Hallo,
in diesem Thread möchte ich gerne alle Informationen über Sinovac zusammentragen. Das chinesische Unternehmen ist in den letzten Tagen aufgrund der zunehmenden Bedrohung durch die Vogelgrippe verstärkt in den Mittelpunkt geraten.
Erst kürzlich hat das Unternehmen die Freigabe zur Produktion eines Impfstoffes erhalten. Das Unternehmen arbeitet auch an einem Impfstoff gegen SARS. Außerdem werden mit zwei weiteren Impfstoffen gegen Hepathitis bereits ansehnliche Umsätze generiert.
Ich traue dem Unternehmen in den nächsten Jahren eine erhebliche Wertsteigerung zu, was sich auch im Aktienkurs niederschlagen sollte.Ich selbst bin vor ein paar Tagen mit einer größeren Anzahl Aktien eingestiegen und betrachte mein Engagement als Langfristinvestition. Alle, die Sinovac nicht als Kurzfristzock verstehen sind hiermit herzlich eingeladen hier in diesem Thread alle wichtigen Informationen zu sammeln.
Die Aktien werden zwar auch in Deutschland gehandelt (Frankfurt und Berlin), es ist jedoch zu empfhlen die Aktien in den USA (AMEX: SVA) zu ordern.

Dr. Pan Aihua, Chairman of the Board of Sinovac, is a professor of Peking University. He got PHD from Political and Economics Department of Peking University. And he is the senior researcher of Beijing Marketing Economy Research Institute. Dr. Pan currently holds the position of Chairman of China Bioway Biotech Group Co., Ltd., Chairman of Sinovac Biotech Co., Ltd., Senior Consultant of Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Consultancy Commission and Hong Kong Biotech Unions, Executive Director of China National Bio-engineering, Deputy Director Committeeman of Industry Promotion Committee of China Biotech Academy, Vice Director-general of China Medicine Biological Technology Association and Assessment Expert in biological field of China`s 863 Hi-tech Plan.

Mr. Yin Weidong, the General Manager of Sinovac, got EMBA from National University of Singapore. He is responsible for the State Model Project for Hi-tech Industrialization. Mr. Yin has devoted his 20 years to study Hepatitis A Vaccine. Currently Mr. Yin Weidong is a Director and General Manager of Sinovac Biotech Co., Ltd. and is in charge of the "research on Inactivated SARS Vaccine"-one of the key projects in China`s 863 Plan during the "Tenth Five Years Plan" period.

Products
Healive® - Inactivated Hepatitis A Vaccine
Healive is the 1st inactivated hepatitis A vaccine developed by Chinese scientists with their own IPRs. It ended the history of having no technology for manufacturing inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine in China. Healive gained the state certificate as a new drug in 1999 and was launched in 2002.
No preservative
Healive is a purified inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine without any preservative.
Fast, efficient and long-lasting immune effectiveness
100% seroconversion after two-dose regimen. Healive has the same efficiency and long-lasting immune effectiveness with Havrix. If calculated according to the international Van Damme formula, Healive can provide protection for more than 20 years.

Bilivie
BiliveTM is the first, and currently only, combined inactivated hepatitis A and B vaccine developed by Chinese scientists. The R&D and clinical trial period for BiliveTM was completed in only four years (1999 to 2003). The SFDA issued a production license for marketing and sales of BiliveTM on January 7, 2005.
BiliveTM vaccine has only one directly competing product in the world, GlaxoSmithKline’s TwinrixTM, however only its adult dosage vaccine is registered with the Chinese government. Furthermore, it is very expensive with only a few thousand sales recorded after its launch into the market.
Sinovac used its proprietary hepatitis A vaccine in combination with a genetically engineered hepatitis B vaccine to develop the combined vaccine. BiliveTM is a combined vaccine, formulated by purified inactivated hepatitis A virus antigen and recombinant (yeast) hepatitis B surface (HBsAg) absorbed into aluminum hydroxide. BiliveTM induces the body`s immune system to generate antibodies as a reaction against hepatitis A and hepatitis B viruses.
BiliveTM junior is suitable for use in non-immune infants, children and adolescents from one year up to and including 15 years, who are at risk of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B infection.
BiliveTM adult is suitable for use in non-immune adults and adolescents 16 years of age and older, who are at risk of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B infection.
BiliveTM can be recommended for persons who remain in the vicinity of HAV and/or HBV, users of illicit intravenous drugs, homosexuals and bisexuals, hemophiliacs who receive therapeutic blood products, persons with nephropathy who receive dialysis treatment, and those persons who receive long term blood dialysis.
The standard, primary BiliveTM vaccination schedule consists of three doses. The second dose is administered one month after the first, and the third dose six months after the first. After three shots there is no need to receive a booster.
BiliveTM side effects are rare and of low intensity. The most common reactions were those at the site of injection, which included transient pain, redness and swelling. Systemic adverse events seen were fever, headache, fatigue, nausea and vomiting. These events were transient, only rarely reported and were considered by the subjects as mild.

Anflu
Loosely translated into English, Anflu means, “If you live in safe, you are very lucky.” It is Sinovac’s wish that those who chose an Anflu? vaccine will have the chance to live in safe.
Comparison of live attenuated influenza vaccines (LAIV) with Inactivated Influenza Vaccines – both inactivated influenza vaccine and LAIV are available to reduce the risk of influenza infection and illness. However, the vaccines also differ in key ways.
Major Similarities
LAIV and inactivated influenza vaccines contain strains of influenza viruses that are antigenically equivalent to the annually recommended strains: one influenza A (H3N2) virus, one A (H1N1) virus, and one B virus. Each year, one or more virus strains might be changed on the basis of global surveillance for influenza viruses and the emergence and spread of new strains. Viruses for both vaccines are grown in eggs. Both vaccines are administered annually to provide optimal protection against influenza infection.
Major Differences
Inactivated influenza vaccine contains killed viruses, whereas LAIV contains attenuated viruses still capable of replication. The user administers LAIV with an intranasal sprayer, whereas inactivated influenza vaccine is administered intramuscularly by injection. LAIV is more expensive than inactivated influenza vaccine. LAIV is approved for use only among healthy persons aged 5–49 years; inactivated influenza vaccine is approved for use among persons aged >6 months, including those who are healthy and those with chronic medical conditions.
Sinovac began split flu influenza vaccine research and development in 2001, completed clinical trials in early 2004, and filed its New Drug Application with the SFDA in June 2004. Quite significantly, the total time to market for Sinovac’s products have been consistently reduced, from ten years for HealiveTM, to just over four years for BiliveTM, to just under four years for AnfluTM.
The Company received a New Drug Certificate from the SFDA for its split flu vaccine (AnfluTM) on February 25, 2005. The AnfluTM production line is located in Beijing and nearing completion. The Company believes the SFDA will grant GMP certification for the production line in time to begin sales during the 2005-2006 flu season. AnfluTM is safe for children and the elderly.
The Company expects to produce 500,000 doses of split flu vaccine in the first year after completing construction of production facilities and 2 million doses per year thereafter.
Demand is expected to exceed Sinovac’s production capability as demand in China for flu vaccines largely exceeds total supply. As such, the Company intends to build another, much larger AnfluTM vaccine production facility if financing is obtained.

BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2005--Sinovac Biotech Ltd. ("Sinovac") ("the Company") (AMEX:SVA - News) announced today that the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) issued a production license for Sinovac`s proprietary influenza flu vaccine, Anflu(TM). The SFDA issued a new drug certificate for Anflu(TM) in March 2005, which provided Sinovac proprietary privileges for the vaccine. The production license was received July 27th (Beijing time), and authorizes Sinovac to begin vaccine production. Sinovac has already installed and tested all the latest production equipment into the facility and is ready to complete the final step in the application process for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification. Once approved, Sinovac will have three GMP certified state-of-the-art vaccine products selling in China. Sinovac`s other two products include Healive(TM), which immunizes against hepatitis A, and Bilive(TM), which immunizes against hepatitis A and hepatitis B. The Company`s new flu production line is situated at a new manufacturing facility next to its existing Beijing headquarters. Anflu(TM) is a split vaccine and Sinovac intends to establish itself as the market leader for split influenza vaccine production. About the SFDA China`s State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), is the highest state authority governing the nation`s drug industry. The SFDA`s main functions include the approval of drug registrations, the drafting and enforcement of industrial standards, and the issuing of licenses. The role and standing of the SFDA are essentially those of the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) in the United States. Without exception, all local and foreign drugs produced and/or marketed in China are required to meet relevant SFDA standards as a pre-requisite to their regular use and they are strictly bound by SFDA regulations.


Latest Figures
Sinovac is pleased to report its operating results and financial position for the year ended December 31, 2004. Revenues for 2004 were $6,454,000, representing 127% growth over 2003. Company sales in 2004 and 2003 were comprised entirely of its inactivated hepatitis A vaccine Healive™. Revenue growth in 2004 was due to an expanded sales network and improved corporate profile. The number of doses sold increased from 455,000 in 2003 to 1,002,106 in 2004.
The increase in gross profit margin to 70.0% in 2004 from 61.8% was primarily attributable to economies of scale from increased Healive™ production, which decreased the average cost per unit. Selling general and administrative expenses increased to $4,415,000 from $1,629,000 as Company sales expenses increased in 2004 owing to exploration of new markets and efforts to improve sales networks and sales strategy.
Research and development expenses for the split flu vaccine (AnfluTM) totaled $286,000 in 2004 and $233,000 in 2003. In addition, the Company undertook other research and development activities in 2004 that were funded by a research grant from the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and other central government agencies for $719,000 in 2004. The Company’s net loss for the year increased from $462,000 to $4,752,000. At December 31, 2004, the Company had cash and cash equivalents of $2,605,000 plus restricted cash of $391,000. The Company stockholders’ equity was $12,933,000.

Forward Looking Guidance

In 2005 the Company expects to increase production and sales of HealiveTM, and initiate production and sales of two new products. In 2005 Sinovac will market and sell BiliveTM (a combined inactivated hepatitis A and B vaccine) and AnfluTM (an influenza flu vaccine). Sales of both products are expected to follow HealiveTM’s sales pattern, beginning slowly the first year, and then growing quickly. The timing of Anflu sales depends on the date the SFDA approves the production line.
HealiveTM sales will continue to grow, however not at 2004’s 127% rate. BiliveTM will be Sinovac’s next product to launch in 2005. It targets a different market than HealiveTM, so the two vaccines will not compete with each other. BiliveTM immunization is recommended for all susceptible persons who are, or will be, at risk of exposure to both hepatitis A and B viruses, including but not limited to people who: live in or travel to areas that are endemic for both hepatitis A and B viruses; have chronic liver disease; serve as medical personnel; work with sewage treatment; work in day-care centers or correctional facilities; work at or reside at drug and alcohol treatment centers; are in the military; frequently receive blood products including persons who have clotting-factor disorders (hemophiliacs and other recipients of therapeutic blood products).
Ideally, AnfluTM marketing will begin in late summer of 2005, with sales expected to begin in the last quarter of 2005. This market timing will enable the Company to take advantage of their HealiveTM and BiliveTM promotions, thereby leveraging Sinovac’s growing name recognition and confidence in domestic market.
Dr. Yin noted, “We expect production costs for HealiveTM to continue decreasing, however first year production costs for BiliveTM and AnfluTM will likely offset HealiveTM’s lower costs. Combining these factors, we anticipate the gross margins in 2005 will remain near 2004 levels.”
Sinovac expects to see additional increases in selling, general and administrative expenses to support continuing market penetration and brand awareness.
The following represents the Company’s objectives for 2005:
- - Increase hepatitis A vaccine (Healive™) sales and revenues; initiate sales of it’s combined hepatitis A / B vaccine (Bilive™); and sales of it’s influenza flu vaccine (Anflu™). To accomplish this objective, Sinovac will:

Liquidity and Capital Resources
Sinovac’s capital requirements have generally been funded by cash flow from sales revenue, issuances of common stock. Cash and cash equivalents totaled $2,605,000 at December 31, 2004. Sinovac’s business and expansion plans for 2005 include:
- - Spending $4 million constructing an influenza vaccine production line;
- - Acquiring an additional 20.56% of Sinovac Beijing, giving the Company a 71.56% interest in that company (completed January 2005);
- - Increasing product promotion campaigns
In addition to income from product sales, Sinovac plans to raise necessary capital from the sale of equity securities sufficient to fund the Company’s business and expansion plans over the next 12 months.
The Company generated net cash of $1,185,000 in 2004 and $1,107,000 in 2003. A net loss of $4,752,000 incorporated certain non-cash charges including stock-based compensation ($4,428,000), a provision for doubtful debts ($374,000) and depreciation and amortization ($784,000). Changes in operating working capital consumed $1,566,000 of cash, resulting in net cash used in operations of $1,130,000.
The Company’s financing activities generated $6,545,000, which included $5,288,000 of newly raised share capital and $1,281,000 from government funding (net of qualified research and development expenditures). In 2004, the Company paid $399,000 to reduce an amount owed to a non-controlling shareholder of Sinovac Beijing. Other financing activities included loan proceeds of $3,268,000, loan payments of $3,099,000 and generating net loan proceeds of $207,000.
In 2004 the Company used $4,227,000 that included $1,650,000 to acquire property, plant and equipment. This was partially offset by cash of $42,000 acquired with the purchase of Tangshan Yian. Furthermore, Sinovac negotiated agreements that govern the purchase of a further 20.56% interest in Sinovac Beijing. In connection with these negotiations, the Company advanced $2,227,000 to two non-controlling shareholders of Sinovac Beijing as deposits on account of the Share Purchase Agreement. The deposits bear interest at 5.31%, and the principal and interest will be repaid to the Company when it makes full payment of the share purchase consideration. The acquisition of the additional 20.56% of Sinovac Beijing closed on January 31, 2005.

