Coastal Energy wird wärmstes von Insidern empfohlen.
In Thailand tätig wächst hier wohl ein Riese heran.

Empfehlung der Sharewise No. 1 User hoplessly:

Das macht also rund 10.000 bopd pro Tag.

      http://www.coastalenergy.com/investors/quarterly-reports.htm…

In the junior oil sector, it is hard to find growth stories. Maybe the company has success with one or two good wells, and then it is years before production grows again due to financing, regulatory or geological hiccups.

However, Coastal Energy (CENJF.PK) has had a terrific, almost entirely hiccup-free, run. Adding to its attractiveness as an international play, its oil is priced based on the Brent Crude benchmark, which continues to outperform WTI.

Coastal Energy had a great 2011 as growth from offshore oil assets in the Gulf of Thailand entered production, however, it does not appear the growth story in 2012 is done yet as the company moves from vertical to horizontal wells. Coastal also has onshore natural gas production that is benchmarked to Brent Crude, resulting in a significant premium compared to other natural gas markets.

Market Cap - a little over $2 billion
Trades - Pink sheets in the USA, CEN on the TSX

For the third quarter (ending Sept 30, 2011), total production averaged 12,028 boe/d (10,191 bbl/d offshore and 1,837 boe/d onshore). However, on the last day of the third quarter offshore production was approximately 15,500 bbl/d and onshore production was approximately 2,000 boe/d, giving a grand total of 17,500 boe/d.

Since then, growth has continued. At their Bua Ban North field, A-06 (initial 1000 bopd), A-07, A-08, A-09, A-10 (horizontal, initial 3000 bopd), A-11, B-09, B-10 and B-12 all appear to have hit oil. Coastal has had a very high success rate, with only a handful of wells failing to hit commercial reserves in the last few years. I've entered the initial production results of the wells where they have been provided, presumably those that have been provided are amongst the best wells. In their last press release, they stated that they will be drilling two more horizontal wells and that the remaining offshore wells would be in production by mid-February. While they have to make up for any previous decline in their older wells, it appears they should easily increase production. Even with conservative 400 bopd for the wells lacking data, that would make initial production 6,100 bopd from these wells. The upside to that number is large, there could be other wells closer to 1,000 bopd. The next two horizontal wells may have far more success, the results from the A-10 horizontal well show the greater potential for production versus standard vertical wells.

Onshore, work on a side track well, in which they have a 36.1% interest, has begun drilling. Again, given benchmarked price for natural gas in Thailand, this provides significant upside for Coastal.

Longer term, Coastal has significant other holdings that it has not yet drilled, but plans appear on the table for 2012.

Exiting 2013, they could exceed 30,000 boepd with all of these upsides playing out. Even with only a few successes, they will still see a healthy rise in production in 2012.

The risks should be apparent to any investor. There is no guarantee that they will continue to find more oil, eventually they must hit the limits of this current deposit. There is no guarantee that Thailand will remain friendly to foreign investors. I think the latter has had a significant effect in limiting the stock price. Thailand has been politically turbulent the last few years, although it has remained largely peaceful

Coastal Energy announces offshore operations update and onshore discovery
      Thursday, February 23, 2012

Coastal Energy has drilled two additional producing wells and one water injection well at Bua Ban North. The sidetrack of the Dong Mun 3 well, located on Block L27/43 onshore Thailand, reached a total depth of 2,539 meters TVDSS. Coastal has entered into an agreement to acquire an additional 2.9% stake in APICO.
Coastal Energy Company (TSX: CEN, AIM: CEO) announces an update of its offshore operations and the successful discovery and production testing results from the sidetrack of the Dong Mun 3 onshore gas well and acquisition of increased working interest there.

      Offshore

Coastal Energy has drilled two additional producing wells and one water injection well at Bua Ban North. One of the producing wells was drilled horizontally, has been tied in and is currently producing. The Company has two more wells to bring online at Bua Ban North. Current offshore production is averaging 26,000 bopd, bringing total company production to 28,000 boepd. The rig is now being mobilized to Bua Ban South and is expected to spud the first well there by the end of February.

