Initial Research Report für die USA - Anleger liegt vor.

      Key Investment Considerations:
We are initiating research coverage of Australian-American Mining (MMNZF.PK - OTC) without an investment rating. AusAm shows significant promise in light of a potential global rise in the demand for uranium. However, the company must complete drilling, feasibility studies and mine infrastructure construction, all of which are contingent on securing substantial financing.
Investor interest should rise as revenue visibility offers potential valuation metrics and the company’s stock begins to trade more actively in the US.
A threatened scarcity of fossil fuels, energy security concerns, and increasing global pressure for reduced emissions are driving growth in the demand for nuclear energy. More than 470 nuclear reactors will be constructed worldwide during the next 20 years, significantly boosting the demand for uranium.
The gap between uranium production and reactor consumption has been filled by drawdowns on military stockpiles. As those stockpiles are depleted uranium production will have to increase significantly. Due to looming shortages, the price of uranium (currently US$42 per pound) is twice as high as it was a few years earlier, increasing incentives to mine uranium.
The company should complete validation drilling at its Rio Puerco, Apex and Lone Star deposits by 2011, setting the stage for production by 2013. All three properties have well developed infrastructure and show indications of resources that could underlie substantive revenue potential in the years ahead.

Das hört sich alles sehr gut an.

Es sind zu viele Ankündigungen erfolgt, ohne dass ein entsprechendes Ergebnis zu sehen war.

      Forge listing boosts AusAmerican
      24-September-10 by Blake Wilshaw

Perth-based AusAmerican Mining received a boost from the listing of Forge Resources on the Australian Securities Exchange yesterday.

The successful ASX float completes the sales agreement between Forge and AusAmerican of New South Wales base metal assets.

Earlier this year, AusAmerican agreed to sell the projects to Forge in consideration of 3 million Forge shares. These shares are escrowed until 23 September 2012.

Forge listed yesterday, with an impressive closing price 17 cents higher than the 20 cent listing.

      See company statement below"

The Directors of Australian-American Mining Corporation N.L. ("AusAmerican" or "the company") wish to inform the market that as a result of the successful listing of Forge Resources Limited ("Forge") yesterday on the Australian Securities Exchange ("ASX"), the last condition precedent of the sales agreement between AusAmerican and Forge was met and as a result Forge informed the ASX that the sale has been completed.

Earlier this year, AusAmerican agreed to sell the company's former New South Wales base metal projects to Forge in consideration of 3 million Forge shares. These shares are escrowed until 23 September 2012.

Forge listed yesterday making a spectacular debut with the 20 cents shares closing at 37 cents, making it one of the most successful IPOs of the year.

The Directors of AusAmerican would like to wish Forge all the very best for the future and congratulate them on their successful listing.

AusAmerican finalizes convertible note funding to advance US uranium projects
      Sunday, 19 Sep 2010
      EmailButton
      Pdf_button

Australian-American Mining Corporation NL announced that it has entered into an agreement for provision of a convertible loan facility from New York based investment fund Spring Tree Special Opportunity Fund, LP. The facility will provide a maximum of USD 3,650,000 of funding to the company over 18 months. An initial tranche of USD 250,000 has been received by the company.

As previously advised, the company is embarking on a serious expansion process based on 2 pronged strategy of:
      1. Aggressive drilling at its three brown field’s uranium projects in Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. Drilling there is expected to increase the current JORC resource significantly as well as provide samples for metallurgical test work and to test the viability for heap leach and ISR recovery methods and recoveries. The company has commenced drilling at Apex and this financing should enable the company to continue through the New Year at Lowboy, Rio Puerco and Lone Star and

      2. Increase our current leasehold land position in Texas. As previously announced, the company has pursued the leasing of land in Texas that have hosted known historic resources of uranium and were drilled out but not mined in the 1960’s and 1970’s. These projects are all amenable to ISR recoveries. The company has already put together a large land package of leasehold properties but would like to finalise this acquisition phase in the next few months and this funding will enable this to happen.

Mr Phillip Valliere senior VP of the fund’s General Partner of SpringTree Global Investors LLC said that “We have been impressed by management’s unique strategy to target brown field uranium resources and we look forward to supporting the company as it executes its growth plan.”

Mr Jim Malone executive chairman of AusAmerican said that “We are delighted to welcome Springtree as an investor in the company and thank them for their support of goals and objectives. This funding agreement allows the company to complete a fairly aggressive expansion and development process over the next 6 to 12 months whilst also potentially allowing less dilution than alternative methods of financing. We are also delighted as this represents our first major agreement with a North American-based institution and we are hopeful of increasing interest in the company in this region, the world’s largest investment market. We look forward to expanding the company substantially with this committed funding.”

