Priceline.com hebt Prognosen an
(ami)

NORWALK, Conn., Oct 02, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- In a priceline.com(R) (PCLN) survey of destinations receiving the most hotel room reservation requests for the upcoming Columbus Day long weekend (October 7-9), New York City's Upper Midtown/Central Park South neighborhood is the number-one place to be.
To compile its list of the Top 50 Columbus Day travel destinations, priceline.com looked at a sampling of more than 30,000 hotel room booking requests made by priceline.com customers. Since the priceline.com study is based on actual booking requests, and not on consumer preference polls or votes, priceline.com believes the study is one of the more accurate predictors of future travel trends.
Priceline.com said it still has plenty of last-minute airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, vacation packages and cruises available for Columbus Day getaways. Visit www.priceline.com for full details.
In addition to the top spot, New York neighborhoods took four of the top 10 spots on the list. Several other major cities made a priceline.com Top 50 holiday travel list for the first time this year, including Houston, Dallas and Minneapolis. Also of particular interest is the strong showing among international destinations, which took nine spots on the list. Destinations making the Columbus Day list included London (#19), Paris (#22 and #46), Brighton in the UK (#48), Rome (#32), Madrid (#50), Vancouver (#38), Montreal (#34) and St. Catharines, Ontario (#44).
