Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 60.782.917 von Weltbummler am 11.06.19 20:05:36the FDA did not ask for an Ad Com and was working with AMAG on the label wording so I take this as a good sign they are going to approve this without any delays on 6/23.

Looking at safety, the drug is rather awesome in that the number of serious adverse events is only in the single digits.
Overall, the efficacy and safety data combined pushes the drug beyond a 50% chance for approval. Keep in mind, however, the FDA is quite stringent about its efficacy standards, and rejection of such PDUFA late June is an investment risk no matter how good the probabilities are.

The original formulation for Bremelanotide (Vyleesi) was administered from a nasal spray but the dösige was less exact and they had a higher incidence of mild nausea so they went with the autoinjector approach. It also gave them a patent advantage over the spray but long term the nasal spray may be introduced with a better applicator. They also didn't want the FDA to object to it because of the possible "date rape" potential with a nasal spray. There are a couple of future developments that would be very profitable once the FDA approves this. One is that it will be labeled for use by premenopausal women only but there is no reason that it wouldn't work with postmenopausal women or even men as well. I think this was another conservative decision on Palatin's part to make it more acceptable to the FDA based on the clinical diagnosis of FHSDD. The concern I have is whether AMAG can scale production of the autoinjector version of Vyleesi if the demand exceeds their market estimates. They are a fairly small pharma and could hit a production limit. The price action today may be some risk reduction ahead of the PDUFA date but the FDA did not ask for an Ad Com and was working with AMAG on the label wording so I take this as a good sign they are going to approve this without any delays on 6/23. Here's hoping.
