India`s Satyam Infoway says Q1 revenues up 400 pct
MADRAS, India, July 11 (Reuters) - Indian Internet service provider Satyam Infoway Ltd (NasdaqNM:SIFY - news) said on Tuesday its revenues in the first quarter of 2000/2001 (April-March) had jumped 400 percent to 321.7 million rupees ($7.20 million).
The firm had posted a revenue of 80.8 million rupees in the year-ago period.
The firm said in a statement its net loss in the quarter ended June 30 was 178.3 million rupees.
A company spokesman told Reuters the firm posted a net loss of 51.7 million rupees in the corresponding quarter last year.
On Monday, Wall Street research firm Salomon Smith Barney had forecast strong revenue growth at Satyam Infoway in the first quarter and estimated revenues of $7.6 million for the three months ended June 30, compared with $1.9 million in the year-ago quarter.
Satyam Infoway, an affiliate of Indian computer services firm Satyam Computer Services Ltd , is India`s largest private ISP and is one of three Indian companies listed on the Nasdaq.
The firm said it had over 200,000 subscribers at the end of June. ($ equals 44.68 rupees)
