RESEARCH ALERT - AmeriTrade started with buy
CHICAGO, April 10 (Reuters) - ABN AMRO said Monday it started covering AmeriTrade Holding Corp. <AMTD.O> with a buy rating and a price target of $40 based, in part, on the online brokerage firm`s very effective advertising campaign and solid brand name. -- In a research note, ABN AMRO also said heavy technology investment and rapidly improving operating efficiency provide the company with powerful account, asset and net income growth prospects. AmeriTrade`s cost per trade is nearly half that of its major competitors, an advanatage that is critical within its segment, the note said. -- ABN AMRO estimates AmeriTrade`s fiscal 2001 earnings at $1.10 a share and fiscal 2002 at $2.05.
Shares of AmeriTrade added 1-7/16 to 20-3/16 in morning trading.
