TESTING UPDATE
PEP 157, ONSHORE GIPPSLAND BASIN, VICTORIA

Lakes Oil (“LKO”) advises that a test is planned over the interval 2104 metres to 2107 metres in the Wombat 3 well next Tuesday 30 November and Wednesday 1 December. This test is designed to access a gas “kick” and oil fluorescence which occurred during drilling, but could not be tested at that time, due to the inability to obtain testing equipment.

Lakes Oil also advises that equipment is due to begin arriving onsite at the North Seaspray 3 well on 5 December in preparation to drill a 300 metre horizontal underbalanced extension to the current well.

It is planned to drill horizontally using a coiled tubing unit, in the hope we can increase the gas previously encountered in this well to commercial levels.

An overriding royalty of 5% of the wellhead value of any hydrocarbon production is payable to Roma Petroleum N.L. a former holder of the permit PEP 157.

TESTING WOMBAT 3 & HORIZONTAL DRILLING NORTH SEASPRAY 3

Lakes Oil ("LKO") advises that due to heavy rains in East Gippsland overnight and continued problems in acquiring testing personnel, testing of Wombat 3 has been further delayed. Current expectation is that testing will now take place Friday. This test is designed to access a gas "kick" and oil fluorescence which occurred while drilling at 2104 metres to 2107 metres. Due to shortage of testing equipment at the time test was delayed until now. Because of activity in oil and gas exploration, people and equipment are still in short supply.

North Seaspray 3

Equipment and personnel are on site at North Seaspray 3. A 300 metre horizontal well will be drilled out of the bottom of the existing well. It is planned to drill this horizontal section underbalanced using Nitrogen and Diesel to circulate up the cuttings.

We believe this is the first time this technique has been used in Victoria and we are hopeful that we can increase the gas flow already encountered in this well.

We expect operations to get underway Friday.

Die folgenden sechs Monate formt bis zu sind eine entscheidende Periode für Seeöl NL, wie das Melbourne Forscher sich vorbereitet, auf festes Gas im onshore Bassin Gippsland zu prüfen gründete.

In Uebereinstimmung mit dem Geist seines Renommees als Pionier in der Öl- und Gasindustrie Australiens, werden Seen hoffen, die Kritiker mit dem upcoming ` festen Gasprojekt Trifon ` zu verwirren, indem sie prüfen, daß handelsübliche Mengen Kohlenwasserstoffe nicht gerade im Baß-Strait bestehen.

Der Fokus von Erforschung-Bemühungsover der Seen die kommenden sechs Monate ist PEP 157, wo Partner der Seen, Uns-gegründete Betriebsmittel AusAm, zwei Brunnen mit den vorgerückten bohrentechniken bohrt, die so erfolgreiches in den festen Gasbassins von mid-continental USA geprüft haben.

Letzter September, AusAm schloß einen farminvertrag mit Seen. Unter Bezeichnungen der Vereinbarung, würde die nichte aufgeführt, privat-besessene Firma der Operator von PEP 156, 157 und 158 werden und ein 50%-Interesse an jeder Erlaubnis erwerben, indem sie bis $10 Millimeter aufwendete.

Im Januar informierten Seen die australische Börse, daß AusAm, die eine Mappe der festen Gasprojekte in Queensland und in Westaustralien genommen haben, einen Brief der Verpflichtung von den Finanzieren für ein Minimum $10 Millimeter und ein Maximum von $12,5 Millimeter erhalten hatte.

Seen ölen Vorsitzenden, Fruchtsirup Annells, sagten, daß er hätte haben gemocht spudded das erste der Brunnen Trifon bereits. Jedoch haben die Finanziere etwas "hiccups", gehabt die Kapital zu erhalten wegen des Effektes des Krieges im Irak.

"wir erwarten nicht, viel länger zu warten, wie einige ihrer technischen Leute bereits hier, wir haben erledigt Arbeit über die Auflage sind und die Anlage", sagte Annells ausgerichtet wird.

Letztes Jahr, Seen bohrte drei stratigraphic Bohrungen in der Erlaubnis, die den nullrand der goldenen onshore Strandanordnung bestätigte.

Annells sagte, daß Öldienstleistungen riesiges Halliburton das Potential für Produktion durch Bruchanregung des Vorratsbehälter Strzelecki in den Brunnen Gangell und Trifon wiederholt hatte, aber die mögliche Gasproduktion abhängig von Wasserwiederaufnahmenniveaus ist.

Jedoch sagte Annells, daß die Projektionen wegen der sehr niedrigen Kosten sehr positiv sind, die im Vergleich mit der Hochseebohrung dazugehörig sind.

"jede mögliche Strömungsgeschwindigkeit von der onshore Produktion konnte sein bescheiden und kommerziell noch sein. Wir glauben, daß wir mit unterstützter Rate von über 1 MMcfd wegen der Position rentabel sein könnten ", sagte er.

"der qualifizierte Report von Halliburton hat die Möglichkeit des Zurückgewinnens bis 17 MMcfd von Gas angezeigt, das,
wenn erfolgreich, seien Sie zweifellos kommerziell. "jedoch, muß an es erinnert werden, daß dieser Report auf Daten von unseren alten Brunnen basiert und muß mit einem neuen Brunnen bestätigt werden, der bestimmt ist für Bruchanregung.",

Annells, das abgesehen von dem Mosaik gesagt wird, die gute Strömungsgeschwindigkeiten von den festen Vorratsbehälter an seinen Brunnen Churchie im Suratbassin Queenslands erzielt haben, bohrend für Gas von den festen Bassins ist noch in seiner Kindheit in Australien.

Annells sagte die Bohrung von Gregory River-3 in Bassin Maryborough Queenslands durch Magellan und Novus mit Luft anstelle vom herkömmlichen bohrenschlamm, hat enorme Implikationen für Seen.

"wenn es (Fluß Gregory) 2 bis 3 MMcfd fließt, dann sind wir eine sichere Sache in Gippsland. Die Geologie ist dieselbe. Fluß Gregory ist ähnliche Porosität und Permeabilität "tiefer, mit, gesagtes Annells.

Öl Amity, das gerade vor kurzem einen farminvertrag mit einer koreanischen Vereinigung für sein Streckengasfield Whicher schloß, wird auch underbalanced die Bohrung zum Versuch und entriegelt Gas von diesem problematischen Feld verwenden, das im südlichen Perthbassin gelegen ist.

"es ist nicht in den US neu. Jedoch ist es in Australien sehr neu. In den US mehr als, das 15.000 Brunnen gebohrt worden sind, underbalanced verglichen mit nur Dutzend oder so in Australien.

"als wir Trifon-1 bohrten, hatten wir grobes Spaltengas von ungefähr 800 m und wenn wir das erhalten können, um dann zu fließen, wurde es sehr interessant. Besonders wegen seiner Position, da wir buchstäblich unter der Rohrleitung "sein würden, sagte Annells.

"wir sind über es recht optimistisch, weil wir die Gelegenheit anderwohin in unsere Erlaubnis, sie zu wiederholen sehen, wenn es funktioniert.",

Während das Gasprojekt Trifon den Verstand der Hauptleiter der Seen vor kurzem konzentriert hat, hat es die Firma nicht vom Ausüben anderer Projekte in Südaustralien und in Victoria gestoppt.

Gerade vor kurzem, flogen Seen das revolutionäre System des BHP-Falkeairboneschwerkraftgradiometer (AGG) über Seeeingang in PEP 155.

Die Übersicht Weiterverfolgen von zwei Kernbohrungen (Bunga Creek-1 und 2) mit einem drittem jetzt planend. Trotz der Mischresultate mit den Kernbohrungen (man war, das andere hatte nur kleine Kohlenwasserstofferscheinen trocken), sagten Seen, daß die Übung der Firma ein enorme Menge nützliche Informationen gegeben hatte.

Annells sagte den Falken, Übersichts, dietechnologie, die minuziöse Änderungen auf den Schwerkraftgebieten ermitteln kann wegen der Felsendichten, sowie unterirdische Pinnaclereefs des Bildes, Falten und der Störungen, auch über die vom Land entfernte Erlaubnis VIC/P47 geflogen wurde, in der Seen eine Stange mit Operatoradlerbuchtbetriebsmitteln hat.

