Profitieren dürften davon v.a. hersteller mit einzigartigen produkten.

      LCD-Bildschirme befanden, sollen TFT-Displays dann 13 Prozent aller PC-Monitore
ausmachen.

      unentdeckt.

The Wall Street Transcript Publishes Digital Media Infrastructure Report in Robertson Stephens Tech 2000 Issue

NEW YORK, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty-one leading analysts and top management of thirty-three Technology firms examine the Technology sector in the latest issue of The Wall Street Transcript (212-952-7433) or http://www.twst.com/info60.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow ugc noopener">http://www.twst.com/info60.htm

In a crucial review of this sector for investors and industry professionals, this valuable 174-page Special Issue features:

      1) Digital Media Infrastructure -- In an in-depth Analyst Interview (2,800 words), Arnab Chanda, Digital Media Infrastructure Analyst and a Semiconductor and Semiconductor-related Tools Analyst with Robertson Stephens, discusses the positive outlook and the business models for the top-tier companies in the Computer/Media sector.

Chanda explains, "We`re focusing on the systems and ICs. So in terms of actual devices, we`re talking about DVDs, digital cameras, set-top boxes, game platforms, and other kinds of Internet appliances. We believe this is a rapidly developing area, and there will be a lot of different, interesting systems, as well as just components companies that will play in this area."

Chanda discusses market plays relation to the set-top box: "Specifically in set-top box, there are a couple of public market plays, actually really there`s only one left right now with Motorola`s (NYSE: MOT) purchase of GI. Scientific-Atlanta (NYSE: SFA) is definitely a play on the digital set-top box. But I think what would be interesting is really to look at the software or the chip companies that will play into that. I think we`re still early, and Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM) certainly is a winner in that set-top box area, but we expect to see other companies. ATI (Nasdaq: ATYT) is a multimedia company that has penetration there."

Chanda is confident that "one of the companies that will benefit strongly from digital set-top box is a microprocessor IP company, MIPS (Nasdaq: MIPS), which is really becoming the standard architecture platform for microprocessors for a lot of these digital media type of appliances. They already are successful in the digital consumer games console market with Nintendo (OTC Bulletin Board: NTDOY.BB) and Sony`s Playstation II (NYSE: SNE)."

He gives a special note to Silicon Image (Nasdaq: SIMG), "A play on the digital display market, which is a very, very large market. The opportunity is very large. So a company like a Silicon Image is an interesting play on that market."

Chanda is also interested in "Zoran (Nasdaq: ZRAN), which is really currently now a play on DVDs, but is experiencing a lot of success in digital cameras."

Chanda thinks that "one of the reasons Palm (Nasdaq: PALM) has been very successful is they`ve understood the needs of the market, and it`s focused. One of the possibilities in Palm is, if you look at their business, the Palm operating system is starting to become a really large and exciting operating system platform for all sorts of mobile devices. So there are really two businesses. There is the device hardware business, there is this other software business, and there`s even possibly a service opportunity with the wireless Palm V that they`re talking about."

In Chanda`s opinion, "SanDisk (Nasdaq: SNDK) is a very interesting company, because with all these digital devices, information needs to be stored digitally, and we need to be able to carry it around with us, so flash memory is becoming a very large, exciting application for a lot of these products."

He discusses the recent AOL (NYSE: AOL)/Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) merger. "I think it will be interesting because what AOL/Time Warner will do is accelerate the deployment of this market. One of the things that AOL has clearly wanted to do is become a player in the broadband market, and there is huge broadband content, even though it`s not understood the way necessarily that Time Warner does. So we think that it`s really going to accelerate the set-top box deployment market." This 174-page Robertson Stephens Tech 2000 Issue also includes:

Second, we are extremely efficient. Before going public, with less than 60 people we were able to create the technology and work hand-in hand with market giants to propose and establish what has become a new worldwide industry standard. "We are planning an aggressive public relations campaign that will articulate and build upon the company`s unique market position
and leverage the equity in its PanelLink(R) DVI brand.

      I expect a rise after Greenspan`s
announcement. I`ve been in on this stock since the early days, and this is just a typical pattern that occurs prior to Greenspan`s announcements, mostly due to market jitters. Once he announces the anticipated increase in interest rates, usually this stock gains ground.

Thursday March 30, 4:01 pm Eastern Time
      Company Press Release
Silicon Image Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire DVDO
Augments Digital Visual Interface -- DVI -- Technology Leadership With Digital TV and Video Processing Capability
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2000--Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG - news), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire DVDO Inc. (Campbell, Calif.), a privately-held provider of digital video processing semiconductors for the consumer electronics industry.

With this acquisition, Silicon Image extends its high-bandwidth Digital Visual Interface (DVI) technology leadership beyond the PC market and into emerging digital consumer electronics applications such as digital TVs, DVD players and set-top boxes for high-definition video.

The transaction will be accounted for as a purchase and is expected to become effective in the quarter ending June 30, 2000. Upon close of the acquisition, Silicon Image will issue Common Stock, currently estimated to total approximately 585,000 shares, in exchange for all outstanding shares and options of DVDO.

Dr. David Lee, president and CEO of Silicon Image, noted, ``We are excited about our company`s future prospects as we progress on our strategic roadmap. DVDO`s new digital video image processing capability is very synergistic with our DVI technology, and they have excellent engineering talent -- making this a logical and sound investment. DVDO`s products are targeted at suppliers of digital hosts and entertainment displays for the consumer electronics market, another mass market we have targeted with our new High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) capability for DVI.``

Silicon Image Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Steve Tirado noted, ``The PC and home entertainment markets are converging as PCs, Internet appliances and TVs are starting to share the same functionality. To capitalize on this trend, many OEMs are looking for ways to best leverage integrated, high-bandwidth digital solutions for hosts and displays in both markets. Silicon Image has established a strong presence in the PC market, where our PanelLink® technology is the leading DVI implementation. With the acquisition of DVDO and its all-digital video image processing technology for DVD players, digital TVs and digital set-top boxes, we are well positioned to extend our presence in the consumer electronics market as well.``

The acquisition of DVDO`s technology, technical expertise and intellectual property in digital video processing algorithms and semiconductor development, will enable Silicon Image to aggressively pursue the growing number of host and display applications in the consumer electronics market. According to market research firms Dataquest, DisplaySearch, and SRI, the market for PC hosts and displays is projected to reach 346 million units in 2002. With the addition of an anticipated 212-million unit market for consumer electronics devices in 2002, this represents a total addressable market of 558 million units in 2002 for Silicon Image.

Silicon Image plans to incorporate functionality from DVDO`s technology into its existing line of PanelLink products, enabling the company`s existing PC display customers to benefit from DVDO`s technology. DVDO`s employees will relocate to Silicon Image soon after the transaction is completed.

Du hast mich allerdings ein wenig neugierig gemacht, was Deine sonstigen
Werte betrifft.

Silicon Image Presents First Platinum Partnership Award to Credence Systems for Revolutionary
      PanelLink DVI Test Methodology

      SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2000--

Strategic partnership enabled Silicon Image to Bring Fastest Chip on the Motherboard to Market

Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today announced that it has
presented Credence Systems (Nasdaq:CMOS) with its first Platinum Partnership Award in recognition of Credence`s ongoing
cooperative efforts to develop creative gigabit test solutions for Silicon Image`s PanelLink(R) Digital Visual Interface (DVI)
chips. This development partnership has been key to Silicon Image`s ability to quickly bring its high-speed PanelLink chips to
market and into volume production with high quality. With a bandwidth of up to 5 gigabits/sec, Silicon Image`s PanelLink chip is
the fastest chip on the motherboard. PanelLink has become the leading implementation of the DVI interface, which is a critical
enabler of the emerging and rapidly growing digital display market.

Commenting on the unique relationship between the two companies, Silicon Image Vice President of Operations Jalil Shaikh
noted, "When we were developing our first PanelLink chip, there wasn`t a system on the market capable of testing a chip
operating at 2 gigabits/sec. Credence believed we had a unique product offering with broad market appeal, and they had the
foresight and willingness to help us develop new test methodologies to accommodate our high-speed chip. In fact, they were so
confident of our vision that they provided us with dedicated engineers and implemented a full-scale production/test program so
      we could test every chip."

Shaikh continued, "Their commitment has been unwavering, and we believe this close development collaboration benefits our
customers by enabling us to economically provide high-bandwidth solutions at the highest quality within the shortest timeframe.
As a result of this collaboration, Silicon Image has an extremely reliable product and has one of the industry`s lowest failure rates
as measured in ppms. This low failure rate has been one of the instrumental factors in enabling us to capture the lead position in
      the digital display market."

David Ranhoff, chief operating officer at Credence, commented, "We are pleased to receive this recognition from Silicon Image
for a partnership that has been mutually beneficial. Testing a high-bandwidth chip for the cost-sensitive PC market is a difficult
challenge. The inherent technical hurdles are complicated by the need to conduct the testing cost-effectively. If testing
expenditures increase, the cost of the chip will also rise--possibly pricing the chip out of the very mass markets it is designed to
address. To resolve this challenge, we took an untraditional approach--working together to quantify the data necessary to
synchronize the device and the tester. Specifically, this was achieved by approaching the instrumentation differently, conducting
highly precise tests and performing design tweaks that allowed us to gain access to the necessary data."

