Steve was able to confirm that a Form 211 for Actc has been received. He said he was not able to tell me the date it was received at their office.

He stated that as per their procedures the analyst on the file has 3 business days to make a decision. The application is either accepted or the analyst requests more information from the market maker.

If the market maker has to provide more information the analyst has 7 business days to make a decision. and so on

Jay on Yahoo posted that he heard the form 211 was received on Sept 1. If true then the company could receive notification today and be relisted on Tuesday unless additional information is required.

I was surprised to see that the Nasdaq made a golden cross today. Unfortunately I don’t think that pattern is actionable. But since I pointed out the death cross several weeks ago I thought it was only fair that I point out the golden cross. It is a good (bullish) sign though that the 50-day moving average is back above the 200-day. That’s just one more thing the bulls can feel good about. And the bears have to be concerned that support didn’t break today…

TheDane......excellent chart.....this is called a "Golden Cross"!! Classic prices begin a move up, the shorter term moving average will generally begin below the longer term moving average. So, the 50day MA will be below the 200day MA. As the price continues its ascent, the 50day MA will cross the 200day MA and continue above it until there is a change the the price action of the stock. The point at which the shorter term MA moves above the longer term MA is known as the Golden Cross, and is considered a buy point.

This means that the stock will turn Bullish as this completes the move....I say we are up over the next few days big time.

Wenn hier die Nachricht kommen würde, überspitzt formuliert:

dann hätte ACTC einen Kurssprung dreimal so hoch wie seinerzeit beim Schaf "Dolly" (schaut mal nach).

Keine Ahnung, ob die Nachricht kommt und wenn, wann, aber oben fett (von mir) Markiertes lässt eine solche Nachricht zumindest in den Bereich des Möglichen rücken. Daraus müsste der PPS in den nächsten Monaten seine Fantasie und Dynamik speisen können, trotz der küzlich beschlossenen A/S, die für die Finanzierung wichtig waren, damit es in diese bahnbrechende Richtung weiter gehen kann.

Was mich im übrigen weiterhin sehr zuversichtlich stimmt - obwohl ich mich insofern wiederhole - ist die Tatsache, dass von ACTC alle Ankündigungen eingehalten / erfüllt wurden.

Abwendung drohende Insolvenz - Kapitalbeschaffung - Segmentwechsel von den pink sheets zur OTC - IND-Filing - ... (jetzt ist die FDA am Zug) - ...

Ein Plan ("eine Vision") wird konsequent weiter verfolgt und vorangetrieben, schrittweise umgesetzt und versucht, zum Ziel zu führen.

Im Gegensatz zu den unzähligen scams, die in Stoß-Zeiten zur weiteren Aktien-Vermehrung im (kurzfristigen) Kurs-Hype die "news" im Tages-Takt lancieren, ohne dass im Ergebnis was Substantielles für die Fa. und deren Alt-shareholders bewirkt wird.

The U.S. government approved the first 13 new batches of human embryonic stem cells on Wednesday, opening their use for federally funded research under reduced restrictions announced by President Barack Obama in March. [ID:nN028145]

Following are some facts about stem cells:

* Stem cells are the body's master cells, the source of all cells and tissue, including brain, blood, heart, bones and muscles.

* Embryonic stem cells come from days-old embryos and can produce any type of cell in the body.

* Scientists generally harvest embryonic stem cells from embryos left over after in-vitro fertilization attempts at fertility clinics. They can also be produced using cloning technology but U.S. rules allow for federal funding only of work on surplus IVF embryos.

* Scientists hope to harness the transformational qualities of stem cells to treat a variety of diseases, including injuries, cancer and diabetes.

* The issue has been controversial because some people believe the destruction of any human embryo is wrong.

* President George W. Bush restricted the use of federal funds to only a few batches of already-existing human embryonic stem cells in 2001. President Barack Obama lifted the restriction in March and asked the National Institutes of Health to decide which embryonic stem cells could be used in federally funded research.

* States such as California, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey acted on their own to fund this research during the years of the Bush restrictions. Institutions such as Harvard University also set up separate operations to pursue the research using private money.

* Several companies are pursuing stem cell research including Geron Corp (GERN.O), Stemcells Inc (STEM.O), Advanced Cell Technology (ACTC.OB), NeuralStem (CUR.A), Aastrom Biosciences Inc (ASTM.O), Reneuron Group Plc (RQE.L), Osiris Therapeutics Inc (OSIR.O), Neostem Inc (NBS.A), Cytori Therapeutics Inc (CYTX.O), iZumi Bio Inc and International Stem Cell Corp (ISCO.OB).