Seen auch flogen über das vom Land entfernte Feld Patricia Baleen (mit Erlaubnis OMVs, selbstverständlich) und betrachteten die Struktur Gilbert und, entsprechend Annells, sind die Resultate "sehr interessant und haben starke Implikationen für onshore, da es Tendenzen aufdeckt, die niemand hat wirklich gedacht an vorher.",

Was seine vom Land entfernte Südaustralienerlaubnis anbetrifft, EPP 24, Seen sagte, daß es in seinen Bemühungen, eine Hauptfirma anzuziehen fortfährt, während ein farminpartner für diesen Block, der Schon-zusein bewirtet, Gasentdeckung Str. Troas-1 entwickelte.

Abgesehen von der Schwierigkeit des Anziehens eines farminpartners, hat das Aufkommen der Wale, die durch die Erlaubnis überschreiten, eine begrenzte Jahreszeit bedeutet, in der die Firma seismisches erwerben kann.

"die Firma erreichte, Klimazustimmung aber vermißte das Fenster während der anerkannten Periode, in der, seismisches zu erwerben", Annells sagte. "die Firma beabsichtigt, einen Zurückhaltenpachtvertrag über dem Feld Troas in der Vorbereitung für die Produktionsprüfung dieser Entdeckung zu beantragen.",

Seen schaut auch in die Möglichkeit von
die Vorlage, die eine Menge Leutegedanke nicht erfolgt werden könnte, entsprechend Annells gut wieder eintragen. Zu diesem Zweck ist eine Preisangabe für das Vorbereiten der verstopften und verlassenen Str. Troas-1 gut für Re-entry erhalten worden.

"einleitende Diskussionen auf Anlageverwendbarkeit für das Vertiefen der Entdeckung gut zur Vorlage, aber unreached, sind Zielhorizont auch" gehalten worden, sagte er.

Und schließlich, wo Seen mögen in 12 Monaten sein wurde Zeit festzusetzen?

"wir hoffen, kommerzielles Gas aus dem festen Gasfeld Trifon erfolgreich produziert zu haben, und resultierend aus diesem haben eine Anzahl von Brunnen, produzierend hinunter dort", sagte er

"wir würden andere Blöcke im Otway betrachten, in denen genau die gleiche Geologie haben und, in welchen wir behalten noch ein 100%-Interesse.",

PROVINZCGeologie
Die USGS-Provinz 3930 umfaßt das Bassin Gippsland, onshore und vom Land entfernt und die Teile der vor-Tertiären Plattform bis die Süd- und Nordostquadratische Kilometer des totaling 8.1095 (Kilometer 2) ( Fig. 3). Die Provinz verlängert vom Süden von Melbourne, von Victoria, von Südosten über Insel Flinders nach östlich Tasmanien und von Nordosten auf ablandig von Cape Howe am Rand mit New-South.Wales ( Fig. 1). Das Bassin Gippsland umfaßt einen onshore und vom Land entfernten Bereich von Victoria, das ungefähr 4.600 Kilometer 2 ist (Mehin und Bock, 1998). Mehr als 70% des Bassins liegt ablandig. Der vom Land entfernte produzierende Bereich der Provinz ist im Wasser von Victoria. Der südliche Teil der Provinz ist im Wasser von Tasmanien, und die nordöstliche Ecke ist im Wasser von New-South.Wales ( Fig. 1). Das Bassin berechnet 300 Kilometer in der Breite und enthält Sedimente mehr als 8 Kilometer stark (Mehin und Bock, 1998).
TECTONICS
Während spät Jura zur frühen kreidigen Zeit, war das Bassin Gippsland ein Teil eines Riftkomplexes mehreree hundert Kilometer breit, die zwischen dem australischen Plate-/Tasmanfaltenriemen und der antarktischen Platte sich bildeten (Rahmanian und andere, 1990; Etheridge und andere, 1987; Falvey und murmeln, 1981). Dieses Riftsystem Bassian umfaßte drei Hauptbestandteile von Westen zu Osten, das Otway, Baß und Bassins Gippsland (Mehin und Bock, 1998). Bis zum mittlerer-Spät kreidiger Zeit war dieser Riftkomplex der Aufstellungsort der Trennung von Gondwana entlang, was jetzt der südliche Seitenrand von Australien ist (Rahmanian und andere, 1990). Obgleich der späte Jurariftkomplex zwischen Australien und Tasmanien sich befand, traten späte kreidige Trennung und Kreation der Ozeankruste zu westlich von Tasmanien auf (Rahmanian und andere, 1990; Mehin und Bock, 1998). Trennung und Kreation von Ozean verkrusten im neuesten kreidigen Riftfall Tasman weiterkamen entlang die östliche Seite von Tasmanien und Australien, (1) die australische Platte von der kontinentalen Kruste des neuen Aufstieges Zealand/Lord Howe und (2) die antarktische Platte von der kontinentalen Kruste der Campbellhochebene trennend (Rahmanian und andere, 1990), Tasmanien verlassend brachte nach Australien an. Regionale Verlängerung und die Entwicklung der SynSyn-riftabflußrinnen und -vulkanismus, anfangend ungefähr 96 Million Jahren vor (MA), traten im Bassin an Gippsland auf und fingen eine Geschichte getrennt von den anderen zwei Bestandteilen des früheren Riftsystems Bassian an (Mehin und Bock, 1998; Hügel und andere, 1995; Lowry und Longley, 1991).

STRUKTUR
Das Bassin durch Gippsland neigt Ost-West und wird von einem tiefen zentralen enthalten Tiefstand, der symmetrisch bemängelte Terrassen und beständige Plattformen auf dem Norden und südwärts gesprungen wird. Die Nordoder Seen reißen Plattform hin, werden auf den Süden durch die Sewellingtonstörung und gesprungen, südliche Plattform wird auf den Norden durch das Pflegestörungssystem gesprungen ( Fig. 3 und Fig. 4). Sedimente des Bassins ernten heraus im Westen und werden tief ablandig und zum Osten begraben. Der tiefe zentrale Tiefstand (zentrales tiefes) setzt onshore als der Tiefstand Seaspray fort ( Fig. 3 und Fig. 4). Er liegt zwischen die Störung Rosedale, die den südlichen Rand der NordTerrasse Strzelecki definiert, und die Störung Darriman, die den Nordrand der südlichen Terrasse Strzelecki definiert ( Fig. 3).

Die normalen Störungen, die nordwestlich früh zum Südosten, von kreidigem zum frühen Alter Eocene neigen, kennzeichnen den zentralen Tiefstand ( Fig. 3) (Ozimic und andere, 1987). Die Hauptfelder sind in den antiklinalen Fallen, die durch Kompressionsfälle gebildet werden und scheren die Störungen, die mit der Öffnung des Meeres Tasman dazugehörig sind ( Fig. 1). Spätes Eocene zu frühem Oligocene und zu den späten Miocene Altersanticlines sind im Allgemeinen orientierter Südwesten zum Nordosten und sind im zentralen Tiefstand und auf der Nordterrasse (Ozimic und andere, 1987).

Eine Vielzahl der Paleozoic Felsen liegt der Bassinprovinz Gippsland zugrunde. Viel des Bereichs wurde durch die Gletscher umfaßt, die aus Antarktik kamen, gelegen auf den Südwesten, in der frühen Permian Zeit (Bowen und Thomas, 1976). Die Gruppe Strzelecki wird an den verschiedenen Positionen als unconformably überlagern Permian Sedimente, obere Devonian Felsen, unterere Devonian Felsen, Devonian Granit beschrieben, und in anderen Positionen, wie gegen unterere Devonian oder Silurian Betten (Douglas, 1976) bemängelt. Bei einer onshore wohlen Position auf der NordTerrasse Strzelecki nahe der Sewellingtonstörung, einer post-glacial, begrenzten Marine zum deltaic untereren Permian Sandstein, Schiefer und Siltstoneabschnitt wurde mehr als 180 m stark gefaltete Felsen Ordovician überlagernd beschrieben (Bowen und Thomas, 1976; Douglas, 1976). sind kristallener Keller und metamorpher Keller in den onshore Brunnen auf der Seeeingangsplattform beschrieben worden. Eruptivgesteine Extrusive wurden in southerly gut in der Provinz berichtet, die auf der vom Land entfernten Insel Flinders der südlichen Plattform ist. Juraaltersfelsen wurden in den Brunnen lokalisierten onshore auf der südlichen Terrasse Strzelecki im westernmost Bereich der Provinz und auf der NordTerrasse Strzelecki nahe See Wellington (Petroconsultants, 1996) berichtet.