      Onshore

The sidetrack of the Dong Mun 3 well, located on Block L27/43 onshore Thailand, reached a total depth of 2,539 meters TVDSS. The well encountered a vertical gas column of approximately 113 meters with porosity of up to 6 percent. The well was flow tested for 24 hours and produced at an average rate of 15 mmcfd with flowing pressure of 1,950 psi through a 32/64" choke. Further testing, appraisal and commercialization options for the Dong Mun are being reviewed by the partners. APICO is a joint venture and the operator of the L27/43 concession. Coastal currently owns 36.1% of APICO, making it the largest stakeholder in the joint venture.

Coastal has entered into an agreement to acquire an additional 2.9% stake in APICO, which is currently held by a minority partner, for US$9.25 million in cash, bringing Coastal's interest in APICO to 39%. This transaction is expected to close on or about February 23, 2012. APICO also holds a 35% interest in the nearby Sinphuhorm Gas Field, thus increasing Coastal's net interest in the field to 13.65%.

Randy Bartley, President and CEO of Coastal Energy, commented:

"Our offshore operations continue to progress as planned. The recent wells at Bua Ban North showed results consistent with our prognoses. Most importantly, the horizontal well at Bua Ban North B is performing similarly to the horizontal well which was drilled at Bua Ban North A in 2011. This further confirms our thesis that horizontal wells will be a significant tool in the development of this field.

"The test results of the Dong Mun 3 sidetrack are extremely encouraging. Testing is ongoing to determine the maximum deliverability of the well and evaluate additional stimulation, which could lead to a significant increase in flow rates. The location of this sidetrack was determined using recently acquired 3D seismic. The drilling results combined with the new 3D seismic strongly indicate that this gas structure has an areal extent of over 5,000 acres, giving this resource tremendous potential. Now that the commercial viability of the field has been determined, we have begun the process of applying for a production license.

"We are also pleased with our acquisition of a further stake in APICO. This transaction is accretive to our 1P and 2P NAVs using only Sinphuhorm valuations. The discovery being announced today makes it an even more exciting transaction for us."

      Particulars of the Transaction

Coastal acquired the additional 2.9% stake in APICO from Roil Production Thailand, LLC. APICO holds a 35% working interest in the Sinphuhorm natural gas field onshore Thailand, as well as 100% working interests in concessions L27/43 and L15/43 onshore Thailand. APICO had USD33.4MM of net income in 2010.

Coastal Energy Announces Successful Results of Bua Ban South A-01 Well

HOUSTON, March 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coastal Energy Company (the "Company" or "Coastal Energy") (TSX:CEN) (AIM:CEO), an independent exploration and production company with assets in Thailand, announces the successful results of the Bua Ban South A-01 well.

The Bua Ban South A-01 well was drilled to a total depth of 8,500 feet TVD. The well encountered 88 feet of net pay in the Lower Oligocene section. The new discovery demonstrated good reservoir characteristics with 12 percent porosity and recorded pressure data indicate that this is a new and separate accumulation from the Bua Ban Main field.

The successful results of Bua Ban South A-01 are being incorporated into the ongoing technical review, operational planning and guidance on the potential size of the discovery will be forthcoming once complete.

The Lower Miocene sands which were present in the Bua Ban Main A-11 well were not present in this particular fault block.

Randy Bartley, President and CEO of Coastal Energy, commented:

"The Bua Ban South A-01 well has discovered a new oil accumulation. This successful well has re-enthused us for the Lower Oligocene at the Bua Ban South area. We will also be testing two adjacent upthrown Miocene fault blocks with the next two wells."

Randy Bartley, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineering and Jerry Moon, Vice President, Technical & Business Development, a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a Certified Petroleum Geologist and a Licensed Professional Geoscientist in the state of Texas, have reviewed the contents of this announcement.

Coastal Energy Company: Coastal Energy Announces Exploration Results of Bua Ban South A-02 and A-03 Wells

HOUSTON, 2012-03-28 22:17 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coastal Energy Company (the "Company" or "Coastal Energy") (TSX:CEN) (AIM:CEO), an independent exploration and production company with assets in Thailand, announces the results of the Bua Ban South A-02 and A-03 wells.

