Offering Providers a New Source of Revenue
The US patent has been approved for interQ`s unique "Hypersystem"* series of inventions related to internet advertising, and to mark the occasion, interQ is planning to develop a new internet advertising revenue model system based on "Hypersystem." interQ has decided to offer it to all Japanese providers for no charge, with interQ`s receiving revenue in the form of commissions for the advertising placed using Hypersystem.
"Hypersystem" is a basic system that uses Internet advertising to partially support the revenue for sales operations and portal sites from advertising revenue for providers. When an Internet user hooks up, the system automatically places a window on the screen separate from the browser, displaying advertising which focuses only on themes of interest to the user (targeting) thanks to a questionnaire filled out by the user beforehand. All the user has to do is simply click on the advertisement and the advertiser`s web page is displayed in the main browser window.
Those advertising fees come back to the user via the provider. interQ is renowned as the first company in the world to introduce a free internet connection service with ASCII Corporation.
The "Hypersystem" patent was approved in Singapore in October of last year. Of the six patents pending approval in the US, the one for a "system which displays information separately into a browser and a viewer for displaying advertisements" was approved in December.
Working from the position that providers in Japan receive most of their revenue from connection fees, interQ has decided to distribute a new advertising revenue model system based on the patent for this "Hypersystem" in order to provide a stable advertising revenue model for providers with a new advertising infrastructure solution. By aiming to provide a high-quality and inexpensive connection service, interQ believes it will contribute to the development of broadband in Japan, which will in turn work for the profit of all users.
The internet environment of the 21st century will be a new era, with cable TV, ADSL, optical fiber, and other broadband connections replacing the present connection infrastructure using telephone lines and so on.
interQ will greet the coming broadband era by providing a stable income to providers and inexpensive service to users, and hopefully contributing to the expansion of the internet industry as a whole.
Service start-up dates and prices will be announced as soon as they are decided.

NetZero recently filed suit against Juno Online Services in the Los Angeles District Court for violating the "Hypersystem" patent with their banner advertisement placement technology. On January 8 the court upheld one part of NetZero`s claims and ordered Juno to temporarily cease use of its system.
