TiVo Surpasses 3 Million Subscription Mark; Subscription Base Doubles During Year

ALVISO, Calif., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO - News), the creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), announced that as of January 31, 2005, its subscription base exceeded 3 million. TiVo added approximately 698,000 total net subscriptions during its fourth quarter ended January 31, 2005, including approximately 251,000 TiVo-Owned subscriptions and 447,000 DIRECTV with TiVo subscriptions.

NEW YORK, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Digital video recorder maker TiVo Inc. (TIVO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday said that as of Jan. 31, its subscription base exceeded 3 million.
The company said it added approximately 698,000 total net subscriptions during its fourth quarter, which ended Jan 31.

Apple an TiVo interessiert?



Das Fachmagazin Inside Digital Media hat berichtet, dass Apple Computer am Kauf von TiVo, einem Hersteller digitaler Spezial-Videorekorder interessiert ist. Die Aktie von TiVo war daraufhin an der Nasdaq stark gefragt.
Beim Investmenthaus Janney Montgomery Scott geht man davon aus, dass TiVo sehr bald übernommen werden dürfte, sofern sich das Management dafür interessiere, den Wert des Unternehmens für die Aktionäre zu steigern. Auch für Apple würde eine Übernahme von TiVo Sinn machen; es sei aber wahrscheinlicher, das ein anderes Unternehmen zugreife. Das wertvollste an TiVo sei derzeit die Technologie und der starke Markenname. Apple verfüge selbst aber über eine noch viel potentere Marke.

TiVo liegen aktuell 12,16 Prozent im Plus, nachdem die Aktie heute in der Spitze bis auf 4,45 Dollar geklettert war. Apple verbessern sich um 3,28 Prozent auf 88,09 Dollar.