The Bua Ban South A-02 well was drilled to a total depth of 8,275 feet TVD. The well encountered 8 feet of net pay in the Lower Oligocene section with 17 percent porosity, which is consistent with porosities at this depth in the Songkhla basin. The oil water contact was encountered at 8,120 feet TVD, indicating an oil column of 1,800 feet. The A-02 well was 700 meters from the A-01 well at the top of the Lower Oligocene. Pressure data indicate that this accumulation discovered by the Bua Ban South A-01 and A-02 wells is connected to the Bua Ban #1 & #3 wells, which were drilled by the Company in 2005. This accumulation is separate from the currently producing Bua Ban Main field. Analysis indicates that this reservoir is large enough to be commercial.

The Bua Ban South A-03 well was drilled on the western terrace of the main bounding fault of the Bua Ban field and encountered high quality Miocene sands with no hydrocarbon shows.

Randy Bartley, President and CEO of Coastal Energy, commented:

"The Bua Ban South A-02 well penetrated the same reservoir as the A-01 well close to its downdip limit. It has helped us to delineate the size of the Oligocene discovery at this location. We look forward to testing this reservoir in the near future.

"The lack of hydrocarbons in the Bua Ban South A-03 well is disappointing; however, it was a higher risk prospect given its location outside of the main bounding fault.

"We have spudded the Bua Ban South A-04 well . It is a Miocene objective in the eastern flank fault block. The A-04 well is being drilled 2,500 meters south of the original Bua Ban Main A-11 Miocene discovery in the continued attempt to delineate the southern boundary of that Miocene accumulation."

Coastal Energy reports successful Miocene discovery at Bua Ban South
      Published Apr 3, 2012

Coastal Energy Company reports the successful Miocene discovery in the Bua Ban South A-04 well.

The Bua Ban South A-04 well was drilled to a depth of 3,250 feet TVD on the eastern flank fault block at Bua Ban South, approximately 1.5 miles south of the Bua Ban Main A-11 well. The A-04 well encountered 42 feet of net pay in the Lower Miocene M75 and M100 sands with 29.5% average porosity. The M75 is a newly discovered pay sand in the Lower Miocene. Initial results indicate that this is an extension of the Miocene reservoir which was encountered in the Bua Ban Main A-11. The A-11 well has been producing since September 2010 and is currently producing over 500 bopd. The minimum areal extent of the closure is approximately 550 acres.

Randy Bartley, President & Chief Executive Officer, commented, "We are greatly encouraged by the successful Miocene results in the A-04 well. We have now discovered oil in three different Miocene intervals between Bua Ban Main and Bua Ban South. This new discovery is very positive for the Miocene remaining potential across the entire basin as well as supporting the potential of recent Oligocene discoveries in the Bua Ban South area."

Coastal Energy Announces First Quarter 2012 Financial Results

HOUSTON, May 14, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coastal Energy Company (the "Company" or "Coastal Energy") (TSX:CEN) (AIM:CEO), an independent exploration and production company with assets in Thailand, announces the financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2012. The functional and reporting currency of the Company is the United States dollar.

      First Quarter 2012 Highlights

The Company reported record levels of production, cash flow and earnings in the first quarter of 2012. Total Company production increased by 125% to 22,773 boe/d in the first quarter from 10,125 boe/d in the same period last year. The Company's offshore production was 21,031 bbl/d, with the increase due to the inclusion of production from both platforms at Bua Ban North. Onshore production of 1,742 boe/d increased from Q4 '11 levels as natural gas demand recovered following the flooding in Thailand in late 2011. Onshore production was below Q1 '11 due to the aftermath of the 2011 flooding as well as the power plant at Nam Phong being shut down for maintenance for approximately 5 days during the quarter.
EBITDAX for Q1 2012 was $128.4 million, 202% higher than the $42.5 million recorded in Q1 2011. Revenue and EBITDAX were driven higher by increased production and commodity prices. Crude oil inventory was approximately 569,258 barrels at March 31, 2012, the revenue from which will be recognized in the second quarter. The Company added 232,924 barrels (approximately 41%) during the current quarter.
The Company announced successful discoveries in the Miocene and Oligocene reservoirs at Bua Ban South. The discoveries have been appraised and determined to be commercial.
The Company acquired an additional 2.9% of Apico LLC, which holds its onshore oil & gas concessions. This brings its working interest in the Sinphuhorm field to 13.7%.