ABSETZUNG
Gruppe Strzelecki
Das Bassin Gippsland schließt niedrigeres kreidiges kontinentales mit ein und die lacustrine Clastics, die in einem extensionalrift niedergelegt werden, neigen den, der entlang dem modernen südlichen Seitenrand von Australien verlängert wird und das sich zwischen der damaligen verbundenen Australienplatte und der antarktischen Platte von Gondwana gebildet hatte. Diese Ablagerungen bekannt als die Gruppe Otway im Bassinbereich Otway des südlichen Seitenrandes, der lokalisierter Nordwesten der Baß-Bassinprovinz 3907 ist ( Fig. 1) und die Gruppe Strzelecki im Bassin Gippsland.

Der bekannte Umfang einer Gruppe nonmarineStrzelecki (Gruppe Korumburra, nahe ablandig; Fischbetten Koonwarra und Gruppe Tyers, Rhyll Arkose, onshore) (Douglas, 1976), ist ungefähr zwischen dem Pflegestörungssystem zum Süden und der Sewellingtonstörung zum Norden und von den Ost Hochländern Gippsland, zu, wo die Schichten von den seismischen Daten gedeutet werden ( Fig. 3 und Fig. 4) (DPIE, 1998; Mehin und Bock, 1998; Douglas, 1976). Die Gruppe erntet aus onshore in den uplifted Störungsblöcken der Hochländer Gippsland (Strecken Strzelecki) und des Nordostens von Yallourn, wenn die Belichtungen mehr als 3.900 Kilometer umfassen, 2 (Douglas, 1976).

Die Gruppe Strzelecki ist vom frühen kreidigen Alter und wurde in einem neigenden Riftbassinost-Westkomplex niedergelegt, der als VorPre-breakuptiefstand anfing und Rift ungefähr 130 MA verließ (Mehin und Bock, 1998). Der Riftkomplex war die östliche Verlängerung des Otway und der Baß-Bassins, die auch Sedimente des ähnlichen Aufbaus und Ablagerungsdes klimas empfingen, die im späten Jura anfängt (Bradshaw, 1993). Die korrelative Gruppe im Bassin Otway ist ein guter coaly Quellfelsen, den Quellen auf mindestens zwei Gebieten gasen (M. Woollands, persönliches commun., 1999 geschrieben).

Erforschung im Bassin Gippsland hat bis jetzt die Gruppe nonmarineStrzelecki betrachtet, ökonomischer Keller und unprospective zu sein (M. Woollands, persönliches commun., 1999 geschrieben), aber neue Forschung prüft z.Z. sein Potential nach (Mehin und Bock, 1998). Die Gruppe tritt im Boden unter der Oberfläche zum Norden und zum Süden der produktiven oberen kreidigen Tendenz (unten besprochen), auf der NordTerrasse Strzelecki und der südlichen Terrasse Strzelecki auf (Douglas, 1976) aber ist nicht unter die meisten der produktiven Tendenz im vom Land entfernten zentralen Tiefstand wegen der bohrentiefen erforscht worden, die im Allgemeinen 5-7 Kilometer übersteigen ( Fig. 4).

Stärke der Gruppe Strzelecki reicht im Allgemeinen von einigen hundert Metern bis zu mehr als 2.600 m (Douglas, 1976, McPhee, 1976), aber geschätzte Stärke in etwas Bereichen ist soviel wie 6.000 m (McPhee, 1976). Die Gruppe besteht aus nonmarinegreywackes, -Mudstones, -sandsteinen, -konglomeraten, -kohlen und -volcanoclastics (Douglas, 1976; Mehin und Bock, 1998). Ablagerungsklimas umfassen Seen, Sümpfe und floodplains.

Unterteilung und Wechselbeziehung der Maßeinheiten innerhalb der Gruppe haben schwieriges geprüft, obgleich Zutageliegen schon in 1856 in Zusammenhang mit Auswertungen der Kohlebetriebsmittel beschrieben wurde (Douglas, 1976; Gloe, 1976; Ritter, 1976). Der unterere Teil der Gruppe Strzelecki besteht aus dem untereren Konglomerat Neocomian Tyers und den feineren gekörnten Äquivalenten niedergelegt auf einer erosional Oberfläche des Paleozoic Alters auf Graniten und metamorphics (Mehin und Bock, 1998). Die Gruppe UpperStrzelecki besteht aus Kohlen, Schiefer, siltstones und vulkanischen Sandsteinen der Anordnung Wonthaggi (Mehin und Bock, 1998). Mittel zu feinkörnigen feldspathic Sandsteinen bilden mehr als 40% vom Zutageliegenbereich (Douglas, 1976). Die Lenticular und Kreuz-gebetteten Sandsteine 60 m stark sind allgemein, und Sandsteinreihenfolgen sind soviel wie 140 m stark in irgendeinem Zutageliegen (Douglas, 1976). Der Sandstein enthält oligoclase, orthoclase, perthite, microcline, Quarz, Biotite, Hornblende, Andesite und Calcit (Douglas, 1976). Mudstonebetten sind soviel wie 130 m stark und sind mineralogisch dem Sandstein ähnlich, außer daß der Mudstone ist dominierend potassic, während der Sandstein dominierend sodic ist (Douglas, 1976).

Mögliche Sandsteinvorratsbehälter innerhalb der überprüften Abstände der Gruppe Strzelecki sind von der geringen Qualität (McPhee, 1976) und haben die schlechte Porosität wegen des diagenetic Lehms und der Änderung der vulkanischen Felsenfragmente. Bessere Vorratsbehälter und gute Erforschungziele können mit einem Erforschungprogramm definiert werden spezifisch für Riftbassinartstratigraphie und -fallen. Das Quelle-Felsenpotential der Kohlen und der lacustrine Schiefer in der Gruppe bekannt schlecht (Mehin und Bock, 1998), obgleich die unter der Oberfläche liegenden Ränder des Ablagerungsumfangs einer Gruppe scheinen, im Ölfenster entlang den Nord- und südlichen Terrassen zu sein (Ozimic und andere, 1987), und Methanauftreten an den Seitenrändern des Bassins kann gewesen sein sourced durch die Gruppe Strzelecki (Mebberson, 1989).

Die unterere kreidige Gruppe Strzelecki wurde durch einen 96 MA Fall verformt und abgefressen, der Kompressionswiederausrichtungen des Breakup von Gondwana umfaßt haben kann ( Fig. 2) (Duff und andere, 1991). Schichten neuest früh des kreidigen durchgehenden Alters Cenomanian sind nicht anwesend. Der späte kreidige zentrale Tiefstand Überlagerns, entwickelt zwischen den Nord- und südlichen Terrassen, hat die Gruppe Strzelecki ablandig zu den Tiefen von mehr als 8 Kilometern (Ozimic und andere, 1987) und z.Z. in die überreife Strecke begraben.

