Natural Gas Services Shares Drop Sharply, Company Says Business Is Normal


MIDLAND, Texas (AP) -- Shares for Natural Gas Services Group Inc., a service and equipment provider for the gas and oil industries, dropped 24 percent Thursday, but the company`s management said business is normal and they see no reason for the sharp decline.
The company`s shares were down $7.51, or 23.6 percent, to $24.30 in afternoon trading on the American Stock Exchange. Shares slipped from a 52-week high of $39.99 Wednesday to close at $31.81, on unusually high trading volume. A year ago, shares traded at $7.95.

Shares were trading at a volume of 3.4 million Wednesday and 2.9 million on Thursday afternoon, compared with an average trading volume of 345,000.

Shares of numerous companies in the oil and gas services industry have seen a huge runup in the last month, along with oil company stocks, as the price of oil has surged and companies have assessed damage from hurricanes hitting the Gulf States.

Da hier bei uns bzw. in WO keiner diesen Wert kennt habe ich mal den Meilenstein gelegt und einen Thread eröffnet, da dies ein riesen Unternehmen ist und der Winter vor der Tür steht und der Gas-Index unaufhörlich steigt.

Das weiß ich auch nicht genau, denke mal es hat mit der Neubestellung eines GF zu tun, den man Optionen einräumte.

Und das mit der Charttechnik ist wirklich sehr einfach und funktioniert, sonst gäbe es sie nicht und es würden nicht so viele darauf schwören. Natürlich muß man auch die Hintergründe beachten!!! Ein weites Blickfeld ist bei allen Entscheidungen wichtig.

Ich habe nicht den Thread eröffnet, um von mir persönliches preiszugeben. Ich möchte mit diesem Thread auf die Chance hinweisen einen Rebound mitzuerleben und über den Hintergrund zu diskutieren.

Es wurden in letzter Zeit sehr viele Insiderverkäufe getätigt, die dieser Aktie Aufwind verliehen haben. Was genau der Grund dafür war, daß sie vor kurzem so gesunken ist, aber der 38-Tage-Linie stand gehalten hat, weiß ich auch nicht genau.

Vielleicht weiß einer von euch mehr als ich???

The niche: Rising natural gas prices have caused energy companies to re-examine reserves they once left for dead, says LSGI’s Dancy. At the same time, they want to get gas out of the ground as fast as possible in newer fields. The natural gas compressors made and leased by Natural Gas Services Group (NGS, news, msgs) help producers do just that. The gear increases the pressure in underground reserves, speeding up production. Based in Midland, Texas, Natural Gas Services is the only public company offering smaller wellhead compressors operating at 600 horsepower or less, says CEO Wallace Sparkman.

The growth: Natural Gas Services has annual earnings growth well into the double digits; Dancy thinks the trend should continue because of tight domestic natural gas supplies.

The play for coverage: The company makes its case to money managers on a regular basis. And Wall Street firms are circling. “There is one large firm that has the door open right now for some banking business,” says Sparkman. If financing comes through, he thinks research should follow. The stock is 37.3% higher so far this year, and trading volume has picked up, which should make trading desks happy.

Hi Rainolaus!
Du bist wohl schon ein alte Hase bei WO. Hab mir deinen User mal angeschauen und du hattest mal ne Investition bei SZ... (du weißt schon!). Bist du da noch investiert oder hast dich durch diverse Nachkäufe nen besseren Kurs ergattern können?

Ich bin zwar noch nicht so lange an der Börse wie du und habe auch sicherlich noch nicht so viele Börsenerfolge wie misserfolge erlebt wie du, aber NGS sieht doch bitte sehr interssant aus, vor allem nach dem Kurseinbruch und der momentanen Situation mit den Rohstoffen. Die produzieren einen Kompressor, der auch bei schon totgeglaubten Gasquellen noch Erfolge erzielen kann. Und bei dem Trend mit dem Rohstoffen Öl und Gas ist das doch mal ne Überlegung wert. Noch dazu, wenn dieser Wert hier (bei WO)nicht wirklich bekannt ist. Mal schaun, wies am Montag hier weitergeht...

Bei SZ bin ich glaube ich zu 23,50Euro raus.

Was Du zu NGS schreibst klingt auf den ersten Blick interessant wie vieles, was einem heutzutage so empfohlen wird. Ich schaue mir die Werte heute aber relativ genau an, bevor ich kaufe. Auch bei Charttechnik achte ich auf eine gute fundamentale Basis. Bei den Indikatoren verwende ich noch etliche mehr als nur SSTOC und RSI.
Ein Kauf bei NGS entspricht dem Griff in das fallende Messer. Wenn Du jetzt gerade eine techn. Reaktion erwischt hast, hattest Du möglicherweise Glück; für micht sieht der Chart grausam aus.

Ich müsste mich erst mit dem Unternehmen beschäftigen. Bewertet ist es mit ~200Mio. USD; wieviel Gewinn/Aktie machen die? Ich will die Aktie keinesfalls schlecht reden.
Fühle mich bei Royal Standard Minerals (A0Blue) im Moment äusserst wohl.