The Company generated an income tax recovery of $600,000 in 2004. It accrued a $93,000 liability for income taxes on profits in Sinovac Beijing and recorded a $693,000 deferred tax recovery that offset this expense. The Company’s taxable income in China is subject to Chinese income tax regulations for its reported statutory income declaration at a tax rate in accordance with the relevant income tax laws and regulations applicable to Sino-foreign joint ventures. Sinovac Beijing is subject to a 7.5% corporation income tax rate until 2006 and 15% tax rate after that. Tangshan Yian is eligible for a full exemption from income taxes for two years and a 50% reduction in income taxes for the three years following its first profit-making year. Currently, Tangshan Yian is in a loss position.
Interest and Financing Expenses
Interest and financing expenses were $369,000 in 2004 and $269,000 in 2003. The 2004 increase reflected higher levels of debt, largely due to the purchase of the Tangshan Yian facility.
Net Loss
The Company’s net loss was $4,752,000 in 2004 and $462,000 in 2003. The increase in net loss in 2004 was mainly due to increased stock-based compensation, while the increase in SG&A was largely funded by increases in product sales.
Employees
The Company has 169 full time employees as at December 31, 2004. The Company incurred employee compensation expenses of $788,000 in 2004. To supplement its employees, the Company retains the services of certain consultants on an “as needed” basis.

Stated Business Objectives
Sinovac’s business objective is to become a world leader in the research, development, manufacturing and commercialization of vaccines for epidemic viruses such as hepatitis and influenza, and for emerging viruses such as SARS and avian flu influenza (a.k.a. “bird flu”).
The Company believes that it is possible and financially viable to provide safe, efficient vaccines to all countries regardless of wealth. Through careful financial management, low production costs and modern, innovative techniques, the Company intends to continue to produce high quality vaccines and successfully service market sectors that many pharmaceutical giants are unable to service.
Marketing Objectives

The Company’s marketing strategy is based on two capabilities, organic growth, augmented as necessary with strategically beneficial acquisitions. The Company will combine and organize these capabilities into a bifurcated marketing plan (regional and global). Each branch of this plan is intended to focus on public and private sectors in order to achieve sales and growth objectives. The public sector consists of government and non-government organization (“NGO”) programs, and the private sector consists of independent, private health companies and private citizens.
First the Company intends to target progressive geographic expansion with its family of vaccines that target endemic viruses. The Company is growing and training its sales organization for the Chinese domestic market. Concurrently with its domestic marketing plan, the Company is establishing a marketing and sales presence in South East Asia and other developing countries through local distributors.
The second branch of the Company’s marketing plan goes into effect once the Company creates a blockbuster vaccine for defeating emerging viruses such as SARS or the avian flu. The Company believes a “first to market” advantage opens doors to international markets. In such a scenario, the Company intends to enter the international market with a worldwide network of professional sales teams and sales networks, a reliable customer-credit management system, and an efficient logistics system.
International Market Development Agreements Dissolved
In 2004, Sinovac signed an agreement with Innopath International to execute its international market development program and to register Healive™ in targeted countries. However, the Company was not satisfied with their progress and terminated the contract. Consequently, Sinovac has begun to implement its own international market development program, which it believes it can do successfully and at less cost. The company will continue the registration in those countries where Innopath has established a working relationship with local distributors. In each case, the distributors have over 10 years experience in commercialization and registration of vaccines and other pharmaceuticals. As such Sinovac believes it can establish governmental relationships and local sales networks, either on independently or through an agreement with another international marketing company, such as LG Life Sciences, Ltd.
Also in 2004, Sinovac entered a vaccine export agreement with MEHECO to develop the Brazilian market. Due to a Brazilian Government vaccine distribution policy change, the Company terminated its contract with MEHECO.
Dr. Yin is optimistic, “Our prospects are even better than before. Not only are we continuing to pursue opportunities in previously targeting countries, but we will also pursue registrations and screen vaccine distributors in other countries as well.”

A. 2 m doses are capacity OF NEW PLANT for COMMING Nov- DEC 2005 FLU VACCINE production(approved by China`s FDA already- just waiting for GMP certificate)

B. In 2004 they sold over 1 m doses of Hep. A vaccine produced in another faclity.
They predict sales growth of this one 20% in 2005 .MEANS THEY CAN PRODUCE AT LEAST 1.2 M DOSES seperately of (A).

C. In June 2005 they started SALES of second Hep A +B vaccine .Not sure if produced in separate plant but they
expect sales to follow Hep A curve = 1 m doses by next Y.(not competing with (A) market.

That means their capacity as of 2005 is 4.2 m doses of 3 DIFFERENT PRODUCTS.

4 M doses x roughly $ 6- 7 average /dose= 25 M rev vs 6.5 M rev 2004. That`s almost 400% more.
And est earnings at 70 % margin ( I am taking 50% to be safe) = $12M = $ 0.25 /share (at over 10% higher number of shares than now)
EPS $ 0.25 x P/E 25 = $ over 6 target price based JUST ON COMING SALES - not pipeline

If this is not enough for doubling the stock price $ 3 to $ 6 I do not know what is.
Just the hype/news back in Jan 2004 was enough to quadruple the price so, what about the REAL THING NOW?

MEMBERS of Britain’s elite have been selected as priority cases to receive scarce pills and vaccinations at the taxpayers’ expense if the country is hit by a deadly bird flu outbreak.
Workers at the BBC and prominent politicians — such as cabinet ministers — would be offered protection from the virus.



Ken Livingstone, the London mayor, has already spent £1m to make sure his personal office and employees have their own emergency supplies of 100,000 antiviral tablets.

If there is an avian flu pandemic in the coming months there would be enough drugs to protect less than 2% of the British population for a week.

The Department of Health has drawn up a priority list of those who would be first to receive lifesaving drugs. Top of the list are health workers followed by those in key public sector jobs.

Although senior government ministers would be among the high-priority cases, the department said this weekend that it had not decided whether to include opposition politicians.

BBC employees would be protected because the corporation is required to broadcast vital information during a national disaster.

Politicians and the media have been placed before sick patients, heavily pregnant women and elderly people by government planners.

Yesterday, leading BBC presenters were surprised to learn that they would be given preferential treatment. Jeff Randall, the BBC’s business editor, said: “Are you really telling me that I am on a priority list for bird flu jabs? Marvellous. I always knew there would be an advantage from working at the BBC.”

John Humphrys, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, said: “I think if I were offered the jab I would probably pass it on to someone 40 years younger than me.”

