The Jeep® brand today announced it has been named exclusive automotive partner by Activision Publishing, Inc. for Call of Duty®: Black Ops, the year's most anticipated entertainment launch, which will be released on November 9.

In conjunction with the partnership, the Jeep brand also announced that it will produce a limited-edition 2011 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition. Available in Jeep showrooms next month, the new limited-edition Jeep Wrangler will be available at a U.S. manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $30,625 for the two-door model and $33,500 for the four-door (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited) model. Both prices include $750 destination.

"The Jeep brand's partnership with Activision marries the world's most capable and iconic vehicle - the Jeep Wrangler - with one of the world's most popular entertainment experiences," said Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "As a result, we are able to expose the Jeep brand and its legendary capability to an entirely new group of consumers."

"This is a dynamic and fully integrated partnership that brings together two iconic brands across a full array of consumer touch-points," stated Brad Jakeman, Chief Marketing Officer, Activision Publishing, Inc. "From the beginning our teams worked together to make this a truly creative partnership that added to the consumer experience of both the Jeep and Call of Duty: Black Ops brands."

The 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition is based on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon model and features dark Rubicon wheels in a high-gloss Mineral Gray. The vehicle's exterior color is black and features Call of Duty: Black Ops graphics on the roof and front quarter panels. The vehicle also features taillamp guards and a fuel-filler door from Mopar®. Inspired by Call of Duty: Black Ops, the new limited-edition Wrangler delivers legendary Jeep capability, aggressive 32-inch off-road tires, live axles with locking differentials in the front and rear, and a two-speed transfer case.

The partnership delivers a natural fit including an in-game integration into both the epic single player storyline of Call of Duty: Black Ops and the title's much anticipated multiplayer experience.

"It was important for us to make sure that the Jeep partnership would be authentic and enhance the setting we immerse our fans in with Black Ops," said Mark Lamia, Studio Head of game developer Treyarch. "Our work with the Jeep team focused around using the Jeep Wrangler in our levels, and gameplay experiences, and translating the style and look of the vehicle in Black Ops to the Jeep on the showroom floor that our fans can own."

      All-new 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining legendary, benchmark capability with an all-new interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of an all-new body color hard top for the popular Sahara model.

New 2011 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a redesigned instrument panel and new storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A new lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are now available, and drivers and passengers will enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of larger rear windows.

All-new steering-wheel controls allow the driver to operate the radio, cruise control, hands-free phone and other vehicle functions while keeping hands on the wheel. A new USB interface connects to storage devices for use with the vehicle's Media Center, which now includes streaming Bluetooth audio. Twelve-volt accessory outlets have been added and a new 110-volt outlet is available to provide power similar to AC outlets in the home.

In line with traditional Jeep design, hex-head bolts are utilized throughout the interior, and are used to mount a "Jeep, Since 1941" inlay onto the new passenger grab handle.

Jeep engineers increased acoustical treatment in the 2011 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, resulting in significantly reduced interior noise.

To provide a more premium appearance, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Sahara models boast an all-new, premium, body-color hard top.

      Call of Duty: Black Ops

World of Warcraft"-Universum verkleidet.

Vater, Mutter, Tante, Tochter - alles passionierte "World of Warcraft"-Spieler, alle liebevoll kostümiert.

(ps)

Call of Duty®: Black Ops Sets New Five Day Entertainment Industry Record Grossing More Than $650 Million Worldwide

Largest Entertainment Launch in History Establishes New Xbox® LIVE™ Record with 2.6 Million Unique Players in One Day
Call of Duty: Black Ops Was Best-Selling Video Game Launch of All Time on Amazon.com and at GameStop

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that Treyarch's Call of Duty®: Black Ops has shattered theatrical box office, book and video game sales records for five-day worldwide sell through in dollars. The game established an all-new five-day worldwide sell-through record of more than $650 million, exceeding Activision's previous five-day worldwide record of $550 million set by last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® 2, according to internal Activision estimates.

"Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for two consecutive years across all forms of entertainment," said Robert Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard. "The title's success illustrates the mass appeal of interactive entertainment as millions of consumers are choosing to play Call of Duty: Black Ops at unprecedented levels rather than engage in other forms of media. The number of people playing online and the number of hours they are playing demonstrates how online gaming has become a mainstream form of entertainment and certainly validates Activision Blizzard's leadership role in online entertainment."

"There are many reasons for the success of Black Ops, but first and foremost is the fact that our team at Treyarch delivered a truly awesome game, and in the process have established themselves as one of the most talented developers in the world," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing. "There are millions of people all over the world engaging in this community. It's our job to keep them coming back for more."

In addition to beating all previous first-and five-day box office, book and video game sell-through records, Call of Duty: Black Ops set two new records on Xbox® LIVE™.

      According to Microsoft:

More than 5.9 million multiplayer hours were logged playing Call of Duty: Black Ops by end of launch day, November 9.
More than 2.6 million unique gamers played Call of Duty: Black Ops in one day on November 9.

"With a record breaking performance on Xbox LIVE, home to the world's largest Call of Duty gaming community, Call of Duty: Black Ops has already carved out its legacy as one of the biggest video games in history," said Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft. "We congratulate our partners at Activision and Treyarch and are proud to continue offering the best Call of Duty experience to our 25 million global Xbox LIVE members by launching all Call of Duty map packs first on Xbox 360."

The game also was a tremendous success on the PlayStation® 3 and the best-selling video game launch of all time on Amazon.com and at GameStop.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops has been an incredible success on PlayStation 3," said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA). "Treyarch's latest efforts are driving unprecedented traffic to the PlayStation Network with the flagship online experience this holiday season."

