For those of you who only do your research on Marketwatch and message boards, this refers to the 10-K, 10-Q, SC-13, SC-13G, and 8-k. Now I know that if you are truly an idiot, you will not bother, so here is the link which will get you one step closer:

The 8-K filed on 1-5-11 is one of my favorites! If you bother to actually read it, Google the company names listed in the filing so you get a better understanding of their business ;-)

Once you take this first step, you will move up a stage to the enlightened idiot. Google ANALYZE STATEMENT OF CASH FLOW and follow the directions. Also Google CALCULATE FREE CASH FLOW and follow the directions. Now, you will move up another stage to investor. At this point, you will be able to determine if the company has enough money to stay in business. You will also be able to figure out what they are actually making since they have not collected on a significant amount of receivables and receivables don't equal cash for operations. If you want to move to the final stage of informed investor, you will probably want to follow the company filings for a number of months or years and even talk to company representatives to get clarity on specific questions. I know most of you will not do any of this because it is much easier to buy stock and hope, or trade based on little squiggly lines at the bottom of your chart. Some of you may even fire off a lot of criticism and insults due to my message, but deep down, you will really know that you are just an idiot.
