      Buildingtesla: Gigafactory 3 (China) Image Comparison --> auch Fremont, GF1, GF2, Lathrop-Aufnahmen etc.

      About Buildingtesla

      Buildingtesla originated out of curiousity how the construction of the gigafactory was progressing. I found that there was not an easy quick way to follow the building progress through time.

      As a amateur web developer i saw an opportunity to build an easy maintainble solution to this problem, develop my programming and webdesign skills and create a nice tool for the tesla community all in one.

      Please note that this is a Tesla FANPAGE and not in anyway linked to Tesla inc....

      frisches Geld für Tesla: Tesla readies second US dollar auto ABS deal
      10.12.2018
      https://www.nasdaq.com/article/tesla-readies-second-us-dolla…

      =>
      ...Tesla is looking to sell its second ever US dollar auto asset-backed bond deal, a US$837.39m trade that will be rated by Moody's, according to a lead bank.

      The electric carmaker plans to bundle up auto leases into a five-part bond deal that is expected to be announced later this week.

      The deal will mark only the second time that Tesla has looked to raise funding in the ABS market by selling bonds backed by consumer leases on its electric vehicles.

      The first such deal was a popular US$546m trade that priced in February. It attracted almost US$4bn of orders, and bankers were able to pull in pricing from initial levels.

      The new bonds have longer maturities, however, and Tesla expects to pay more for them.

      Its biggest US$673.68m block is a 1.49-year Triple A class that has been circulated at talk in the 90bp-100bp area over EDSF, according to two investors.

      Its Triple As from the February securitization were a 0.84-year slug of bonds that priced at 30bp over EDSF, according to IFR data.

      Tesla also has one junk bond outstanding, but that has struggled in secondary trading. The 5.3% 2025 high-yield issue was bid on Monday at a cash price of about 86.9, according to a broker dealer.

      The bonds priced at par in August 2017, according to IFR data.

      The new securitization comes at the end of a rocky year for Tesla in which the carmaker's top leadership has been called into question and the company has grappled with cash burn...

      having just returned from the wilds of los angeles and the mad max level dystopia locally referred to as "the 405" i have some thoughts on $TSLA having seen a fair few in their natural habitat and spoken to several drivers thereof.

      (FC) => in den USA ist, anders als hierzulande, Zeit mehr "wert" als Geld -- und wenn dann eben noch hinzukommt, daß man sich ungern in einem Chevrolet Bolt blicken läßt, dann kommt eben so ein Phänomen wie Tesla dabei heraus

      => man muss allerdings auch sagen:
      • ganz so einfach ist es mit den HOV lanes nicht, da man sie auch "Solo" benutzen darf, wenn man (offiziell) einen FasTrak Transponder benutzt - und dann eben die HOV lanes als Mautstraßen benutzen darf
      • auch ist eine Bestrafung bei Fehlbelegung (siehe Kommentare unten), eher nicht zu befürchten

      --> auch - und natürlich - über die Effizienz der HOV lanes (in LA) kann man streiten:
      Mar 23, 2017
      Metro will consider tighter rules for carpool lanes
      Two riders may not cut it anymore
      https://la.curbed.com/2017/3/23/15039086/traffic-carpool-lan…
      => und man sieht:
      • die Regeln können sich (schnell) ändern
      • ...und: schon eingangs werden diese Spuren als "sluggish" bezeichnet (als "träge, langsam")

      => d.h., ob die HOV lanes dem einzelnen wirklich etwas bringen in seiner spezifischen Alltagssituation sei mal dahngestellt

      --> nur:
      • wer liest schon akademische Verkehrsstudien, bevor er sich ein Auto kauft? :D

      => und damit:
      • die M3-Benutzer (in spe) wollen eben nun die HOV lanes auch (solo) benutzen dürfen (ohne Extrakosten ;) ), wie schon zuvor die S- und X-Benutzer

      Elon Musk on 60 Minutes/CBS: "I do not respect the SEC."
      https://thehill.com/policy/technology/420473-musk-rips-sec-i…

      =>
      ...Tesla founder Elon Musk said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he does not respect the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), but that he complied with a settlement with the organization because he respects "the justice system."