Randy Bartley, President and CEO of Coastal Energy, commented:

"The first quarter of 2012 built upon the Company's success in 2011. The Company recorded record levels of production, cash flow and profits. We also delivered another successful exploration discovery at Bua Ban South in both the Miocene and Lower Oligocene reservoirs. We plan to drill further appraisal wells to delineate the discovery once production facilities arrive on location in the third quarter.

"We purchased two production facilities in the first quarter, one at Songkhla A and one for Bua Ban South. We plan to continue using a portion of our free cash flow to acquire currently leased production facilities to reduce our operating costs. We are also evaluating bringing in an additional drilling rig to accelerate our exploration and development program.

"2012 is off to a great start. We all look forward to another successful year with Coastal."

Coastal Energy announces signing of small field risk service contract with PETRONAS
      Friday, July 06, 2012

Coastal will provide the upfront development capital, undertaking the development drilling and production of the KBM Cluster.

Coastal Energy Company (TSX: CEN) (AIM: CEO) has entered into a Small Field Risk Service Contract ("RSC") with Petroliam Nasional Berhad ("PETRONAS") for the development and production of petroleum from the Kapal, Banang and Meranti cluster of small fields (the "KBM Cluster") offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

Coastal (with 100% equity interest under the Small Field RSC) will be the operator of the KBM Cluster fields. In accordance with the Small Field RSC, Coastal is currently finalising an arrangement for a Malaysian company to participate in the Small Field RSC for 30-40% equity interest.

Coastal will provide the upfront development capital, undertaking the development drilling and production of the KBM Cluster. PETRONAS will remain the owner of the project. Subject to its performance, Coastal will recover its capital and operating expenditures and will be paid a remuneration fee, which will be adjusted by key performance indicators ("KPIs") based on the timely implementation of the agreed field development plan and budget.

      Planned Development

First oil from the Kapal field is scheduled within one year followed by production from the Banang field a year later. Coastal will develop the fields using Mobile Offshore Production Units (MOPUs) and Floating Storage and Offloading Tankers (FSOs) similar to the method used to develop its assets offshore Thailand. A total of seventeen wells will be drilled with ten planned at Kapal, four at Banang and three at Meranti.

      The KBM Cluster

The KBM Cluster fields are located within 20 kilometers of each other in a water depth of 60 meters. The main oil reservoirs are Miocene aged sandstones ranging in depths from 3800 feet to 7800 feet.

Randy Bartley, President & Chief Executive Officer, commented:

"We are proud to announce this new contract with PETRONAS. The KBM Cluster has similar characteristics to our existing fields offshore Thailand and we are confident that our experience and expertise in developing smaller fields quickly and efficiently will prove valuable. There is also appraisal and step-out drilling potential at the KBM Cluster which we plan to exploit during the development program. We expect that this project will generate a rate of return approaching that of our existing assets".

"This is a significant step for Coastal as we begin to utilize the cash flow from our existing production to diversify our portfolio. We are happy to have PETRONAS as a partner and are looking forward to working with them on this and potential future projects"

Coastal Energy Announces Second Quarter 2012 Financial Results & Operations Update

HOUSTON, Aug. 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coastal Energy Company (the "Company" or "Coastal Energy") (TSX:CEN) (AIM:CEO), an independent exploration and production company with assets in Thailand, announces the financial results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2012. The functional and reporting currency of the Company is the United States dollar.

      Second Quarter 2012 Highlights

      - Total Company production increased to 21,713 boe/d in the second quarter from 9,494 boe/d in the same period last year. The Company's offshore production was 19,351 bbl/d, with the increase due to the inclusion of production from both platforms at Bua Ban North. Full production from Bua Ban North came on throughout January and February. Offshore production volumes in the second quarter were impacted by downtime for the replacement of an FSO at Bua Ban North. Onshore production of 2,362 boe/d increased from Q112 levels and year ago levels as natural gas demand continued to recover following the flooding in Thailand in late 2011 and was 3% above Q211 levels.

