Albemarle’s decision to abandoned its long-running talks with Liontown closed one avenue for the company to source debt funding to cover its shortfall in Kathleen Valley’s rising capital costs, and – along with the uncertainty around Mrs Rinehart’s intentions over the company – is also believed to have forced Liontown’s need to accelerate its plans to land the capital needed to lock down the mine’s construction funding.

After flagging a further 6 per cent blowout in the cost of building Kathleen Valley in late September, taking the cost of the underground lithium development to $951m,
Liontown needs to land a debt package of at least $450m to fully fund the mine’s development, including the $152m needed to cover working capital and corporate costs until the mine starts making money.

But the company is also believed to have put on UBS to run an equity raising in parallel with the closing of its debt negotiations – a decision likely to pose an immediate test of Hancock’s support for Liontown, as well as easing any concerns held by banks and other lenders about the rising construction costs and the impact of recent instability.

Term sheets are not expected to be floated to investors until details of the debt deal are locked down, analysts suggested on Monday Liontown could be looking to raise $100m to $250m to end any funding uncertainty.

LTR braucht jetzt Feld und ist erstmal halted, massive Cash Raise for funding for the Kathleen Valley Project.

Albemarle withdraws $4B offer for Liontown Resources
"Our engagement with the Liontown team has been meaningful and productive," Kent Masters, CEO of Albemarle, said in the statement. "We appreciate the level of cooperation we have received, and we thank the entire team for their efforts. That said, moving forward with the acquisition, at this time, is not in Albemarle's best interests."

Glückwunsch an Albermale für dieses disziplinierte Verhalten.

Australian billionaire Gina Rinehart accumulates 19.9% stake in Albemarle target Liontown
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian billionaire Gina Rinehart has taken a 19.9% stake in lithium miner Liontown Resources, her company Hancock Prospecting said on Wednesday, potentially hindering a takeover bid launched by U.S. mining giant Albemarle Corp.

Hancock has steadily built its stake since September, when Albemarle Corp lodged its bid for Liontown. The U.S. miner needs 75% support from Liontown investors who vote on the deal to succeed with its bid.

"Hancock now looks forward to having a prominent influence on Liontown's future as its largest shareholder," the statement said. Under Australian takeover rules, a single shareholder must declare its intention if its stake moves above 19.9%.

      ....

Albemarle's declared its bid 'best and final', which means the current offer cannot be raised and the bidder would have to walk away for some time before returning with a sweetened deal.

in diesem zusammenhang kann ICH folg. beitrag eines geschätzten HC- users ne menge
      abgewinnen........

The current reported aggregate at 162M maybe inaccurate as %tage short on day figure would suggest aggregate will have risen slightly from the 28 sept.
      My guess is about 174M
Tomorrows' figures on the aggregate will seal our fate I believe.
Fridays further raid from HP leads me to predict ALB is about to walk even though Due Diligence has been positive (extremely so)
Gina IMO has the numbers to block a takeover, but to be successful she needs us the "Doughnutters"
I wouldn't want to be a less than 50.1% holder with so much at stake. Our support will benefit both HP and the Doughnutters.
What successful business person wouldn't want to be involved with such a terrific bunch of enthusiasts. Together there's 50.1% and fantastic synergy.
Downstream processing is on the cards and maybe complete battery processing in a larger conglomerate is looming.
Lets go mining Chris Ellison a fellow Kiwi is watching so Lets add up; 1 Big Aussie plus 1 big Kiwi and dozens of Doughnutters equals fantastic teamwork.
We have the resource, we have the expertise, we have the funding, we have the right product/products at the right time.
Lithium truly is "the new oil" and WA truly is the "new Saudi Arabia". BOOM BOOM