Goldene StrandcGruppe
Die goldene Strandanordnung der Gruppe Latrobe wurde von T. R. Haskell 1972 vom goldenen Strand1A bohrte gut 1967 beschrieben (Lowry, 1987). Diese Anordnung wurde als kontinentaler Sandstein und Schiefer beschrieben, welche die Gruppe Strzelecki und zugrundeliegend der Unconformity innerhalb der N.- senectus- palynomorph zone (Lowry, 1987) überlagert. Seit 1990 ist das niedrigere Latrobe in der Literatur als die goldene Strandgruppe beschrieben worden ( Fig. 2). Die goldene Strandgruppe wurde schnell einer etwas anderen Lagebestimmung in nachlassen, in der extensionalrifttendenz niedergelegt, die überdruckte und bildete sich innerhalb der Tendenz, die während der Absetzung der Gruppe Strzelecki bestand. Der Rift wurde durch Tiefwasserseen und besetzt und folgte dem Breakup des südlichen australischen Seitenrandes, wurde durch Marinewasser überschwemmt (Duff und andere, 1991; Rebhuhn, 1996). Wo die goldene Strandgruppe anwesend ist, steht sie unconformably auf der Gruppe Strzelecki still ( Fig. 4). Mineralogie ändert von volcanogenic in der Gruppe Strzelecki zum quartzose in der goldenen Strandgruppe (Mehin und Bock, 1998).

The Golden Beach Group is divided into the Turonian age Emperor sub-group and the Santonian to Campanian age Golden Beach sub-group (also referred to as the Golden Beach Formation or Chimera Sandstone) (Partridge, 1996; Mehin and Bock, 1998; DPIE, 1998). An unconformity of Turonian to Santonian age (duration of 5 million years (m.y.)) separates the two sub-groups (Fig. 2) (Partridge, 1996; DPIE, 1998).

The Kipper Shale of the Emperor sub-group was deposited in lakes (Partridge, 1996). This lake complex is described as deep and persistent through time (perhaps as long as 3 m.y.) with lake surface areas estimated at 5,000 km2 (Partridge, 1996). Thick sections of lacustrine shale have been drilled (Moore and others, 1992). In the Manta and Basker fields area, the lower Latrobe Group is described as alluvial sandstones with interspersed volcanic flows of andesitic to basaltic composition (Clark and Thomas, 1988).

More than 600 m of Golden Beach Group is preserved in the Central Depression offshore area, as well as in parts of the adjacent onshore Seaspray Depression (Fig. 3) (Partridge, 1996; Mehin and Bock, 1998). Normal faulting along the Rosedale and Darriman faults truncated and then confined deposition of the group to the rapidly subsiding depression between the Northern and Southern Strzelecki Terraces (Mehin and Bock, 1998). Development of these terraces coincides with opening of the Tasman Sea beginning at 80 Ma (Rahmanian and others, 1990). The first marine influences in the Gippsland Basin occurred in middle Santonian time during deposition of the Golden Beach sub-group (Partridge, 1996) and the transgressions are interpreted by some to have come from the southwest (Megallaa, 1993). The Campanian rocks are described as sandstones and overbank shales that were deposited across a coastal plain by a meandering river system with north to south flow (Clark and Thomas, 1988).

An unconformity developed on top of the sediments of the Golden Beach sub-group approximately 80 Ma, with subsequent latest Campanian volcanics resting unconformably on this surface (DPIE, 1998; Partridge, 1996). The Golden Beach and Strzelecki were tilted to the east-southeast and eroded (Mehin and Bock, 1998). This Campanian tectonism and associated volcanism accounts for major displacements on intra-Golden Beach sub-group faults, and for the extrusion of the surface basalt flow that serves as a seal for gas and oil traps in Golden Beach sandstones at Kipper Field (Fig. 5) (DPIE, 1998; Sloan and others, 1992).

Latrobe Group
Late Cretaceous (Campanian) tectonism, which ended deposition of the Golden Beach Group, resulted in (1) the separation of Gippsland Basin from the Bass Basin by the Bassian Rise, and (2) the emergence of the Southern Platform (Duff and others 1991; Megallaa, 1993) (Fig. 3). Paleogeographic maps portray the basin during latest Cretaceous Latrobe deposition as a gulf facing the opening Tasman Sea to the east with two structurally controlled lows traversing the Gippsland Rise (Fig. 3) (Fielding, 1992; Megallaa, 1993). The Gippsland Rise is shown as sometimes emergent with circulation from the sea through the structural lows (Megallaa, 1993). By the end of the Cretaceous, the offshore Gippsland Basin began to subside as a marginal sag (DPIE, 1998). Compression became the dominant tectonic style from Eocene to Miocene time during the passive margin stage related to the continuing opening of the Tasman Sea (Megallaa, 1993).

The Latrobe Group consists of sandstones, siltstones, mudstones, shales, coals, and volcanics that were deposited in alluvial, shoreline and shallow to shelf marine settings and deep-water low-stand cut-and-fill channels; the thickness of the sequence totals more than 4,500 m within the Central and Seaspray depressions (McPhee, 1976; Featherstone and others, 1991). The Cretaceous to Paleocene portion of the Latrobe Group is interpreted to have been sand-rich coastal plain and barrier sediments deposited in an aggradational setting (Fielding, 1992). Multiple transgressions and regressions of coastal plain and barrier settings are recorded in the Late Paleocene to Eocene portion of the group (Fielding, 1992). Paleoshorelines trended generally southwest to northeast and were located, for the most part, between Mackerel and Blackback fields (Fig. 5) (Rahmanian and others, 1990; Fielding, 1992; Megallaa, 1993; Moore and others, 1992; Gross, 1993). These paleogeographic reconstructions show a wide zone of migrating shoreline environments backed by an extensive coastal plain surrounded by alluvial and fluvial settings within the confines of the faulted basin during deposition of the lower Latrobe section (Douglas, 1976; Fielding, 1992). Clastic sediments were sourced from the Australian continent to the north and the Bassian Rise and Southern Platform to the southwest and south of the basin as well as from the west along the basin axis. Westward marine transgressions and eastward regressions of the Tasman Sea alternated with periods of continental clastic sedimentation (Douglas, 1976; Fielding, 1992), but no major deltaic sequences have been described. These sediments progressively onlapped the terraces to the north and south and onlapped to the west during Late Cretaceous through Oligocene time. Onshore in the northwest area, the Strzelecki Group is overlain by a series of Latrobe Group formations: an Eocene or Paleocene sandstone, Thorpdale Volcanics consisting of Eocene basaltic lavas, Oligocene to Miocene age nonmarine clastics, and Latrobe Valley Coal Measures (Mehin and Bock, 1998). In the onshore Seaspray Depression, Latrobe Group rocks are described as Upper Cretaceous to Oligocene non-marine sandstones, siltstones, mudstones, coals and shales (Mehin and Bock, 1998). The Maastrichtian-Paleocene upper Latrobe Group rocks in the offshore area are described as having been deposited in coastal plain, shoreline, and nearshore settings featuring a series of thick barrier bar facies (Clark and Thomas, 1988). Eocene paleogeographic reconstructions show as much as a 40 km wide coastal barrier fronted by wide shallow marine environments and backed by a coastal plain that was no longer confined by the faulted basin (Fielding, 1992).

Tectonic uplift of the northeastern basin in Eocene time along with sea level lowstands, caused deep submarine channeling into strata of the Latrobe Group and into anticlines involving these rocks (Douglas, 1976; DPIE, 1998). Three of these erosional unconformities occur at the Blackback field anticline (Gross, 1993). Major channeling events include a Maastrichtian event, the early Eocene Tuna/Flounder channel that was filled by the Flounder Formation and the Eocene Marlin Channel filled by the Turrum Formation (Fig. 2) (Douglas, 1976; Moore and others, 1992). The current Bass Channel, or Bass Canyon, occupies the southern structural passage across the Gippsland Rise and erodes into the Latrobe Group. The Gurnard Formation, where present, is generally placed at the top of the Latrobe Group and consists of offshore (Eocene) to onshore (Oligocene) glauconitic sandy siltstone (DPIE, 1998). Further onshore in the Latrobe Valley, deposition of the Latrobe Valley Coal Measures continued through the Pleistocene (Mehin and Bock, 1998; McPhee, 1976; DPIE, 1998).