In addition to providing Silicon Image with dedicated engineers to address technical issues, Credence provided worldwide
resources for testing and support. As a fabless semiconductor manufacturer, Silicon Image outsources the testing of its chips to
various international test houses. In addition to having a Credence tester onsite for its own development purposes, Silicon Image
has its test subcontractors use Credence systems since they are the only ones that utilize the methodologies specific to testing
      Silicon Image`s PanelLink chips.

Both companies are committed to a strategic relationship with sharing of proprietary information such as technology and product
roadmaps, testing results and forecasts. This ongoing dialogue enables the companies to work in parallel, planning products while
taking the other partner`s roadmap into consideration.

      Hallo Silicon Image Fans,

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2000-- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG - news), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today reported financial results for the first fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2000. Revenue for the first quarter of 2000 was $10.1 million, a 33 percent increase over the $7.6 million reported in the previous quarter and a 149 percent increase over the $4.1 million reported in the comparable period in the prior year.

Pro-forma net income, excluding stock compensation and warrant expense, for the first quarter of 2000 was $642,000, or $0.02 per diluted share. This compares to a pro-forma net income of $608,000, or $0.02 per diluted share, for the previous quarter, and a pro-forma net loss of $239,000, or $0.05 per basic and diluted share, for the comparable quarter in 1999. This is the second sequential quarter of pro-forma net income.

Net loss for the first quarter of 2000 was $1.8 million, or $0.08 per basic and diluted share, compared to a net loss of $1.7 million, or $0.07 per basic and diluted share, in the previous quarter, and a loss of $1.6 million, or $0.35 per basic and diluted share, for the comparable quarter in 1999.

``As evidenced by key design wins, these excellent results reflect the increasing global adoption rate of the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) specification and broad market acceptance of our current product offerings,`` said David Lee, Silicon Image president and CEO. Silicon Image`s PanelLink® DVI implementation, now in its fourth generation, is widely integrated into the latest digital products on both the host and display sides of the market. Lee added, ``We recently announced that Compaq has selected our PanelLink receiver chip for use in their latest DVI-compliant flat panel displays. And Sony has designed our PanelLink chips into their new, bundled Smart Desktop VAIO L-series flat panel monitors targeted for consumers. With this Sony win, all of the major PC OEMs in Japan have now selected PanelLink as their digital interface of choice.``

``During the first quarter, we took multiple steps that strongly position us to penetrate the consumer electronics marketplace. First, we demonstrated the world`s first implementation of High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) for DVI. Second, we announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire DVDO, a privately held provider of digital video processing technology for the consumer electronics market,`` said Lee.

Silicon Image`s HDCP technology has widespread benefits for the PC and consumer electronics markets, where copyrighted or otherwise proprietary content, such as high-definition video, will soon be able to be viewed in the home over a protected digital interface. The Motion Picture Association and Hollywood studios, including Warner Brothers and Disney, have endorsed the work done by Silicon Image as enabling the transition to high-definition digital video content for consumer electronics products such as DVD players, set-top boxes, digital TVs and HDTVs. The combination of this new HDCP technology, along with the advanced digital image processing technology, intellectual property and experienced design team that will result from the acquisition of DVDO, will position Silicon Image for leadership in the emerging digital consumer electronics mass markets.

      viel Spaß,
      Blaidd:)

M.E. eine rein technische Reaktion. Werden wir bis zu den
      Ferien noch mehrfach erleben,(entsprechende Steigerungen
auch). Möglich, daß wir nochmal auf 40$ runtergehen. Dann

Silicon Image Ships 10 Millionth PanelLink Chip; Market Demand for Number-one Provider of DVI Solutions Continues Unabated

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Apr 25, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:
SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today
announced the shipment of its 10 millionth PanelLink(R) chip. Achieved less than
three years after the company`s first PanelLink shipment, this milestone
shipment was delivered to Compaq, also Silicon Image`s first major PanelLink
      customer.

PanelLink is the industry`s first and most widely adopted implementation of the
Digital Visual Interface (DVI) specification, which is based on Silicon Image`s
technology. PanelLink is a low-cost, high-bandwidth solution capable of
transmitting digital data at full speed over inexpensive copper wire--a critical
requirement for both commercial and consumer mass markets. Fabricated by TSMC
and production-tested by Credence test systems, Silicon Image`s PanelLink chips
are known for their consistent high quality and on-time delivery, with one of
the lowest defective parts per million (DPPM) rates in the industry.

Silicon Image Vice President of Operations Jalil Shaikh stated, "We are thrilled
to have achieved such a significant milestone in such a short period of time.
This order is testament to the rapid market acceptance of DVI for business and
consumer applications. Three years ago, analog interfaces were standard. With
the early support of visionary electronics manufacturers, the digital interface
has become a reality. As digital displays have begun to proliferate, the
industry is embracing DVI as the preferred means of connecting these displays
with PC hosts. Furthermore, they are selecting PanelLink as their DVI solution
      of choice."

The milestone order is also significant because it demonstrates that Silicon
Image has achieved its goal of equally proliferating PanelLink solutions on both
the host and display sides of the market. PC manufacturers were the first to
adopt PanelLink, followed by display manufacturers--who now account for
approximately half of Silicon Image`s revenues.

Dr. David Lee, Silicon Image president and CEO, stated, "We are grateful for the
support of our host and display customers, as well as our partners, who have
enabled us to achieve this milestone. Due to their commitment, we now have a
solid foundation on both the host and display sides of the market and are well
positioned to enter other mass markets that can benefit from our low-cost,
      high-bandwidth technology."

Silicon Image`s PanelLink Standardized On New All-in-one Computer

      SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2000--Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG), a leading provider of
high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today announced that IBM (NYSE:IBM) is incorporating Silicon Image`s SiI 151
PanelLink(R) receiver chip in all of its new NetVista X-40 all-in-one computers, which were introduced earlier this week.

Built for ease of use and occupation of minimal desk space, the NetVista X-40 all-in-one is the first IBM product to offer PanelLink
as a standard feature by embedding it into the application.

Commenting on the standardization of PanelLink, Steve Tirado, executive vice president of marketing and business development at
Silicon Image, noted, "We have enjoyed our long-standing collaboration with IBM since Silicon Image`s inception. IBM has been a
strong PanelLink supporter, having used PanelLink in a number of product categories. PanelLink is the industry-leading
implementation of the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard, which Silicon Image pioneered. As the benefits of digital displays
become more evident and DVI continues to proliferate, an increasing number of OEMs, such as IBM, are standardizing on
PanelLink for an all-digital display solution."

PanelLink has progressed from being an option in other IBM products to a standard feature in IBM`s NetVista X-40 all-in-one
computer. The NetVista X-40`s space-saving design includes a 15-inch, thin-film transistor (TFT) flat panel combined with
traditional desktop components that fit anywhere. When not in use, the CD-ROM and floppy drives tuck away under the display,
and the keyboard fits neatly under the screen. Available with a choice of hard drives up to 20 GB, the all-in-one does not trade off
space for powerful processing capability. This power translates into a speedy and easy connection through seven USB ports, which
      replace parallel and serial ports.

With the goal of providing a single, worldwide, open standard for all-digital display solutions, Silicon Image and IBM, together with
Intel, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, NEC and Fujitsu, founded the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG) in 1998. In April 1999, the
DDWG published the industry`s DVI specification, which is based on Silicon Image`s technology to promote a standard digital
interface that would facilitate the move to quality digital viewing.

Silicon Image`s transmitter and receiver chips are used throughout IBM`s Personal Systems Group to enable all-digital display
options. The SiI 151 is used in IBM`s digital flat panel display family, where it supports displays with resolutions ranging from VGA
to SXGA (25-112 Mpps). Other IBM products utilizing PanelLink digital solutions include IBM`s SurePoint(TM) solution and
      SurePOS(TM) point-of-sale products.

Ich zitiere: Something must be happening behind the scenes. Each time we have seen this type of volume a big design win was announced a week later or so. We are way over average daily trading volume. If this keeps up, we will be in the 60`s again soon!

PanelLink Inside Gateway`s New 18" Flat Panel Monitor; Gateway Demonstrates Commitment to DVI Solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 17, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Silicon Image, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions,
today announced that Gateway (NYSE:GTW) is incorporating Silicon Image`s
PanelLink(R) -- the industry`s leading Digital Visual Interface (DVI)
implementation -- in all of its new FPD1800 18-inch SXGA flat panel monitors.

The new Gateway flat panel monitor is the latest addition to Gateway`s growing
family of flat panel displays (FPDs), which also includes the 15-inch Gateway
FPD1500. Like its predecessor, the Gateway FPD1800 features a SiI 161 receiver,
which accepts digital input for seamless, all-digital compatibility.

Commenting on the design win, Steve Tirado, executive vice president of
marketing and business development at Silicon Image, noted, "Larger monitors are
becoming more popular with customers -- and FPDs, which occupy less desktop
space to begin with, are no exception to this growing trend. Gateway`s new
FPD1800 monitor offers customers significantly more viewing area and better
resolution than their 15-inch flat panel, and it is 100 percent digital."

