Ein etwas widersprüchlicher Artikel, wohl auch mehr Erörterung als eine klare Positionierung.
My last key risk is the election of a Democrat as president of the U.S. Many Democrats have shown interest in rolling back the practice in some way. Some want private prisons operate as normal companies paying normal taxes (Gregory Meeks), while some want to prohibit the activity entirely (Elizabeth Warren).
There is a good chance of Warren being elected. In such a scenario, these stocks will be worth zero.

I think that the management teams of BNP or BAC are not so worried about reputation. They are giving the people what they want while they (and their private-prison clients) gain some time to find a solution to their problems.

GEO reported second quarter 2019 net income attributable to GEO of $41.9 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, compared to $37.4 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, for the second quarter 2018. GEO reported total revenues for the second quarter 2019 of $614.0 million up from $583.5 million for the second quarter 2018. Second quarter 2019 results reflect $2.6 million in start-up expenses, pre-tax, and a $5.7 million loss on the extinguishment of debt, pre-tax, related to the recent amendment and extension of GEO’s senior revolving credit facility and the recent refinancing of non-recourse senior secured debt associated with the development of the Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Australia. Habe es vorhin einem User geschrieben. Erst hat Trump sie hochgejagt (bin damals etwas zu früh raus)

Nachkaulimit ist deutlich unterboten. Ist ja jetzt auf dem Niveau vor der Trumpwahl. Nachkauf erfolgt?
Die Dividendenrendite ist jetzt unglaublich. Nachdem es bei Gamestop so katastrophal gelaufen ist, habe ich allerdings Angst, dass auch hier dei Dividende ausgesetzt wird, wenn eine Refinanzierung des FK kritischer würde. Das scheint wohl auch der Markt zu befürchten. Aber kann man hier ernsthaft einen Konkurs erwarten? Dann bliebe als Käufer der Einrichtungen der Staat und würde über Restriktionen GEO selbst in den Konkurs treiben. Ob so etwas mit dem amerikanischen Rechtssystem vereinbar wäre?
In Deutschland wäre ich mir da bei den aktuellen sozialistsichen Untrieben nicht mehr ganz so sicher.

Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Rep. Jamie Raskin, chairman of the subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, sent letters to those two companies, plus privately held DC Capital Partners, which owns Comprehensive Health Services that runs the country's largest shelter for immigrant children.
The letters note that GEO received $300M in new ICE contract awards in FY2017, up more than $100M from the prior year, and rose to almost $342M in FY2018.
CoreCivic received ~$135M in new ICE contracts in FY2017, up $36M Y/Y, and almost $141M in FY2018.
Both CoreCivic and GEO have said they don't operate facilities that house unaccompanied minors.