      - EBITDAX for Q2 2012 was $130.3 million, 230% higher than the $39.5 million recorded in Q2 2011. Revenue and EBITDAX were driven higher by increased oil liftings and commodity prices. Crude oil inventory was approximately 456,418 barrels at June 30, 2012 the revenue from which will be recognized in the third quarter. The Company reduced closing inventory levels by 112,840 barrels (approximately 20%) during Q2.

      - The Company announced successful discoveries in the Miocene and Oligocene reservoirs at Bua Ban South. The discoveries have been appraised and determined to be commercial. The Company purchased production facilities for Bua Ban South and will continue appraisal drilling once they arrive on location later in the third quarter.

      - The Company announced a Normal Course Issuer Bid to repurchase up to 5% of its outstanding shares (5,715,972 shares). To date, the Company has repurchased approximately 1.25 million common shares on the open market.

      - The Company announced that it had been awarded a Small Field Risk Services Contract by PETRONAS for the development of the Kapal, Banang & Meranti cluster of small fields offshore Peninsular Malaysia. Coastal will operate the fields for PETRONAS and will provide upfront development and operational capital. Coastal will recover 100% of its invested capital and will earn a remuneration fee which will be adjusted based on the timely implementation of the agreed field development plan and budget.

      - Following quarter end, the Company released the results of an interim third party reserves evaluation by its reserve auditor, RPS Energy Ltd. Total company 2P reserves increased to 149.1 mmboe from 102.1 mmboe at December 31, 2011

      Operations Update

The Company drilled the Songkhla J-01 exploration well to a total depth of 8,600 feet TVD and encountered 168 feet of high quality sand in the Lower Oligocene reservoir with 19% porosity. Oil shows were observed throughout this section of the Lower Oligocene; however, MDT analysis indicates that this wellbore was near the oil water contact in this reservoir. Oil shows were also observed in the pre-tertiary limestone target, but porosity was below commercial levels.

The rig is being mobilized to Songkhla A for development and appraisal drilling.

Randy Bartley, President and CEO of Coastal Energy, commented:

"The first half of 2012 has been an exceptional six months for Coastal. On top of record levels of production and cash flow, the Company has continued to deliver increases in reserves both through new exploration discoveries and appraisal drilling as well as core analysis on existing assets.

"We have been reinvesting our free cash flow to purchase some of the production facilities we were previously leasing for our offshore operations. This will reduce our fixed operating costs across all fields. The Company also announced an exciting expansion of our operations into Malaysia. This contract with PETRONAS is a low risk way for Coastal to enter a new country and we are very excited for our first new venture outside of Thailand.

"The Songkhla J-01 exploration well has very interesting implications for the basin. This is the farthest north and east that we've seen oil migration in the Songkhla basin to date. The secondary Lower Oligocene target had oil shows and great reservoir characteristics which will require further appraisal drilling to evaluate. We believe there is significant potential in the Lower Oligocene in updip fault blocks to the north and east of the J-01 well; however, these prospects extend beyond the boundaries of our current 3D seismic data. We are going to wait to drill further appraisal wells until we finish the acquisition and processing of additional 3D seismic which is currently underway. While the pre-tertiary target was below commercial thresholds in this particular location, we do not feel that there is any read-through to other pre-tertiary prospects in the basin based upon these results.

"We are moving the rig to Songkhla A to continue development and appraisal drilling to add to our existing production growth. We are also currently bidding on a second rig to begin work in the November 2012 time frame, which would allow our development and exploration programs to continue simultaneously."

Coastal Energy announces successful appraisal well at Songkhla A
      Monday, September 10, 2012

The Songkhla A-10 well was drilled to a depth of 7,400 feet TVD and encountered 213 feet of net pay in the Lower Oligocene with 20% porosity.

