TotalEnergies to start gas production at Argentina's Fenix field in 2024
Sept 13 (Reuters) - France's TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA) will start drilling at the Fenix field off the southern Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego in March 2024, and expects to start production the following November, Vice President Catherine Remy said.

The $700 million project will produce some 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, representing 8% of the country's total production, Remy said at Argentina's Oil & Gas exhibition.

Stellantis plans to expand battery capacity to 400 GWh
MILAN, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Carmaker Stellantis (STLAM.MI) aims to expand its battery building capacity to 400 GWh to support growing production of electric vehicles, its head of global propulsion systems said on Friday.

The group was also working to secure key long term supplies of materials and chemicals that are necessary to feed this capacity expansion, said Micky Bly, Stellantis Senior Vice President, Head of Global Propulsion Systems.

"We have already announced about 250 gigawatt hours of capacity around the world. We believe we need to go to 400 gigawatt hours of capacity around the world," Bly said during the inaugurating the group's new Battery Technology Center in Turin, Italy.

      ...

The world's third largest carmaker by sales earlier this year opened its first European gigafactory, in France, to be followed by ones in Germany and in Italy, all through the ACC joint venture Stellantis has with Mercedes (MBGn.DE) and TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA).

Three more facilities are planned in the U.S and Canada.

As part of its effort to boost capacity, Stellantis on Friday said it had invested 40 million euros ($43 million) in its Turin's Battery Technology Center, in the Mirafiori complex, which will be focused on in-house testing and development of EV battery packs for upcoming group vehicles.

First US Gulf offshore wind auction to fuel region's green hydrogen push
Zitat von Oginvest: Aug 28 (Reuters) - The U.S. Gulf Coast region, the nation's primary offshore source of oil and gas, has cheap electricity and lacks state mandates for renewable energy procurement, making it an unlikely place to expand one of the most expensive forms of clean energy.

That is why players in the nascent U.S. offshore wind industry are looking beyond the grid when the Biden administration holds the first-ever offshore wind auction in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, eyeing the sale instead as a way to fuel a new green hydrogen supply chain for the region's vast industrial corridor.

Hydrogen is a low-emissions fuel made by electrolyzing water that can help decarbonize heavy-emitting industries and transportation. It is considered "green" if produced with renewable energy and "gray" if the process is fueled with carbon-emitting natural gas.

The Gulf Coast auction would be a break from previous federal offshore wind lease sales, held mainly in the Northeast, where developers have spent billions of dollars on acreage for projects meant to link into lucrative power markets and access state-level subsidies for carbon-free electricity.

"When we get to the Gulf, (offshore wind) will start becoming much more disconnected from the grid," said Cheryl Stahl, principal project manager at risk assessment firm DNV. "The Gulf gets to be sort of a breeding ground for innovative solutions."

The Interior Department's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will auction three areas off Louisiana and Texas to offshore wind developers on Aug. 29, the first such sale in the region already teeming with oil and gas pipeline and port infrastructure.

The sale is part of the administration's goal to slash power sector emissions and combat climate change.

A BOEM spokesperson, John Filostrat, said the Gulf "is uniquely positioned to transition to a renewable energy future, including the development and implementation of the production and use of green hydrogen."

Companies qualified to bid at Tuesday’s sale include units of companies already established in the U.S. offshore wind industry like Shell (SHEL.L), Invenergy and TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA).

China LNG buyers expand trading after adding more US, Qatari contracts
Raised US, Qatar term contracts by half since late 2022
Contracted Qatari, US volumes to total 42 mln mtpy by 2026
Companies seeking more from US, Qatar, other suppliers
Chinese majors already trading actively; utilities to join
Chinese companies to act as seasonal sellers into Europe, Asia

SINGAPORE/LONDON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - China's liquefied natural (LNG) gas importers are starting up or expanding trading desks in London and Singapore to better manage their growing and diversified supply portfolios in an increasingly volatile global market.

The beefed-up trading presence of Chinese importers puts them in direct competition with such global heavyweights as Shell (SHEL.L), BP (BP.L), Equinor (EQNR.OL) and TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA) for a market that the International Energy Agency says doubled in value to $450 billion last year.
