The company's trustee, Pricewaterhouse, applied for an extension to the Superior Court on Tuesday, until December 13, in order to reach an agreement with a potential buyer of the facilities of the high-purity alumina plant in Cape Town. -Cat.
According to the responsible control of the file, the buyer's letter of intent is the option that could maximize the realizable value of Orbite Technologies' assets.
Before the court, the trustee argued that this offer could be used to restructure the company and possibly file a plan of arrangement acceptable to creditors.
The controller wishes, however, to obtain a revised letter of intent.
A dismantling plan was also filed in court. This plan could start next January, if no agreement was reached with the potential buyer.
In recent weeks, the firm GPH has visited the high-purity alumina production plant in Cap-Chat to evaluate the cost of a possible dismantling and the value of equipment.
According to the GPH report, the net realizable value of a possible dismantling could vary between $ 100,000 and $ 1.5 million.
The trustee is also in discussion with the Ministry of Economy for a possible lease of the building. The scenario provides for the building to be transferred to the Municipality.
An appraisal and asset management firm was also mandated to have the offices, laboratory and equipment that the company owned in Laval.
In addition, shareholders and creditors of Orbite are still trying to regroup to avoid a dismantling of the plant and have written to the court to detail their approach.
Earlier this week, the group also called on the Minister of the Economy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, head of Investissement Québec, one of the privileged creditors of Orbite Technologies.
The minister refused to commit to the shareholders. As he had already stated, Pierre Fitzgibbon reiterated that the government might be interested if a credible buyer filed a stimulus package. It would then be possible for the government to study the possibility of investing additional funds for the revival of the project , replied the Minister's Office by email.
Orbite Technologies has been under the protection of the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act since the spring of 2017.

https://www.pwc.com/ca/en/car/orbitetechnologies/assets/orbi…
