      Ebenfalls heute drauf gestossen:

      Profitabel; 2,7facher Buchwert, gut 40-facher 07er Gewinn,...

Amtech Reiterates Strong Business Fundamentals and Outlook

TEMPE, Ariz.--December 14, 2007--Amtech Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASYS - News), a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and silicon wafers, today reiterated its strong business fundamentals, order growth, and outlook for fiscal year 2008.

For fiscal 2008, Amtech has guided for revenue to be in the range of $65 to $75 million, representing growth of approximately 40% to 60% over fiscal 2007.

As the Company stated in its fourth quarter earnings release dated December 12, 2007, Amtech’s sequential revenue guidance for its fiscal 2008 first quarter ended December 31, 2007 was adversely impacted by the timing of shipment and acceptance of several systems moving into the second quarter of fiscal 2008. This change has no impact on the Company’s underlying business conditions or fundamentals. Delay’s in delivery or product acceptance by a customer can have a significant impact on Amtech’s recorded sales in any given quarter, given its diffusion system’s average selling prices are greater than $500,000 and often include tools with sale prices in excess of $1 million.

      Financial highlights:

      * Fiscal 2008 year-to-date (since October 1, 2007) solar orders totaling approximately $19 million.

      * Record FY2007 bookings of $55.5 million, up 40% compared to FY2006

      Orders in Q4 FY2007 of $15.6 million, resulting in a book-to-bill ratio of 1.2

      * Total order backlog at September 30, 2007 of $23.2 million, a 70% increase over the prior year.

      * Total order backlog includes approximately $17.4 million in solar orders, representing a 128% increase over $7.6 million of solar backlog at September 30, 2006. The $17.4 million in solar backlog does not include the additional $19 million in solar orders received in Q1 of fiscal 2008. Backlog includes deferred revenue and customer orders that are expected to ship within fiscal 2008.

      * Q4 FY2007 solar book-to-bill ratio of 2.2

TEMPE, Ariz., Aug 13, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Amtech Systems, Inc.

, a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and silicon wafers, today reported results for its fiscal 2008 third quarter ended June 30, 2008.
Third Quarter and Fiscal YTD Highlights:
-- Net revenue of $24.1 million, up 88% from the prior year quarter and up 37% sequentially
-- Solar revenue of $16.6 million, compared to $3.9 million in the prior year quarter
-- Operating income of $1.7 million and 6.9% of revenue; or $2.0 million and 8.4% of revenue excluding $0.3 million of restructuring charges
-- Net income of $1.2 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, compared to $1.0 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, in the prior year quarter
-- Quarter-end backlog of approximately $60.1 million, up 191% from the prior year quarter
-- Quarter-end solar backlog of $44.2 million, compared to $11.5 million in the prior year quarter
-- Solar orders totaled $8.4 million, compared to $8.1 million in the prior year quarter
-- Semiconductor orders totaled $11.7 million, compared to $9.3 million in the prior year quarter
-- Fiscal year-to-date orders total $89 million; solar orders total $60 million and semiconductor orders total $29 million
      -- Fiscal year-to-date book-to-bill of 1.6 with solar at 1.6 and semiconductor at 1.6
J.S. Whang, President and Chief Executive Officer of Amtech, commented: "The strong growth in solar shipments in the quarter reflects the continuing increase in customer demand for our solar products, and our improved operational execution to leverage these higher volumes helped us achieve solid operating results. While solar bookings were lighter in Q3 than in Q2, we still generated more than $20 million in overall orders during the quarter (solar and semiconductor), and are well on our way to surpassing $100 million in total bookings (solar and semiconductor) for fiscal 2008. We remain optimistic about our order pipeline and have a healthy backlog to fuel us in the fourth quarter and into fiscal 2009.
"While semiconductor revenues are down year-to-date from fiscal 2007, we are pleased with the recent order activity and healthy book-to-bill ratios. There continues to be uncertainty within the semiconductor industry and we remain cautious about future order activity. Overall, this quarter truly demonstrates our progress toward achieving our operational objectives, and our successful transition from being a semiconductor dominant company to a solar dominant equipment supplier."
Net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2008 totaled $24.1 million, up 88% compared to the fiscal 2007 third quarter and up 37% sequentially from the second quarter of fiscal 2008. The increase resulted from higher sales to the solar industry which was partially offset by lower shipments to the semiconductor industry.
At June 30, 2008, the Company's order backlog was $60.1 million, compared to backlog of $20.7 million at June 30, 2007, and includes $44.2 million in solar orders, representing a 284% increase over the Company's solar backlog of $11.5 million at June 30, 2007. Backlog includes deferred revenue and customer orders that are expected to ship within the next 6-12 months.
Gross margin in the third quarter was 29%, compared to 27% in the third quarter of fiscal 2007, due primarily to higher shipment volumes and the related efficiencies and economies of scale, offset by higher warranty costs and higher deferred profit. Amtech deferred $1.8 million of profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, net of acceptances, compared to a net deferral of $0.7 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.
Selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses were $4.8 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2008, compared to $2.7 million in the third quarter of 2007. The increase in SG&A expenses was due primarily to $1.1 million of increased selling expense related to commissions on higher revenues generated in regions where third party sales agents are utilized, SG&A expenses at R2D (which was acquired in the first quarter of fiscal 2008), stock-based compensation expenses, increased depreciation and operating costs for the Company's new building in The Netherlands and increased personnel and consulting costs. Depreciation and amortization was $395,000 in the third quarter of fiscal 2008, compared to $195,000 in the same period a year ago. Included in the third quarter fiscal 2008 results is $125,000 of stock option expense, compared to $117,000 in the third quarter of fiscal 2007.
Amtech recorded $344,000 in restructuring charges in the third quarter of fiscal 2008 related to its Bruce Technologies division to better position the division for profitability in light of lower plant utilization resulting from a slowdown in the semiconductor industry.
Income taxes in the third quarter of fiscal 2008 were $765,000, reflecting an effective tax rate of approximately 40%. In the third quarter of fiscal 2007, Amtech recorded a net tax benefit of $233,000 as a result of reductions in the valuation allowance on deferred tax assets.
Net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2008 was $1.2 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, compared to net income of $1.0 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, for the third quarter of fiscal 2007.
For the nine months ended June 30, 2008, net revenue totaled $53.5 million, a 63% increase over $32.9 million for the same period in fiscal 2007. Net income was $1.4 million, or $0.16 per diluted share, compared to $1.3 million, or $0.25 per diluted share, for the same period in fiscal 2007.
      Outlook
For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008, Amtech anticipates revenue to be in the range of $22 to $24 million, representing growth of approximately 68% to 83% over the fiscal 2007 fourth quarter. Operating margin, as a percentage of revenue, is expected to be slightly lower in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2008 (excluding the effects of the restructuring charge), due to a heavier product mix of specialty furnace systems (R&D-type furnaces) that require higher material and labor costs, and due to higher commission rates.
For fiscal year 2008, Amtech anticipates revenue to be in the range of $75 to $77 million, representing growth of 63% to 67% over fiscal 2007.
Operating results for the fourth quarter could be impacted by the timing of system shipments, the net impact of revenue deferral on those shipments, and recognition of revenue based on customer acceptances, all of which can have a significant effect on operating results.

