SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Advanced Micro Devices started selling a faster personal-computer chip today as the world`s second-biggest microprocessor maker rolls out a new production process and steps up competition with Intel.
The Athlon XP 2200+ runs at 1.8 gigahertz and uses thinner, 0.13-micron wires that are more than 1,000 times more slender than a human hair.
Hynix sale to be postponed until year`s end, official says
SEOUL, South Korea — Sale of Hynix Semiconductor won`t occur before the end of this year, a ruling-party official said.
Park Byoung-yoon of the Millennium Democratic Party said the government, creditors and Hynix union agreed the chip maker`s survival should take priority over sale to foreigners.
Many politicians have turned wary of pushing through the controversial sale in the face of local elections Thursday and a presidential poll in December.
Hynix creditors have been seeking ways to sell the chip maker after a creditor-approved deal to sell assets to Micron Technology fell apart.
Finance Minister Jeon Yun-churl said Micron still was interested; a key creditor denied this.

AMD präsentiert neuen Athlon XP-Prozessor
10.06.2002 09:00:00
