American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (AEOS) is a specialty retailer of casual apparel, accessories, and footwear for men and women. American Eagle Outfitters followed strong February sales results with another solid performance for March.
Earlier this month, the company stated that total sales for the five-week period jumped +17.6% to $140.3 million. Meanwhile, consolidated same-store sales in the period advanced +7.5%. Such sales results go nicely with its late-February fiscal fourth quarter earnings per share result of 57 cents, which beat the consensus at the time by almost +4%. American Eagle Outfitters has enjoyed numerous upward revisions from analysts of late, and its earnings estimates for the year ending January 2005 are up 20 cents, or about +16%, from one month ago. That includes a rise of a penny in the past seven trading days. The company will not report its first quarter financial results until May 13th, but the earnings per share guidance for the quarter is between 25 cents and 30 cents, which would mark a substantial improvement over the year-ago total of 9 cents.