Nick Clarke, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s World at One, said: “I’m sure I wouldn’t qualify. My programme has news and comment and the one thing you can do without in a pandemic is comment . . . They would want to have Huw Edwards and reassuring newsreaders on radio.”

Fears that a “doomsday” virus may sweep the world have been heightened by the recent spread of the lethal strain of avian flu, H5N1. The death toll, estimated at 120, has been of people whose work brought them into close contact with infected birds. Scientists have warned that millions could die if H5N1 mutates.

The Department of Health would not currently be able to cope with such an onslaught. Although it has ordered 14.6m doses of Tamiflu, an antiviral drug thought to be effective against the H5N1 strain, only 900,000 doses are in stock so far. The full supply will not be delivered until March 2007, at a total cost of about £100m.

Besides the NHS and BBC, firemen, police and the armed forces are among those listed in the two top-priority groups to receive the vaccine.

Sinovac Financials

As with other countries, the Chinese government has demonstrated its commitment to defeating the anticipated avian flu pandemic. Most recently they did this by granting funds to Sinovac for avian flu vaccine research and development. The amount of funds is not specified; rather they will be provided in stages to cover the entire research and development process. This is the first time a grant has been awarded to cover expenses from the earliest stages of an R&D project.

According to the agreement between the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Sinovac in December 2004, Sinovac is responsible for avian flu vaccine research, development, application and production. Under the terms of the agreement, the new drug certificate, production license, and patents will all be applied for by Sinovac and as a result the commercial rights will be entirely owned by Sinovac.

In addition, Sinovac received a USD 4.94 million dollar credit line from China Construction Bank. The loan has a maturity of three years, with a 5.31% interest rate. This represents a preferred low interest rate as commercial loan interest rates are typically 6.3 - 6.9%. Sinovac will use it as a support for the daily operation and to increase productivity.

Why buy now..message aus dem Yahoo board:

I`m just not one of those who will EVER predict that a stock will zoom to 100 by the end of...the year? the month? the week? take your pick, LOL.

I have owned this one since Jan. 04, watching it triple, then fall back below my buy point, then once again more than double. It`s clearly been in an upsurge and I expect that to continue for the coming weeks.

This is clearly a story stock:

*It`s got three approved vaccines in early stages of sales growth in a market with awesome potential;

*It`s got what appears to be the full support of the Chinese govt. (though no one ever knows for sure in China);

*It`s got the most advanced SARS vaccine (completed Phase 1 clinical trials) and, although SARS is out of the spotlight at the moment, I`m sure it`s not gone;

*It`s got a Japanese Encephalitis vaccine about which I am just learning more;

*It`s got intl marketing in early stages, primarily aimed at other emerging markets, which seems promising since its vaccines are low-cost, yet high-quality; and

* It`s got a bird flu vaccine in pre-clinical stages. I`m not sure when it will enter the clinical phase, but it might be VERY soon. There is much debate over whether it will make kazillions from this or not (I am personally cautious), but it is clearly very much hyped and is the number one reason why investors are drawn to SVA now.

Finally, I believe it has excellent, quality, visionary leadership with a great business plan, but it cannot execute the plan overnight and it has hit some obstacles, including some involvement with unscrupulous `backers.` But, especially now, it seems in very good shape.

Why buy now as opposed to later? Despite my obvious caution and conservativism, I`d urge you to do your DD quickly and, if it appeals to you, buy this week. There is much pent-up news that may come out in the coming weeks or even days (e.g. updated sales figures, launching production of SVA`s (non-bird) flu vaccine production, and, perhaps, launching of bird flu clinical testing, among other possibilities) and a relatively new IR firm in which I have lots of confidence.

Sinovac mgmt. and IR are in NYC to present at the big UBS conference early on Monday morning (9/26); there`s a good possibility, though no guarantee, that news will be released then (the old IR firm really botched last year`s presentation). The news it released this past Monday was major enough as it is and, because SVA is not in the media glare, I think that this news will continue to cause ripples in the investor community for days to come.

...das liegt daran, dass in frankfurt praktisch kein umsatz stattfindet und darum der letzte festgestellte kurs zuweilen etwas weit weg vom aktuellen kurs in USA liegen kann, schau dir einfach mal die umsätze in frankfurt an: null volumen am freitag, wenn ich das recht gesehen habe. beim nächsten handel bzw. der nächsten preisfesstellung zuckelt der frankfurter kurs wieder näher am AMEX-kurs. im zweifelsfalle ordert man die aktie derzeit wohl praktischerweise einfach direkt via USA - ansonsten braucht man halt etwas geduld, bis hier mal etwas mehr angebot und nachfrage auf dem zettel stehen. wie wachholder ja anmerkt: das unternehmen wird gerade mal erst entdeckt.

Ich bin danach von dem Unternehmen noch mehr überzeugt als vorher. Die Zukunftsaussichten sind überwältigend.

Low cost spearheads China drive into biotech

LONDON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - China aims to become a leading player in the fast-growing biotechnology sector by capitalising on research costs that are one fifth those of Europe or the United States, a top official said on Monday.

In the past, the country`s drug industry has largely consisted of manufacturing cheap generics and producing traditional Chinese medicine.

Now the government is making biotechnology a priority, Professor Wang Hongguang, director general of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development, told a pharmaceutical conference in London.

The change is reflected in some startling figures. China already boasts more than 20 biotech parks dotted around the country and 500 biotech enterprises, he said.

Some 300 of these companies are focused on medicine, with the balance mainly targeting agriculture.

The Chinese government and local governments have both been active in supporting the sector, with total state funding last year reaching the equivalent of 270 million euros ($325 million).

The aim is to nurture home-grown enterprises and encourage inward investment from foreign companies.

It appears to be bearing fruit, with China currently having more than 150 experimental drugs in clinical trials and a handful of Chinese-developed biotech products already reaching the local market, including the world`s first licensed gene therapy treatment.


PATENT CONCERNS

Western drug makers remain concerned at the country`s reputation for weak patent protection, as highlighted by a decision of the State Intellectual Property Office in 2004 to overturn Pfizer Inc.`s (PFE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) Chinese patent on Viagra.

Overall, however, industry executives said enforcement of patents appeared to be improving, following China`s accession to the World Trade Organisation.

Regulation of drug quality has also been tightened, with the establishment in 2003 of the State Food and Drug Administration, modelled on the U.S. FDA.

Wang predicted a coming boom for Chinese biotech, driven by low costs and the scale of the Chinese market.

"The cost of biomedical research in China is only about 20 percent of the cost in Western countries," he told the conference, which was organised by the Financial Times.

Those cost advantages range from cheaper lab work -- with Chinese salaries just 10 percent of those in the West -- to lower costs for pre-clinical tests on animals and clinical tests on humans.