Another tectonic event formed an extensive erosion surface on top of the Latrobe Group 50 Ma (Duff and others, 1991). The overlying Seaspray Group consists of shales and marls that are the regional seal for the majority of fields in the Gippsland Basin (Fig. 2). Unconformities and at least two mid-Miocene channel cut-and-fill events are present within the Seaspray Group. Compression during Seaspray time is represented by gentle unfaulted anticlines in contrast to older faulted anticlines (Duff and others, 1991).

HISTORY OF PETROLEUM EXPLORATION
Oil and gas were discovered onshore at Lake Bunga No. 1 in 1924 (Fig. 5) (Ozimic and others, 1987). This discovery, near Lakes Entrance, started exploration interest in the Gippsland Basin. Cumulative production to 1956 of 10,000 barrels of biodegraded, heavy crude oil from an Oligocene sandstone in the onshore Lakes Entrance Field was overshadowed by later activity in the offshore areas. In December of 1964 the drill ship Glomar III began exploration in offshore Gippsland Basin drilling Esso Gippsland Shelf No. 1, in what is now known as Barracouta Field (Fig. 5). Gas production from Barracouta began in early 1969 from Late Eocene Latrobe Group clastic reservoirs in a faulted anticline. Oil was also discovered and later produced from the same field (Ozimic and others, 1987).

Neue Welle von Übernahmen

Damit unterscheidet sich die neue Welle der Übernahmen von denjenigen, die seit Jahren von einer breiten Öffentlichkeit eher unbemerkt vonstatten gehen: Sie spielten und spielen vor allem im Energiebereich und im Nahen Osten. So verkaufen die Chinesen Automobile in arabischen Ländern, ,steigen die chinesischen Staatskonzerne mit Milliarden Dollar in Ölfelder in Australien oder Indonesien ein um den heimischen Energieverbrauch zu sichern.

Doch auch hier zeichnet sich eine Entwicklung ab: Gerade erst kaufte Huaneng Power Group, der größte unabhängige Elektrizitätshersteller, zwei australische Kraftwerke, um Geld zu verdienen, nicht für die Absicherung der inner-chinesischen Versorgung.

Die weltweite Ölnachfrage steigt immer weiter an. Vor allem weil der Energieverbrauch von Schwellenländern rasant wächst. Um den wachsenden Öldurst zu stillen, muss die Ölförderung immer mehr gesteigert werden. Das heißt: Die Produktion in schon erschlossenen Ölfeldern muss erhöht und immer mehr neue Lagerstätten müssen gefunden, erkundet und in Produktion genommen werden. Weil die Preise am Welt-Ölmarkt gegenüber den 90er Jahren stark gestiegen sind, kündigen Ölkonzerne und Ölförderländer an, wieder mehr Geld in die Exploration, also die Entdeckung und Erschließung neuer Ölfelder zu investieren. 45 Milliarden Dollar will zum Beispiel Shell dafür ausgeben.

Allerdings verhält es sich mit der Gesamtheit der weltweiten Ölvorräte nicht anders, als bei dem einzelnen Ölfeld im Wattenmeer: Irgendwann ist der Punkt erreicht, an dem die Hälfte aller Ölvorkommen entleert ist. "Depletion Midpoint" nennen das die Öl- und Gasexperten. Peter Gerling:

Das ist der Punkt, von dem wir glauben, dass die jährliche Ölproduktion nicht mehr gesteigert werden kann. Und danach, spätestens nach diesem Punkt laufen Nachfrage und Angebot deutlich auseinander. Das heißt, dass wir zu dem Zeitpunkt ein Problem kriegen, wonach nicht jeder Bedarf mehr gedeckt werden kann.

Für den Ölmarkt heißt das: Die Preise explodieren. Und für eine vom Öl abhängige Weltwirtschaft bedeutet das: Sie gerät in starke Turbulenzen. Doch wann ist dieser "Depletion Midpoint", die fünfzigprozentige Entleerung der Ölvorräte erreicht? Darüber wird bisher nur in kleinen Expertenkreisen diskutiert.

Diesen Punkt sehen wir, nach den Zahlen, die uns vorliegen, im Jahr 2017. Das kann plus minus fünf Jahre daneben liegen. Weil sich inzwischen die Technologien verändern und damit die Reservenzahl verändert. Auf der anderen Seite ist gar nicht einzuschätzen, wie sich die Nachfrage in Indien und China entwickeln wird

Perforierung des Gehäuses bei 2.104 - 2.107 Meter fanden spät gestern nachmittag statt.

Dieser Morgen, auf dem ersten Aufwischen laufen gelassen einem hellgrünen hohen API-Schwerkraftöl wurde zurückgewonnen. Die API ist nicht noch gemessen gewesen und das Aufwischen fährt fort.

Dieses ist das erstes Öl zurückgewonnene onshore Gippsland. Die volle Bedeutung dieser Wiederaufnahme nicht bekannt für einige Tage.

NORDCSeaspray 3 - Re-entry

Seeöl ("LKO") rät dem bei 8,00 morgens, heute, das der Brunnen Gesamttiefe von 1.439 Metern erreicht hatte. Nach für ungefähr 90 Meter horizontal bohren, gehaftet wurde das Bohrgerät und die beträchtliche Zeit wurde die Versammlung von der Anordnung freigebend verbracht.

Es wurde dann entschieden, um in folgende Sandzu bohren in hohem Grade gut abgewichen wurde gebohrt ungefähr 100 Metern, ohne Gas surface zurückzugewinnen und eine Entscheidung ist getroffen worden, um das wohle während weitere Analyse der Gesamtresultate zu verschieben.

Eine überlaufende Abgabe von 5% des Hauptquellewertes jeder möglicher Kohlenwasserstoffproduktion ist zum Romerdöl N.L. ein ehemaligen Halter des ErlaubniscPep 157 zahlbar.

MELBOURNE, Impuls Dez 15 Asien - ein onshore Ölschlag im Bassin Gippsland Victorias sollte Interesse an der Region erhöhen und Forscher anregen zu bohren tiefer, um einen gesagten Analytiker zu maximieren Reserven, Dienstag.

Melbourne-gegründete Öl- und Gasfirma, die Seen Ltd. (ASX:LKO) verkündeten Dienstag die Entdeckung des Öls von onshore gut, die erste onshore Entdeckung bildeten in der Region ölen.

Seen ölen besagte gute Qualität, hohes Schwerkraftöl wurden erholt von seinem Wombat 3 gut im Regionsüdosten Gippsland von Melbourne, an einer Tiefe von 2.107 Metern.

"dieses ist das erstes Öl zurückgewonnene onshore Gippsland," Seeölvorsitzender Robert gesagtes Annells.

Jedoch sagte er, daß die volle Bedeutung der Wiederaufnahme nicht für einige Tage bekannt.

Ein Energieanalytiker sagte, daß die Entdeckung lebendig das Interesse am onshore und vom Land entfernten Bassin Gippsland halten sollte, das gefunkter letzter Monat war, als die Regierung Victorian Erforschungrechte drei internationalen Firmen bewilligte.

Forscher würden angeregt, tieferes zu graben, wenn es die Wahrscheinlichkeit der verlängernden Ölvorkommen gab, er sagten.

Herr Annells sagte das Anschlagen der onshore aufgeworfenen Fragen des Öls von, gerade wie tief die vom Land entfernten Vorratsbehälter verlängern können.

, um ähnliche Niveaus ablandig zu schlagen, müssen fügen Ölfirmen andere 1.000 Meter wegen eintauchen in die Felsenanordnungen unten bohren, in denen Öl und Gas gehalten wird und mindestens A$5 Million (USS3.78 Million) der Bohrung hinzu, kostet pro Brunnen.

Tageshändler haben ein Auge auf Interessen Gippsland des Seeöls nach Betrachtung über den Brunnen Wombat gehalten, die den Vorrat hochfliegend zu 7,2 Cents pro Anteil im August geschickt werden.

Die Antwort zur Ansage war niedriger Schlüssel mit dem Vorrat, der hinunter 0,2 Cents bei 4,4 Cents schließt.

Seeöl hat weg den Hauptteil seiner vom Land entfernten Interessen Gippsland, sich auf die onshore Aussichten zu konzentrieren gesponnen.