Tirado added, "This win from a leading supplier of built-to-order PCs represents
another significant endorsement of the DVI specification and PanelLink
specifically. Customers around the globe are recognizing the benefits of digital
and demanding all-digital capability from their high-end monitors. Increasingly,
original equipment manufacturers like Gateway are turning to Silicon Image`s
PanelLink to address this increasing demand for digital displays."

Silicon Image`s commitment to digital is evidenced by its status as a founding
member of the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG), which it co-founded in 1998.
In April 1999, the DDWG published the industry`s DVI specification to promote a
standard digital interface that would facilitate the move to quality digital
viewing. The DVI specification is based on Silicon Image`s technology.

Silicon Image Announces Storage Market Initiatives; Acquires Zillion; Leverages Proven Price/Performance Leadership to Enable Another Mass Market

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2000--Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today unveiled its strategy for entering the data storage market. This move signals the company`s intent to enter its next mass market and the expansion of Silicon Image`s multi-layer integrated circuit (IC) technology to applications beyond the digital display arena -- the company`s initial market focus.

Commenting on this strategic move, Silicon Image`s President and CEO Dr. David Lee stated, "We are committed to broadening our technology reach and market focus by leveraging our core high-bandwidth, low-cost semiconductor technology to address additional mass markets that demand superior price/performance and robust bandwidth technology. We have been successful in the PC-display market, where we are enabling the transition from analog to digital displays with our high-bandwidth, low-cost PanelLink(R) semiconductor solutions. Having broken the $1/gigabit barrier, PanelLink is a defacto standard for digital displays with more than 10 million units shipped to date. By expanding the applications of this proven, robust, reduced overhead Multi-layer Serial Link (MSL) technology, we have the potential to pioneer the storage market`s transition from a parallel to a serial interface."

Silicon Image has defined a dual storage market strategy focused on the interconnect between the host system and storage devices. As storage capacity increases, the transmission rate between the hard disk and the host system becomes a gating factor. Initially, Silicon Image intends to address the system interface between the CPU and the internal hard disk, an area receiving increased attention by PC OEMs and disk manufacturers alike. A high-speed serial interface offers a logical and efficient alternative to the existing parallel interface.

Lee added, "Implementing high-speed, serial interconnect technology into electrically noisy and harsh PC environments is no easy feat. However, we believe Silicon Image is well positioned to assume a lead role in Serial ATA implementation. With our expertise implementing the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) on both the PC host and display sides of the link, we have a unique perspective on the challenges inherent with a PC interface. In addition, we have recently acquired top-notch expertise and experience in storage systems and related semiconductor design."

During the second quarter, Silicon Image acquired Zillion Technologies, a developer of high-speed transmission technology for data storage applications, to help execute the first prong of its storage strategy. Zillion contributed in drafting the preliminary Serial ATA specification. The Serial ATA Working Group is developing the specification and pursuing Serial ATA as a successor to parallel bus technology. Silicon Image is a contributor to the Working Group, which counts Intel Corp., leading PC manufacturers, disk drive manufacturers and an adapter manufacturer among its promoters. Zillion also developed the serialization and de-serialization logic for the Serial ATA prototype demonstrated at the February 2000 Intel Developer Forum. Silicon Image believes the cost of Serial ATA technology can ultimately be on par with today`s Parallel ATA technology, much as the cost of the digital display interface is comparable to analog.

The second element of Silicon Image`s storage strategy is the interface between host systems and external storage devices--a market growing faster than the internal storage market. This market growth is being fueled by the increased storage requirements for markets such as e-commerce and digital video editing/production, as well as storage area networks and network-attached storage. Initially, Silicon Image intends to apply its MSL architecture, which lies at the core of the company`s innovation, to storage area network fabrics. Silicon Image believes this approach to multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions will help achieve significant performance benefits and cost reductions. MSL includes a physical layer, coding layer and protocol layer--all on a single chip. Each of these layers is optimized for the particular application being addressed. By implementing the MSL architecture in low-cost CMOS technology, Silicon Image is able to deliver low-cost, high-bandwidth solutions for high-volume applications.

Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Silicon Image Reports 13th Consecutive Quarter of Record Revenues and First Quarter of Pro-Forma Income From Operations

      SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2000--

DVI adoption and PanelLink leadership drive record revenues and third sequential quarter of pro-forma net income

Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today reported financial results for the second fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2000. Revenue for the second quarter of 2000 was $12.4 million, a 23% increase over the $10.1 million reported in the previous quarter and a 194% increase over the $4.2 million reported for the comparable period the prior year.

Pro-forma net income, excluding stock compensation and warrant expense, for the second quarter of 2000 was $1.3 million, or $0.05 per diluted share. This compares to a pro-forma net income of $642,000, or $0.02 per diluted share, for the previous quarter and a pro-forma net loss of $772,000, or $0.13 per basic and diluted share, for the comparable quarter in 1999. This is the third sequential quarter of pro-forma net income and the first quarter of pro-forma income from operations.

Net loss for the second quarter of 2000 was $1.6 million, or $0.06 per basic and diluted share. This compared to a net loss of $1.8 million, or $0.08 per basic and diluted share, in the previous quarter and a loss of $2.3 million, or $0.38 per basic and diluted share, for the comparable quarter in 1999.

"We are pleased to report another strong quarter of record revenues with pro-forma net income from operations," noted Silicon Image CEO and President Dr. David Lee. "The Digital Visual Interface (DVI) market we pioneered, and continue to lead, gained momentum. Silicon Image benefited with a number of key design wins on both the host and display sides of the market."

During the quarter, PanelLink solutions were shipped to nine of the top ten PC OEMs. PanelLink continues to be the digital technology of choice for the market`s new all-in-one computers, as evidenced by Silicon Image`s most recent design win for IBM`s NetVista. In addition, Silicon Image now ships to all of its target display markets. On the digital CRT front, ViewSonic is now shipping the world`s first system, which is powered by PanelLink. Sony also announced its digital CRT roadmap -- further validating this market.

Lee added that Silicon Image also achieved several important milestones with regard to the company`s penetration into the consumer electronics market. "First, we announced our High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) chips, which pave the way for the Motion Picture Association to release high-definition content without fear of unauthorized duplication." Four Hollywood studios now support HDCP for DVI as a means of ensuring content protection for their high-definition video. Consumer electronics manufacturers are following suit, with JVC the first to announce that it is moving forward with HDCP-enabled devices -- in this case a digital VHS player.

Just after the end of the quarter, Silicon Image finalized the previously announced acquisition of DVDO, a provider of digital video processing technology for the consumer electronics market. The addition of DVDO`s technology, intellectual property and engineering talent will position Silicon Image to capitalize on the demand for secure, high-bandwidth, integrated, all-digital semiconductor solutions for consumer electronics products. In the second quarter, Silicon Image acquired Zillion Technologies, a developer of high-speed transmission technology for data storage applications. This acquisition signifies Silicon Image`s intent to enter the high-speed interface segment of the storage market, another mass-market opportunity that can benefit from high-bandwidth solutions at a low cost.

Silicon Image also announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a two-for-one stock split, to be effected in the form of a stock dividend. The record date for the stock split will be July 28, and thereafter, on or about August 18, the transfer agent will mail certificates representing one additional share for each share held on this record date. Based on shares outstanding as of July 10, 2000, the stock split will increase the number of shares outstanding from approximately 26.7 million to 53.4 million shares.

Silicon Image (SIMG) erwirtschaftete im 1Q 0,05 Dollar (i.Vj. 0,02 Dollar) pro Aktie.

      Verfahren verhindert illegales Kopieren.

Set-top-Boxen (geschätzter weltweiter Absatz in diesem Jahr 28 Millionen Stück),

Silicon Image Enters Storage Market With Multi-rate SerDes Capable of Operating At Up to 3.125 Gbps; MSLPhy SerDes First to Meet Second-Generation Serial ATA Bandwidth Requirements

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug 21, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:
SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today
      unveiled its new multi-rate MSLPhy(TM) Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes)
technology capable of operating at bandwidths from 1.0625 to 3.125 gigabits/sec.
With this versatility, the MSLPhy SerDes is capable of meeting multiple
standards in the storage and networking markets, including Serial ATA, Fibre
Channel, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand(SM). Implemented in standard 0.25
micron CMOS, the MSLPhy SerDes is also particularly well suited to meet the
needs of the PC and consumer electronics (CE) mass markets. Combined with
Silicon Image`s Serial ATA demonstration tomorrow, this announcement marks the
company`s formal entry into data storage, another mass market with aggressive
      bandwidth price/performance requirements.

Commenting on the decision to target the storage market with this SerDes
technology, Dr. David Lee, president and CEO of Silicon Image, noted that it is
a logical progression given Silicon Image`s expertise and the requirement for a
Serial ATA solution. "Like the display market, the storage market requires
high-bandwidth, low-cost semiconductor solutions in high volume. The Serial ATA
market segment in particular requires a high-speed, serial interface capable of
operating in noisy PC and CE environments. In this respect, it is remarkably
similar to the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) incorporated in PC hosts and
digital displays. Silicon Image has a proven track record implementing robust,
serial links in noisy environments, as evidenced by our DVI market penetration
with more than 10 million PanelLink(R) units shipped to date."

