Tschuldigung wenn Du den vorherigen Beitrag meinst, wollte eigentlich nur mal diesen Streit hier ein bischen entschärfen. Ich bin übrigens NICHT Silbertom. Wenn ich irgendwann mal dahintersteige wie man hier Infos einstellt werde ich das selbstverständlich tun, gepushe geht mir absolut gegen den Strich.

Fand die Homepage der Firma übrigens wirklich interessant, es könnte sich durchaus mal lohnen da mal nachzuforschen. Hab leider im Moment nicht genügend Zeit, da ich ja auch noch nen Job hab.

Hallo, ist doch klasse, das jetzt ein wenig über Avanir gesprochen wird. Ich habe in meinem ersten Beitrag nur auf diese Aktie hingewiesen, ihr solltet euch einmal schlau machen. Bekannt ist mir das Risiko bin aber trozdem bei 5,45 rein.Ich bin auch kein PROFI, der weiß, wie man hier Artikel ins Board stellt,ich beschäftige mich eigendlich nur mit dem lesen und so ca. 75% aller Texte sind doch für die Tonne (gepushe). Mich hat es nur gewundert dass hier im Board noch nix über Avanir lief.

increased CTL responses specific to a variety of tumor types and to improve the survival rates in cancer-bearing mice. LIDAK has successfully scaled up

In the presentation, David H. Katz, M. D., president and chief executive officer of LIDAK Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:LDAKA) discussed how the
relatively simple chemical, which is a long-chain alcohol, integrates into the outer membranes of virus-susceptible target cells and blocks virus infection.
Because of its structure, the compound is strongly attracted to the fat molecules which are natural components of all animal cell membranes. This property
enables n-docosanol to attach to the fat layers of cell membranes. Soon after this attachment, the cells begin to metabolize the compound into fat
by-products known as phospholipids. This metabolic conversion of n-docosanol interrupts the entrance of certain types of viruses which must travel
through the surrounding membrane fat layers to actively infect animal cells.

"Our studies with n-docosanol have uncovered what appears to be a unique, and elegantly simple, mechanism for inhibiting viral infection at the very
earliest stages," said Dr. Katz. "Since this chemical is a natural constituent in certain animal tissues, I would not be surprised if it proved to be a component
of the normal defense mechanisms against infectious viruses," stated Dr. Katz.

Many viruses are surrounded by fat-containing protein envelopes and use similar mechanisms for penetrating the membranes of cells they infect.
Therefore, Dr. Katz and his scientific team reasoned that n-docosanol could have inhibitory activity against a broad range of viruses, much broader than
previously studied anti-viral drugs which generally exert activity against one single virus type. In fact, they have shown that the compound exerts inhibitory
activity against a number fat-enveloped viruses of both human and animal origin. In his presentation, Dr. Katz showed data on the ability of the drug to
block infection in tissue culture by herpes simplex virus, varicella zoster virus (the cause of shingles), respiratory syncytial virus and cytomegalovirus
(CMV).

"These are all medically-significant viruses responsible for substantial human suffering," said Dr. Katz. "We have also shown activity of this drug against
HIV, influenza and herpesvirus 6 in the laboratory," he added. It is important to note that the novel mechanism of action of n-docosanol very different
from other antiviral drugs in use, and therefore, it could be effective against viral strains resistant to existing drugs. This was borne out in laboratory studies
of herpes simplex virus strains resistant to acyclovir.

The first clinical study in which a topical formulation of n-docosanol was compared to placebo was carried out by LIDAK`s European licensee, Brocades
Pharma, b.v. In 1991, Brocades Pharma was acquired by Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd, which according to Brocades is, "a worldwid active,
strongly R&D driven, healthcare company." Effective March 1,1994, Brocades Pharma will be called Yamanouchi Europe. The double-blind study was
conducted under the supervision of Loek Habbema, a dermatologist in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, who is affiliated with the Academisch Ziekenhuis
Rotterdam Dijkzigt.

In this study, 63 patients suffering from recurrent herpes labialis (commonly known as cold sores, fever blisters) were instructed to start treatment as soon
as they experienced symptoms of outbreak of a new episode of herpes labialis. Healing time was the major endpoint for evaluation of efficacy of the drug.
After experiencing a first episode, 22 of the patients participated in a "cross-over" evaluation in which they were switched to the alternative treatment for
their new herpes outbreak. In addition, 13 patients treated a second episode with the same dispensed medication during the course of the study.
Therefore, a total of 98 herpes episodes --48 treated with n-docosanol; 50 with placebo -- were analyzed.

Of the 95 episodes analyzed, 20 were classified as early treatments, defined as treatment initiation during the prodrome or erythema stage; all other
treatments initiated at the papule stage or later were classified as late treatments. In these 20 early treatment episodes, topical n-docosanol aborted further
evolution of herpetic lesions in 70% (9/13) of such patients compared to 29% (2/7) in the placebo group.

Moreover, in this early treatment cohort, treatment with n-docosanol significantly reduced mean healing times by 4.3 days in the first episodes (P 0.0001),
and in all early treatment episodes combined by 3.3 days (P 0.05).

In the late treatment cohort, n-docosanol reduced mean healing time in the first episodes by 1/2 day, which was not statistically significant, and by one day
in the overall late treatment episodes. However, in the cross-over phase of the study, late treatment with n-docosanol significantly reduced mean healing
time by 2.4 days compared to placebo (P 0.03).

