Munich, 25 May 2023 – Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH, a leading European supplier of thin, refined wooden fibreboards for the furniture, doors and coatings industries, today published its second Sustainability Report on the basis of the GRI standards and taking into account the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

While the Group adopted its sustainability strategy and defined sustainability goals in 2021, the focus in the financial year 2022 was on implementing the resulting measures. In all three fields of action – “We care for our relationships”, “We face up to the challenges” and “We deliver performance” – important initial progress has been made.

Homan Holzwerkstoffe Group attaches great importance to sustainability, especially with regard to its main raw material, wood. The company sources its wood from sustainably managed forests and uses up to 100% of the incoming raw materials in its manufacturing process. In order to further advance the topic of wood recycling, Homann Holzwerkstoffe has been participating in the EU research project “EcoReFibre” since last year and is making a significant contribution to promoting the use of recycled wood in fibreboard production.

In addition, the Group is continually investing in new technologies and equipment to make its production even more sustainable and efficient, and to reduce its emissions even further. At the Krosno site in Poland, a new biomass boiler was installed in 2022, which was commissioned during 2023 and replaced the old coal boiler. These and other measures will contribute to the targeted reduction of emissions.
