USA baut Internet-Schutzschild

Neben dem umstrittenen Raketenabwehrsystem National Missile Defense (NMD) bauen die USA einem Zeitungsbericht nach auch einen Internet-Schutzschild gegen Angriffe von außen auf.

Ziel dieses "virtuellen NMD" sei es, staatliche und privatwirtschaftliche Netzwerke in den USA gegen Cyber-Angriffe zu verteidigen. "Das Projekt ist in seiner sicherheitsrelevanten und finanziellen Dimension mit dem NMD zu vergleichen", so James Adams, Berater des Geheimdienstes NSA, in einem Gespräch mit dem "Handelsblatt".

Die bereits vom früheren Präsidenten Bill Clinton skizzierten Pläne ("Fidnet") würden unter George W. Bush jetzt konkretisiert, betonte der Leiter der für das Projekt zuständigen Regierungsstelle, John Tritak. Bestehende Projekte würden zusammen geführt und neue entworfen. Ohne sein virtuelles Gegenstück mache auch das eigentliche NMD keinen Sinn, meinte Tritak.

Bush hat dem "Handelsblatt" zufolge bereits eine Aufstockung der finanziellen Cyber-Schutz-Mittel zugesichert: "Die Entwicklung neuer IT-Systeme mit weit reichenden Sicherheitsmaßnahmen wird gefördert und finanziert", heißt es in einem Bericht des Weißen Hauses vom Februar. Der Schutzschild solle bis 2003 verfügbar sein, die Kosten würden auf mehr als 30 Milliarden Dollar geschätzt.

Daran sollten sich auch die Unternehmen beteiligen, da sich beim Schutz der Netzwerke militärische und privatwirtschaftliche Bereiche nicht trennen ließen. So waren in den vergangenen Jahren neben dem US-Verteidigungsministerium und der NATO auch NASA und Microsoft das Ziel von Hacker-Angriffen gewesen. (PC-WELT, 05.03.2001, dpa/mp)

NEW YORK, March 6 (Reuters) - The shares of several Internet security companies rose sharply Tuesday after Bear Sterns analyst Bob Lam said concerns about the sector`s earnings appeared to be unfounded.Lam believes that, unlike other types of software providers, Internet security makers will pretty much be immune from a slowdown in corporate spending on technology.
``I don`t think security is discretionary,`` Lam told Reuters. ``As long as you stay in business you need security. That`s true in the physical world too. We still think the names we`re recommending will meet or beat expectations.``

CHKP kommt heute vor Börseneröffnung mit den Quartalszahlen.
Erwartet werden 146 Mio. $ Umsatz (nach 78 Mio.in 2000) und 29-31 Cent pro Aktie.

Es würde mich aber nicht wundern, wenn CHKP kurzfristig noch etwas konsolidiert, zumal die Flüsterschätzungen bereits bis 39 Cent gehen.

Auf jeden Fall bin ich überzeugt, dass die Zahlen wie immer sehr gut ausfallen.-----> stooooooong buuuuuuyyyyyyyy

da konsolidiert nix: check point bereits 5% im plus. leider bin ich hektisch bei 90 E eingestiegen, hätt ich wieder a bisserl warten sollen. da aber werte die positiv überraschen bzw. ihre prognosen gut erfüllen z.z. ordentlich belohnt werden bin ich guter dinge für die nächsten wochen und monate - check point ist schon seit 9 monaten auf meiner watchlist...
