Generex Oral-lyn Available for Commercial Sale in Ecuador for the Treatment of Type-1 and Type-2 Diabetes


TORONTO--May 17, 2006 -- Generex Biotechnology Corporation (NasdaqSC:GNBT - News), a leader in the area of buccal drug delivery, announced today that Dr. Jaime Guevara-Aguirre, M.D., of the Institute of Endocrinology IEMYR in Quito, Ecuador and an independent Principal Investigator in respect of many of the Company's clinical trials, will present the Generex Oral-lyn™ diabetes treatment paradigm at the 8th Ecuadorian Endocrinology Congress being held in Cuenca, Ecuador, May 17-19, 2006. Generex Oral-lyn, the Company's proprietary oral insulin spray product, is currently manufactured and available for commercial sale in Ecuador for the treatment of Type-1 and Type-2 diabetes.


Generex Oral-lyn is a safe, simple, fast, effective, and pain-free alternative to subcutaneous injections of prandial insulin. Human regular insulin in the Generex Oral-lyn liquid spray product is conveniently delivered to the membranes of the oral cavity by a simple asthma-like device with no pulmonary (lung) deposition. Dr. Guevara will describe how Generex Oral-lyn can play a vital role as an interventional pharmacologic agent to delay the onset or progression of diabetes and the complications associated with diabetes. The prospect of more precise blood glucose control offered by Generex Oral-lyn will give physicians a greater opportunity to satisfy "treat to target" benchmarks identified by the American Diabetes Association and similar organizations.



The Congress brings together more than 300 endocrinologists, diabetologists, internists, general medical practitioners, and nurses in the field of endocrinology including diabetes and pediatric and adolescent endocrinology, and includes participation by scientific opinion leaders from Ecuador, Argentina, Columbia, Chile, the United States, Mexico, and Uruguay. The Congress is another opportunity for Generex and its Latin American joint venture partner, PharmaBRAND, S.A. wo ist eigentlich derjenige, der mir seine shares für 3$ verkaufen wollte ? ich biete ihm jetzt nen fairen preis von 1,95$

Immer wieder schön hier reinzukommen und zu lesen was über gnbt geschrieben wird.egal ob pro oder contra.alles bleibt doch recht ruhig und sachlich.im gegensatz zu anderen diversen threads.

Hallo "miristegal",

danke fuer Deinen gutgemeinten Rat, aber ich sehe die Sache halt ziemlich anders als Du. Ich halte die Aktie zur Zeit fuer ziemlich ueberverkauft und reif fuer einen Rebound.

Es gibt fuer mich gleich einige moegliche Richtungen aus denen News kommen koennen, die diesen Rebound und damit eine nachhaltige Kurserholung triggern koennen. Ich brauche mich hier glaube ich nicht zu wiederholen und all diese Punkte nochmal wieder aufschreiben. Das hatten wir schon diskutiert.

Ich glaube ernsthaft, dass wenn Du ueber ein Investment in GNBT erst wieder in 2-3 Jahren nachdenkst, dass Dir eine ganze Menge des moeglichen Kurs-Potentials entgeht. Denn in 2-3 Jahren wirst Du es m.E. schwer haben hier noch unter 10 USD reinzukommen und dann hast Du nochmal eine Chance auf 100% und mehr. Wenn ich allerdings investiert bleibe habe nehme ich diese 400% Zuwachs (von ~2 auf 10 USD) noch mit und ich glaube nicht, dass das eine schlechte Rendite waere.

In dem Artikel von "dermitdemstock" ist die Rede von 300 Mill. USD Umsatz-Potential pro Jahr fuer Oral-Lyn aus SA alleine. Wenn man das mal wirklich ernst nimmt und ein wenig rechnet, dann ergibt sich daraus:

300 Mill. *0.7 = 210 Mill. (ich habe schon mehrfach von einer Gross-Margin (Anteil Gewinn am Umsatz) von 70% fuer Oral-Lyn gelesen)
Dann wird PharmaBrand noch Ihren Anteil kriegen (bin mir nicht sicher, ob der PharmaBrand Anteil schon in den 30% Kosten steckt oder nicht, deshalb ziehe ich es fuer eine konservative Rechnung einfach mal zusaetzlich ab). Vielleicht 25% Prozent (einfach mal meine Einschaetzung ohne auch nur einen Anhaltspunkt zu haben!) vom Brutto Gewinn, also bleiben ueberig 210 Mill *0.75 = 157.5 Mill. USD.
Dann entfallen Steuern auf diese 157.5 Mill. Brutto Gewinn fuer GNBT selsbt von vielleicht 35-40%, dh. konservativ gerechnet bleiben 157.5 *0.6 = 94.5 Mill USD.