ASYS zählt auf jedenfall weiter zu meinen Top Solarwerten, zusammen mit EMKR und AXTI(bargain) die sehr stark in den Zukunfträchtigen CPV Module Markt drängen.

Amtech Systems Inc. saw jumps in its net income and revenue, driven in large part by its investment in solar technology.

The company saw net income grow to $860,000, or 9 cents a share, in its first fiscal quarter ending in December, easily besting its $108,000 results from the same quarter in fiscal 2008.

Amtech (Nasdaq:ASYS) posted revenue of $17.9 million, up 52 percent from the same quarter last year, with $11.1 million coming from solar companies. Those results may not last, however, as the green sector is being weighed down by the U.S. recession.

“While we continue to maintain a long-term positive outlook for growth in the solar industry and an eventual upturn in activity within the semiconductor industry, the current global economic crisis is impacting our solar customers’ expansion plans and dampening demand for our products,” said J.S. Whang, company president and CEO, in a statement.

Amtech, a Tempe-based manufacturer of equipment for the semiconductor and solar industries, also reported a reduction of about 12 percent in its full-time work force during the first quarter.

Amtech officials expect to get hit by the slowdown in the second quarter, forecasting revenue in the $12 million to $14 million range and projecting a pot

We are exiting our position in Amtech Systems Inc (ASYS) at its $5.65 close yesterday because the stock is trading at a substantial premium to our valuation. We opened the position at $2.78, so we’re up 103.2% on an absolute basis. The S&P500 Index closed at 712.87 on the day we opened the position and closed yesterday at 944.74, which means we’re up 70.9% on a relative basis.

      Post mortem

We initiated the position in ASYS at its $2.78 closing price on March 5, 2009 (see our initial post here). At $2.78, the company had a market capitalization of $25.3M. We estimated the liquidation value to be almost 60% higher at $40M or $4.40 per share. ASYS was trading at a little under two-thirds of our estimate of its value in liquidation, but, unusually, had continued to generate positive operating cash flow and earnings in a difficult operating environment.

Management seemed to have recognized that the stock was too cheap, and authorized a $4M stock buy-back. Our only criticism was that the buy-back could have been bigger. A private investor, Mr. Richard L. Scott, had disclosed a 7.0% holding in July last year. Mr Scott continued to purchase stock, and, as of February 17 this year, held 9.1% of ASYS’s outstanding stock. We don’t know anything about Mr. Scott, but we liked seeing a large stockholder increasing his stake when the stock price dropped. For those reasons, we thought ASYS represented very good value at a discount to its liquidation value and that’s why we added it to the Greenbackd Portfolio.

