Im vergangenen Jahr wurden vier Milliarden grenzüberschreitende Gesprächsminuten über das öffentliche Internet oder firmeneigene Intranets abgewickelt. Das entspricht etwa drei Prozent des internationalen Telefonverkehrs. Dies geht aus einer Schätzung der Internationalen Telekommunikations-Union (ITU) hervor, die zu einem am Mittwoch in Genf beginnenden Seminar einen Bericht über die IP-Telefonie veröffentlicht hat.
Gespräche über das Internet sind wesentlich billiger als über herkömmliche Leitungen. Durch die technische Entwicklung wird die anfangs mangelhafte Gesprächsqualität immer besser. US-Unternehmen nutzen das zum Beispiel, um ihre Kunden in den USA über ein Callcenter in Indien zu bedienen. Die Gespräche werden über IP- Netzwerke über Tausende Kilometer hin- und her transportiert.

Die zunehmende Popularität der IP-Telefonie trifft vor allem die staatlichen Telekom-Unternehmen. Besonders betroffen sind Entwicklungsländer: In Sri Lanka ist die Zahl der ankommenden Gesprächsminuten aus dem Ausland im vergangenen Jahr etwa von 16 Millionen Minuten im Monat auf 9 Millionen Minuten gefallen. Dadurch verliert die Telekom-Gesellschaft zwei Mio. $ im Monat.
Im internationalen Telefonverkehr zahlt die Gesellschaft, die den Anruf im Ursprungsland vermittelt, der Gesellschaft im Ankunftsland einen Teil der Einnahmen aus dem Gesprächen. Länder, die traditionell viele Landsleute im Ausland haben, die regelmäßig die Daheimgebliebenen anrufen, haben davon in der Vergangenheit erheblich profitiert. Insgesamt schätzt die ITU die Einnahmen der Entwicklungsländer aus derartigen Kompensationszahlungen während der 90er Jahre auf 50 Mrd. $ im Jahr.

Sie hätten das Monopol von China Telecom verletzt, hieß es. Der Berufungsrichter hob das Urteil allerdings auf. Das Ministerium erkannte plötzlich die ungeahnten Chancen. Drei Unternehmen wurden inzwischen damit beauftragt, Netze aufzubauen. Das System wird rasant ausgebaut. Im nächsten Jahr rechnet die Regierung mit Einnahmen aus der Internet-Telefonie von mehr als zwölf Mrd. $.

Davnet [X.DVT] today formally announced a $A35 million capital raising initiative, allowing the company - for the time being, at least - to blow off an unremitting burn rate that has eaten into its promising overseas revenue generators.
Whether the fundraiser gets the `thumbs up` with investors will be determined as soon as the `pre-open` suspension in trading in the stock on the ASX is lifted - probably tomorrow morning. Its shares were placed in `pre-open` yesterday pending the announcement`s release this afternoon.
The announcement must come as a relief for certain BullBoards users who have persistently fought off hecklers and clung doggedly to their investment. It couldn`t be much worse - Davnet`s stock has tumbled to 35c from its high of $A6 in March last year. They believe the raising is just the tonic for an enormous international expansion plan that was fast running out of juice.
"The current business plan forecasts an external funding requirement of around $A26 million by the end of 2002 financial year. It is expected that today`s initiatives will involve the raising of at least $A35 million through a private placement, an equity-linked working capital facility, and a converting note," said the release.
The private placement has already been completed and involved the placement of 38,437,000 ordinary shares at a price of 27c per share, raising $A10.4 million. As initially punted, French bank >BNP Paribas is the broking house behind the transaction, and they have agreed to provde Davnet with a further three-year equity-linked working capital facility. The facility will provide a maximum of $A15 million over the period. BNP Paribas and Davnet have also agreed upon an income-secured convertible note arrangement that will expand the range of additional funding from $A35 million to $A55 million.
A date for shareholder approval has yet to be set.
Described by one Australian newspaper this morning as a "penny dreadful" telco stock, the Davnet Group last week posted a sickening first-half bottom line to December 31. The $A48 million net loss was a huge $A98 million about face from the $A50 million net profit posted in the previous corresponding period.
Some investors, however - including a number of regular BullBoards users - have kept the faith, largely because the company has more than doubled its revenue in a year to $A34 million - signs, they say, of hope. Others are less easy, pointing to the unhealthy bottom line as a sign, instead, of the horrendous burn-rate typical of technology stocks in general.
But the believers are sticking to new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Robert Turner`s claims that the company will turn profitable by 2003, and reap revenue of nearly $200 million from an expansion in global activities within two years as it moves from an entrepreneurial company to an established player in the global telecommunications industry.
Turner has hammered home his point on a gruelling month-long roadshow. He points out that the kingpin Australian operations are exceedingly healthy and on their way to positive earnings within a month from now. He is pinning his hopes on the success of the Australian model being replicated in Asia and North America, with all operations EBITDA positive in March 2003.
That, however, is still 24 months away and, in the meantime, the cost of new operations in Singapore, the US and Canada remains high. In a story on Davnet by SHfn last week, an unnamed analyst agreed that a capital raising was absolutely necessary, soon, if the company was to outlive its worrying burn rate.
"Davnet now has more than sufficient funds to complete our current business plan," said Turner today on announcing the placement. "This plan forecasts an approximate doubling of revenues in the current financial year and an approximate doubling again in 2002.
"These equity-based facilities will allow us to pursue vigorously our strategy of driving revenue growth in our Australian, Asian and North American markets by giving us funding security together with scope to supplement our needs if required," he added.

