      Eyre Peninsula Joint Venture

      • WISCO to take a 60% interest in the iron ore rights to 5 of Centrex’s exploration tenements on the Eyre Peninsula
      • WISCO to pay Centrex A$ 51,5 Mio on completion (A$0,5 Mio already paid) and a further A$26 Mio on the 1.anniversary of the completion (total A$78 Mio)
      • WISCO to pay 4 further payments of A$27 Mio if and when the JORC Inferred Resources for the project reach 1,25; 1,5; 1,75 and 2 Mrd t respectively
      • WISCO to additionally sole fund the first A$75 Mio of exploration for the JV.
      • WISCO to assist with project financing for construction.

      Bungalow Joint Venture

Baotou to pay up to A$40 Mio for a 50% interest in the iron ore rights which covers the Bungalow magnetite deposit. This payments to the JV will consist of:
      • Stage 1 payment of A$8 Mio to be spent on exploration and studies from which A$2,2 Mio is to be reimbursed to Centrex for work to date on Stage 1. Baotou will be assigned 10% in the iron ore rights to EL3610.
      • Stage 2 payment of A$8 Mio to be spent on exploration and studies. Baotou will be assigned a further 10% in the iron ore rights on EL3610.
      • Stage 3 payment of A$24 Mio to be spent on a BFS. Baotou will be assigned a further 30% in the iron ore rights on EL3610 taking its equity to 50%.

      Bewertung

According to Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation (WISCO), senior officials from the Australia-based mining company Centrex Metals Limited (CXM) paid a visit to WISCO on November 1, during which CXM chairman and CEO David Klingberg held talks with WISCO general manager Deng Qilin.

In July this year, WISCO's Australian subsidiary Wugang Australian Resources concluded an agreement with CXM to obtain a 60 percent stake in the latter's new iron ore project located on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. Under the agreement, Wugang Australian Resources delivered a down payment of AU$51.5 million and an exploration fee of AU$50 million to CXM, which in turn handed over the mining license in question to Wugang Australian Resources. Upon completion of the project, the mine will have an annual production capacity of 33 million mt of raw ore and 10 million mt of iron ore concentrate. The total investment of the project is expected to reach $1.5 billion.

As announced by WISCO in connection with the visit by the CXM officials, WISCO has already commenced exploration work in the mining area in question, with a total of 19 drillings to be completed by mid-November.

CENTREX UNVEILS NEW STRATEGY TO MOVE TO MULTI-MINE START-UP THROUGH ITS OWN S.A. PORT

      Highlights:

      • Priority now on first production by 2014/2015 from multiple EP mines, not single mine
      • New strategy supported by Centrex's Chinese mining and port development partners
      • Both magnetite & hematite production exported across new Sheep Hill wharf
      • Less priority on single mine startup from Wilgerup exported through Port Lincoln
      • Enhanced strategy underpinned by financial commitments secured only in June/July this year

      ein Nachtrag vom 06.01.11:

Major Project Status for Sheep Hill
      http://www.stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=CXM&E=ASX&N=1813…

Auszug: Centrex welcomes the announcement today by the South Australian Government declaring the proposed Sheep Hill deepwater bulk commodities export port on Eyre Peninsula, an infrastructure proposal warranting “Major Project” status.

The declaration – by SA’s Premier, Mr Mike Rann, and Urban Development and Planning Minister, Mr Paul Holloway – means the economic importance of the proposal is deemed such that the Government will be the responsible entity for setting the guidelines on how all factors of the project will be assessed.

Centrex and China Top 5 steelmaker, Wuhan Iron and Steel Company (‘WISCO’) signed a Heads of Agreement early last year to form a 50:50 Joint Venture (‘JV’) to design and construct the deepwater port on 91 hectares of land secured by Centrex at Sheep Hill, 26 kilometres northeast of Tumby Bay on Eyre Peninsula’s eastern coastline.

WISCO is already a 60:40 partner with Centrex in the Eyre Iron JV to explore for and potentially develop a range of magnetite iron ore deposits on southern Eyre Peninsula, close to the proposed Sheep Hill port site.

Centrex expects to complete execution of the formal Centrex-WISCO port joint venture, shortly.

Centrex Metals has received ahead of schedule, payment from Baotou Iron & Steel (Group) Company (“Baotou”) of a further A$8 million, to commence the Stage 2 Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) of the Bungalow Magnetite Joint Venture on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.

This is the second progress payment by Baotou which has now invested a total of A$16 million into the Bungalow Joint Venture.

The Bungalow Stage 1 Scoping study currently underway is on schedule to be completed in June 2011. However, due to the encouraging results from the JV’s recent drilling program announced to ASX in November last year, and a desire to accelerate the project, Baotou has elected for an early payment of the Stage 2 PFS funds.

Following on from the recent drilling program, a revised Inferred Resource estimate is expected during March 2011.

The Stage 2 Pre-Feasibility study, now scheduled to commence late in March under this accelerated funding program, will involve Resource definition and geotechnical drilling. The drilling will be followed by process design, mining, environmental, transport and utilities studies.

      ...

The Stage 2 Pre-Feasibility study is now expected to be completed by early 2012.

In addition to the Bungalow Joint Venture, Centrex has also recently received major project status for the Sheep Hill port project on the Eyre Peninsula. The Sheep Hill site has been planned as a Cape size vessel capable deep water port facility to accommodate magnetite concentrate from both the Bungalow Joint Venture and the Company’s Eyre Iron Joint Venture with Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) Company Limited.