The unabated demand for greater bandwidth is necessitating increases in SerDes
speed -- a trend that is evident in the storage and networking markets. As a
result, several new standards mandating a higher-speed serial connection have
emerged. The MSLPhy SerDes provides a high-speed, serial, point-to-point link
between devices. In the storage market, the soon-to-be-finalized Serial ATA
specification mandates first-generation speeds of 1.5 Gbps and second-generation
speeds of 3.0 Gbps, both of which are supported by Silicon Image`s MSLPhy
SerDes. According to Gartner/Dataquest, Serial ATA represents a 100 million-unit
      market opportunity in 2003.

In addition, the MSLPhy SerDes supports bandwidths of 1.0625 Gbps and 2.125
Gbps, positioning Silicon Image to assist in the storage industry`s transition
to next-generation Fibre Channel speed. Beyond storage, Silicon Image`s SerDes
supports 1.25, 2.5 and 3.125 Gbps requirements for Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand
      and 10 Gigabit Ethernet specifications.

Lee noted that Silicon Image is delivering on its value proposition to provide
high-bandwidth at a cost low enough for mass-market adoption. "Our new
multi-rate SerDes technology is designed to provide cutting-edge, multi-gigabit
speed to the average consumer. This technology can meet both the Serial ATA and
Fibre Channel SerDes requirements for the storage market -- providing a one-stop
shop for high-speed storage SerDes. In Serial ATA, we are leapfrogging the
first-generation bandwidth requirement, delivering next-generation technology
prior to finalization of the initial specification," stated Lee. "In addition,
we have the expertise required to assume a leadership position as evidenced by
our Serial ATA demo being showcased at our `Birds of a Feather` session at the
Fall Intel Developer Forum. We now have a very compelling reason for storage
manufacturers to evaluate our storage offering."

The MSLPhy SerDes leverages much of the circuit innovation at the physical layer
of Silicon Image`s proprietary reduced overhead Multi-layer Serial Link
      (MSL(TM)) architecture. Silicon Image`s market-leading PanelLink implementation
of the DVI standard for the PC/display market is based on this MSL architecture,
      which is a multi-layered approach to providing a cost-effective, multi-gigabit
semiconductor solution on a single chip.

Silicon Image`s new SerDes offers high speed in a low-cost, robust design -- a
critical combination for high-volume, mass markets. MSLPhy leverages Silicon
Image`s expertise propagating PanelLink semiconductor solutions into the digital
display market and supporting numerous PC OEM customers with their PanelLink
implementations. Implemented through standard CMOS manufacturing and plastic
packaging, MSLPhy is a low-cost solution for the storage market and other future
mass markets with aggressive price/performance requirements.

Silicon Image reports that engineering samples are currently available for
strategic development partners, with sampling targeted for Q1 2001.

The Serial ATA market segment in particular requires a high-speed, serial interface capable of operating in noisy PC and CE environments. In this respect, it is remarkably similar to the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) incorporated in PC hosts and digital displays. Silicon Image has a proven track record implementing robust, serial links in noisy environments, as evidenced by our DVI market penetration with more than 10 million PanelLink(R) units shipped to date."

The unabated demand for greater bandwidth is necessitating increases in SerDes speed -- a trend that is evident in the storage and networking markets. As a result, several new standards mandating a higher-speed serial connection have emerged. The MSLPhy SerDes provides a high-speed, serial, point-to-point link between devices. In the storage market, the soon-to-be-finalized Serial ATA specification mandates first-generation speeds of 1.5 Gbps and second-generation speeds of 3.0 Gbps, both of which are supported by Silicon Image`s MSLPhy SerDes. According to Gartner/Dataquest, Serial ATA represents a 100 million-unit market opportunity in 2003.

In addition, the MSLPhy SerDes supports bandwidths of 1.0625 Gbps and 2.125 Gbps, positioning Silicon Image to assist in the storage industry`s transition to next-generation Fibre Channel speed. Beyond storage, Silicon Image`s SerDes supports 1.25, 2.5 and 3.125 Gbps requirements for Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand and 10 Gigabit Ethernet specifications.

Lee noted that Silicon Image is delivering on its value proposition to provide high-bandwidth at a cost low enough for mass-market adoption. "Our new multi-rate SerDes technology is designed to provide cutting-edge, multi-gigabit speed to the average consumer. This technology can meet both the Serial ATA and Fibre Channel SerDes requirements for the storage market -- providing a one-stop shop for high-speed storage SerDes. In Serial ATA, we are leapfrogging the first-generation bandwidth requirement, delivering next-generation technology prior to finalization of the initial specification," stated Lee. "In addition, we have the expertise required to assume a leadership position as evidenced by our Serial ATA demo being showcased at our `Birds of a Feather` session at the Fall Intel Developer Forum. We now have a very compelling reason for storage manufacturers to evaluate our storage offering."

The MSLPhy SerDes leverages much of the circuit innovation at the physical layer of Silicon Image`s proprietary reduced overhead Multi-layer Serial Link (MSL(TM)) architecture. Silicon Image`s market-leading PanelLink implementation of the DVI standard for the PC/display market is based on this MSL architecture, which is a multi-layered approach to providing a cost-effective, multi-gigabit semiconductor solution on a single chip.

Silicon Image`s new SerDes offers high speed in a low-cost, robust design -- a critical combination for high-volume, mass markets. MSLPhy leverages Silicon Image`s expertise propagating PanelLink semiconductor solutions into the digital display market and supporting numerous PC OEM customers with their PanelLink implementations. Implemented through standard CMOS manufacturing and plastic packaging, MSLPhy is a low-cost solution for the storage market and other future mass markets with aggressive price/performance requirements.

Silicon Image reports that engineering samples are currently available for strategic development partners, with sampling targeted for Q1 2001.

Silicon Image`s PanelLink Captures Additional All-in-One Design Wins for Hitachi LCD PC

      SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2000--

SiI 851 Design Win Demonstrates Growing Market Penetration for PanelLink(R) Integrated Display Products

Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq:SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced that its PanelLink(R) technology has again been selected as the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) solution of choice by another all-in-one PC OEM -- Hitachi, Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan). Hitachi`s Prius 300R is marketed as a sleek, low-cost liquid crystal display (LCD) PC. The new system features both a PanelLink SiI 851 monitor controller and SiI 164 transmitter for a complete, end-to-end digital solution.

"We chose Silicon Image over the competition because they offered the right integrated feature set at an economical price, enabling Hitachi to aggressively target the growing market for low-cost, all-in-one PC systems. Having manufactured their DVI-compliant solutions in volume quantities for several years, Silicon Image has a proven track record for quality and reliability in the PC space," stated Hideyuki Washiyama, Internet Systems Platform Division senior engineer for Hitachi. "They are also the only company in production with a reliable, integrated, DVI-compliant scaling solution."

According to Jon Kiachian, director of product marketing for Silicon Image, the design wins are indicative of the growing momentum in the all-in-one market and PanelLink`s suitability for these systems. "The PC market is undergoing a paradigm shift. Customers are demanding fully integrated, front-to-back solutions offering impressive digital performance in a streamlined form factor at a very reasonable price. Silicon Image is well positioned to capitalize on this market opportunity with proven solutions at both ends of the DVI link." Kiachian added, "With its price/performance advantage, PanelLink is ideal for this latest generation of computing solutions. Integrated solutions such as our monitor controller offer all-in-one manufacturers another means of controlling costs and bringing these systems into mass production."

Silicon Image`s SiI 851 is an integrated monitor controller that provides all the necessary functions required for a high-end, pure digital SXGA or XGA flat panel monitor. As a single-chip solution, the SiI 851 lowers overall cost, increases reliability, occupies less board space and simplifies design and layout. The SiI 851 includes a PanelLink receiver, programmable On Screen Display (OSD) block, clock multiplier, power management capabilities and a number of high-quality PixelPrecision(TM) image-processing features, including scaling, dithering and gamma, color temperature and contrast control.

A key factor in the decision to incorporate the SiI 164 transmitter was its compatibility with Intel`s DVO 12-bit graphic interface, which was jointly defined by Intel and Silicon Image. The SiI 164 transmitter offers scalable bandwidth -- supporting displays ranging from VGA to UXGA resolutions (25-165 Mhz) in a single-link interface. The SiI 164 also features a low voltage, highly flexible interface with 12-bit or 24-bit clock input for true color (16.7 million) support.

These design wins are the latest in a series of all-in-one wins for Silicon Image`s PanelLink Digital technology. Recently, Silicon Image also announced that PanelLink has been standardized on Sun Microsystems` new Sun Ray(TM) information appliance and IBM`s NetVista X-40 all-in-one computer.

The Hitachi Prius 300R LCD PC featuring PanelLink Digital has been released into production and is expected to begin shipping in the fourth quarter of this year.