Das ist alles normal man wartet ab ......aber wenn die Aktie steigt dann ist die Hölle los es waren auch Käufer da also es geht weiter mit Davnet und das ist die Hauptsache .
Habe selber bei 0,36, 0,24 , 0,19 also auch 0,21 gekauft aber die bei 3 oder bei 1 Euro gekauft haben das tut weh aber auch ich und viele anderen haben viel Geld verloren

Hi Leute !!-- Ich gehöre auch zu denen, die viel Geld in Davnet
investiert haben und denke trotz der schlechten Situation
daran, daß Davnet bestimmt in den nächsten Monaten sich weiter erholen wird
und am Ende des Jahres wieder knapp bei 0,80 stehen wird ( hoffe ich jedenfalls) !!
Ich glaube, wer soviel positive Nachrichten präsentieren kann, muß sich nicht
um seine Zukunft sorgen machen.Ab 2003 geht die Post ab und Davnet schreibt gute Gewinne !!!!

(HONG KONG, 26TH MARCH 2001): David Digitel Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of integrated broadband communications solutions provider Davnet Limited, today announced the launch of its first Internet Broadcast Center service.
The Davnet IBC service provides live, real-time streaming video simultaneously to thousands of people using minimal amounts of bandwidth. This innovative-yet-reliable, easy-to-use solution comes at a fraction of the price of conventional streaming services.
Davnet’s multicast solution uses Cast365 software technology developed by EGC&C Co. Limited of Seoul, South Korea. Provisioning is by systems and applications specialists solution100 Limited.
“Our multicast solution is scalable so transmitting to 1,000, 10,000 or even 100,000 recipients is a practical option,” said Mr. Eric Chan, Managing Director of Davnet Asia. “It is also very affordable – there are substantial savings from not having to use so much bandwidth.”

Existing streaming systems rely on either “unicasting” or hardware-friendly multicasting. Unicasting requires each recipient to have his or her own bandwidth intensive channel. Traditional multicasting can reach many people at the same time, but requires every router in a network to be aligned to handle multicasting.
The Davnet alternative uses Cast365, an IP-based system that overcomes the limitations of existing video streaming technologies. The software-based technology uses repeaters to ensure that the signals reach the client’s local area network. The client’s LAN then transmits through to end-users. For example, 100Kbps bandwidth can be sufficient to serve 1,000 separate viewers at the same; a comparable unicast system may require 1,000Mbps.
“The Cast365 software approach unplugs the bottleneck that has made multicasting such a disappointment to date,“ Mr. Chan said. “EGC&C estimates the cost savings can be as much as 75 per cent.”
“Plus, quality improves,” he added. “A common criticism with streamed multimedia is that picture and audio plummets as the number of customers increases. Each end user receives the same high quality visual and audio as the next one, whether viewing on a small screen or a full screen.”
Organizations using Davnet’s multicast video streaming have the choice of hosting their IBC services on their own servers or in Davnet’s data center. Clients using their own premises need a channel, such as a leased line, to Davnet’s data center. Streaming is possible over fiber optic or Tier 1 lines so no special cabling is required.

Existing streaming systems rely on either “unicasting” or hardware-friendly multicasting. Unicasting requires each recipient to have his or her own bandwidth intensive channel. Traditional multicasting can reach many people at the same time, but requires every router in a network to be aligned to handle multicasting.
The Davnet alternative uses Cast365, an IP-based system that overcomes the limitations of existing video streaming technologies. The software-based technology uses repeaters to ensure that the signals reach the client’s local area network. The client’s LAN then transmits through to end-users. For example, 100Kbps bandwidth can be sufficient to serve 1,000 separate viewers at the same; a comparable unicast system may require 1,000Mbps.
“The Cast365 software approach unplugs the bottleneck that has made multicasting such a disappointment to date,“ Mr. Chan said. “EGC&C estimates the cost savings can be as much as 75 per cent.”

Clients using their own premises need a channel, such as a leased line, to Davnet’s data center. Streaming is possible over fiber optic or Tier 1 lines so no special cabling is required.

