      http://www.jmdutton.com/research/rvm/reports/rvm_report_0919…

      “Likewise, the Rock Creek project could double the throughput of the Troy Mine for a period of up to 20 years, but this is complicated by actions of environmental groups“

      “…and the feasibility study on the Rock Creek mine commence. We believe this could occur in 3Q07 but it is dependent upon government review and the timing is not possible to know with certainty”

      Scheinen am Rock Creek Probleme mit Umweltschützern und Behörden zu haben. Solche Geschichten rühre ich aus Prinzip lieber gar nicht erst an. Aber ich habe auch keine Ahnung ob der gestrige Kurssturz damit zu tun hatte…

      Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 32.133.919 von Maigret am 24.10.07 14:49:33Wenn es mit den Umweltbehörden Knarsch gibt, sollte man wirklich durchaus vorsichtig sein!

      Der Kurs zieht wieder an, allerdings sollte man noch aufpassen. Es gibt sicherere Alternativen!

      Ich werde auch weiter beobachten...

      -The Troy Mine (100% basis) generated $6.8 million cash during the nine months ended September 30, 2007 and $2.4 million cash during the third quarter of 2007;

      - Revett Minerals reported consolidated net income after taxes and non controlling interests of $3.9 million or $0.05 per share for the nine months ended September 30, 2007 and at loss of $0.1 million or ($0.00) per share for the three months ended September 30, 2007;

      - Because of the rock fall and related fatality which resulted in a twelve day cessation of under ground mining activities payable metals sales in the third quarter declined to 1.7 million pounds of copper and 181,322 ounces of silver compared to 3.6 million pounds of copper and 376,329 ounces of silver during the second quarter of 2007; and

      - Year to date metal sales are 8.1 million pounds of payable copper and 844,873 ounces of payable silver compared to total metal sales of 6.5 million pounds of copper and 817,250 ounces of silver for the full twelve months of 2006.

      Mr. Bill Orchow, President and CEO, of the Company in commenting on the performance for the third quarter said "This quarter's performance was significantly affected by a rock fall and related fatality that occurred on July 30, 2007 and subsequent reduction in tons mined caused by the temporary closure of certain areas in the East Ore Body. We believe that with the recently received approval to recommence mining in the East Ore Body, the Company will be able to increase production to or above the levels attained during the second quarter."

      Revett Minerals reports that it has jointly acquired 654 acres of grizzly bear habitat specified as part of the grizzly bear enhancement program required to advance the Rock Creek project. In total, Revett Minerals has now acquired 927 acres of the 2,450 acres of mitigation lands specified in the Rock Creek Record of Decision. The Company has now secured title to more land than the 153 acres required for the commencement and completion of the Rock Creek evaluation program.

      Revett Minerals Inc, the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks and The Conservation Fund jointly acquired approximately 654 acres of land in the Bull River Wildlife Management Area from the Plum Creek Timber Company. The Noggle Creek watershed is home to many wildlife and fish species, including moose, big horn sheep, bald eagles, great horned owls and the threatened bull trout. In particular, the Noggle Creek property plays a critical role in protecting a great American icon: the threatened grizzly bear. The Noggle Creek property offers a corridor to grizzlies traveling between the east Cabinets Mountains and the west Cabinet and Yaak Mountains.

      Revett Minerals believes that this cooperative private sector- public sector partnership is an example of how a responsible company can work successfully with government agencies and other organizations to jointly advance programs that benefit wildlife and protect critical habitat in a responsible manner that will benefit future generations of Montanans.

      Bill Orchow, President and CEO of Revett Minerals added "The acquisition of the Noggle Creek property is just another concrete example of how Revett Minerals works with our neighbors to advance our many common goals and in this particular example it is evidence of our Company's commitment to contributing to the recovery of the grizzly bear and bull trout in Montana".

      Federal regulators say their relationship with management at the Troy Mine has deteriorated in the months following a fatal accident there, forcing them to dissolve a partnership with the company after mine management ignored a number of safety recommendations.

      At the same time, inspectors with the Mine Safety and Health Administration have handed down yet another round of violations at the mine, several of which deal specifically with inadequate underground supports.

      Failed support systems have been blamed in the July 30, 2007, collapse that killed 55-year-old mine mechanic Michael Ivins. Last month, MSHA released a report concluding Ivins died because Troy Mine management failed to properly shore up the rock roof, despite repeated warnings of dangerous conditions.

      Revett Minerals has challenged that finding, but the federal violations continue to mount.

      In MSHA's latest safety inspection, completed Feb. 6, regulators handed down 28 citations and 13 orders (orders are considered more serious than citations). Several of the violations related to underground supports.

      Since the July accident, investigators have levied 113 citations and 25 orders against the company.

      Revett, however, is challenging most of the violation notices related to ground support problems, and is asking regulators why, if conditions are so bad, the federal government has decided to pull out of a cooperative agreement with the mine.

      That voluntary agreement was signed in February 2006, and went above and beyond MSHA's normal regulatory requirements.

      According to MSHA spokeswoman Amy Louviere, it established better communication lines between miners and regulators in an attempt to mitigate the dangers of underground mining. It created accident-reduction initiatives, she said, and set up avenues for the company to cooperate with investigators.

      But agency officials felt their relationship with the company “began deteriorating in the wake of the investigation into the July 2007 fatality,” Louviere said, and regulators were concerned because “the company had resisted a number of recommendations put forth by MSHA.”

      Another collapse, in the last week of 2007, heightened those concerns, and on Jan. 11 MSHA sent a letter to mine manager Doug Miller. That letter canceled the agreement between MSHA and the company, citing “the recent tragic event and ongoing issues.”

      Among those issues is the contention that safety recommendations made by the Mine Safety and Health Administration have been “resisted” by the company, Louviere said.

      Mine manager Miller responded in a Jan. 17 letter to regulators, saying he was “disappointed” and adding “it is our belief that it is just as important now, if not more important, that we continue to work cooperatively with MSHA to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.”

      Miller's letter did not, however, address how that cooperation might have been affected by the company's resistance to MSHA's safety recommendations.

      Carson Rife, vice president of operations at Revett, said he was unaware of any resistance to federal safety recommendations, and added his company intends to continue working cooperatively with the federal government, despite regulators' decision to terminate the agreement.

      “We want to try to do whatever is best for workplace safety,” Rife said. “We thought the cooperative agreement with MSHA was a good way to make sure that happened.”

      The mine, he said, recently celebrated six months without a lost-time accident.