Und es bieten sich auch seit Oktober täglich diverse Unabhängige Börsenblätter auf Yahoo zum Kauf an, die teilweise sogar 80 USD kosten. Was genau darin steht, weiß ich nicht, aber alleine, daß dieser Aktie so viel Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird ist doch ein positiver Nebeneffekt, könnte aber auch genau umgekehrt sein!?

Ja, aber ich habe den Ausstieg bei 30 versäumt. Hoffe, dies ist war kein Fehler.

Long wollte ich zuerst eh nicht sein, aber nachdem ich mich jetzt mal in diesem Sektor schlau gemacht habe, haben alle Firmen in dieser Branche seit ca. Mai extreme Kursgewinne verzeichnen können und sind weiterhin auf Überholkurs. Hat sicher mit dem derzeitigen Gas-Index-Boom zu tun... Stimmt, KGV wäre mit 75 sehr hoch, aber die 0,38 sind vom letzten Jahr, das heißt KGV war 2004 bei ca. 20 gewesen.

Natural gas prices unlikely to drop soon

DALLAS — Don’t expect natural gas prices to abate much any time soon.

Experts say it will take a fundamental change in supply to cut natural gas prices significantly, as demand continues to grow. Either regulators will have to allow production in regions of the United States currently protected or the industry will have to quickly build facilities to handle imported natural gas.

“This is a captive North American market,’’ said James Williams, head of WTRG Energy Economics.

Oil and natural gas markets have been rising steadily this year. When Katrina and Rita hit, prices spiked even higher, making a fundamental supply-demand problem even more dramatic.

Atmos Energy expects higher prices to boost customer bills by 60 percent to 90 percent this winter, and TXU Energy is aiming to hike electricity prices 24 percent by January to keep up with higher natural gas costs.

Now that Gulf Coast energy producers are repairing their production and pipeline equipment, prices are easing. On Friday, natural gas closed at $13.23 per million British thermal units, down 15 cents from Thursday. Earlier in the week natural gas closed above $14. Crude oil ended Friday at $61.84 a barrel, up 48 cents, after brushing $70 shortly after the hurricanes.

Will prices slowly settle to levels within consumers’ comfort zones? Or will prices goad consumers to change their habits? Experts are divided.

Many say prices may continue to drop gradually during the next few months, but not to the levels consumers enjoyed just a few years ago.

Others forecast a wild rise due to the special supply and demand constraints on oil and gas. University of Houston professor Michael Economides predicted on Friday that oil prices will hit $100 a barrel within a year and natural gas will go to $20 per million Btu by Christmas.

Just a couple of years ago, natural gas was cheap. Government and industry officials promoted it as a clean, inexpensive fuel, and electricity companies built natural gas generators.

U.S. natural gas comes mostly from domestic and Canadian sources, with a sliver coming from overseas imports. Constricted supply isn’t expanding as quickly as demand, boosting prices.

Higher prices could eventually boost supply, as companies experiment with expensive new technology to produce natural gas in more difficult areas — like the Barnett Shale.

Prices are also prompting investors to build facilities to import natural gas in liquefied form. But those facilities and new technologies will take years to develop far enough to significantly change U.S. supply.

That’s why the hurricanes were such a blow to natural gas production. The storms halted all natural gas production in the Gulf Coast for a time. On Friday, 64 percent of Gulf Coast production remained out of service. Some analysts say it could be spring before everything is back in working order.

“Natural gas prices likely will be much higher this year than last. That’s just the way it is,’’ said Sean Sexton, an oil and gas analyst with Fitch Ratings in Chicago. “Once we’re past the heating season, we could be in much better shape as far as prices go.’’

Still, “much better shape’’ doesn’t necessarily mean a return to last year’s prices, which were half as much as current prices.

And if oil prices remain high, that will keep natural gas prices high, too, because the commodities tend to trade in tandem.

Oil can be easily imported, unlike natural gas. The trouble for consumers is, there’s no immediate alternative for transportation fuel.

“That’s why gasoline is at $3 a gallon,’’ said James Woolsey, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and a member of the National Commission on Energy Policy, in a speech at Southern Methodist University. “There’s no real way, in the short term, to deal with a spike’’ in oil prices.

In a worst-case scenario, the high prices could undo themselves, causing Americans to use less fuel. Already some chemicals manufacturers, like Celanese — big users of natural gas — are considering moving operations overseas to avoid higher U.S. fuel costs.

Some analysts have even begun to use the R-word.

“This is the kind of thing recessions are made of,’’ said Williams of WTRG.

Geht doch... Mal schaun wie sich die Aktie heute zum Schluß verhält? Gestern war es dermaßen spannend, aber ich schätze wir werden heute bei USD 30-31 schließen. Hatten heute ja schon eine Korrektur und auf eine 2. würde ich nicht mehr schwören.

Vielleicht kommt es doch noch zu einem finishing bei über 32 USD, was ich aber nicht glaube, mir aber wünsche...

