-ago loss of $262,000, or break even per share. Excluding items, net income totaled $10.7 million. The company said that last year`s results included $9.1 million in stock compensation costs. Excluding those expenses and others, income in the 2004 quarter amounted to $8.3 million, or 10 cents per share.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial predicted lower quarterly earnings of 11 cents per share.

Revenue rose 17 percent to $50.7 million from $43.4 million, in line with analysts` consensus estimate.

WR Hambrecht & Co. analyst Michael Bertz downgraded Silicon Image shares to "Hold" from "Buy" in a brief morning note to clients Tuesday.

The company`s stock approached its 52-week low as shares declined $1.12, or 11.1 percent, to $9 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq. Silicon Image shares have traded between $8.69 and $18.37 over the past 12 months, and are down about 45 percent year-to-date."

"The Purchase of Short-Term Investements" zog den Cash Flow runter.

Silicon Image Unveils Breakthrough Next Generation 6.0 Gb/s SerDes Technology
Wednesday August 24, 7:15 am ET
Company Leads Charge in High Speed Serial Technology for Storage Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG - News), a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, today announced its next generation multi-rate MSLPhy(TM) Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) technology, an integrated circuit transceiver that converts parallel data to serial data and vice-versa, capable of operating at bandwidths from 1.5 to 6.0 Gb/s. The MSLPhy is a low-cost solution for the storage market and other future mass markets with aggressive price/performance requirements. Silicon Image will be showcasing the 6.0 Gb/s SerDes technology at booth number 409 during the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), being held August 23-25 at Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The next generation MSLPhy SerDes technology is capable of meeting multiple standards in the storage markets including Serial ATA (SATA) and Serial Attached SCSI. Combined with this week`s introduction of Silicon Image`s SiI 4723, the industry`s first storage processor to offer 3Gb/s port speeds with hardware RAID, this announcement extends Silicon Image`s leadership in high-speed serial technology for storage applications.

"Silicon Image continues to demonstrate leadership in silicon innovation," says Steve Tirado, Silicon Image`s president and chief executive officer. "Being able to operate at 6Gb/s, the MSLPhy SerDes technology achieves a price/performance that is unmatched today and enables the continual evolution of the PC, CE and storage markets."

The continued demand for greater bandwidth is necessitating increases in SerDes speed. The new MSLPhy SerDes technology provides a next generation, high-speed, serial, point-to-point link between devices and leverages much of the circuit innovation at the physical layer of Silicon Image`s proprietary reduced overhead Multi-layer Serial Link (MSL) architecture. The MSL architecture is a robust, high-speed serial link IC technology that is key to achieving unparalleled price/performance. The MSL architecture includes a physical layer, coding layer and protocol layer, all on a single chip. Each of these layers is optimized for the particular application being addressed. By implementing the MSL architecture in low-cost CMOS technology, Silicon Image is able to deliver low-cost, high-bandwidth solutions for high-volume applications.

The next generation MSLPhy SerDes technology is implemented in standard 0.13 micron CMOS which offers high speed in a low-cost, robust design. The technology is critical for high-volume, mass markets and is also well suited to meet the needs of the PC, server and consumer electronics (CE) markets with aggressive price/performance requirements. Specific applications that benefit from this increased price/performance include direct attached storage (DAS) and network attached storage (NAS).

Silicon Image`s market-leading implementations of the Digital Video Interface (DVI) and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) standards for the display market, 2Gb/s Fibre Channel SerDes,1.5Gb/s and 3.0Gb/s Serial ATA, are also all based on this MSL architecture.

      Availability

Silicon Image reports that engineering samples are currently available for strategic development partners, with sampling targeted for Q2 2006. Future generation SATA and Serial Attached SCSI interfaces, which require 6.0Gb/s, can begin with select partners in early 2006. The 6.0Gb/s SerDes will also available for license as an IP core for System on a Chip (SoC) and ASIC designs.

of $1.5 million in the third quarter of 2004.

During the quarter the Company determined that, based on favorable operating results in 2005, it may be appropriate to release a portion of the valuation allowance against certain deferred tax assets. "While our ongoing evaluation of the deferred tax allowance prevented us from reporting net income in this release, the fact that we are undertaking this task at this time is an affirmation of our continuing profitable performance and our confidence that we will be able to use this deferred tax asset to offset future income," added Robert Freeman, interim chief financial officer.

The company will host a conference call at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time today to discuss its third quarter 2005 results and business outlook.