Silicon Image Breaks Into Notebook Panel Market With Samsung Design Win For New Integrated Panel Controller Chip

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced that it has entered the market for notebook flat panels with its first integrated panel controller (IPC) design win from Samsung Electronics (Kihung, Korea). Silicon Image`s new SiI(TM) 221(TM) chip will be incorporated in a 14"-inch SXGA notebook flat panel, while Silicon Image`s new SiI 223(TM) chip will be incorporated in a 17"-inch SXGA+ desktop flat panel. Both chips are based on low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) technology -- signifying the expansion of Silicon Image`s display product portfolio to include the common digital interface standard in the notebook flat-panel domain.

According to San Jose, Calif.-based market research firm Stanford Resources, the demand for SXGA/SXGA+ notebook PCs will increase from 577,000 units in 2000 to 17.6 million units by 2004. During the same timeframe, the demand for SXGA/SXGA+ desktop monitors is projected to increase from 848,000 units to 9.6 million units. "Evidence of the rapid adoption of high resolution displays in desktop monitors and notebook PCs is illustrated in these numbers. Pixels are no longer a scarce commodity in the display business. Specifically, we anticipate that a direct result of the current bandwidth explosion will be a huge increase in high resolution displays ?- essentially pixels will become plentiful," noted David E. Mentley, senior vice president, Stanford Resources.

"Silicon Image already supplies us with transmitter and receiver products, and they offered us a compelling reason to outsource the panel controllers for our latest notebook and desktop panels as well," stated Jun H. Souk, vice president of Samsung`s LCD R&D, AMLCD Division. "Not only are Silicon Image`s IPC solutions easy to implement in our advanced panel designs, but they also offer valuable space and cost savings through integration of the receiver and timing controller functions. Equally important, Silicon Image has demonstrated its commitment to delivering these products on time and with the high quality, reliability and performance we require."

"Silicon Image`s Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Steve Tirado noted, "Silicon Image is the leading supplier of Digital Visual Interface (DVI) solutions to PC OEMs and desktop flat panel display manufacturers with more than 10 million units shipped to date. With this milestone design win, we have broadened our range of display solutions by supplying ICs for the notebook flat panel display market as well. Additionally, we have now penetrated all of our target display markets, including desktop and notebook flat panels, projectors, HDTVs and digital CRTs. This is yet another example of Silicon Image`s ability to broaden our served markets and execute our corporate strategy."

Silicon Image worked closely with Samsung to develop a highly integrated panel controller meeting Samsung`s stringent requirements. Silicon Image`s SiI 221 and SiI 223 are the first dual-channel LVDS integrated receivers to support both 1280x1040 (SXGA) and 1400x1050 (SXGA+) resolutions. Highly programmable, the IPC chips support multiple column and row drivers for design integration flexibility. The IPCs, essentially the "brains" of the flat panels, are located directly on the panels. IPCs save valuable space on the panel by integrating receiver and timing controller functionality into a single chip.

Silicon Image Ships 15 Millionth PanelLink(R) Chip

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced the shipment of its 15 millionth PanelLink(R) chip -- the market-leading implementation of the industry`s Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard used to connect digital host and display devices. This milestone shipment, delivered to Samsung, was achieved less than six months after Silicon Image shipped its 10 millionth PanelLink chip earlier this year.

Silicon Image President and CEO Dr. David Lee noted that the rapid rate at which this milestone was achieved reflects the accelerated penetration of PanelLink in the marketplace. "We first began shipping PanelLink chips in 1997 and achieved our 10 millionth shipment milestone in less than three years. Shipments during the most recent six-month period represent one-third of all of the PanelLink units shipped-indicating that DVI adoption, and specifically PanelLink penetration, is gaining momentum."

Jalil Shaikh, Silicon Image executive vice president of operations and information technology, stated, "This milestone is particularly significant given our consistent track record of shipping high-quality chips on time and with defect rates among the lowest in the industry. The strong relationships we maintain with our manufacturing, testing and packaging partners have been key to our ability to consistently meet customer demand." Shaikh added, "Our DVI implementations have been acknowledged for their robustness and offer proven performance in noisy PC environments. While our competitors are focused on low-bandwidth first or second-generation solutions, we`re working on our fifth-generation products that integrate additional functionality onto chips operating at speeds up to 5.0 Gbps for UXGA resolutions."

Having been incorporated in products by all of the top 10 PC OEMs and top 10 display manufacturers, PanelLink is the industry`s first and most widely adopted implementation of the DVI specification, which is based on Silicon Image`s technology. The Digital Display Working Group (DDWG), consisting of Intel, Compaq, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, NEC and Silicon Image, introduced the DVI specification in April 1999.

PanelLink is the only end-to-end solution addressing both the host and display sides of the DVI link. Key to PanelLink`s price/performance advantage is its proprietary reduced overhead Multi-layer Serial Link (MSL(TM)) architecture, which includes a physical layer, coding layer and protocol layer on a single chip. Each of these layers is optimized for the particular application being addressed.

Silicon Image Honors TSMC With Platinum Partnership Award for Foundry Manufacturing Excellence

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced that it has honored Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE: TSMC) (Hsin-Chu, Taiwan) with its Platinum Partnership Award. This award recognizes TSMC`s role as a valuable strategic partner in the manufacture of Silicon Image`s flagship high-bandwidth, low-cost PanelLink(R) integrated circuits (ICs) for digital display applications.

The foundry partnership between the two companies dates back to 1996. More than 15 million PanelLink ICs, which operate at speeds up to 5 Gbps using TSMC`s standard 0.35-micron mixed-signal CMOS process, have been shipped to PC OEMs and display manufacturers to date.

"We are honored to receive this recognition of our foundry capabilities and our strong internal support organization," said Dr. Edward C. Ross, president of TSMC North America. "It is gratifying to see Silicon Image achieve the vision they have for the future of digital display technology, and we are pleased to play a role in their success. This is an example of our high-volume manufacturing technology, strong quality control and comprehensive support at their best."

"TSMC has been a true partner in every sense of the word," said Jalil Shaikh, executive vice president of operations and information technology for Silicon Image. "As a fabless company designing and marketing high-bandwidth, low-cost semiconductor solutions, we rely heavily on TSMC to translate our advanced circuit designs into chips meeting our rigorous price and performance criteria in production volumes. However, our relationship goes far beyond that. TSMC has provided Silicon Image with exceptional support across the board and at all levels of the organization, including customer service, cycle times, capacity and pricing."

Shaikh added, "Early on, TSMC had the foresight to share our vision and support us in our manufacturing effort. This was at a time when the concept of manufacturing even a 1 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) chip using CMOS technology was considered by many to be impossible. We have thoroughly qualified their process and are extremely confident in its stability and reliability. TSMC is a valuable strategic partner in our effort to deliver the benefits of high-bandwidth, serial technology to the masses at an affordable price."

Every six months, the two companies meet to share technology developments and roadmaps, as well as forecast demand and required capacity. Silicon Image has a similar relationship with its test partner, Credence Systems, who also received a Platinum Partnership Award from Silicon Image earlier this year.

      About TSMC

(Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI), a leading supplier of communications chips and storage network solutions, and Molex Inc. (Nasdaq: MOLX, MOLXA), a global electronic components company, today announced the availability of an emerging connectivity standard called Universal Docking Solution (UDS) that makes possible the synergistic utilization of USB, Split Bridge(TM), Digital Visual Interface (DVI) and analog video through a single multi-functional interface.

UDS is significant because it addresses the single biggest challenge in the mobile computing industry -- how to increase hardware`s portability without sacrificing functionality. UDS eliminates this design tradeoff by combining leading industry connectivity technologies into a standard interface. Specifically, UDS combines USB, Split Bridge, DVI and analog connections in a way that provides a wide range of benefits to manufacturers, end users and IT managers, including lower cost, greater flexibility and broad compatibility.

"UDS is the first solution that truly solves the mobile computing industry`s `docking` problem," said Charlie Mollo, president and CEO of Mobility Electronics. "Because UDS offers so much connectivity technology in a single interface, it has the potential to liberate hardware manufacturers from traditional configurations and lead to a fundamental shift in the way computers and peripherals are designed."

UDS can replace the current array of proprietary mechanical docking connectors on the back of portable computers with a single interface, essentially enabling the conversion of mobile computers to full desktop functionality and capability. UDS also enables a new category of hardware called "hybrid" peripherals. With UDS, traditional peripherals can evolve from single-function products, like CD-RWs, into multi-functional devices incorporating features such as Ethernet, USB and monitor connectivity in addition to their core functionalities. For instance, a peripheral can combine the features of a flat panel display with the connectivity of a full port replicator, and a Zip(R) drive can also contain extra expansion slots for the addition of PCI sound and video cards.

"We are pleased to assume a driver role with Mobility Electronics and the other participants in making UDS a reality for mobile computing," said Steve Tirado, executive vice president of marketing and business development for Silicon Image. "By incorporating as part of its standard connection the popular DVI interconnect based on Silicon Image`s PanelLink protocol, UDS will provide an ideal vehicle for expanding DVI across PC platforms and into the notebook market." Tirado added, "This could provide the impetus for notebook manufacturers to offer DVI-out capability, enabling mobile computing users to optimize their viewing experiences by hooking their laptops up to the latest digital projectors and desktop monitors."