* U.S. legislation called the Dickey Amendment forbids the use of federal funds for the creation or destruction of human embryos for research, but new U.S. policy allows federally funded researchers to work with cells someone else took from an embryo.

* Researchers have discovered how to make embryonic-like cells from ordinary cells, called induced pluripotent stem cells. Opponents of embryonic stem cell research say research can focus on this field, but most experts in the field agree that all approaches must be pursued.

The research, which appears online (published-ahead-of- print) in the journal STEM CELLS by ACT and its collaborators at Stem International (SCRMI), Harvard Medical School, and the University of Illinois, compares a variety of replacement cell types derived from human iPS cells to their embryonic stem (ES) cell counterparts.

The research shows that human iPS cells can generate blood, vascular and retinal cells with characteristics similar to those derived from ES cells, but with a dramatic decreased efficiency. However, in distinct contrast to the ES cell derivatives, major differences were observed in cells derived from iPS cells, including significantly increased cell death (apoptosis), severely limited growth and expansion capability, as well as a substantially decreased capacity to generate blood progenitors. After further differentiation into red blood cells, over a thousand-fold difference in expansion capability was observed in iPS cells versus ES cell progenitors. Although vascular cells derived from iPS cells were capable of forming capillary-like structures, the cells also demonstrated early cell aging (senescence). Similarly, retinal cells derived from iPS cells also displayed early signs of aging.

"Before clinical application, it will be necessary to determine the cause and extent of such abnormalities, and whether they also occur in stem cells generated using different reprogramming methods" said Robert Lanza, M.D., Chief Scientific Officer at ACT, and senior author of the study. "Fortunately, we think the problem may be related to the use of viruses. Preliminary results suggest that these abnormalities are significantly reduced using stem cells generated without the use of viruses or genetic manipulation. Although there is excitement that iPS cells can serve as an embryo-free source of stem cells, it would premature to abandon research using embryonic stem cells until we fully understand what's causing these problems."

Rapid progress is being made towards controlled differentiation of human iPS cells into specific tissue types, such as heart, liver, and eye including retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Although these studies clearly suggest a similar differentiation potential between iPS and embryonic stem cells, it is unclear whether they can be expanded into homogeneous cell populations suitable for use in drug discovery and clinical translation.

"A major hallmark of ES-derived cells is the high recovery and proliferative capability of the cells," stated Shi-Jiang Lu, Ph.D., Senior Director of Stem International and co-senior author of the paper. "We compared the characteristics of cells derived from iPS and ES cells, and found that blood and vascular derivatives from iPS cells display abnormal molecular and/or cellular processes compared to their corresponding ESC counterparts. Similarly, RPE cells derived from iPS cells began senescing in the first passage, indicating the observed phenomenon is not limited to hemangioblastic lineages."

Official reports have confirmed that the National Institutes of Health is now proposing an expansion of its definition of human embryonic stem cells, thereby allowing university researcher it funds to work with cells which have been taken from a very early human egg.

The new proposal has the potential to benefit various academic researchers and a company called Advanced Cell Technology, which has filed a request with the US Food and Drug Administration to undertake the testing of a treatment for macular degeneration, which is an eye disease. If approved, it would become one of the first clinical tests of embryonic stem cells, which were first discovered in the year 1988.

Currently, most of the human embryonic stem cell lines are generated from the blastocyst, an embryonic stage reached five days after fertilization, but the NIH is now looking to add to its list of approved cell lines those which have been created from blastomeres, cells which are generated after the fertilized egg’s first few divisions.

US orphan drug designation is granted to companies with products aimed at treatment of a rare disease or condition that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently proposed broadening the definition of a human embryonic stem cell to include ACT’s “single blastomere technology platform” which was used to derive ACT’s MA09-hRPE cells. The Company believes that the SMD program should be eligible for federal funding once the change is published in the Federal Register.

Degenerative diseases of the retina are among the most common causes of untreatable blindness in the world, and as many as ten million people in the United States have photoreceptor degenerative disease. While most of these patients have Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a smaller number have Stargardt’s, an Orphan disease and to date an untreatable form of juvenile macular degeneration leading to blindness in a much younger group of patients than are affected by AMD. ACT’s treatment for eye disease uses stem cells to re-create a type of cell in the retina that supports the photoreceptors needed for vision. These cells, called retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), are often the first to die off in SMD and AMD, which in turn leads to loss of vision.

While there is currently no treatment for SMD, several years ago ACT and its collaborators discovered that human embryonic stem cells could be a source of RPE cells. Subsequent studies found that the cells could restore vision in animal models of macular degeneration. In a Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) rat model, implantation of RPE cells resulted in 100% improvement in visual performance over untreated controls, without any adverse effects. The cells survived for more than 220 days and sustained extensive photoreceptor rescue. Functional rescue was also achieved in the ‘Stargardt’s’ mouse with near-normal functional measurements recorded at more than 70 days.