Die vom Land entfernten Stangen stehen Teil einer neuen Firma, vom Land entferntem Erdöl Gippsland (GOP).

Fresh oil reserves found in Bass Strait
There may be undiscovered oil reserves in Bass Strait, deeper than those found by Esso BHP.

Exploration firm Lakes Oil has found oil onshore at Seaspray on the Ninety Mile Beach, two kilometres below the surface.

Company chairman Rob Annells says the oil has been found in the Strzelecki formation, much deeper than offshore oil reserves.

He says further tests this week should determine the volumes of oil in the newly found reserves.

"It`s possible that there`s oil below wherever everybody`s been looking in the past so there`s not only good new for us but it`s good news for the explorers offshore as well," he said.

PRÜFENDES WOMBAT 3

Seeöl ("LKO") rät, daß Personal und Ausrüstung auf dem Aufstellungsort zum Anfangen den, Brunnen Wombat 3 aufzuwischen sind. Dieses wird erwartet, um morgen anzufangen, Donnerstag Januar 13..

Da unsere letzte Ansage wir eine Analyse des Öls empfangen haben, das mittlerer Dezember in Wombat 3 zurückgewonnen wurde. Es ist ein wächsernes Rohprodukt 39,58 API.

Das Aufwischen zu dieser Zeit wurde angehalten, da die Ausrüstung, die wir auf Aufstellungsort gehabt haben, nicht verwendbar war, obgleich ungefähr ein Faß Öl surface geholt wurde.

Vor dem Abfallen auf 65.000 Kubikfuß ein Tag wegen der festen Anordnung und "der Hohlraumbildung" des Vorratsbehälter Wombat 3 war ursprünglich gebohrtes September/October 2004 und erfolgreich geflossenes Gas nahe der Oberseite der Anordnung Strezleki mit einer geschätzten Rate von zwischen 3 und 4 Million Kubikfuß ein Tag. Dieses lag an der Anordnung über dem Gassand, der zurück in die Bohrung fällt. Wir halten dieses für eine ausgezeichnete Aussicht für Bruchanregung, die ein in einem späteren Stadium adressiert wird. Während des Momentes sind wir besorgt, zu sehen, wenn Öl vom untereren Niveau fließt.

Wenn wir in unseren Bemühungen erfolgreich sind, hat dieses ein bedeutendes Lager auf unseren zukünftigen Richtungen.

PEP 157 - ONSHORE GIPPSLAND BASIN, VICTORIA
ECHIDNA HIGH NO.1 WELL

Lakes Oil ("LKO") advises that at 6:00 AM this morning the Echidna High well was drilling ahead at a depth of 1005 metres within the Latrobe Formation having progressed 142 metres in the past twenty-four hours. The Strzelecki Formation was expected at approximately 1000 metres. We would now expect to reach this formation later today at which point casing will be set.

WOMBAT NO. 2 WELL

Wombat 2 well continues to flow gas to surface. The well will be flowed for a week before being shut in for two weeks to establish the build up pressures.


The Echidna High well and the Wombat 2 well is located in PEP 157. An overriding royalty of 5% of the wellhead value of any hydrocarbon production is payable to Roma Petroleum N.L. a former permit holder.

März 07, 2005 PEP 157 - ONSHORE GIPPSLAND BASSIN, VICTORIA ECHIDNA HOHES NO.1 QUELLEN HERVOR See-Öl (" LKO" ) rät dem bei 6:00 morgens heute morgen, das der Echidna High-1 gut voran an einer Tiefe von 1280 Metern weiterkommend 275 Meter seit dem letzten Report bohrte. Der Abschnitt, der bis jetzt geschnitten wird, ist beeinflußt worden, indem man bemängelte und infolgedessen ist die Oberseite des Strzelecki Horizontes tiefer als vorweggenommen. WOMBAT NR. 2 BRUNNEN Wombat 2 Brunnen fährt fort, Gas zur Oberfläche zu fließen. Der Brunnen wird innen der neuere heutige Tag geschlossen, zum zu erlauben, daß der Aufbaudruck überwacht wird. Der hohe 1 Brunnen des Echidna und der Wombat 2 Brunnen ist in PEP 157. Eine überlaufende Abgabe von 5% des Hauptquellewertes jeder möglicher Kohlenwasserstoffproduktion ist zum Rom Erdöl N.L. ein ehemaligen Erlaubnishalter zahlbar. Lakes Oil ("LKO") advises that at 6:00 AM this morning the Echidna High-1 well was at a depth of 1604 metres.

Following the recording of gas in the drilling mud on Friday it was decided to run casing to 1600 metres. This was carried out over the weekend. Blow out preventers have been fitted and tested and following the arrival of additional drill string which is expected to arrive later today drilling will re-commence.

The Echidna High 1 well is located in PEP 157. An overriding royalty of 5% of the wellhead value of any hydrocarbon production is payable to Roma Petroleum N.L. a former permit holder.

Gas fließt z.Z. mit einer Rate von ungefähr 790.000 Kubikfuß pro Tag durch eine Drosselklappe 20/64î. Der Brunnen ist für zwei Tage geöffnet gewesen. Die gegenwärtigen Prüfung Anrufe, damit zunehmende Drosselklappe Größen multi mehr über das deliverability dieser Vorratsbehältermaßeinheit innerhalb unserer Maßeinheit Stratigraphie erlernen. Wir nehmen vorweg, daß die Rate an ungefähr 650.000 Kubikfuß pro Tag in Übereinstimmung mit unseren zwei vorausgegangenen Tests stabilisiert. Diese wichtigen Vorratsbehälterdaten werden in unserer gegenwärtigen Vormöglichkeit Studie enthalten, die in den USA von Landmark Consulting und Dienstleistungen durchgeführt wird. SHAREHOLDER UPDATE

Lakes Oil ("LKO") is engaged in it`s most active exploration program ever and I would like to update shareholders of developments in:

our current hydraulic fracturing program in the Wombat and Trifon Tight gas fields
the proposed ongoing drilling program
two new wells which are planned for the fourth quarter of 2005; Boundary Creek 2 in PEP 157 Onshore Gippsland Basin and the "Eagle II" well in the USA.
It is our intention to raise additional funds with a 1 for 10 new issue of shares at a price of 2.2 cents per share. This was the price at which the Directors recently made a share placement and believe it would be appropriate for our shareholders to be offered additional shares at the same price. A prospectus will be sent to you shortly.


HYDRAULIC FRACTURING - WOMBAT AND TRIFON FIELDS
(Results to date)

WOMBAT 1 WELL - PEP 157

This was our discovery well and as such was engineered conventionally. Unfortunately this has restricted us from fully evaluating the many potential zones of gas that are present.

We have learned a considerable amount from this well including how to produce gas from the "tight" Strzelecki reservoir, present over a large area of our lease.

A number of potential gas producing zones occur below the zone currently being produced, however as the well was not engineered as a "Tight Gas" well, it is not planned to test them, mainly due to cost. Rather we will drill a second well designed to fully evaluate all of the potential zones at a later stage.

The top producing zone has been subjected to a number of different treatments as we have learned to stimulate the tight reservoir and is currently flowing gas to surface. We have cemented off most of the water which appeared to be coming from lower in this producing zone, producing gas to surface at a measured rate of 30,000 cubic feet a day. This is disappointing in view of the estimated rates obtained when the well was first reopened, of four to five million cubic feet per day. However, the nature of tight gas is that it does not replace itself quickly in the reservoir. For now, this well is suspended.


WOMBAT 2 WELL - PEP 157

To date this has been our most successful well. As with Wombat 1 this well was engineered conventionally, causing a great deal of inflexibility in testing the multiple potential gas producing zones present.

The well has been hydraulically fractured between 1,474 - 1,491 metres, an eight day test has been carried out through a separator resulting in a sustainable gas flow of 630,000 cubic feet per day. The well is now suspended as a future producing well.

There are higher zones which are also potential producers but they will not be tested at this time. As with Wombat 1 we intend to examine them in the future, with a new well to be engineered allowing more flexibility in testing.