Ich bin nun auch schon seit geraumer Zeit in Davnet investiert, bin bei 0,95€ eingestiegen, habe dann erst Gewinne gemacht, die auch realisiert, um dann wieder reinzugehen und den Absturz mitzuerleben!
Habe inzwischen des öfteren nachgekauft, so daß mein mittlerer Einstandskurs bei 0,33€ liegt, ich werde kein Stück aus der Hand geben, sondern sollten Sie weiter fallen nochmals nachkaufen und somit den Kurs verbilligen!
Mir ist es im Moment total egal, wo Sie derzeit liegen, finde es sogar ganz gut, da wir so günstig an die Scheine kommen, gehe davon aus, daß wir Ende des Jahres deutlich höhere Kurse haben, da ist dann auch Davnet dabei!
Wollte mich heute nur mal zu Wort melden, da ich einer von denen bin, der hier immer fleißig am lesen ist, vielen Dank an die anderen, die sich mit Davnet so ausgibig beschäftigt haben und dieses auch hier niederschreiben!

ich muss echt sagen das Du absolute Steherqualitäten hast.Das zeigen Deine unzähligen Mails die Du hier postest.Ist auch klasse für Leute die sowohl Timeless als auch Davnet haben...wie Wir beide.
Leider sind beide Werte nichts mehr Wert und wer hier noch von ungeahnten Kursphantasien spricht muss sich fragen ob es nicht das " Schreien im Wald " ist.Ich kann jedenfalls keinerlei gute Berichte finden die einen Kursanstieg bewerkstelligen könnten.
Zu Timeless : Red Flag Linux hat nix mit Timeless zu tun was viele hofften oder hoffen.
Zu Davnet : Trotz guter Zahlen interessiert sich keiner für einen Wert den " Der Aktionär " mit einem Kursziel von 4 Euro empfohlen hatte.Komisch..aber bald haben Wir statt 4 Euro..4 Cent.
Langsam finde ich es wirklich komisch wie einige versuchen den Kopf aus der immer enger werdenden Schlinge zu ziehen.
Wer teuer eingekauft hat und jetzt von verbilligen redet der will doch nur so weit runterkommen um die Papiere mit möglichst wenig Verlust zu verkaufen.Ich sehe da überhaupt kein Vertrauen in die Firmen.
Aber Kastor....ich werde weder verkaufen ( im Moment ) noch nachkaufen..einfach liegenlassen...und danke Dir dass Du diese Boards noch am Leben hältst.Du postest ja fast allein bis auf einige Antworten ( wie jetzt von mir ).

weil ich überzeugt davon bin das es die Firma in absehbarer zeit nicht mehr gibt.

wenn man sich den 3 Jahreschat ansieht läuft ja alles

AUD$2,385
Davnet Limited (ASX code: DVT), the international provider of
integrated broadband communications solutions, today announced that
its core Australian operations have turned EBITDA positive. The
announcement was made as Davnet released its operating and financial
results for the nine months ended 31st March 2001.
Overall, the Davnet Group is targetting to turn EBITDA positive
during fiscal year 2003 based on current run rates.
"Davnet`s core operations in Australia have turned EBITDA positive
against an intensely competitive industry backdrop," said Davnet
Ltd`s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Robert
H Turner. "This is a very important milestone, and reinforces the
soundness of our strategy of utilizing the latest technology while
maximising the return from our presence in existing locations and
leveraging agreements that allow Davnet to access and serve customers
through our network of partners within the Telecommunications
Eco-System."
Total group operating revenues in Q3FY2001 were AUD$17.2million or
100% higher than for the corresponding period in FY2000. Compared
with Q2FY2001 all businesses, except data storage subsidiary
eDataGroup, showed revenue growth despite tight market conditions.
The eDataGroup was affected by increased costs for imported products
owing to the unfavourable foreign exchange rate as well as major
corporates deferring orders.
Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) increased 10.5%, from AUD$2,158 in
Q2FY01 to AUD$2,385 during Q3FY01. ARPU is an important indicator of
increased usage and penetration of Davnet services across the client
base. A focus on strengthening sales teams and improving the sales to
non-sales staff ratio will continue, with total staff being reduced
to 393 from 442 as a result of middle management restructuring.
Davnet`s senior management team continued to implement a program of
significant operating cost reductions. During the quarter, operating
expenses were reduced by $3.8 million from 2QFY01 although a one-off
restructure cost of AUD$2.7 million was incurred.
"The industry experienced pressures on IT&T spending with the global
economic slowdown and corresponding inventory corrections during Q3,"
said Mr Turner. "However, even in the face of these significant
marketplace challenges our senior management team expects to maintain
sales rates for FY2001 that will result in an approximate doubling of
our FY2000 revenue of AUD$40 million. This forecast is lower than the
previous forecast of AUD$95.4 million."
"We will continue to manage our cash expenditures in line with
available reserves, and our total cash-burn rate will remain on-track
to support our 9-city organic growth business model through the end
of 2002. We plan to provide updated information on next years
prospects in the near future ahead of our upcoming converting note
