Galoc Operations on Track
Nido Petroleum Limited (Nido) is pleased to provide the following update on the Galoc operations.
As reported in the Operator’s last Galoc update, which Nido released to the market 29th August, some hydraulic fittings in the subsea equipment had been subjected to accelerated corrosion and needed to be replaced prior to first oil, which was expected mid September.
Nido has today been advised by the Operator, Galoc Production Company WLL (GPC) that these hydraulic fittings have been successfully replaced and the subsea equipment is presently being lowered back into position where it will be hooked back up to the system.
Subject to suitable weather conditions, the Operator maintains that first oil is still expected in mid September.

Ich verstehe "... is raising $11.02 million to fund the oil drilling off Argao, Cebu side ..." als eine frühere Mitteilung an das Department of Energy, dass Otto in dieser Größenordnung Geld für das Projekt aufbringt.
Das hat m. E. nichts mit der aktuellen Finanzsituation von Otto zu tun und daraus kann m. M. auch nicht abgeleitet werden, dass Otto dafür eine KE vornehmen will, zumal in der letzten, vor einigen Tagen gemachten Aussage von A. Parks eindeutig erklärt wurde, dass dieses Jahr keine KE vorgenommen werden soll, sofern das Galoc-Projekt in den nächsten Monaten in Produktion gehen wird.
Die Gelder für die kommenden Explorations- und Bohrarbeiten bei SC 51 sind vorhanden.
Die Reparaturarbeiten beim Galoc-Project (riser system) sollen gut voran kommen. Wenn nicht irgendein blöder Sturm daher geflattert kommt, geht Galoc noch diesen Monat in Produktion ...

Ich mag die Formulierung gar nicht.
"It ist going to fund with..." wäre hier viel besser.

Australian oil exploration company NorAsian Energy Ltd. has commenced new surveys at the Bohol-Cebu Strait.
The new round of surveys is being conducted in a total of approximately four square kilometers at the narrow strait between Bohol and Cebu to identify three possible well sites in near the Cabilao and Argao prospects.
Otto Energy Ltd., the mother company of NorAsian, has earlier announced that it will be drilling two or three exploration wells by the first quarter of 2009 after it finished gathering 2D and 3D data during its seismic survey in June last year.
The ongoing survey however was disrupted after some 300 fishermen held fluvial protests on Monday that barricaded the ships of NorAsian.
The protest action was led by fisherfolks belonging to the Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) to drive off the survey ships away from the exploration site.
In an email sent to the Chronicle, Pamalakaya national chair Fernando Hicap said many fisherfolks in the coastal towns of Bohol and Cebu were not even informed about the survey.
"The fishermen's payaos (fish traps) were dismantled by NorAsian operatives," Hicap said.
According to the website of Otto Energy, drilling of oil deposits in Service Contract (SC) 51 situated in the Cebu-Bohol Strait will officially start this year.
The presence of "commercially and economically viable petroleum resources" between Cebu and Bohol was confirmed by the Department of Energy (DoE) and Otto Energy.
In an advisory given to the DoE, Otto Energy reported that it is raising $11.02 million to fund the oil drilling off Argao, Cebu side and near Cabilao Island in Loon, Bohol side.
The DoE has likewise approved the exploration work programs of Otto Energy giving the Australian firm until March 2009 to drill the first wells at the strait.
Deposits in the Argao and Cabilao area are confirmed to contain up to 270 million barrels (MMbbls) of recoverable oil in conventional sandstone reservoirs, Otto Energy's report stated.
The survey conducted by NorAsian is also aimed to identify potential drilling hazards such as cables, and evaluate the sea bed topography and subsurface for shallow gas drilling hazards.
NorAsian expects to finish the survey by mid-September with good weather conditions in the area.
Moreover, the oil exploration firm assured to conduct marine mammal observations during the site surveys.
"These studies will enable NorAsian to incorporate site specific environmental data into the project planning to enhance environmental safeguards that will be incorporated into the overall project design," an advisory posted in Otto Energy's website states.

From now until 2030, the world's energy demand is expected to increase at an average of 1.3% every year, and meeting the rising demand will require that all commercially viable energy sources are pursued, Mark Albers, Senior Vice President of ExxonMobil said at the 2008 CEO Energy/Power Conference hosted by Lehman Brothers.
The main drivers of growing demand will be power generation and transportation at 1.5% and 1.7%, respectively, he said. Oil and natural gas will continue to supply the majority of the world's energy needs.

Letzten Montag hat es eine von der “National Federation of Small Fisherfolk Organizations“ einberufene Versammlung auf der Insel Cebu gegeben. Es sollen ca. 250-300 Menschen (Fischer und Dorfbewohner) daran teilgenommen haben und ihre Sorgen in Bezug auf die Störung des Fischfangs durch die seismischen Aktivitäten durch NorAsia zum Ausdruck gebracht haben.
Während NorAsia sagt, dass sie die behördliche Genehmigung für die seismischen Messungen haben, behauptet der lokale Bürgermeister, dass er davon keine Kenntnis hat. Evtl. gibt es hier auch ein Problem, dass der behördliche Dienstweg nicht so richtig funktioniert.