"Hardware manufacturers are looking for connectivity technology that offers high performance and state-of-the art interoperability," said Bruce Entin, vice president and general manager of LSI Logic`s Internet Computing Division. "UDS embodies each of these characteristics and will increase hardware portability without sacrificing functionality."

"This coalition has created a well thought out and demonstrable universal docking solution that the mobile computing industry has been looking for," said Gary Manchester, group product manager at Molex. "We are very excited to be part of this important program and to work with Mobility and the other partners to develop this technology into a standard for the mobile computing industry. Molex has prototype product shipping now and we are anxious to work with customers on their specific interconnect needs."

For computer manufacturers, UDS lowers the costs involved in producing a "dock-ready" system and creates a unified docking strategy across all portable computers. UDS also provides superior design flexibility, enabling a much wider variety of "docking" options for end users and providing a viable upgrade path for low-cost PCs.

Additionally, UDS gives peripheral developers, such as drive and monitor manufacturers, the ability to substantially differentiate their products with additional functionality while cost effectively addressing real end user needs. For IT managers, UDS eliminates the inventory and support hassles associated with managing a large number of proprietary docks. UDS also makes it possible for IT managers to standardize peripheral support, which can be a time-intensive task.

Major OEMs, including Innolabs and ASUS, two prominent Taiwanese manufacturers of computers and motherboards, have already signed agreements to make UDS a standard feature on new computer models. These ASUS and Innolabs computers will begin shipping in early- to mid-2001.

Silicon Images sees lower than expected Q4

SUNNYVALE, Calif, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Silicon Image Inc <SIMG.O> on Wednesday said it expects fourth-quarter revenue to be eight to 10 percent lower than the $14.5 million in revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2000.

This would be up about 70 percent from the year ago quarter, which was $7.6 million. The company now expects to be about breakeven on a pro-forma basis for the fourth quarter. Analysts polled by First Call estimated the company would report earnings of about one cent a share.

Silicon Image cited a slowdown in demand for PCs and associated displays as reasons for its new expectations.

Should there be no further deterioration in these markets, it said it expects revenues in the first quarter of 2001 to be flat or slightly up from the fourth quarter of 2000.

The company expects year-over-year revenue growth for 2001 to be in the range of 60-70 percent. Silicon Image had previously stated it expected fourth-quarter revenue to grow sequentially in the ten to low teens percentage range and 2001 year-over-year revenue growth to be 70 percent or slightly higher. Silicon Image currently plans to announce final results after the market closes on January 25, 2001.

RESEARCH ALERT-CSFB cuts Silicon Image estimates

NEW YORK, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston analyst Charlie Glavin said on Thursday that he lowered his fourth-quarter and 2001 estimates for Silicon Image Inc. <SIMG.O> after the company warned revenues would be lower than the previous quarter.

Glavin lowered fourth-quarter earnings per share by a penny to nil from one cent and also cut his 2001 earnings outlook to one cent from seven cents.

The cut comes a day after the company preannounced that fourth-quarter revenues would decline 8 to 10 percent quarter over quarter and that earnings per share would be about breakeven due to a slowdown in personal computer demand.

"We were previously looking for revenue of $16.1 million and earnings per share of one cent," Glavin said in a research note. "Weak demand for PCs and flat panel displays were cited as the culprits."

"However, we believe a bright spot for (Silicon Image) was its exposure to the consumer Japanese market, which was a pocket of strength, and has provided some cushion to the overall softened demand," Glavin said.

Shares of Silicon Imaging closed on Wednesday at $8-5/16 on the Nasdaq, just above a year low of $5 and below a 52-week high of $66.

New iScan(TM) Pro From Silicon Image Takes Standard TV to Cinema Quality For Videophiles Worldwide

LAS VEGAS, CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today unveiled the iScan(TM) Pro, a multi-system line doubler/upconverter for the home videophile, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2001 in Las Vegas. Utilizing Silicon Image`s world- class video-processing technology, the iScan Pro supports a wide array of TVs and monitors and all major international video standards -- bringing extremely affordable, near High-Definition TV (HDTV) quality images to the worldwide home theater market.

Building on the success of the company`s NTSC(1)-compatible iScan Plus V2 in North America, the iScan Pro dramatically increases video image resolution for PAL(2) and SECAM(3) formatted video as well -- enabling consumers in Europe, Australia and Asia to also benefit from its ability to convert standard interlaced video input from DVD, video tape, laser disc and satellite broadcast television into a near high-definition, progressive scan signal for less than $1,000. This price-point is more than 50 percent less than competitive offerings with similar capabilities, enabling the iScan to uniquely fill a growing market need.

Commenting on the introduction, Michael Kelley, Silicon Image`s vice president of marketing and business development, noted, "We`re excited to bring the iScan`s award-winning capabilities to the worldwide home theater market with the introduction of the iScan Pro. Because the iScan Pro is compatible with all major worldwide video standards, we are able to offer consumers around the world incredible image clarity and color fidelity -- creating a truly memorable viewing experience for even the most action-packed movies. Continuing the iScan tradition of unparalleled price/performance, consumers can optimize their DVD movies or other video sources without spending a small fortune."

Featuring Silicon Image`s SiI(TM) 503(TM) digital video processor, the iScan Pro provides a compelling, user-friendly alternative for consumers seeking to cost-effectively maximize video performance on standard-definition TVs and HDTVs that are compatible with 480p inputs. The iScan Pro upconverts any NTSC, PAL or SECAM input video signal to a high-quality progressive signal, offering twice the vertical resolution while eliminating motion and time-based artifacts, such as jagged edges and flicker.

The iScan Pro offers new picture controls that are unavailable on the iScan Plus V2. Brightness, contrast, saturation, hue and sharpness adjustments have been added, allowing the user the option of adjusting the video output for optimum picture quality on their particular display. The addition of component video input to the existing S-video and composite video inputs enables the iScan Pro to accept the highest quality interlaced video signal from a DVD player. Outputs include selectable progressive RGB and component (YPbPr).

As with the iScan Plus, the engine driving the iScan Pro`s upconversion consists of advanced motion-adaptive and source-adaptive processors that convert the incoming video stream from 50 or 60 interlaced fields per second to the same number of progressively scanned frames per second. In addition to offering the fastest and most accurate film detection available, the iScan Pro is also able to recognize video sequences that were originally created as computer graphics or 30-frame-per-second animation. Advanced Source Transition Management technology delivers the best picture quality for broadcast TV material. The iScan Pro can also horizontally compress a 4:3 image into a 16:9 frame, allowing it to be used with HDTV sets that are unable to perform this aspect ratio conversion on their own. Price & Availability

For the North American market, the iScan Pro is Silicon Image`s high-end line doubler offering, while it is the primary offering for Europe, Australia and Asia. The iScan Pro is currently available through home theater and professional AV distribution channels at a suggested retail price of $899.

Editors interested in scheduling briefings to learn more about Silicon Image and the benefits of DVI/HDCP may contact Stacey Voorhees at MCA at 650-968-8900 x108.

CE Industry Heavyweights Proclaim DVI HDCP as the Interface for HDTV - Further Propelling Silicon Image Into the CE Space

LAS VEGAS, CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced that it will showcase prototype digital set-top boxes, digital VHS players and HDTVs featuring premium, high-definition Hollywood studio content during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. These breakthrough consumer electronics devices are enabled by Digital Visual Interface (DVI) technology with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), which elevates the home entertainment experience to unprecedented levels by allowing consumers to view first-rate Hollywood movies in high-definition formats without leaving their living room.

High-definition (HD) consumer electronics devices showcased in Silicon Image`s booth at CES (LVCC South 1-2 #3817) will include digital set-top boxes from Echostar, Scientific Atlanta and Samsung. In addition, a prototype D-VHS player from JVC will play high-definition premium digital content from Universal Studios and Fox that has not been released to VHS or DVD-some of which is currently playing in theaters around the country. D-VHS is a new breed of VCR that is all digital and capable of playing HD-formatted videotapes.

Andrew G. Setos, executive vice president of the Fox News Technology Group, said, "The entire Twentieth Century Fox library of motion pictures and our future productions released in digital, high-resolution formats will represent a whole new viewing experience on widescreen digital TVs. Up until now, few motion pictures have been available in consumers` homes in this high-quality form. We look forward to making our motion pictures widely available using new consumer electronics devices such as D-VHS and digital set-top boxes as these products begin to embrace DVI output connections that only transmit HDCP content to displays for an all-digital, high-resolution experience."

Consumers prefer HD content, which has dramatically better image quality than that currently offered by DVDs. Major motion picture studios such as Fox, Universal and Warner Bros. have movies in HD formats that consumers will want to rent or purchase for viewing on their HDTVs or home theater projection systems. Until the advent of HDCP for DVI, studios have been reluctant to release this premium digital content for fear of unauthorized reproduction and distribution of perfect digital copies. By encrypting premium HD video between digital consumer electronics host and display devices, DVI with HDCP provides an effective defense against piracy, while providing the home viewer with the highest quality visual experience. Paving the way for the release of this content, satellite broadcasters and consumer electronics manufacturers have indicated their support for HDCP and willingness to incorporate DVI with HDCP in their products.