WORCESTER, Mass., Apr 23, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. /quotes/comstock/11k!actc (ACTC 0.09, +0.00, +1.64%) announced today that it has completed key animal studies in connection with its Phase I multicenter study using embryonic stem cell derived Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) cells to treat patients with Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy (SMD), for which it filed an Investigational New Drug Application (IND) with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in November. The studies demonstrated an excellent safety profile with no safety signals such as tumors or ectopic tissues. The studies were designed to address the FDA's request for additional data on tumorigenicity and biodistribution. The Company believes that the data will support the FDA granting clearance for the Company to commence the SMD study in humans later this year. The studies were completed in conjunction with Sinclair Research, based in Columbia, Missouri, Charles River Labs, MPI and Althea Labs, which have been the company's outside independent collaborators on both studies.

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. (“ACT”; OTCBB:ACTC) announced today that it has submitted documentation and a complete response to substantively address the issues raised by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in connection with the Company’s plans to initiate a Phase I/II multicenter study using embryonic stem (ES) cell derived retinal cells to treat patients with Stargardt’s Macular Dystrophy (SMD).

In November 2009, ACT filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application to commence treating patients. ACT believes the design of its product and the choice of SMD, from a safety standpoint, represents an ideal cellular product to gain early experience and knowledge about ES cell safety.

The additional details submitted to the FDA support the Company’s belief that the product would be safe and well tolerated by patients. The Company’s process for differentiating ES cells to retinal pigmented epithelial (RPE) cells is not permissive to ES cell persistence in the culture. In fact, no stem cells could be detected even when the RPE cells were spiked during culture with up to 10 percent ES cells. “Our batch release assay has a level of detection of less than 0.0001% for ES cell contamination of RPE cell cultures,” said Robert Lanza, M.D., Chief Scientific Officer at ACT. “We can detect a single stem cell in over a million RPE cells. This is especially significant considering the small number of cells (50,000 to 200,000) to be administered into a controlled space in the eye. Stem cells can’t persist in our culture process, and therefore do not pose a risk of contamination of the final RPE cells to be transplanted.”

ACT’s animal models were designed to assess the safety of cells in the injected eyes. The response to the FDA provides additional data to address the specific concerns presented by the Agency. In addition, studies for tumorigenicity and safety/biodistribution were extended to the lifetime of the animals. The implanted RPE cells survived long-term in the eyes of animals, and no tumors formed as a consequence to the implanted cells. No other adverse findings associated with treatment with RPE cells were observed from histological or pathological evaluation of the animals. “We observed kinetics typical for successful transplantation of the cells,” said Edmund V. Mickunas, ACT’s Vice President of Regulatory. “Histology at all time point’s revealed persistence of human cells without inflammation or immune cell infiltration; and, without tumor formation.”

“We are extremely encouraged by this product opportunity, both in terms of safety and efficacy,” said William M. Caldwell IV, ACT’s Chairman and CEO. “We did not observe any tumorigenicity or adverse abnormal findings. First Derivation Of Human Embryonic Stem Cells Without Exposure To Cell Feeders

Worcester, MA – March 8, 2005 – A.C.T. Holdings (OTC Bulletin Board: ACTH) and Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. (ACT) reported the first derivation of human embryonic stem cells in completely feeder-layer-free and serum-free conditions. The research, which appears online (ahead of print) in the journal The Lancet, by ACT and its collaborators, describes a system for producing embryonic stem cells which markedly reduces the risk of contamination with pathogens that could be transmitted to patients and the population-at-large.

To-date, all human embryonic stem cell lines have been isolated in contact with either mouse or human cells that may have contaminated the stem cells with viruses or other pathogens. It is therefore likely that the human embryonic stem cell lines authorized for federal research funding under the President’s August 9, 2001 policy are therefore unsuitable for use in transplant medicine. “The ability to generate embryonic stem cells without exposure to living cells or serum solves a major problem associated with the use of these cells in future medical therapies,” said Robert Lanza, Vice President of Medical & Scientific Development at ACT, and senior author of the study. “There are unique challenges associated with the earliest stages of stem cell derivation. Our study shows that the cell- and serum-free derivation of new embryonic stem cell lines is possible from the beginning.”