Wenn man das jetzt mal auf die ca 89 Mill. outstanding shares (OS) bezieht erhaelt man ein EPS von 1.06 USD/Aktie. Ich glaube es nicht zu hochgegriffen, wenn man ein KGV von 15-20 fuer ein Gewinne erwirtschaftendes Biotech-Unternehmen annimmt. Auch hier wieder konservativ den kleinsten Wert angenommen, ergaebe das einen fairen Wert von ungefaehr 16 USD/Aktie und das traefe dann zu, wenn GNBT wirklich einen Umsatz von 300 Mill. USD einfaehrt - und das unabhaengig davon ob das nun nur in SA ist oder weltweit, denn es gibt ja die Geruechte, dass auch ueber eine Zulassung in Polen und der Ukraine verhandelt wird.

Ich glaube schon, dass das in den naechsten 2 Jahren erreichbar ist und deshalb bleibe ich investiert.

Hi sneake,

danke Dir fuer die Uebersetzung. Natuerlich ist Englisch fuer mich voellig in Ordnung. Ich denke Du erinnerst Dich noch wage daran, dass ich zur Zeit in USA lebe, oder?

Ok zum Inhalt. Also ich weiss nicht, ob mich dieser Artikel jetzt nun wirklich so optimistisch fuer naechste Woche sein laesst. Er enthaelt fuer mich erst einmal nur sehr wenig Neues, denn ich weiss ziemlich gut was Diabetes und Oral-Lyn sind, welche Vorteile Letzteres gegenueber dem Spritzen von Insulin hat etc.

Die einzige zusaetzliche Info ist der Zeitpunkt der entgueltigen Markteinfuehrung und damit wann nun entgueltig mit ersten Einnahmen gerechnet werden kann. Aber da heisst es nur, dass das in diesem Jahr (2006) sein wird. Ich hatte ehrlich gesagt eher auf eine Aussage wie "Oral-Lyn ist seit 1. Mai in Apotheken in Equador erhaeltlich" gehofft. Bzgl. der Ausweitung auf SA wird auf naechstes Jahr verwiesen, auch hier hatte ich mehr darauf gehofft, dass wir da in Kuerze schon mit PRs bzgl. weiteren Zulassungen in den Nachbarlaendern von Equador rechnen koennen. Denn dann koennte es auch dort mit der Markteinfuehrung ziemlich schnell gehen, weil man ja auf die bereits geschaffene Infrastruktur in Equador zurueckgreifen kann.

Also ich gehe einfach mal davon aus, dass diese genannte Zeitraeume aus Mangel an Detailinformationen so gross gewaehlt sind, damit man ja nicht zu optimistisch Prognosen stellt.

Wirklich vom Stuhl reisst mich dieser Artikel allerdings nicht!

Bleibe dennoch i.A. optimistisch fuer die Zukunft von GNBT und werde natuerlich auch weiterhin investiert bleiben!

Oral insulin will arrive at Latin America in the middle of the 2006

The Oral product allows to administer the insulin in diabetics like spray in the buccal cavity. It reduces daily injections in insulinodependientes and it can replace the oral agents who help to control the glucose level in the blood.
Quito (Reuters). The Canadian Generex Biotechnology Corporation and Ecuadorian PharmaBrand S.A. announced that they will commercialize an insulin of oral application in Latin America in the 2006, which will give another option to million diabetics who depend on subcutaneous injections to live.



The sale of the oral insulin, that will be distributed commercially like Oral, will begin in Ecuador and later it will be extended to the rest of the countries of the region.


The insulin is administered in this case like fine spray in the buccal cavity, which would reduce the daily injections that require the patients of Diabetes Mellitus Insulinodependiente (DMID) or type 1 to even prevent a cetoacidosis and the death. Nevertheless, the insulinodependientes still will have to be applied the basal insulin through traditional method.




In the case of the victims of the diabetes Mellitus No Insulinodependiente (DMNID) or type 2, Oral can replace to the oral agents who help to control the glucose level in the blood, which, according to Felix, would facilitate the protection of the páncreas.




“The great advantage of this product is that it is administered by one more a more natural route. The oral route is the route more adapted for the feeding and medicine administration”, indicated the director medical of PharmaBrand, Camilo Felix.


The two companies hope to commercialize Oral throughout Latin America as of the second semester of the next year. Generex Biotechnology is evaluating the following passages for the Oral introduction in the rest of the world.


The companies did not inform into the cost of the medicine, but they said that it would surpass to the one of the traditional mechanism of insulin administration. The commercialization of the product would represent sales by around about 300 million annual dollars, indicated representatives of both companies in Quito.


The diabetes, that affects a six percent of the world-wide population, is a disorder of the metabolism. The insulin is the most important factor in this process and is produced by the páncreas.
