HPS Home Power Solutions Receives 2021 Handelsblatt Energy Award for its Hydrogen Power Storage System - Seite 2

Since 2015 the Handelsblatt Energy Awards have distinguished outstanding projects in the energy industry that use renewable power sources and promote storage and distribution. The annual award is given in four categories: Industry, Mobility, Smart City and Start-up. The Smart City category includes scalable business models with a high degree of innovation and potential whose added value lies in digitization, networking, energy efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.

About picea

picea is the world's first hydrogen-based electricity storage system for one and two-family houses. The energy surpluses achieved on sunny days from a photovoltaic system are stored as green hydrogen and make electricity and heat in the dark season available again. So picea provides year-round a CO₂ free full power supply and also reduces heating costs. Per year a picea system avoids approx. 3 tons of CO₂ and thus binds the amount of CO₂ of 130 mature Spruce trees.

The Handelsblatt Energy Awards recognizes concepts, products, best practices and total integrated solutions that contribute sustainably to the success of the energy transition. Condition is, that submitted projects have at least been tested in practice. A top-class jury made up of energy experts nominates five finalists in each category. The respective winners are determined by all around 100 members of the Energy Academy. The Energy Academy consists of engineers, scientists, Managing Directors, board members of energy companies, professors, environmental researchers, managers and politicians.