      Musk was asked on CBS's "60 Minutes" about the fallout from his settlement with the SEC that stemmed from an investigation into a tweet Musk sent in August in which he said he had secured funding to take Tesla private at $420 per share

      "I want to be clear. I do not respect the SEC. I do not respect them," Musk said.

      "But you're abiding by the settlement, aren't you?" reporter Lesley Stahl asked.

      "Because I respect the justice system," Musk responded...

      => ich glaube das diese Aussage zumindest den Richter für sein SEC Settlement aufhorchen lässt - und kann mir daher schon negative Konsequenzen vorstellen -- in ein paar Tagen

      => die SEC ist schließlich ziviler Bestandteil des U.S.-Rechtssystems

      => er spielt schon unnötig und öffentlich mit dem Feuer => was kann oder will er damit gewinnen??

      Reuters: Tesla, smarting from trade war, seeks bids for China Gigafactory construction
      6.12.
      https://www.reuters.com/article/us-tesla-china-exclusive/exc…

      =>
      ...Tesla Inc has opened a tender process to build its Shanghai Gigafactory and at least one contractor has started buying materials, according to sources and documents reviewed by Reuters, the clearest indication that construction is imminent.

      The details, previously unreported, reveal that state-owned Shanghai Construction Group Co Ltd is taking part in the bidding while a unit of China Minmetals Corp Ltd is preparing materials for the plant’s foundations.

      The $2 billion factory, Tesla’s first in China, is a major bet for the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) maker as it looks to bolster its presence in the world’s biggest auto market where its earnings have been hit by increased tariffs on U.S. imports.

      The so-called Gigafactory would also be China’s first wholly foreign-owned car plant, whose progress is widely seen as a reflection of Sino-U.S. relations and also the degree to which China is opening up its markets.

      Tesla, led by billionaire Chief Executive Elon Musk, has begun seeking bids from companies looking to build the plant, according to two people with knowledge of the matter and a construction document on an official local bidding platform.

      Shanghai Construction Group is among several firms bidding, the two people said, declining to be identified because the information was not public.

      Shanghai Baoye Group Co Ltd, a China Minmetals subsidiary, is preparing for the delivery of a large amount of concrete pipe piles and steel pile tips in the second half of December, showed a document on the metals giant’s website....

      Tesla Plans to Use Stock-Cash Mix to Pay Off March Debt
      6.12.
      https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-06/tesla-is-…
      =>
      Electric-car maker may settle half of $920 million with cash
      • Stock price still volatile with maturity looming months away

      ...Tesla Inc. has notified holders of bonds due in March that if they elect to convert the debt, they’ll be paid with a 50-50 mix of cash and stock, according to a copy of the settlement notice seen by Bloomberg News.

      The notice, dated Nov. 30, relates to the $920 million convertible bond due at the beginning of March. The equity-conversion price is $359.88 per share, a level Tesla’s stock closed above on Thursday for the first time since Aug. 8.

      The decision to use both cash and equity to pay off the debt may be a show of confidence by the Elon Musk-led company that it’s going to be sustainably profitable going forward. The electric-car maker reported $881 million in positive free cash flow for the third quarter, a major turnabout following the costly and tumultuous period in which it was starting Model 3 sedan production.

      “This would be a clear sign that, if there was a meaningful amount paid in cash, then they feel they can consistently produce cash flow and profit,” BI’s Joel Levington said in an interview. “Maybe there’s some credence to what consensus is throwing out and what they said on the last earnings call.”

      Tesla didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment....

      => der nächste:
      Todd Maron, Tesla’s top lawyer and a confidant of Elon Musk, is departing the company after more than five years
      ...
      The Silicon Valley electric-car maker plans to replace Mr. Maron with Washington, D.C., trial lawyer Dane Butswinkas, who is chairman of Williams & Connolly. He will report directly to Mr. Musk.

      A Tesla spokesman confirmed the plan and issued a statement on Mr. Butswinkas’s behalf: “Tesla’s mission is bigger than Tesla—one that is critical to the future of our planet.”

      It’s hard to identify a mission more timely, more essential, or more worth fighting for,” he said in the statement...
