Boeing CEO loses chairman title as company separates roles after 737 Max crisis
11.10.https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/11/boeing-ceo-loses-chairman-ti…
Key Points
• Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg lost his chairman title on Friday.
• The change will allow him to focus on handling the fallout from two 737 Max crashes, the company said.
• Boeing is facing numerous investigations over the plane’s design and certification.
...
Muilenburg is scheduled to testify before a House transportation panel on Oct. 30, his first appearance before Congress since the crashes.
Boeing has developed a software fix for the planes but hasn’t handed it over to regulators yet. Officials have said they have no set timeline for the planes’ approval.
...
This week, American Airlines and United Airlines removed the planes from their schedules until January, joining Southwest, Boeing’s top 737 Max customer in the U.S.

Boeing Stock Tumbles Because the FAA Just Dropped a BombshellOct. 18, 2019 at 2:25 p.m. ET

Boeing delayed disclosing internal communications about its troubled 737 MAX jet to the Federal Aviation Administration, and now Boeing stock is falling.
“Late yesterday, Boeing alerted the Department of Transportation to the existence of instant messages between two Boeing employees, characterizing certain communications with the FAA during the original certification of the 737 MAX in 2016,” according to an FAA statement emailed to Barron’s Friday. “Boeing explained to the Department that it had discovered this document some months ago.”
The FAA is “concerned” by what the messages contained and says it plans to share additional details later Friday.

Boeing's stock rises, as profit falls well below expectations but revenue beats

Shares of Boeing Co. rose 1.2% in premarket trading Wednesday, after the aerospace and defense giant reported third-quarter profit that fell well below expectations while revenue beat, as lower 737 deliveries were partially offset by higher defense and services volume.
Net income fell to $1.17 billion, or $2.05 a share, from $2.36 billion, or $4.07 a share, in the year-earlier period. Excluding non-recurring items, adjusted earnings per share declined to $1.45 from $3.58, missing the FactSet consensus of $2.07.
Revenue fell 21% to $19.98 billion, but topped the FactSet consensus of $19.61 billion.
Commercial airplane deliveries fell 67% to 62, below the FactSet consensus of 65, while the segment's revenue declined 41% to $8.25 billion to beat expectations of $7.78 billion.
Defense, space and security revenue grew 2% to $7.04 billion to beat expectations of $6.76 billion.
The company said it assumes regulatory approval of the 737 Max's return to service will begin in the fourth quarter, and that it will gradually increase the 737 production rate to 57 per month from 42 per month by late 2020...