Is the U.S. on the edge of a natural gas crisis?

Q. Natural gas output is down and futures prices are soaring in the aftermath of back-to-back hurricanes. Is the country on the verge of a crisis?

A. Homeowners, electric utilities and manufacturers will see, compared to last year, a steep rise in the amount they pay for natural gas this winter — and that alone may qualify as a crisis for low-income families — but analysts do not expect any shortages akin to what U.S. motorists experienced with gasoline this summer.

Industry officials say there is, and will be, plenty of natural gas for customers who want it and are willing to pay market prices.

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have placed enormous strain on the production of natural gas in the Gulf of Mexico, which accounts for 19 percent of the nation’s total output. As of a week ago, the region had lost 219.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas production since Katrina, an amount equivalent to 6 percent of annual production in the Gulf. And 75 percent of the region’s daily output remains shut down.



Natural gas futures prices are up more than 40 percent since Aug. 26, the Friday before Katrina made landfall. At more than $14 per 1,000 cubic feet on the New York Mercantile Exchange, prices are roughly twice as high as a year ago.

“I hate to use the word crisis, but there is certainly potential for real supply tightness,” said oil broker Tom Bentz of BNP Paribas Commodity Futures in New York. “If we’re not able to build adequate storage going into winter, we’ll have extremely high prices. And that, for some people, would already constitute a crisis.”

So what is adequate storage?

Analysts generally agree that, before the winter heating season, the U.S. needs more than 3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in underground storage in order to accommodate anticipated daily demand of about 61 billion cubic feet. At the moment, domestic storage is about 2.9 trillion cubic feet and there are a few weeks left in the so-called injection period, when gas is put into storage by utilities and others.

“We have a reasonable chance to get to 3.2 trillion cubic feet,” said analyst Dan Lippe of Petral Worldwide in Houston.

But even if that level is not reached, there may not be as much to be fearful about as natural gas futures prices would suggest, Lippe said.

For starters, there is less demand for natural gas among Gulf Coast electric utilities, petrochemical plants and manufacturers affected by Katrina and Rita. And industrial users and homeowners across the country are expected to use less natural gas this winter because of the high prices.

U.S. utilities are already using 2.5 billion cubic feet a day less natural gas than last year as they switch to less expensive energy sources, such as coal and nuclear energy, according to the Natural Gas Supply Association.

Moreover, natural gas output is expected to rise, if it hasn’t already, in Canada and in the Rocky Mountain region as producers take advantage of the high-price environment, according to Mark Stultz, a spokesman for the association.

Stultz said the fact that natural gas inventories have continued to grow since the hurricanes, even at a slower-than-normal rate, is an indication of the industry’s ability to keep up with the reduced demand.

He conceded that if the pace of recovery in the Gulf of Mexico does not pick up soon the industry will face a greater challenge when colder weather sets in and home-heating demand really picks up.

“It is the worst case scenario that seems to be driving the futures market,” Stultz said.

But is there any way for average consumers to limit their financial exposure to the whims of energy traders?

“Turn down your thermostat this winter,” Stultz said. “Not only will you save money because you are using less, but you will also take pressure off the market and that will cause prices to fall and thereby reduce the cost for the fuel you are using.”

Außerdem kommen bald die Zahlen fürs 3. Quartal und, wenn man die letzten Berichte genauer betrachtet und das Umfeld (GAS-BOOM, WINTER-SAISON, HURRICANS,...) miteinbezieht, erkennt man, dass NGS floriert und es derzeit nur bergauf gehen kann...

Ist mein Wusch also doch noch erhört worden: SK 31,70 stimmen überaus positiv...

Der Hype ist noch nicht ganz vorbei. Denke morgen geht es ähnlich weiter wie heute, aber mit weniger Volumen, außer es kommt irgendeine Meldung...

Und der SEC-Eintrag war kein Kauf sondern ein Insider-Verkauf. Der grösste Anteilseigner hat von 700t auf 200t Anteilscheine verringert. Das kann jetzt positiv wie negativ gesehen werden. Einerseits weiß er sicherlich mehr als wir über den wahren Wert des Unternehmers (KGV ~70-> ist wirklich sehr hoch) doch andererseits hat diese Aktion wieder für Aufwind gesorgt. Auch sorgte ein Eintrag der Aktie bei IBD unter den Top10 auch für mehr Volumen.

Diese AKTIE bleibt weiterhin ein HEISSES EISEN und es ist kein Fehler Teilgewinne zu realisieren, da wir uns noch nicht wirklich von diesem Kurssturz gefangen haben.

Wow, was für ein Andrang bei dieser Aktie die total überbewertet ist...

War kurz vorm aussteigen... war kurz davor, den entscheidenden Mausklick zu tätigen, doch nein, ich tat` bisher noch nicht... Wie stark ist diese Aktie doch seit Freitag gestiegen und bisher gabs keine wirkliche Korrektur... Mal abwarten, wo sie heute abend steht... (25?, 28?, 31?, 36?, 40?)
