OTI subsidiary signs smart-card deal with Hong Kong developer Sino Land
04.10.2000 | 11:18
Shlomy Golovinski
E-Smart System, a subsidiary of On Track Innovations, an Israeli company trading on Germany’s Deutsche Bourse (NM OTI), has signed a $300,000 contract to supply multi-application smart cards to Sino Land, one of Hong Kong’s biggest real-estate development firms. The investment firm Sino Land Co trades on the Hang Seng exchange.
Sino Land is buying the smart cards from E-Smart System, formerly OTI Asia, for its vacation resorts. E-Smart System, based in Guangzhou, China, expects the contract to lead to additional deals. Sino Land alone has more than 300,000 residents in its projects.
Contactless smart cards incorporate microprocessors. They have been used so far in gasoline payment systems, an electronic parking solution, electronic wallets, and medical-history cards.
Last week Rosh Pina-based OTI, which develops contactless multi-application smart card technology and solutions, announced an alliance between OTI Africa and the South African division of BP Amoco, BP Southern Africa. The two will be cooperating on the marketing and support of FuelMaster technology for fleets and private vehicle owners. FuelMaster is BP’s brandname for OTI’s gasoline management system in Africa.