Silicon Image`s PanelLink(R) is the leading DVI implementation-having proven its robustness in high-volume mass markets with more than 15 million units shipped. DVI is the only digital interface with enough bandwidth to accommodate uncompressed high-definition digital video. Lower bandwidth alternatives must first compress the video before transferring it to a digital display, which requires additional components-including an MPEG decoder in the TV. Furthermore, HDCP, which has been endorsed by Fox, Universal, Warner Bros. and Disney, is only available over the DVI link.

Jerry Pierce, senior vice president, Universal Pictures, said, "High-definition movies will offer consumers the ultimate in a home theater experience. DVI ensures the highest quality image in a home system. HDCP provides a secure environment that offers content providers the necessary protection for the HD format. Systems that require HDCP can expect the highest quality content in the future."

Kazuo Kohda, general manager of digital strategy, JVC AV & Multimedia Company, noted, "JVC is planning to adopt DVI with HDCP as an output connection for pre-recorded D-VHS content in the future. We believe that high-definition uncompressed digital signals are essential to providing the highest quality home-viewing experience for consumers. DVI/HDCP is the only practical, secure solution today for those uncompressed digital connections and will be essential when transmitting high-value, high-definition content. Likewise, we will aggressively pursue the adoption of DVI/HDCP inputs on all future high-definition displays."

Michael Harney, corporate vice president and general manager of Scientific-Atlanta`s Subscriber Networks said, "As a leading supplier of set-top boxes for cable operators, Scientific-Atlanta is at the forefront of technology that will enable cable operators to deliver the best possible entertainment content to their customers. The DVI digital connection with HDCP copy protection fits this strategy, and we are pleased to work with Silicon Image to provide a demonstration of this technology on our Explorer(R) 8000HD high-definition set-top box."

Because it is a high-bandwidth, all-digital solution, DVI offers new possibilities for home entertainment system architecture, which were previously unavailable. DVI has the bandwidth to address each pixel in a digital TV display individually-enabling the highest possible picture quality. This is achieved without concern that the internal electronics will be made obsolete by changing interface or compression technologies.

Steve Tirado, chief operating officer for Silicon Image, noted, "HDTV represents the next revolution in home entertainment, and DVI with HDCP is the logical choice for the last critical connection between digital hosts, such as D-VHS players and set-top boxes, and digital TVs. We are thrilled to see so many examples of consumer electronics products featuring DVI/HDCP at CES. Once consumers see premium high-definition content on an HDTV and experience its unparalleled visual quality, we don`t think they will want to go back to the status quo. In order for HDTV adoption to really take off, the industry needs to rally around a new standard. Key players at all levels of the HDTV supply chain, including consumer electronics manufacturers, satellite broadcasters and Hollywood studios, have already endorsed DVI with HDCP, bringing us all a step closer to more widespread proliferation of HDTV."

Silicon Image was the first to demonstrate HDCP technology in February 2000 when Intel introduced the HDCP specification for DVI. In June 2000, Silicon Image introduced the first HDCP-compliant transmitter and monitor controller.

Silicon Image will be exhibiting at its booth LVCC South 1-2 #3817 during CES, held January 6-9, 2001, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Editors interested in scheduling briefings to learn more about Silicon Image and the benefits of DVI/HDCP may contact Stacey Voorhees at MCA at 650-968-8900, ext. 108.

Silicon Image First to Couple Digital Audio and Video on the DVI Link

Debut of New Chipset Paves the Way for Premium High-Definition Content in the Living Room

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today took a significant step forward in the effort to bring high-definition (HD) Hollywood studio content directly to consumers with the introduction of audio capability on the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) link. The SiI(TM) 190(TM) PanelLink(R) transmitter and SiI 991(TM) PanelLink receiver are the first semiconductor chips to couple digital audio and video data in a single, secure, all-digital interface capable of supporting uncompressed HD content. The SiI 190 transmitter is designed for an array of consumer electronics (CE) host devices, including set-top boxes, DVD players, D-VHS players and game consoles, while the SiI 991 receiver is compatible with CRT, LCD, plasma and DLP-based HDTVs and projectors.

Dave Kummer, vice president of engineering at EchoStar`s DISH Network, said, "EchoStar invests heavily in constantly improving our network and delivering the best entertainment services to our customers. DVI with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) will be a key component in future high-definition set-top boxes that implement advanced features. Furthermore, since we first became aware of DVI and HDCP, we believe the ability to transmit and receive digital audio data over the same uncompressed digital link as the video data would make the solution even more robust. EchoStar is pleased to know that Silicon Image is addressing this need, and we are excited at the prospect of offering integrated digital audio functionality over the DVI link to our customers in the future."

Frank Romeo, director of the DTV Strategy Group for Samsung Electronics Corporation, said, "We are pleased that Silicon Image has taken DVI to the next level and has addressed the need to transmit and receive digital audio and video data over the same uncompressed digital connection. This new ability makes DVI an even more robust solution for new generations of digital consumer electronics devices."

Building upon the recent availability of HDCP, audio adds yet another layer of functionality to the robust, high-bandwidth DVI link. DVI with HDCP enables the encryption of premium HD video between digital CE host and display devices, addressing the motion picture industry`s concerns about unauthorized duplication and piracy of their most valuable copyrighted content. With the addition of audio capability to the same DVI link, CE manufacturers can now transmit and receive all digital surround-sound formats, including Dolby Digital(R), Digital Theater Systems (DTS)(TM) and PCM Stereo, while eliminating the need for a separate audio connector and cables. No additional pins are used as the audio data is embedded within the existing DVI clock channel with an advanced method of data modulation developed by Silicon Image. By reducing the number of system components, embedded audio simplifies OEM system design, lowers component costs and improves ease of use for the consumer.

Martin Reynolds, vice president and research fellow for Gartner Dataquest, noted, "Even with today`s near-gigabit interfaces, consumer digital AV interconnects require the use of compression. Compressed data drives built-in obsolescence in the display, or a messy and expensive external decoder. Neither is a satisfactory solution for the consumer, who requires a single connection that carries all audio and video between devices and long life of the expensive display subsystem. Also, the interconnect must be encrypted end-to-end to encourage the release of high-definition content, a real challenge to analog solutions."

Steve Tirado, Silicon Image`s chief operating officer, noted, "This is all about taking digital to the next level for the consumer electronics market. Consumers want premium digital content and ease of use. We have led the market in quality and integration for more than three years now. Today we are upping the ante for digital video by enhancing access to HD content, simplifying cable management and giving consumers the highest quality digital video and digital audio."

Silicon Image`s President and CEO Dr. David Lee stated, "With digital audio, we are demonstrating our ongoing ability to innovate on the DVI link. Silicon Image technology is the foundation of the DVI 1.0 industry specification introduced by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG). PanelLink, our proprietary implementation, leads the industry. We were the first to introduce DVI-compliant chips and the first to innovate on the DVI link with HDCP-enabled silicon solutions. Audio is a continuation of this trend."

Constituencies responsible for the widespread release and availability of premium HD content in the home have already indicated their support for DVI with HDCP. Warner Bros., Disney, Universal Studios and Fox, as well as CE manufacturer JVC and satellite broadcast provider Echostar, have all endorsed DVI with HDCP.

Tirado added, "Audio strengthens the existing case for DVI as the digital interface for the critical connection between digital host devices and digital TVs. HDCP offers the promise of the highest quality video available, and DVI is the only digital interface with enough bandwidth to accommodate it. In addition, DVI is simple and cost-effective to implement in terms of both software and hardware because it`s a point-to-point interface, unlike IEEE 1394."

Bandwidth of 2.2 Gigabits/sec. is required to support uncompressed HD video transmission. With bandwidth of up to 5 Gbps for a single DVI link, compared to the 400 Megabits/sec. supported by IEEE 1394, DVI is the only digital interface capable of accommodating uncompressed digital data such as HD video. Data transmitted in compressed format must first be compressed by the host device and subsequently decompressed by the HDTV upon receipt. This poses several problems.

First, the compression and decompression sequence degrades image quality. Second, it requires additional components in both the host and display device, namely an MPEG encoder and decoder, respectively. DVI eliminates the need for these costly components. Additionally, DVI has excess bandwidth to support additional functionality beyond audio and HDCP that may be added in the future, again reducing the need for additional connectors. DVI also has the bandwidth to support higher audio fidelity, such as more channels of surround sound or 96 KHz sampling rates, as well as higher video resolution such as 1080p-ensuring no risk of long-term obsolescence.