WOMBAT 3 WELL - PEP 157

Wombat 3 currently has two zones open - one at 2,106 metres and the other at 1,417 metres. Both zones have been fractured and the well is still cleaning up, with fracture fluid and gas coming to surface. Currently the flow rate is small. We are hopeful that as the well cleans up the flow rate will improve.

At this time we cannot be sure the lower zone is contributing to the flow. It is possible we may have dumped proppant sand into and above the valve set between the two producing sands. A pressure test will be carried out over the coming days to establish if both zones are contributing to the flow. This is not a serious problem and can be rectified cheaply.

Further assessment is being made of the oil recovered from the lower zone and its implications for the whole permit.


TRIFON 2 WELL - PEP 157

The Trifon 2 well has been hydraulically fractured between 1,830 and 1,860 metres and also at 1,590 metres. The formation between 1,830 and 1,860 metres proved to be tight. However, the fracture at 1,590 metres is still open and cleaning up but the flow rate to date has been disappointing.

Our strategy with Trifon 2 had been to fracture the well from the bottom up, we have now fractured five zones in this well. The best result to date has been from the lowest zone, which has indicated to us that the existing natural fractures are contributing to this "play".

Since each of these hydraulic fractures cost $250,000 to perform, we have been reluctant to carry-out too many at one time. There are still several higher zones to be potentially fractured in this well, including one which the electric logs have indicated is the most promising.


NORTH SEASPRAY 3 WELL - PEP 157

The North Seaspray well is located in the Trifon field and was the well in which we tried the unsuccessful horizontal extension some 10 months ago. As the Halliburton fracturing equipment was in the area last week we decided to hydraulically fracture the top zone, in an effort to obtain some production from the well. The location only 20 metres from the pipeline easement could mean even a small flow may be commercial, should we later commercialise the Trifon field. It is too early to evaluate the success of this fracture as it was only carried out late last week and is still cleaning up. A small amount of gas is coming to the surface.



ONGOING DRILLING PROGRAM

BELLARINE 1 WELL - PEP 163

This well is scheduled to commence drilling mid July and is located approximately 20 kilometres South of the city of Geelong, Victoria. It is designed to be drilled up-dip of "Hindhaugh Creek - 1" a well drilled in 1969 and which flowed gas to surface. Jupiter Energy Limited has farmed into this permit and will carry Lakes Oil for the first $1.2 m of costs of the well to earn a 50% interest in the permit.


PATROBUS 1 AND BANJO 1 WELLS - PEP 155

Delays in obtaining a suitable drilling rig have continued to set back this drilling program. Lakes holds a 46 percent interest in these wells with Gippsland Offshore Petroleum (ASX code "GOP") to pay the first $200,000 of expenditure of each well.

We are hopeful that the situation will be resolved shortly and allow us to commence drilling these two wells.


GILBERT 1 WELL - OFFSHORE BASS STRAIT VIC/P47

Based on the current drilling schedule of the "Ocean Patriot" rig the long-awaited Gilbert 1 well is expected to commence in September/October. Lakes Oil will hold a 26% free carry through the drilling of the well to casing point.


LATROBE VALLEY - PEP 166

Discussions are continuing with a large power company to drill at the Hazelwood Power Station and have now led us to focus on the Loy Yang Dome which is a larger target located beneath the Loy Yang A & B Power Station. At this time, a drilling date is not available.


PRE-PRODUCTION FEASIBILITY STUDY

All data generated to date from our drilling and hydraulic fracturing program in the Trifon and Wombat wells has been forwarded to Landmark Consulting and Services in the USA for incorporation in a pre-production feasibility study currently being undertaken.

BOUNDARY CREEK - 2 WELL
PEP 157 ONSHORE GIPPSLAND BASIN

Lakes Oil is continuing its strategy of exploring for tight gas resources in the Strzelecki Group in the onshore Gippsland Basin. This has led us to:


The Baragwanath Anticline - A Sleeping Giant

Two wells (Bellbird-1 and Longford South-1) were drilled in 1963 and 1964, along the north eastern portion of the Baragwanath Anticline which extends eastwards into PEP 157. Both these wells intersected Strzelecki Group sediments, but the primary target was considered to be the overlying Latrobe Group. At the time, the results indicated that the Strzelecki Group at these locations has little or no reservoir or source potential.

However, using new technologies developed in the USA, it would appear that if these wells had been drilled now, they would be considered candidates for tight gas development in the Strzelecki Group.


Proposed Exploration well - Boundary Creek 2

In 2001 the drilling of the Boundary Creek - 1A stratigraphic core hole with a small mineral rig encountered continuous gas shows throughout the intersected Strzelecki Group. However, the well only drilled to 366 metres.

Lakes Oil is proposing to drill a deep well on the Longford Dome, which forms a closure on the north-eastern part of the very large Baragwanath Anticline (see figure). This is a major structural feature with surface expression extending some 60 kilometres in a north easterly direction south of the Latrobe River.

The proposed Boundary Creek - 2 well is planned to drill to a substantial depth within the Strzelecki section to test for tight gas sandstones. Results from this well will open a gateway to further understanding the potential of the new tight gas prospects in the onshore Gippsland Basin and the further development of Lakes` Tight Gas Strategy.


EAGLE PROSPECT - SAN JOAQUIN BASIN, CALIFORNIA USA

Lakes Oil first became involved in this prospect in the late 1980`s when a consortium of small Australian oil explorers joined to complete the drilling of a well "Mary Bellocchi - 1" which had been commenced by a USA company Royal Resources. The well found oil in the Gatchell sands at approximately 13,570 feet - 13,636 feet and initially flowed oil at rates as high as 223 barrels per day before abrupt appearance of water complicated the situation. However the well was considered uneconomical to produce as oil and gas prices at that time were $15 to $17 a barrel (oil) and $1.50 to $1.75/MCF for gas.

In May 2001 the consortium re-entered the original well bore and a deviated horizontal bore hole to a measured depth of 14,205 feet was drilled.

After penetrating the horizontal target zone, the drill became stuck and the hole was lost before the Gatchell Sands previously encountered could be tested.

The consortium conducted a seismic program in 2004. The results of this survey have encouraged the Operator Victoria Petroleum N.L. to call for the drilling of a new well, Eagle II.

Lakes Oil will hold a 15% interest in the well. With current oil prices well in excess of US$50 a barrel and USA gas prices at US$5/MCF, "Eagle" will be a highly attractive target.

Lakes Oil is aware that there have been a number of new issues and placements over the last couple of years; however, we have maintained an active and successful program on your behalf but which requires a considerable amount of cash funds.


We remain confident that our Tight Gas Projects will prove commercial, with the Bellarine, Boundary Creek, Gilbert and Eagle wells providing additional opportunities to reward Shareholders.

Patrobus 1 Stratigraphic Core Hole
PEP 155 Eastern Block, Onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

Lakes Oil N.L. (ASX code " LKO" ) as operator advises that whilst drilling the " top hole" a conglomerate in an old river bed was encountered causing a delay. A cable tool rig was brought in to drill through the conglomerate and temporary surface casing has now been run. It is expected that drilling with the coring rig will re-commence on Wednesday.

Gilbert - 1 Well
VIC/P47 Offshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

The joint venture has been advised the " Ocean Patriot" semi-submersible rig should be available to move on site within the next two weeks to commence the drilling of the Gilbert - 1 well. Lakes Oil has a 26% free carry through the drilling of this well to casing point. We expect drilling to take approximately seven to ten days. Our targets in this well are the Gurnard and Latrobe Formations expected to be reached at approximately 600 metres.

Boundary Creek - 2 Well
PEP 157 Onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

An environmental study has been completed and work on the drilling pad is expected to commence early this week. It is anticipated that drilling will commence on approximately 3 October 2005. This well is a follow up well to our Boundary Creek - 1 core hole drilled August 2001 which encountered strong gas shows, but was only drilled to 366 metres. Examination of the well logs from two wells drilled near Longford on the Baragwanath Anticline suggest the possibility that tight gas may be present in those wells. However as they were drilled in the early 1960`s there was little interest in tight gas at a time when gas prices were low and there was no infrastructure.