As a result, Wang said, the basic cost of developing a drug in China could be as little as 5 million euros -- a fraction of the $800 million or more that multinational drug firms say it costs them to bring products to market in the West.

So far, there are only a handful of successful Chinese biotech companies, such as vaccine specialist Sinovac Biotech (SVA.A: Quote, Profile, Research) and SiBiono Gene Technology.

But the emergence of a pipeline of new drugs suggests more could follow, increasing the incentive for Western companies to tap into the country`s science base.

Several major drug companies already have a research presence in the country, including Switzerland`s Roche Holding AG (ROG.VX: Quote, Profile, Research) and Novo Nordisk (NOVOb.CO: Quote, Profile, Research) , both of which have a strong focus in biotech.

Ist mir aber ganz recht, dass die Aktie hier nicht so stark diskutiert wird, lockt nur die Zocker an.

Die Aktie hat erhebliches Potential, ist aber im Moment stark überkauf. Ein Rücksetzer auf USD 5,2 wäre nicht schlecht, danach Richtung 10 USD.

Es können jeden Tag bahnbrechende News kommen, vielleicht will deshalb niemand raus..., mir solls recht sein.

Allerdings sollten wir uns darauf einstellen, dass er zwar - bedingt durch die SARS-Hysterie - zunächst olympische Höhen erreichen, bei erstem Nachlassen der Aufregung aber auch wieder dramatisch einbrechen wird...vielleicht sollte man rechtzeitig davor Teilgewinne mitnehmen, um später wieder günstig einzusteigen.

Beijing-Based Sinovac Gets Funding for Trials of Its Bird-Flu Vaccine, Panflu

NEW YORK (AP) -- Beijing-based vaccine developer Sinovac Biotech Ltd. said Friday it received 7 million yuan ($867,000) from China`s Ministry of Science and Technology for preclinical trials of its proprietary pandemic flu vaccine, Panflu.

Sinovac said it has received more than $1 million from the Chinese government since April 2004 to develop the bird flu vaccine. The company said the vaccine includes aluminum to boost immune response, which allows for smaller doses -- making it possible to produce more doses quickly and respond to a possible bird flu pandemic.

Sinovac`s shares rose 19 cents, or 3.8 percent, to $5.19 in morning trading on the American Stock Exchange.

Company sales were entirely comprised of Healive(TM), generating $2,699,000 in sales, corresponding to revenue growth of 18%. The growth was attributable to an increase of the number of salespersons and marketing activities. However, new regulations for vaccine distribution in China caused sales growth to be slower than the corresponding period in 2004. Management believes sales growth is accelerating as the market adapts to the new regulations.
Gross profit margin increased to 73.0% from 66.7% in the six months ended June 30, 2004. The increase in gross profit margin was due to economies of scale, which enables increased Healive(TM) production while decreasing the average cost per unit.

Sinovac CEO, Mr. Weidong Yin said, "Our performance in the first half of 2005 proves our ability to grow in spite of major changes in how we market and distribute our products. I am confident we have the right business strategy and balance between product pipeline, marketing and sales; we are now positioned for accelerated growth in 2006."

Selling, General and Administrative Expenses ("SG&A expenses") increased 18% to $2,201,000 due to increased marketing expenses for exploration of new markets and sales persons` bonuses for 2004. Marketing expenses included in the SG&A increased 104% to $1,071,000. Sinovac expects additional increases in SG&A to support continuing market penetration and brand awareness.

Research and Development Expenses reflect amounts spent on the split flu, pandemic influenza vaccine (avian flu vaccine for humans), and Japanese encephalitis vaccines. Total research and development expenses aggregated $216,000. The expenses associated with SARS vaccine development were funded by a government grant.

All 120 volunteers (aged 18 - 60 years) in the clinical trial were thoroughly evaluated and medically documented prior to entering the vaccination program. Jakarta - In Indonesien hat sich die Zahl der Todesfälle durch die Vogelgrippe auf 43 erhöht. Tests zufolge erlag ein 16-Jähriger dem aggressiven Virustyp H5N1, wie die Gesundheitsbehörden mitteilten.

Damit sind in Indonesien mehr Menschen an der Vogelgrippe gestorben als in jedem anderen Land. In Vietnam erlagen nach offiziellen Angaben bislang 42 Menschen der Seuche.

Dort gab es in diesem Jahr jedoch keine neuen Todesfälle, während in Indonesien bereits 32 bekannt wurden. Der 16-Jährige, der in den östlichen Außenbezirken der Hauptstadt Jakarta lebte, war nach Behördenangaben mit infizierten Hühnern in Kontakt gekommen.

Vogelgrippe fordert zwei Opfer in Großfamilie
Zwei Mitglieder einer ägyptischen Großfamilie, die Enten züchtet, sind an der Vogelgrippe gestorben. Zunächst starb gestern eine 30-jährige Frau, dann heute ein 15 Jahre altes Mädchen an dem H5N1-Virus. Seit Ausbruch der Vogelgrippe in Ägypten stieg damit die Zahl der Todesopfer auf neun.

Kairo - Das Mädchen war am 20. Dezember in ein Krankenhaus eingewiesen worden, wo die Krankheit diagnostiziert wurde, erklärte das Gesundheitsministerium nach Angaben der offiziellen Nachrichtenagentur MENA. Heute sei die 15-Jährige dann gestorben.

Erst am Sonntag war eine Frau der gleichen Familie wenige Stunden nach der Diagnose an der Vogelgrippe gestorben. Die Familie züchtet nach Angaben der Weltgesundheitsorganisation Enten. Das Mädchen habe die Enten geschlachtet, nachdem einige der Tiere gestorben waren.

Damit sind in Ägypten insgesamt neun Menschen an dem H5N1-Virus gestorben, seitdem das Virus im Februar bei ägyptischem Geflügel aufgetaucht war. Auch ein 26 Jahre alter Bruder des Mädchens soll infiziert sein.

Vogelgrippe in zwei Provinzen ausgebrochen
Erstmals seit mehr als einem Jahr ist bei Zuchtvögeln in Vietnam wieder das Vogelgrippe-Virus nachgewiesen worden. Veterinärärzte hatten zuvor mehr als 125 Millionen Tiere gegen die Seuche geimpft.

In den südlichen Provinzen Bac Lieu und Ca Mau im Mekong-Delta seien nach dem Tod Tausender Hühner sechs Proben positiv auf den Virusstamm H5 getestet worden, teilte das zuständige Institut für Tiergesundheit in der Region am Mittwoch mit. Bisher gebe es aber noch keinen Nachweis, ob es sich um das auch für den Menschen gefährliche H5N1-Virus handle, an dem seit Ende 2003 allein in Vietnam 42 Menschen gestorben sind.

Die Regierung in Hanoi hatte die im Land grassierende Vogelgrippe im vergangenen Jahr mit einem ausgedehnten Impfprogramm und Zuchtverboten unter Kontrolle gebracht. Mehr als 125 Millionen Hühner, Enten und anderes Geflügel wurden geimpft.