AusAmerican in potentially large Rare Earth/Specialist Metal discovery in Arizona, USA.
      HIGHLIGHTS
      • Samples assayed show elevated values of Lithium, Niobium, Cesium and Tantalum specialist metals in pegmatite mineralisation as well as cerium and lanthanum rare earth elements.
      • AusAmerican has staked seven lode claims comprising over 140 acres and applied for an additional 539 acres on area of interest .
      • Potential for grade and size is significant. Extent of the outcropping of pegmatites is over 2.5 kilometres long and half a kilometre wide.
Australian-American Mining Corporation N.L. (ASX: AIW; OTC: MNOMY; FWB: M2H) (“AusAmerican” or “the company") is pleased to provided an update on activities on the sampling at one of the Company's assets in the US state of Arizona. The Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Uranium Company of Arizona (“UCA”), has staked seven contiguous lode claims, comprising 140 acres, within the area of interest shown on Figure 1. An application for an exploration permit has been submitted to the State of Arizona for an additional 539 acres.
The company has recently launched a preliminary evaluation of the Lithium-enriched Pegmatites of the White Picacho area in Maricopa and Yavapai Counties, Arizona.
This involved spending several days collecting and examining pegmatite samples from central Arizona. These pegmatites have been known for several decades and in the 1950s several were mined for feldspar. One or two were also mined for lithium minerals or tantalum. These samples were sent to a local laboratory for assaying. The assays for the main metals/elements occurrences are shown below.

The Mercenary Geologist's REE Review: What Does the Press Release Really Mean? An Analyst’s View

In a previous missives posted on August 21 and August 23, I discussed the difficulty the lay investor often has with understanding what drill results actually mean and subsequently examined a particular example illustrating how savvy promoters can spin mediocre results. In this mini-musing I comment on a recent news release from an Australian junior explorer apparently new to the rare metals scene. It is my opinion that the release is misleading to the lay investor.

An excerpt from the news release entitled: “Australian American Mining discovers large rare earth metals in US” was posted recently on Rare Metal blog.

That blurb garnered my attention so I searched for Australian American Mining (AIW.ASX) and pulled up the press release. Here’s what I found:

AusAmerican in potentially large Rare Earth/Specialist Metal discovery in Arizona, USA.

      HIGHLIGHTS

      - Samples assayed show elevated values of Lithium, Niobium, Cesium and Tantalum specialist metals in pegmatite mineralisation as well as cerium and lanthanum rare earth elements

      - AusAmerican has staked seven lode claims comprising over 140 acres and applied for an additional 539 acres on area of interest.

      - Potential for grade and size is significant. Extent of the outcropping of pegmatites is over 2.5 kilometres long and half a kilometre wide.

Okay, well and good: Promotional but no big red flags for me except the hosts are complex pegmatites, which are usually small and seldom have the size and grade to make mineable ore bodies, especially in the southwestern United States.

But then it goes to hell in a hand basket in a hurry:

The land position is small, comprising a little over one square mile of land consisting of seven claims, including its pending mineral lease application from the State of Arizona.

These are pegmatites in the White Picacho area of west-central Arizona that were mined for feldspar on a small scale in the 1950s and “one or two for lithium minerals or tantalum”.

At that time there were Cold War-era stockpile programs subsidized by the US government for lithium used as triggers for hydrogen bombs and for tantalum used in capacitors.

The company goes into some detail about the collecting and examining of samples and metals that are enriched in the pegmatites including tantalum up to 0.42%, lithium up to 2.11%, and cesium up to 457ppm. The “samples were sent to a local laboratory for assaying”.

It is curious that the lab is not named, we do not know if it is ISO-certified or even if it is reputable, and there are no details on what kind of samples were taken (e.g., grabs, rock chips, channel samples, etc). Sample weights of 1.1 to 3.1 kg would suggest they are either high grade grabs or select rock chips and likely are not representative samples.

Also I note that nowhere in the one page discussion is there any mention of the niobium, cerium, or lanthanum listed in the HIGHLIGHTS section above.

The company then discusses the “potential for small to medium tonnage open-pittable ores”. It intends “to commence an exploration programme on this project as soon as possible with a view to drill testing the project in the near future”.

      Sounds good, no?

Except this is not “a potentially large… discovery” as written in the press release headline. These are actually ‘small to medium” bodies that “may contain more than 100,000 tons of material”. 100,000 tons is miniscule. To put it into context, Quest Rare Minerals (QRM.V) investigated mining that much material in 25 days in its recent scoping study.

For some reason this project is not listed on the company website. We find that Aus American Mining Corporation NL is not really a mining company; it is a uranium explorer with three flagship projects in Nevada, Texas, and New Mexico. In its most recent corporate presentation, AIW’s timeline shows these three projects are scheduled to be drilled in the second half of 2010 and feasibility and permitting carried out on two of them.

The company has over160 million shares currently outstanding with an 18 month $3.6 million debenture issued in tranches and converted to shares monthly over the period of the loan. It is currently trading at 7-8 cents Australian.

My conclusion is that Aus American’s focus is clearly on its US uranium assets. This press release appears to be simply a sidebar to capture a random slice of the REE stock market frenzy.

But wait; remember in the HIGHLIGHTS section of the press release where the company mentioned “elevated values of … specialist metals as well as rare earth elements cerium and lanthanum”?

In the assay tables that conclude the press release, there are no values listed for any of the 16 rare earth elements including cerium and lanthanum!

Folks, remember what I wrote in RareMetal blog on July 21: “… five of six companies in REE space are merely mining the stock market. In a speculative commodity or area play, it is always wise to separate the very few contenders from the too-numerous-to-mention pretenders as soon as feasible.”

I will let you decide into which category this company falls. As Otto sez: DYODD dudes and dudettes!