Coastal Energy Company (TSX: CEN) (AIM: CEO) announces the successful results of the Songkhla A-10 well.

The Songkhla A-10 well was drilled to a depth of 7,400 feet TVD and encountered 213 feet of net pay in the Lower Oligocene with 20% porosity. The gross oil column in the well was approximately 550 feet thick. The A-10 well was drilled into the same fault block as the A-12ST#1, which is the easternmost fault block at Songkhla A. The A-12ST#1 originally tested at 3,500 bopd with 105 feet of net pay.

Randy Bartley, President & Chief Executive Officer, commented:

"The A-10 well result is outstanding. This well encountered a record amount of net pay for the Songkhla basin with some of the best reservoir characteristics we've seen in the Lower Oligocene interval. We estimate that this doubles the volumetric estimates for this particular fault block. Production will be tied in from this well shortly. The next well will test the fault block immediately to the north and, if successful, could warrant an additional production facility in this location to develop these two fault blocks."

Coastal Energy Announces Initial Flow Rate From Songkhla A-10 Well

HOUSTON, Sept. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coastal Energy Company (the "Company" or "Coastal") (TSX:CEN) (AIM:CEO) announces the initial flow rate from the Songkhla A-10 well.

The Songkhla A-10 well was completed using an electric submersible pump and is initially flowing approximately 4,000 bopd while still cleaning up. The next well, the A-13, has been spudded and will test the northeastern fault block at Songkhla A.

Randy Bartley, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented:

"We are pleased with the initial flow rate from the A-10 well. We expect some additional gains in production as the well continues to clean up. Current offshore production is 23,000 bopd with total company production at 25,500 boepd.

The A-13 well is an exploration well testing a step-out prospect across the fault line in the northeastern area of Songkhla A. If successful, it will add additional reserves and open up a new area for further appraisal and development."

      Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina eyes TSX-listed Coastal Energy
Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina has expressed an interest in buying TSX-listed Coastal Energy Co., according to documents received by the Financial Post.

Houston-based Coastal Energy is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with a market value of about $2.2-billion as of trading Tuesday at midday. The company began trading on the TSX last year, and was previously listed on London’s junior AIM market.

According to a letter sent to the Financial Post dated October 2012, Pertamina expressing an “ongoing interest in Coastal Energy” after making an initial expression of interest in September surrounding a joint venture with Calgary-based Talisman Inc. In the letter, Pertamina states it is interested in pursuing Coastal energy on its own and is prepared to pay a 15% premium to Coastal’s share price at or around US$23 per share or $2.6 billion.

The Indonesian firm said it is seeking Coastal Energy advisor Citigroup’s “co-operation to complete additional due diligence which will enable us to deliver a binding proposal, subject to the framework defined within this letter.”

Unlike other Canadian oil and gas companies targeted by foreign state-owned companies in recent months, Coastal does not have any Canadian-based operations — its assets are in Thailand and Malaysia — and any takeover bid is unlikely to come under close government scrutiny.

China-based CNOOC’s bid for full ownership of Calgary-based Nexen Inc. remains under review by the government, which blocked a takeover attempt by Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Berhad to purchase Progress Energy.
Pertamina’s interest followed a “data disclosure and series of presentations which culminated in an expression of interest during September,” according to the letter sent on an unspecified date in October and addressed to Citigroup.

Pertamina also stated that it “is highly motivated and incentivized to work on a time table to facilitate the completion of this transaction by the 31st of December 2012.”

The proposal has the full support of Pertamina management and board of directors, according to the letter.

Three calls to Coastal Energy’s Houston office seeking comment went unanswered Tuesday.

Coastal Energy recently upsized and amended its senior secured revolving credit facility to $200-million with BNP Paribas and Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the Standard Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, according to a company filing on Oct. 16.

In a recent release, Pertamina spoke of its plans for a sharp increase in oil and gas production by 2025 and to lift oil output this year through acquisitions of interests in Indonesia and elsewhere.

In June it announced an all-cash offer to acquire a 32% stake in Petrodelta SA of Venezuela from Harvest Energy Resources – a deal that, when completed next March, will net Harvest US$525-million.