In Frankfurt? Ich werde nie verstehen, wie man eine Aktie nicht dort kauft, wo der Umsatz am stärksten ist. Wieso sollte ich in Frankfurt kaufen?

Nein - obwohl ich davon ausgehe, dass die Nachrichten gut sein werden, denn gute Nachrichten nimmt der Kurs oft vorweg. Der Grund, weshalb ich gekauft habe, ist ein anderer. Die Vogelgrippe ist zurück. Es gab wieder Meldungen über Fälle in England. Davor gab es natürlich auch schon Vorfälle - aber es interessiert keinen Aktionär, wenn in einem Dritte-Welt-Land die Vogelgrippe ausbricht. Europa ist etwas anderes.

Zudem ist bei SVA der Laaaaaanfristchart intakt. Und wir sind historisch auf tiefem Niveau.

Was spricht also gegen einen Kauf?

Zudem ist SVA auch von der Charttechnik her interessant. Die Widerstandsgrenze um 2.59$ wurde nun beim zweiten Anlauf deutlich genkacht. Unterstützt mit entsprechendem Volumen. Nach oben gibt es nun keine nennenswerten Widerstandsgrenzen mehr.

hallo notebook.
es kommt drauf an wie man sein geld anlegen will.
für einen kurzfist zock bestehen durchaus chancen wenn h5n1 wieder in der öffentlichkeit zum thema wird.
man sollte aber nicht davon ausgehen, dass es desshalb zwangsweise einen großen hype diverser h5n1 aktien gibt.
die öffentlichkeit ist diese thema mittlerweile genauso gewohnt, wie den terrorismus seit 9/11.

dagegen spricht eindeutig ein langfrist investment.
schau dir nur mal die charts der kandidaten genau an.

auch könnte ich vom volumen her bis jetzt keine besonderheit erkennen die auf einen bevorstehenden hype deuten (AMEX)

Der Langfristchart ist intakt!

H5N1 ist eine reale Bedrohung. Die Frage ist wann und nicht ob! Man könnte zudem auch das Argument der selbsterfüllenden Prophezeiung anfügen. Die Anleger wissen nun, dass man mit "Vogelgrippeaktien" Geld machen kann, also werden sich die Anleger wieder auf die Aktien stürzen! Die Vogelgrippe war ja letztes Jahr auch nicht das erste Mal ein Thema!

Bist du blind? Liess die Kommentare in den Forums. Zudem liegt Europa wieder vorne!

Ich stimme dir aber zu, was das Lanfristinvestment angeht. Ich habe auch nicht vor, die Aktie über Jahre zu halten. Aber ein paar Monate schon. Gegen ein Langfristinvestment spricht auch, dass die Firma ziemlich undurchsichtig ist. Dies meine ich nicht unbedingt im negativen Sinne. Aber Sinovac ist eine chinesische Firma und ist daher für Aussenstehende schwer einschätzbar. Vieles unterliegt staatlichen Kontrollen!

Chancen-Risiko-Verhältnis aber in meinen Augen für die nächsten Monate sehr gut.

Falls du mit "kandidaten" Vogelgrippeaktien im Allgemeinen meinst, so ist Sinovac einer der weniger spekulativen Werte. Sinovac hat noch andere Produkte in der Pipeline. Wenns also nichts wird mit der Vogelgrippe, so wird der Kurs vom aktuellen Niveau nicht in den Keller sausen, wie das vielleicht bei reinen Vogelgrippeaktien der Fall ist.

Nach Möglichkeit versuche ich immer dann einzusteigen, wenn noch kein Hype entstanden ist. Ich hoffe doch sehr, dass der Hype noch nicht eingesetzt hat.

Fall es keine Meldungen zur Vogelgrippe mehr geben sollte, wird auch kein Hype einsetzen. Dann hat man aber vom aktuellen Niveau aus nicht viel zu verlieren.

Meinst du im Hinblick auf die Konferenz? Ist doch nur ne Power-Point-Präsentation. Zudem alle Zahlen "unaudited". Sieht ganz ok aus nach dem rasanten Kursanstieg.

Ich verstehe sowieso nicht, wie man sich darum bemühen kann, solche Dinge bei einer Firma wie SVA zu analysieren. China ist dermassen undurchsichtig und bei SVA mischt ja die chinesische Regierung mit. Dann noch "unaudited figures". Ist mir ziemlich wurscht was da drin steht. Was zählt ist der Chart und die Flugrichtung der Vögel.

Eigentlich hatte ich mir ja geschworen, diese Aktie zu meiden, konnte bei dem erneuten Ausbruch von H5N1 in GB aber auch nicht widerstehen!

Die Situation erinnert mich schwer an Januar 2006, als Sinovac ganz passable Zahlen für die ersten 6 Monate von 2005 bekanntgab. Bitterer Beigeschmack waren allerdings dicke Bonuszahlungen für das Geschäftsjahr 2004, so dass die Aktie widermal abschmierte.
Auf der Seite von Sinovac konnte ich außer dem üblichen Blabla mal wider nichts greifbares sehen, leider auch nichts zu Phase 2 -Ergebnissen, nachdem bei Phase 1 letztlich jeder Furz kommentiert wurde!

"Unaudited" könnte mal wieder heissen, dass in den präsentierten Zahlen die Bonuszahlungen nicht berücksichtigt sind - allerdings ist das nur eine Vermutung meinerseits, da ich mich mit den juristisch richtigen Termini nicht besonders gut auskenne.

Abwarten. Nachbörslich ist der Kurs ja schon wieder bei 2.7$! Auch die postings bei yahoo sind wieder positiv.

Gestern haben einige bei yahoo den Aktienkurs gedrückt, nachdem die Präsentation veröffentlich wurde: "SVA IS A PUMP & DUMP SCAM. It's a collection of Chinese Communists stealing money from American investors with the help of idiot stooges."

Wenn man die Volumen anschaut, so sehe ich keinen Hinweis, dass etwas ernsthaft nichte stimmen würde. Erstens ist die Aktie im Vorfeld gestiegen und zweitens ist der Kurs nach Veröffentlichung der Präsentation sogar gestiegen. Dann kam ne Welle von unsinnigen postings bei yahoo und das Ding ist unter normalen Volumen eingebrochen. Ich denke viele verstehen die Präsentation nicht und lesen dann einfach die Kommentare bei yahoo und lassen sich so beeinflussen.

Anbei der gestriege Kursverlauf. Konferenz war um 12:30. Wenn die starken Hände aus einer Aktie raus gehen, sieht das anders aus. Dann steigt das Volumen gleich von Beginn an ungewöhnlich stark und alle fragen sich was los ist. Das war hier nicht der Fall.