The Baragwanath Anticline, a huge Anticline in excess of 70 kilometres in length, has been ignored because the productive offshore Latrobe Formation comes to the surface and is breached. The experience Lakes Oil gained from drilling the Wombat and Trifon wells has lead us to believe the possibility of commercial gas existing below that formation in the Strzelecki Formation. This will be a most interesting well with considerable ramifications if we are correct.

Wombat - 1 and 3 wells
PEP 157 Onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

During the past week the Wombat 1 and 3 wells were opened. The amount of gas coming to surface appears to have increased. It has been decided to again connect both these wells to a separator to separate out any liquids and establish an accurate measurement of the gas flow.

During the flow back of the Wombat - 3 well slugs of oil where observed on the surface. This is consistent with the oil which flowed into the well when it was originally opened. We still do not fully understand this occurrence, however we may have a better understanding after the well has been flowed through the separator.

Eagle Prospect
Onshore California, U.S.A.

Lakes Oil has been advised by the operator that a rig has been obtained and drilling of the Eagle II well is expected to commence the first week in November 2005.

ACTIVITY UPDATE

Lakes Oil (ASX code "LKO") is currently involved in a most active exploration phase. We are engaged in a number of exciting projects:

Drilling Gilbert - 1A offshore in VIC/P47 Gippsland Basin in Bass Strait
Lakes Oil is earning a free carried 26% interest.


Drilling Boundary Creek - 1 tight gas well onshore in PEP 157 Gippsland Basin, Victoria in what could be a pivotal well in our ongoing evaluation of Victoria`s "tight gas"


Drilling Patrobus-1 stratigraphic core hole onshore in PEP 155 Gippsland Basin, Victoria to test the theory that hydrocarbons may be migrating from offshore.


Commence production testing of the Wombat 1 and 3 wells in PEP 157 onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria to measure sustainable gas flows in each well.


Preparing for the drilling of the Eagle well onshore California, U.S.A.

1. Gilbert - 1 well
VIC/P47 Offshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

The Gilbert - 1A well being drilled in VIC/P47 is at a depth of 308 metres. Current operations are running 13 3/8"inch casing. Upon successful running of the casing and installation of blow out preventers the well will progress to its programmed depth of 910 metres to evaluate the Gurnard, Latrobe and Strzelecki Formations.


2. Boundary Creek - 2 well
PEP 157 Onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

The Hunt rig has arrived on site, currently rigging up is taking place. Drilling is expected to commence on Friday 7 October 2005.

This well has been designed to evaluate the Strzelecki Formation encountered in the Boundary Creek - 1 core hole which was drilled in August 2001 and encountered gas shows. Information gained from the recent drilling at the Wombat and Trifon fields has led Lakes Oil to believe that there is a strong possibility of the presence of gas in this very large surface anticline, mapped in excess of 70 kilometres in length.


3. Patrobus 1 stratigraphic core hole
PEP 155 Eastern Block, Onshore Gippsland, Victoria

Lakes Oil as the operator advises that the Patrobus-1 well being drilled at Marlo in PEP 155 has drilled to a depth of 252 metres and coring of the Greensand is currently taking place.

Coring will continue to basement and will assess the potential for migration of oil or gas onshore. The site of this well has been selected as a result of Lakes Oil flying the area with BHP`s revolutionary airborne gravity-gradiometer and magnetic survey "Falcon®". This work has established the presence of a half graben coming onshore which has the potential to allow hydrocarbons to migrate as they have at Lakes Entrance.


4. Wombat - 1 and 3 wells
PEP 157 Onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

Testing equipment is on site and extensive production tests will now be carried out on the Wombat 1 and 3 wells to measure sustainable gas flows to enable evaluation for commerciality.

These test are expected to take two to three weeks to complete.


5. Trifon - 2 and North Seaspray - 3
PEP 157 Onshore Gippsland Basin, Victoria

During the next few weeks Lakes Oil`s personnel will be in this area and it is intended to open both the Trifon -2 and North Seaspray - 3 wells to enable a full "clean up" to take place. Both wells still contain fracing fluid. Due to the tight schedule of the fracing contractors it was necessary to shut the wells in soon after fracturing took place, not allowing full flow back of the fracing fluids. We believe that improved results are achievable from both these wells.


6. Eagle Prospect
Onshore California, U.S.A.

This well is now scheduled to commence drilling during the second week in November. Lakes had been advised by the operator that a rig contract has been let.

GILBERT-1A DRILLING STATUS REPORT
VIC/P47 OFFSHORE GIPPSLAND BASIN VICTORIA

Lakes Oil (ASX code "LKO") has been advised by the operator that the Gilbert-1A formation evaluation is complete.

Analysis of drill cuttings, wireline logs and sidewall cores confirms fluorescence and hydrocarbon shows in the Gurnard Formation indicating that hydrocarbons have moved into the Gilbert area. Further analysis of sidewall cores will be undertaken. However, pressure measurements and formation fluid samples recovered from the well indicate that the target formations are water-bearing. It has been concluded that Gilbert-1A has not encountered commercial hydrocarbons.

Whilst the non-commerciality of the Gilbert Prospect at this stage is disappointing for the Gilbert Joint Venture, the objective of proving hydrocarbon migration and accumulation towards the margin has been proven for the Gilbert Block. The joint venture looks forward to focussing their exploration program - which includes shooting new seismic in the block in 2006 - at identifying traps along this hydrocarbon migration pathway.

Furthermore, strong fluorescence shows were encountered over the Gurnard Formation interval 624 to 636 metres and elevated gas readings were encountered in several zones through the Gurnard, Latrobe and Strzlecki Formations. Interpretation of the formation at this stage is concluding that the live oils are housed within "tight" sections of the upper Gurnard sandstone reservoir. This is very encouraging for exploration elsewhere in the Gilbert Block.

At 6:00 AM today the Boundary Creek-2 well was at a depth of 1,644 metres having progressed 46 metres over the past twenty-four hours.

During the next twenty-four hours it is planned to continue drilling ahead towards anticipated total depth of 2,500 metres.

ESSO AUSTRALIA RESOURCES, BHP Billiton, Woodside Energy and Santos have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the Kipper gas field in Bass Strait, off the south coast of Victoria, Australia. Project participants have agreed on key terms and conditions for processing gas from the Kipper field through Esso and BHP Billiton`s infrastructure and processing facilities in Gippsland. First gas is anticipated in 2009.

A seismic survey in 1999 and an appraisal well drilled in 2002 confirmed some 620bcf of recoverable gas and 30 million barrels of condensate and LPGs.

Kipper is located in 100m of water, 45km from Ninety Mile Beach on the Gippsland coast.

The ownership structure of the Kipper project will be Esso 32.5%, BHP Billiton 32.5%, Woodside 21% and Santos 14%

Lakes Oil NL has pioneered the use of "state of the art" technology in the use of the Falcon® Airborne Gravity Gradiometer System. In addition to the gravity information, magnetics, radiometrics and elevation data have also been recorded. The Falcon® system gravity data, which uses classified U.S. Navy technology, is of high resolution and sensitivity.

Interpretation of data from several Falcon® Surveys acquired in the offshore, nearshore and onshore sectors of the basin in East Gippsland have defined a structural framework in which oil spilt from offshore fields would be focussed towards the Marlo area.

The exploration philosophy of the Company is to systematically explore along this defined hydrocarbon migration pathway. It is expected that two relatively shallow scout holes will be immediately drilled in the Marlo area to test if oil has reached the basin margin. The drilling of the offshore Gilbert Prospect in Vic/P47 will follow up these holes.

Neue Loy Yang-2 Quelle entdeckt
, neben dem Kraftwerk hat Lakes Oil in einer tiefe von 375- 850 m Gas entdeckt, dass nach der Förderung direkt an das Kraftwerk verkauft werden könnte.
Die Bohrungen sollen März April beginnen, die komplette Finanzierung ist bereit durch ausgaben von Aktien gesichert


Ich glaube dieses Jahr ist ein Erfolgsjahr für uns