Full Disclosure: We have a holding in ASYS. This is neither a recommendation to buy or sell any securities. All information provided believed to be reliable and presented for information purposes only. Do your own research before investing in any security.

Amtech Reiterates Fiscal 2010 Revenue Guidance: $100-$105 Million

Amtech Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASYS), a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and silicon wafers, today reiterated its outlook for fiscal 2010 that the Company provided in its first quarter fiscal 2010 results press release on February 9, 2010.

Amtech anticipates revenues in fiscal 2010 to be in the range of $100-$105 million, an 88% to 98% increase from fiscal 2009, with the bulk of the increase occurring in the third and fourth quarters of fiscal 2010. The Company is making a substantial investment in labor, research and development, and facilities to support the growth. These investments will have a short-term negative impact on operating results in the second quarter. Amtech anticipates fiscal 2010 second quarter revenues in the range of $17-$19 million and an operating margin of breakeven to slightly negative due to the build up of production capacity. However, for its fiscal 2010 third and fourth quarters, Amtech expects to see significant positive operating leverage from its business model.

Amtech reports record equipment bookings: high demand for solar cell diffusion equipment
      10 February 2010 | By Mark Osborne | News > Cell Processing

In reporting financial results for its fiscal first quarter, 2010 Amtech Systems noted that it had received record order bookings of US$59.4 million, led by US$55.3 million for solar equipment, primarily for its diffusion technology. The company noted that PV manufacturers need to boost cell efficiencies was driving the demand for its technology.

“We are very pleased with the tremendous order momentum in our fiscal first quarter and the announced orders so far in our second quarter,” commented J.S. Whang, President and Chief Executive Officer of Amtech. “The high level of orders we have received fiscal year-to-date reflect the growing number of top-tier solar cell manufacturers that are recognizing the high quality and reliability of our diffusion technology and our capability to support their pursuit of higher efficiency solar cells. These orders include significant follow-on orders from existing customers and six new customer wins. We continue to see good quotation activity and believe the intense race within the solar industry to increase cell efficiency will continue to drive demand for our diffusion technology and related products.”

Amtech reported net revenue of US$15.5 million in the quarter, up 32% sequentially from US$11.7 million. Solar revenue was US$11.9 million, compared to US$8.9 million in the previous quarter.

Total order backlog stood at a record US$74.4 million, up 130% from total backlog of US$32.4 million at September 30, 2009. Total backlog at December 31, 2009 includes US$69.7 million in solar orders, compared to solar backlog of US$27.9 million at September 30, 2009.

Amtech noted that due to demand from solar cell manufacturers it anticipates revenues in fiscal 2010 to be in the range of US$100-$105 million, an 88% to 98% increase from fiscal 2009.

With the large backlog the company expects revenue to mainly occur in the third and fourth quarters of fiscal 2010.

Amtech reiterates Fiscal 2010 revenue guidance of $100-$105 Million

Posted by Debasish Choudhury on 09 April 2010 at 08:39

Amtech Systems, Inc., a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and silicon wafers, today announced that it is reiterating its fiscal 2010 revenue guidance of $100-$105 million, based on its strong solar backlog and continued success in ramping up operations. Additionally, the Company expects GAAP operating margins to equal or exceed 10 percent in the second half of fiscal 2010.

Orders in the second quarter of fiscal 2010 totaled $33 million, including $28 million of solar orders. Amtech’s total orders in the first six months of fiscal 2010, which began October 1, 2009, have surpassed $92 million, including $83 million of solar orders. Amtech also reported preliminary revenue and results today for its fiscal 2010 second quarter ended March 31, 2010. Amtech’s preliminary revenue for the second quarter is approximately $16 million, representing a 46% increase over the same period a year ago. Second quarter preliminary revenue is lower than the Company’s previous guidance of $17-$19 million due primarily to a rescheduling of several systems to one customer; two of these systems shipped in early April and the remaining are expected to ship next week. As a result of lower second quarter revenue and ramp up of operating costs to support the growth in the second half of fiscal 2010, Amtech expects to report a loss for the quarter ended March 31, 2010.

J.S. Whang, Chief Executive Officer of Amtech, commented, “With the tremendous influx of orders we have seen in the December and March quarters, we continue to successfully ramp up our operations to profitably manage our rapid growth. Within a very short period of time, we have more than doubled our production capacity and have added key personnel across all areas to execute our record order bookings. While there is still much to accomplish, we are on track to produce record volumes in the June and September quarters and to deliver on our revenue guidance of $100-$105 million for fiscal 2010.”

The fiscal 2010 second quarter financial information included in this release is preliminary and subject to change based on the Company’s quarterly close procedures. Operating results for future quarters could be impacted by the timing of system shipments, the net impact of revenue deferral on those shipments, and recognition of revenue based on customer acceptances, all of which can have a significant effect on operating results.