Kurz vor Schluss hat dann noch jemand zugegriffen und nachbörslich stehen wir bei 2.7$.

Unaudited bedeutet, dass kein Revisor bzw. keine externe Firma die Zahlen geprüft hat. Deswegen ist SVA auch ein Zock - weil es meiner Meinung nach unmöglich ist, ohne Insiderinfos die Firma zu beurteilen.

Das kannst du vergessen. An einer öffentlichen Konferenz werden nie nennenswerte Infos genannt. Sonst könnten ja die Kleinanleger Geld verdienen und das ist nicht der Sinn einer solchen Aktie.

Vogelgrippe: Teststudie für Impfstoff angelaufen

Schwerin (ddp). Ein Jahr nach dem Ausbruch der Vogelgrippe in Deutschland ist die Wissenschaft bei deren Bekämpfung offenbar einen Schritt vorangekommen. Bundesweit wird seit Anfang Februar in acht Forschungszentren ein neuer Impfstoff an 504 Probanden im Alter von 18 bis 60 Jahren getestet. Die Aufsicht für die Studie, die in anderthalb Jahren abgeschlossen sein soll, hat das Studienzentrum «Klinische Forschung Schwerin». «Die Vogelgrippe ist ein offenes Problem, das man lösen muss», sagt deren Leiter Hanns-Gerd Dammann. Er koordiniert bei der bundesweiten Studie die klinische Prüfung und überwacht die Daten. Die Zeit dränge, betont Dammann. Die Vogelgrippe sei hauptsächlich noch eine Tierseuche. Übertragungen von Mensch zu Mensch seien zwar bereits beobachtet worden. Das seien aber bisher lokal begrenzte Ausnahmefälle gewesen. Bisher hätten sich weltweit verhältnismäßig wenig Menschen bei infizierten Vögeln angesteckt. Sollte das Virus allerdings weiter mutieren, könnte es zu einer Pandemie kommen. Nach Angaben der Weltgesundheitsorganisation WHO wurden weltweit bislang 271 Vogelgrippe-Fälle beim Menschen registriert. 165 Patienten starben an der Krankheit. Der neue Impfstoff gegen die Vogelgrippe wurde von dem englischen Pharmaunternehmen GlaxoSmithKline mit einer Niederlassung in München entwickelt, das auch Auftraggeber der Studie ist und seit 1998 an einem Pandemie-Schutz arbeitet. Weltweit forschen nach Angaben der International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) mit Sitz in Genf rund 20 Pharmaunternehmen auf diesem Gebiet. Bisher sei noch kein Impfstoff zugelassen worden, sagt eine Sprecherin der European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA) in London. Die EMEA erteilt die Freigabe für neue Medikamente in Europa. GlaxoSmithKline habe ein Zulassungsverfahren für einen Pandemie-Impfstoff bei der EMEA beantragt, sagt Unternehmenssprecher Florian Martius. «Wir waren damit der erste Antragssteller.» Durch den Impfstoff sollen die Menschen einen ersten Grundschutz erhalten. Das bedeute, dass im Ernstfall ein Teil der Menschen gar nicht erkranke und bei einem Teil der Infizierten die Krankheit in abgeschwächter Form ausbreche. «Die gefährliche Variante des H5N1-Erregers ist schließlich erst bekannt, wenn die Pandemie ausgebrochen ist», erläutert Martius. Das Besondere an dem Impfstoff sei, dass durch einen neuen Zusatzstoff geringe Mengen von Antigenen ausreichten. Antigene sind Bestandteile des Virus, auf die das Immunsystem des Menschen reagiert. Im Falle einer Pandemie könne das ein entscheidender Vorteil sein, weil so mehr Impfstoff produziert werden könne. Für den neuen Impfstoff wurde aus einem H5N1-Erreger ein Totimpfstoff entwickelt. Der abgetötete Erreger kann sich im Körper nicht vermehren, löst aber dennoch eine Abwehrreaktion des Immunsystems aus. Dadurch, dass ein H5N1-Virus Basis für den Impfstoff ist, könne das Immunsystem auf einen verwandten Pandemie-Erreger womöglich reagieren, erläutert Martius. In einer Vorläuferstudie in Belgien im Frühsommer 2006 wurde der Impfstoff bereits an 400 Probanden im Alter von 18 bis 60 Jahren getestet. Bei 80 Prozent der Geimpften wurde eine Abwehrreaktion des Körpers festgestellt. Die neue Studie soll die damaligen Testergebnisse bestätigen. Zudem solle unter anderem die Frage beantworten werden, in welchem zeitlichen Abstand geimpft werden muss, erläutert Dammann.

bei sinovac gibt es wenig nachrichten zu neuen impstoffen.seitdem der investor ruth group investiert ist bewegt sich der kurs kaum noch.ich glaube aber, dass bald etwas kommen wird und dann schießt der kurs durch die decke.

Bin soweit sehr zufrieden. Hab mein Depot inzwischen tip top umgestellt. Verlust auf einer spekulativen Position sofort realisiert. Damit hab ich nun bei SVA nachgekauft.

phillip morris habe ich schon mal gehabt.habe sie vor einigen jahren bei 20 euro gekauft und bei 48 euro verkauft.altria bleibt interessant wegen der zerschlagung,die bevorsteht.habe momentan eine pfizer im depot.die pfizer ist ein langzeitinvestment.

RHI AG ist auch interessant oder Wolford. Sofern natürlich die Börsen steigen und nicht weiter fallen. Beides Werte aus dem ATX. Der lief ja bisher am besten. Sogar besser als der Tech Dax!!!! Das scheinen einige in Deutschland zu übersehen. Die Party läuft in Österreich!

Hab mir grad den Chart von Pfizer angesehen. Hält sich gut. Aber Altria hat noch weniger abbekommen. Altria stand kurz vor dem Ausbruch nach oben - dann kam der Mini-Crash.

durch die geringe marktkapitalisierung von sinovac ca 60 mio euro.sind hier große kurssprünge zu erwarten.bei sinovac muss man einfach dranbleiben.pfizer zahlt eine superdividende von 0,81 euro
pro aktie.das kgv liegt bei 10 die lipidorverluste sind im kurs eingepreißt.außerdem hat pfizer ca.250 neue medikamente in der pipeline.pharma- und bioaktien,dass sind die renner der zukunft.

SVA: In USA 117 Mio Marktkapitalisierung.
Durchschnittliches Volumen der letzten 200 Tage ist 231'900.
Durchschnittliches Volumen der letzten 50 Tage ist 268'300.

Ich finde den Titel nicht sehr markteng. 100'000 würde ich vielleicht auch nicht investieren. Aber ich finde man kann hier rein von den Volumen her schon auch mit einem grösseren Betrag rein.

Ein Penny-Stock ist SVA sicher nicht.

