What to watch for in Apple’s results

New iPhones to claim spotlight in Apple’s earnings report

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Apple Inc. is scheduled to release its fiscal fourth-quarter results after the close of trading Monday. Here are some things investors can expect from the report:

Earnings: Analysts surveyed by FactSet estimate Apple AAPL, +1.46% will earn $1.31 a share, compared with a profit of $8.26 a share in the same period a year ago. Last year’s results were released before the 7-for-1 stock split enacted by Apple on June 9.

Revenue: Apple is expected to report sales of $40 billion for the quarter that ended in September. During the year-ago quarter, Apple posted $37.5 billion in revenue. The company has forecast sales for the quarter of between $37 billion and $40 billion.

Stock performance: For the year, Apple’s stock has risen more than 21%, to trade at around $97.33 a share. Apple’s stock price has also risen more than 5% since the company’s stock split on June 9. The S&P 500 Index SPX, +1.29% is up 2.% since the start of the year.

Other matters: Apple’s results come on the heels of a company event in which Apple showed off its new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablets. The new devices will garner attention when the company forecasts revenue for its fiscal first-quarter, which includes the Christmas and holiday shopping seasons.

Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September, and sold more than 10 million of the smartphones during the first weekend they went on sale. One of the main features of the new iPhones is their screen size: the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch diagonal screen, while the iPhone 6 Plus measures 5.5 inches.

Mizuho Securities analyst Abhey Lamba estimates Apple’s earnings will come in between $1.42 and $1.44 a share, on revenue if $42 billion to $43 billion. Lamba said, “We expect the upside to come from iPhone shipments, which should experience improved product mix and better-than-expected profitability.”

Analysts and investors will also key in on any comments that Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook has to say about the iPhone 6 taking market share from its rivals. Canaccord Equity analyst Michael Walkley recently said that demand for the larger-screen iPhones has pushed the smartphones to the top of the best-selling lists at the largest U.S. mobile-phone carriers, and is luring away customers from smartphones running Google Inc.’s GOOG, -2.54% Android operating system. Apple may end up shipping more than 60 million iPhones during the last three months of the year, he said.

1...wohl wie gewohnt gute Quartals-Zahlen vorlegen .........zumindest wird das erwartet ....
Die gleiche Frage wie jedes Quartal - Wird´s ausreichen um den Kurs um etliche Prozentpunkte ´gen Norden zu pushen ?

Die Bankinstitute haben m.E. den Trend zum mobilen Zahlen wohl verschlafen, ignoriert bzw. waren nicht in der Lage dieses Zahlungsverfahren für die breite Masse attraktiv zu gestalten und versuchen noch auf den fahrenden Zug aufzuspringen.......letztendlich hat Apple schon gewonnen - denn jedes Institut/Unternehmen, daß dabei sein will muss wohl etwas Kohle an Apple abgeben....

m.E. wird Apple Pay das mobile Zahlen revolutionieren ....


Die deutschen Sparkassen wollen beim mobilen Bezahlen mit dem Technologieriesen Apple zusammenarbeiten, der in den USA demnächst sein neues System Apple Pay startet. Für den Fall einer Einführung in Deutschland hat der Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband (DSGV) sich vorsichtshalber schon einmal bei dem Konzern in den USA gemeldet, berichtet der "Spiegel".

Oder es wird abgeschlossen für 29 oder 30 Sep...variiert immer etwas bei Apple von Quartal zu Quartal und Jahresabschluss haben wir dann ja auch.