Evaluating the data from all 98 treatment episodes together revealed a statistically significant reduction in mean overall healing time of 1.6 days in
n-docosanol-treated versus placebo-treated patients (P 0.02).

These studies suggest that n-docosanol is a promising new drug for the topical treatment of recurrent herpes labialis, and is particularly effective in
significantly limiting both the progression and duration of an outbreak when applied at the early stages of symptoms. Both in Europe and in the U.S.,
further studies are underway or planned to expand and verify these findings.

LIDAK Pharmaceuticals is developing therapeutic products against virally caused diseases, inflammatory disorders and cancer. The Company`s initial

Ich denke, wir sollten mit den Beleidigungen an dieser Stelle aufhören, sonst hat es keinen Sinn den Thread weiterzuführen.

Ich wollte mit meinem ersten Posting in diesen Thread lediglich ein paar Infos von Dir (silber-tom) erfragen. Da Du in diesem Unternehmen offensichtlich investiert bist, dachte ich mir, Du könntest ein paar liefern. Mich störte, dass Du Infos gefordert hast, aber selbst nicht bereit warst, welche ins Board zu stellen. (Und jetzt vergiss bitte mein erstes CVTX-Posting, das war ganz am Anfang meiner wo-Zeit.)

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Despite many pharmaceutical and biotechnology stocks
being lower Monday, shares of Avanir Pharmaceuticals (AVN) climbed over 10% to
a 52-week high after gaining almost 16% on Friday, and its chief executive
said investors are anticipating the launch of its cold sore treatment.
Avanir`s Chief Executive Gerald Yakatan said drug store chains are reserving
shelf space for the launch of Avanir`s topical cold sore treatment, Abreva,
which will be distributed by Smithkline Beecham PLC (SBH).
Yakatan said Avanir has not confirmed a launch date for Abreva, other than
to say it will be available to consumers before the end of the year.
The company received full marketing approval from the Food and Drug
Administration for the cold sore treatment, also known as docosanol, in July.
Word of the move by drug store chains, however, may have investors thinking
the launch may be at the end of this month or next month, Yakatan said.
A spokeswoman at Walgreen Co. (WAG) said its stores would be carrying Abreva
by the end of the month

Also helping to boost Avanir`s share price, the executive also cited
positive company news, such as the formation of subsidiary Xenerex
Biosciences.
Xenerex was formed to produce human monoclonal antibodies, Yakatan said.
Shares of Avanir were recently up 94 cents, or 11.4%, to $9.19 on American
Stock Exchange volume of 1.4 million, compared with average daily volume of
about 627,000. Earlier, shares traded as high as $9.50, passing the previous
52-week high of $9 set on Sept. 5.

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Avanir Pharmaceuticals (Amex: AVN) today announced that it has filed a New Drug Submission (NDS) with the Canadian Therapeutic Products Programme (TPP) for docosanol 10% cream for the treatment of cold sores. Avanir has requested that the product be accorded non-prescription status, which would allow it to be sold over-the-counter (OTC).
Docosanol 10% cream, which will be sold in the U.S. consumer market as Abreva(TM), was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an OTC product in July 2000. If the Canadian regulatory authority agrees, docosanol 10% cream would be the first drug -- prescription or OTC -- to be approved by TPP for the treatment of cold sores.

The company had previously discussed with TPP the required format and content of the submission. Like their FDA counterpart in the United States, TPP will first screen the NDS for completeness and then extensively review the submission. TPP performance standards suggest a minimum screening and review time of about one year from the date of filing (45 days for screening and 300 days for review). The company estimates that the review may take 15 to 16 months to complete, which could lead to issuance of a Notice of Compliance (marketing authorization) for the drug in the first quarter of 2002. The Canadian Investigational New Drug for docosanol 10% cream was filed in November 1994 and led to participation of Canadian investigators in clinical studies with the product.

In March 2000, Avanir signed a license agreement giving manufacturing and marketing rights to docosanol 10% cream for the United States and Canada to SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare (NYSE: SBH). Under terms of the agreement SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare is responsible for all sales and marketing activities, as well as manufacturing and the distribution of the product in the licensed territory. The terms of the agreement provide for AVANIR to receive an upfront licensing payment as well as milestone payments up to $25 million tied to FDA approval, product launch and sales performance criteria up to one year from product launch. Avanir will also receive royalties on product sales.

AVN who owns 100% of the Xenerex patent equally with IDPH has stated that they have agreement with IDPH to commercialize "monomice" technology. They have formed Xenerex and their technology may compete with ABGX`s "xenomouse" and MEDX`s "humabmouse". Both ABGX and MEDX became high flying stocks this year based on the mouse technology. AVN, which still sells for less than $10 per share, feels that their technology is superior to that of ABGX and MEDX. Danke bin seit 6,94 USD dabei, könnte echt was werden, vor allem wenn das Projekt mit den Antikörpern klappt. Die Ankündigung war ja wohl der Grund für die Kursexplosion im Aug/Sept.

Wenn die Erwartungen erfüllt werden können ist die jetzige Pruduktpipeline ev. noch ne nette Zugabe..Aber Risiko wie immer.

Biotech halt, nichts für schwache Nerven.
