      Stoppkurs: 8,50 EUR

PCTEL and Conexant Complete Patent Assignment
Tuesday June 17, 5:20 pm ET
PCTEL`s Portfolio Now Totals 134 U.S. and 120 Foreign Patents and Applications

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2003--PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCTI - News), a leading provider of Wi-Fi and cellular mobility software, software-defined radio products and access technology, announced today that it had completed an important element of the recently announced divestiture of its HSP modem business to Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT - News). As part of that transaction, Conexant is transferring ownership of a number of analog modem patents and Local Area Network (LAN) patents to PCTEL. As a result of this patent assignment, PCTEL now maintains a portfolio of more than 70 analog modem patents and 27 patent applications.
"As we explained to our stockholders, we divested the HSP modem business to Conexant so that we could focus on our wireless future and optimize our intellectual property and licensing business," said Marty Singer, PCTEL`s chairman and CEO. "Analog modems will remain part of the Internet access landscape for some time and we plan to license our technology to industry participants," added Singer.

In addition to the analog modem patents, the company now owns seven DSL patents and six patent applications. PCTEL also acquired four LAN patents as a result of the transaction with Conexant.

PCTEL is also developing and acquiring intellectual property in the wireless technology field. The company now owns three wireless patents and an additional 19 wireless patent applications. Some of this technology is related to software-defined radio applications. In total, PCTEL now owns 134 U.S. patents or applications. The company also owns more than 120 foreign patent counterparts and applications.

PCTEL and Broadcom Settle Patent Infringement Dispute
Tuesday December 16, 8:45 am ET
Companies Agree to Broad Modem Cross-License
Broadcom Acquires Patents, Becomes A Segue(TM) Roaming Client Customer And Obtains a Covenant Not to Sue Under Remainder of PCTEL Portfolio

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 2003-- PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCTI - News), a leader in intelligent wireless solutions, announced today that it has settled a patent infringement lawsuit with Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq:BRCM - News), a leading provider of silicon solutions that enable broadband communications. The settled lawsuit pertains to "soft modems," a technology pioneered by PCTEL in the 1990s, and other voice band modem technology.

Under the agreement, Broadcom will receive a license to all of PCTEL`s modem patents, including those related to V.92 technology, and other patent applications recently acquired from Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT - News), as well as a conditional covenant not to sue under PCTEL`s remaining patents. Additionally, PCTEL will assign to Broadcom two key patents relating to Ethernet technology.

Broadcom has agreed to become a PCTEL Segue(TM) Roaming Client customer. Broadcom will make a lump sum payment to PCTEL for past damages and the two assigned patents. Broadcom will also pay to PCTEL patent royalties for sales after 2004. PCTEL will also receive a license to Broadcom`s voice band modem patents. Broadcom`s purchase of Segue(TM) software will occur in 2004. Under the settlement agreement, PCTEL will dismiss its patent infringement lawsuit against Broadcom. PCTEL will receive $3.5 million in total consideration under the various agreements.

"We are pleased to have this matter behind us," said Jeff Thermond, Vice President and General Manager of Broadcom`s Home and Wireless Networking Business. "This should resolve all current and potential disputes regarding PCTEL`s patent portfolio and allow us to focus on the operations of our business and its future. In the process, we are adding significantly to our growing portfolio of communications patents."

Jeff Miller, PCTEL`s Vice President of Business Development and Licensing, said "We are delighted to have Broadcom as both a licensee and a customer; we look forward to the opportunity to provide value-added Wi-Fi® software to them. This settlement also simplifies our litigation strategy and permits us to focus on parties with significant past and future liability."

PCTEL filed a patent infringement suit against 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS - News) in March of this year and then filed additional complaints against Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU - News), Agere Systems (NYSE:AGR.A - AGR.B), U.S. Robotics, and Broadcom in May. The lawsuits claim that all of these companies infringed technology that enables critical analog modem functionality. PCTEL maintains more than 115 patents and patent applications. In addition to its modem patents, the company has patents or applications related to DSL modems and wireless networking.