The SiI 190 transmitter and SiI 991 receiver are projected to be sampling in Q2 2001 and begin shipping in production volumes during Q3 2001.

staying out of SIMG until 3rd Qtr. PC market dependence is too much to overcome near term. However, later in 2001, you will want to be in it.

      aber auch:

      This year 2001,...
      LCD revolution is expected.
LCD will replace CRT even though PC market decreases, because PC market is different from LCD market. LCD will be cheaper and cheaper.
SAGI will be slow in their progress because they use analog interface, but SIMG will be powerful becuase their digital visual interface.
This is a real good time to load SIMG in your portfolio.

      und:

Just listened to the conference call. Don`t let the fund managers get the jump on you. They are laying low but I expect upgrades soon. I was amazed at how many were on the call from different companies as compared to last quarter. They wanted to know if the DVI consumer electronics side was ramping up and the answer was YES! The most important thing that was said (and they had to force it out of them) was that the PC market and the emerging new market initiatives in storage and electronics (ie.DVI) would represent 1/3 1/3 1/3 each by year end 2002 In other words a huge ramp up in sales starting in quarter four and exploding next year.PC`s were 60% of the business this year or $30 million and is growing at 10-15% the next two quarters and will accelerate to approximately 20% in the second half.At an average of 17.5% growth this year and 20-30% growth in 2002 as flat panel adoption accelerates, we`re looking at conservatively sales of $43 million on the PC side in 2002 (it will probably be much more IMO).Now multiply $43 million times three accounting for the storage and electronics new initiatives and we are looking at sales of approximately $130 million for 2002 not including their other business!!!! That`s $155 million in sales folks with the growth mostly exploding in 2002!!!! They said it. And as DVI takes off, they own that maket as they are in bed with all the major players that are spearheading adoption. They confirmed also that it is happening.Listen to the call on streetfusion.com and you won`t be dissappointed

Silicon Image`s Digital Video Processor Powers New Progressive-Scan DVD Players From Denon, Ayre Acoustics and Camelot

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced that its SiI(TM) 503(TM) digital video processing chip has been designed into a number of new high-performance progressive-scan DVD players, including the Denon DVD-2800, Ayre Acoustics D-1 and Camelot Roundtable.

According to Cahners In-Stat Group, DVDs will continue as the fastest growing consumer electronics product in history, with sales reaching new heights over the next few years. Specifically, the high-tech market research firm noted that the DVD market has grown from nothing in 1996 to more than 28 million units expected to ship worldwide in 2001. Cahners In-Stat expects the market to exceed 60 million units in 2004 and went on further to note that new features all point to rapid market growth.

Progressive-scan capability is one of these newer features. Standard interlaced TV images consist of 480 horizontal scan lines, requiring two top-to-bottom passes of the scanning beam to display these images on a TV screen. This reduces the visual quality, particularly on large screen TVs. In contrast, progressively scanned images are drawn at twice this rate -- eliminating visible scan lines, flicker and other motion and interlacing artifacts such as jagged edges and shimmering horizontal lines. Silicon Image`s SiI 503 chip solution converts standard interlaced images to progressive images. This deinterlacing process is not only suitable for DVD players, but also for other applications demanding high-quality image processing, such as set-top boxes, high-definition TVs, A/V monitors and video projectors.

David Birch-Jones, Denon marketing manager, stated, "Denon`s philosophy is to introduce products that represent genuine technical advancement. When designing the DVD-2800, our first progressive-scan player, we wanted to ensure it offered the most advanced video processing technology available. Silicon Image`s Pure Progressive(TM) scan conversion technology was the answer. The SiI 503 offers unparalleled video processing performance along with a host of advanced features and capabilities. We`re pleased to be able to offer consumers a truly high-performance progressive scan player at an affordable price point."

Charles Hansen, vice president of engineering for Ayre Acoustics, noted, "Ayre`s reputation demands that our products deliver the absolute highest performance level. This makes the SiI 503 deinterlacer the perfect choice for the Ayre D-1 DVD player. The SiI 503 provides flawless reconstruction of original film frames, even when confronted with improperly mastered discs. Its motion-adaptive deinterlacing yields superlative results for DVDs transferred from video sources. To top it off, the SiI 503`s capability of handling NTSC, PAL and SECAM video standards lets us deliver the same high-performance package to our customers worldwide."

The SiI 503 is based on Silicon Image`s DVDO advanced video image processing technology. A highly-integrated, single-chip solution, the SiI 503 features a deinterlacer, horizontal scaler, color lookup table, chroma upsampler, memory controller, color space converter and LCD/CRT controller. Advanced motion adaptive and source adaptive techniques create an output image of incredible detail without introducing the motion and interlacing artifacts commonly associated with other interlace-to-progressive scan converters. The SiI 503 conducts real-time computation at more than six billion arithmetic operations per second, fast enough to provide seamless, artifact-free image quality regardless of the processing demands of the video program material. An advanced cubic interpolating deinterlacer with Four-Field Processing detects and corrects motion artifacts on a pixel-by-pixel basis, as opposed to other systems that utilize full-frame detection. This results in remarkably clear and flicker-free pictures.

The SiI 503`s Source Adaptive Processing provides automatic, seamless detection of video sources, whether they be film, video or graphics masters, and its Source Transition Management provides smooth transitions between these source types. Setting the SiI 503 apart from other deinterlacing solutions, its proprietary diagonal processing, transition management and post-processing technologies produce high-quality images from even the most noisy and unstable sources.

Michael Kelley, vice president of marketing and business development for Silicon Image, noted, "These design wins from high-end manufacturers firmly establish our presence in the progressive-scan DVD market. The SiI 503 offers the best price/performance in video processing and DVD manufacturers and reviewers alike have recognized its merits. Simply put, there is no other chip on the market offering this high-caliber performance at such an affordable price."

The Denon DVD-2800 will be available this month, joining the Ayre D-1 and the Camelot Roundtable. Other progressive-scan DVD players featuring the SiI 503 from Enlightened Audio Designs (EAD), Arcam and Theta Digital are currently in production.

Leading Add-in-Board Manufacturers Choose Panellink(R) for Digital-Out Capability

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image (Nasdaq: SIMG), a price/performance leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions for mass markets, today announced its PanelLink(R) Digital Visual Interface (DVI) transmitters are being incorporated into the industry`s state-of-the-art add-in-boards from NVIDIA, Matrox, Appian, 3Dlabs and FGL Graphics, a division of SONICblue, Inc. By enabling more PCs to provide a digital output, these design wins demonstrate the industry`s move towards digital, and specifically DVI, as the standard interconnect between PC hosts and LCD monitors.

According to San Jose, Calif.-based market research firm Stanford Resources, over 75 percent of all flat panel monitors will incorporate a digital interface by the end of 2001. This number will increase to over 90 percent by the end of 2002. DVI enables the transmission of PC data in its native digital form from source to display-eliminating the need for digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversions that degrade image quality and require manual image adjustments. In its recent evaluation, PC Magazine noted that eight of the 13 most popular 15-inch LCD monitors were equipped with at least one DVI connector. To benefit from these digital LCD monitors, the PC must provide a digital output. Most often, this is accomplished with the inclusion of a DVI-compliant graphics card.

PanelLink transmitters can be found on NVIDIA`s digital graphics cards, as well as Matrox`s G200 Multi-Monitor Series (MMS); Appian`s Gemini(TM) DVI-I, Appian Traveler(TM) and Appian X(TM); 3Dlabs` Wildcat(TM) II 5110; and FGL Graphics` Fire GL2 and Fire GL3. PanelLink is the leading DVI implementation with more than 15 million units shipped to date.

Dan Vivoli, senior vice president of marketing for NVIDIA, stated, "More of our OEM customers are demanding digital-out capability so end users can seamlessly hook their PCs up to the latest digital LCD monitors. When shipping in high volumes to the world`s largest PC OEMs, high performance at a reasonable cost is imperative. With the power of our GeForce and Silicon Image`s PanelLink, game enthusiasts, corporate end users and home end users alike can experience intense 3D animation with incredible resolution."

Commenting on the design wins, Silicon Image`s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Michael Kelley noted, "As price points decline, more consumers are switching to flat panel displays. The majority of these displays are digital, and PCs are increasingly incorporating digital outputs to ensure connectivity with these monitors." Kelley added, "We are pleased that add-in-board manufacturers have responded to this need with a widening array of DVI-compliant graphics boards, the majority of which feature PanelLink. The proliferation of DVI on the host side of the market will benefit consumers, who will reap the benefits of a pure digital viewing experience and have a much easier time selecting PCs and digital displays that are compatible with one another."

Mitch Furman, senior product manager, display technologies, for Matrox, stated, "Matrox is committed to providing our customers with innovative solutions offering the highest quality video and graphics images. Our G200 MMS, which supports up to four DVI-based digital flat panel displays on one PCI card, is the only quad DVI solution shipping today. Because the integrity of our DVI output is very critical, we chose PanelLink, the industry standard, as our DVI solution."

Silicon Image provides a family of DVI transmitters that enable scalable, all-digital connectivity with flat panel displays, digital CRTs and projectors. PanelLink transmitters offer bandwidth of up to 5 gigabits/second, supporting displays ranging from VGA to UXGA resolutions (25-165 Mega-pixels/second) in a single link interface. PanelLink transmitters have been included in PC systems from leading manufacturers such as Compaq, Fujitsu, IBM and NEC.

"Designers are looking for avenues to add more value to the PC," said Tom Matson, director of Desktop Boards and Systems Marketing at Intel Corporation. "This new DVI solution represents leading technology that will allow us to pave the way towards greater flexibility and capability in system designs."

The MicroCross Molex DVI Link will be available through authorized distributors as well as from Molex directly in high volumes and on a build-to-order basis. Pricing depends on quantity ordered. For example, when purchased in quantities of 2,500, each unit costs about $34.00.

      Hallo Pitu,