Although feeder-free systems have been described in the past, they have all been used for the maintenance of previously-established human embryonic stem cell lines that have already been exposed to potential contamination by contact with such animal cells. “The routine culture of existing stem cells is like maintaining a house you live in,” said Irina Klimanskaya, Director of Stem Cell Biology at ACT, and first author of the paper. “However, establishing a new cell line is comparable to building a new house on an undeveloped site beginning with only blueprints. Of course, the challenge of establishing stem cell lines in a feeder-free system is even greater than merely building a house. Only those culture systems that ensure the most favorable environment for the growth of stem cells will yield new lines, and our system provided such an environment.”

The extracellular-matrix-coated plates used in ACT’s study proved remarkably stable, and could be easily sterilized using a variety of conventional treatment and sterilization processes. This work also represents an important step toward a completely animal product-free culture system for the derivation and maintenance of new “clean” embryonic stem cell lines.

Michael D. West, Chairman, President, and Chief Scientific Officer of ACT, and an author on the paper said: “The advance of regenerative medicine from the laboratory bench to the bedside will require steps like these, to guarantee that the life-giving cells are free of any known viruses or pathogens. We hope that public policy will facilitate the exploration of new “clean” cell lines by medical researchers to determine that they are indeed free of potential pathogens, and to fashion new therapies from these cells for currently untreatable diseases.”

Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. (“ACT”; OTCBB:ACTC) announced today that it has filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to initiate a Phase I/II multicenter study using human embryonic stem cell (hESC) derived retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells to treat patients with Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (Dry AMD). Dry AMD reportedly afflicts more than 30 million people worldwide, including an estimated13-15 million Americans. Approximately 10% of people 66 to 74 years of age will have findings of macular degeneration, and this prevalence increases to 30% in patients 75 to 85 years of age.

Dry AMD, or “central geographic atrophy,” is the “dry” form of advanced Age-Related Macular Degeneration. Dry AMD occurs when the light-sensitive cells (photoreceptors) in the macula slowly break down, gradually blurring central vision in the affected eye. Over time, as less of the macula functions, central vision is gradually lost in the affected eye, often progressing to blindness. The loss of photoreceptors is a direct result of a preceding degeneration of the RPE layer of cells just below the retina. Dry AMD is much more common than wet AMD, which results from aberrant blood vessel formation in the eye. Some 85-90 percent of all people with intermediate and advanced AMD combined suffer from the dry form. Despite representing a $25-30 Billion market opportunity, there are currently no FDA-approved treatments for Dry AMD available.

The Phase I/II trial will be a prospective, open-label study that is designed to determine the safety and tolerability of the RPE cells following sub-retinal transplantation to patients with Dry AMD. A total of 12 patients will be enrolled in the study at multiple clinical sites. The sites which are currently under consideration are the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA; the Ophthalmology Department at Stanford University School of Medicine; and the Edward S. Harness Eye Institute at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons; additional sites may be considered.

“We can generate a virtually unlimited supply of healthy RPE cells,” said Robert Lanza, MD, ACT’s Chief Scientific Officer. “In our animal studies, we observed significant improvement in visual performance over untreated animals, and did not find any adverse effects of the injection of RPE cells. In extending our studies to human patients, it is our hope that we will show that the injected RPE cells will rescue photoreceptors and slow, if not stop, the progression of macular degeneration.”

On November 22, ACT announced that it had received FDA approval to begin treating patients as part of the company’s Phase I/II Clinical Trial treat Stargardt’s Disease, a form of juvenile macular degeneration. Company scientists view the use of the same hESC derived RPE cells for both trials as the most efficacious approach, as it permits the Company to leverage its experience with the FDA that it gained through the process of obtaining approval for the Stargardt’s clinical trial to expedite the approval of its clinical trial in Dry AMD.

“We are seeing the beginning of new era in medical treatment,” continued Dr. Lanza. “The hope that stem cell therapies may one day repair and regenerate diseased organs and tissue goes far beyond what can be accomplished with traditional medicine. This approval shows an apparent readiness by the FDA to work with researchers to move exciting new stem cell based therapies out of the lab and into the clinic.”

“Filing this IND represents the culmination of years of innovation and hard work by ACT’s scientific team,” said William M. Caldwell IV, Chairman and CEO of ACT. “With this second IND, and our plans to expand our studies in Europe, ACT is positioning itself as a true ‘translational’ leader in the field of regenerative medicine. hab den Zug verpasst und muss nun mit 1/4 meiner alten Position glücklich sein... ;-)

Ach ja Feb 2009... ich zittere immmer noch wenn ich an den 300% Tag zurückdenke - war da nicht noch Multicell ebenfalls mit einige 100% unterwegs... Und dann im Juli 2009 der große Fall, nachdem bekannt wurde wie viele Aktien im Umlauf waren.

Bin gespannt und mit dem einen viertel auch sehr entspannt.