"Call of Duty: Black Ops had the highest number of pre-orders of any video game to date," said Paul Raines, CEO, GameStop. "It went on to become our biggest video game launch ever, which bodes well for game sales as we enter the holidays."

Activision is excited about the performance of Call of Duty: Black Ops, but given that it is still very early in the holiday shopping season, the company remains cautiously optimistic.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is rated "M" (Mature) by the ESRB for Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence and Language. For additional information visit www.callofduty.com/blackops and also via Twitter @JD_2020.

Analysts are overwhelmingly bullish on Activision, with 22 rating its stock "buy" and just two ranking it "hold." None rate the stock "sell." A median price target of $14.53 suggests a 12-month return of 25%. RBC Capital Markets forecasts that the stock will appreciate 38% to $16. Deutsche Bank expects a rally of 30% to $15. The lowest price target comes from Piper Jaffray, which expects Activision's shares to rise a modest 12% to $13. Piper released a note this week in response to the monthly video-game report from researcher NPD.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 40.155.750 von Neal_AE am 15.09.10 16:03:16Activision Blizzard (ATVI) looks to have been the big winner, no surprise, Wilson notes, with the top selling game release of all time, Call of Duty: Black Ops. That title made up over a third of software sales in the quarter. Activision’s total sales rose 14%, more than double what Wilson was expecting.

Based on those results, he raised his forecast for sales of Call of Duty to 20 million copies from 16 million previously. Wilson also raised his EPS estimate for Activision for this year and next, to 79 cents from 76 cents.

That’s right: no EPS growth for Activision in 2011. However, given the company will probably beat this quarter’s estimates on Call of Duty sales, the stock is an Outperform, in Wilson’s view. He gives it a $13 price target.

ATVI shares today are up 3 cents at $12.20.

What's It Going to Take to Move Activision Blizzard?
By Brian Stoffel | More Articles
      February 2, 2011 | Comments (2)

Video game maker Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI) is one of the most popular stocks in all of Fooldom. A total of 6,900 CAPS players have entered Activision into their scorecard, and 98% of them believe the company will outperform the S&P 500. The headlines would lead you to believe this is a no-brainer; among Activision's recent successes:

Modern Warfare 2 (2009) was the second-best-selling video game of all time.
Black Ops (2010) topped $1 billion in sales in the first six weeks on the market.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (2010) was the fastest selling game of all time, selling 3.3 million copies in its first month.
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (2010) was close on Cataclysm's heels, selling 3 million copies in its first month.
And what do investors have to show for this? Shares have gone down 10% since Modern Warfare was released 15 months ago. This leads frustrated investors to ponder:

For the love of God, when will this stock start moving up?

There are four hypotheses as to why the stock has been held down and what it will take to get it going.

Hypothesis No. 1: The P/E is out of whack
Currently, the company's P/E sits at 39.6. Non-recurring charges have caused this key ratio to be a little crazy. This is primarily due to the 2008 merger between Activision (which makes console video games) and Blizzard (which focuses on online gaming). The forward P/E, which is free of such one-time charges, is at a much more reasonable 14.

Although it's tempting to place the blame on the skewed P/E, I find it hard to believe that institutional investors are unaware of these circumstances. Maybe when the P/E normalizes, it will help, but I don't think this is our culprit.

Hypothesis No. 2: Social gaming is taking over
When Facebook opened up its platform to apps, casual gamers came in droves. Farmville, the site's most popular app, has more than 53 million active members. Angry Birds, another popular app available on Facebook as well as smartphones, has been downloaded 50 million times.

While the price tag for such games is either minuscule or nonexistent, why would anyone pay up for Activision games that can run as much as $60? Could the ground be shifting under Activision's feet, as bearish analysts say?

Again, I don't think we have our culprit here. The sales numbers from the latest releases make it pretty clear that consumers are still willing to pay up for quality games.

Hypothesis No. 3: There's no guarantee of future blockbusters
The video game industry can be brutal. Instead of raw materials or brand power, video game companies live and die by the quality of the games they produce. Talent is the most valuable asset to these companies. Even if Activision has been on a tear lately, who's to say that it will continue?

Here I think investors have a valid concern. Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) used to sit atop the gaming industry. But a lack of creative and engaging games has caused the company to remain relatively stagnant for years now.

I believe, however, that Activision has a pretty solid plan for approaching this problem. Instead of having just one studio develop its games, Activision has 16 different studios at its disposal. The sheer quantity of engineers working on the next big thing raises the probability that a quality end product will rise to the surface.

How can investors be convinced of such an outcome? In one word: consistency. Two years of blockbuster games is nice, but some may consider it dumb luck. Run that streak up to five years, and now we're looking at a trend.

Hypothesis No. 4: The gaming industry is in a cyclical depression
The past few years have not treated video game companies well at all. The just-ended 2010 saw video game sales show no growth. The year before, video game sales fell 8%.

Activision, Electronic Arts, and Grand-Theft Auto maker Take Two Interactive (Nasdaq: TTWO) have all been stuck in a two-year rut. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the gaming industry expanded its base of customers rapidly. Though this was good for profits at the time, it spelled trouble when the recession arrived in 2008. Instead of a base of hard-core gamers, these companies now had customers who had no problem walking away from the newest release.

Without a doubt, this has been the foremost drain on the industry, and the price of Activision's stock. There's only one thing that will truly improve this situation: time.

Eventually, unemployment will fall, consumer spending will rise, and more video games will be bought. When that time comes, investors will be looking for the cream of the crop to invest in. Expect to see Activision shares skyrocket when that day comes.