Um ehrlich zu sein halte ich bei SVA einen solchen Rücksetzer für unwahrscheinlich. Ausser der Gesamtmarkt korrigiert nochmals heftig. Dann wären wir aber dann in einem Bärenmarkt, was ich im Moment nicht glaube. Schau dir beispielsweise den Tech-Dax an. Die Techwerte sind sensibler als die anderen Aktien, da es Hoffnungsträger sind. Der Tech-Dax hat sich ganz schön erholt. Der Nasdaq legt zwar kein Kursfeuerwerk hin, tendiert aber seitwärts.

Fazit: Ich könnte mir gut vorstellen, dass wir das Gröbste der Korrektur hinter uns haben. Somit stimmt dann auch das Umfeld für SVA.

Bei SVA stehen zwei News auf dem Programm. Eine Meldung kommt noch im März. Die nächste Meldung betreffend Zahlen kommt im April. Ich bin daher bis Ende April bullish gestimmt.

Ab dem Sommer werde ich überhaupt keine Aktien mehr halten und warten, bis eine grössere Korrektur einsetzt.

Sogar beim Mini-Crash vor zwei Wochen war das Tief bei 2.79$! Und das nur ganz kurz. Am gleichen Tag noch wurde kräftig nachgekauft. Schau dir den Money-Flow an.

Wenn keine grössere Korrektur auf den Weltmärkten einsetzt, werden wir diese Woche noch die 4$ sehen. (Das sagt mir mein Bauchgefühl).

Werd mir die Aktie mal anschauen. Bei SVA bin ich seit einiger Zeit draussen. Chart hält sich aber erstaunlich gut. Gab einige interessante Meldungen. Allerdings bin ich bei solchen Werten immer vorsichtig.

Bei yahoo-messages habe ich den Eindruck, dass dort eine einzige Person unter mehreren Anmeldungen postet. Unglaublich das Gepushe. Das macht dann doch misstrauisch.

Mr. Weidong Yin, Chairman, President and CEO, commented, "I am pleased to announce that we had a record first six months of 2007. Our strong growth in sales has translated into profitability as we generated a net income of $US3.5 million. This marks an extremely important transition in our development as a publicly listed Company. Our sales organization was able to successfully maintain the market leading position for our flagship product Healive, the inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine, and capitalize on the phasing-out of the largest competing product and the increased usage of our lower cost vial packaging. We are continuing to raise awareness of vaccination benefits and are well positioned to continue to expand sales by further penetrating our current market and targeting nascent markets in less developed regions across China. We recently announced a promotion agreement with GSK China and have started planning for the official launch of Anflu, our split influenza vaccine, which, through this agreement, should provide us with opportunities to more effectively reach both the adult and pediatric population. On the R&D front, with the completion of enrollment and preparations at the end of July, we are on track to start to vaccinate volunteers who are enrolled in the clinical trials for the H5N1 vaccines. Financial Results

For the first six months of 2007, sales increased 189% to $13.5 million from $4.7 million for the same period of 2006. The sales growth in the first half of 2007 was primarily attributable to increased sales of Healive, Sinovac's inactivated hepatitis A vaccine, spurred by the positive market response to the government purchasing program for vaccines that significantly raised awareness of the benefits of vaccination, as well as the phasing out of largest competing products, the liquid attenuated Hepatitis A vaccines.

Gross profit for first six months of 2007 was $11.6 million with a gross margin of 85.7%, compared to gross profit for the same period of 2006 of $3.7 million with a gross margin of 79.9%. The gross profit increased in line with sales growth and was attributable in part to the greater economies of scale from increased production and lower average unit costs. Sinovac has the capability to produce the vial package at a lower unit cost than the pre- filled syringe package previously used and generate more sales from vial packaged products.

Total operating expenses for the first six months of 2007 increased 24% to $5.4 million, from $4.4 million in the same period of 2006. Selling, general and administrative expenses for first half of 2007 were $4.7 million, representing an increase of 18% from $4.0 million in the same period of 2006. The year-over-year change in operating expenses was attributable primarily to increased selling expenses and operating expenses, primarily professional fees, associated with being a public company, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance. These operating expenses were partially offset by the reduction of compensation-related tax expense on the exercise of stock options to nil and lower stock-based compensation expense of $139,000.

Research and development expenses for the first six months of 2007 were $390,000, compared to $94,000 in the same period of 2006. The R&D expenses were partially offset by research grants received from the PRC government, recognized as $408,000 and $554,000 in research grant income in the first half of 2007 and 2006, respectively.

Operating income was $6.1 million in first half 2007, compared to an operating loss of $660,000 in the same period of 2006. The year-over-year increase in operating income was attributable in part to the significant increase in sales and the moderately higher operating expenses.

Net income for the first six months of 2007 was $3.5 million, or $0.09 per diluted share, compared to a net loss for first six months of 2006 of $970,000, or $0.03 per diluted share. Net income for the first six months of 2007 included $179,000 of interest and financing expenses, $1.2 million of income taxes, and $1.6 million in minority interest

As of June 30, 2007, Sinovac's cash and cash equivalents totalled $9.3 million, compared to $9.2 million as of December 31, 2006.

Sales and Marketing

During the first six months of 2007, Sinovac generated sales mainly from Healive. Approximately 2.45 million doses of Healive were sold in the first half of 2007, which resulted in approximately $13.5 million in sales. The most recent statistics from China SFDA from the end of first half of 2007 confirm that Healive represented approximately 56% of total inactivated hepatitis A vaccine released by SFDA and 26% of the total hepatitis A vaccines. This metric confirms Sinovac's position as the largest hepatitis A vaccine supplier in China.

Exclusive Promotion Agreement with GSK China

In August 2007, Sinovac entered into an Exclusive Promotion Service Agreement with GlaxoSmithKline (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (or "GSK China") to market and promote Anflu®, a seasonal influenza vaccine developed and manufactured by Sinovac. GSK China's sales team will focus on the distribution of the adult dosage formulation and Sinovac will sell the pediatric dosage formulation. The agreement should allow Anflu to more rapidly penetrate the market.

Product Pipeline

In April 2007, Sinovac received approval from the SFDA to commence Phase II clinical trials of Panflu(TM), its vaccine against H5N1 strain of pandemic influenza. The SFDA approval covers the Phase Ib and II trials of whole viron vaccine and the Phase I and II trials of split vaccine. Subsequent to these approvals, the preparation work was completed by the end of July 2007.

In August 2007, Sinovac commenced vaccination of volunteers for the clinical research on Pandemic Influenza Vaccine (H5N1), which includes the continued research for Phase I clinical trial of whole viron H5N1 vaccine and the beginning of Phase I clinical trial of split H5N1 vaccine. Full Repayment of Outstanding Obligations

In July 2007, Sinovac received full payment of Heping Wang's outstanding obligations. Zu deiner Frage:

Hier war schon mal ´ne ganze Menge los!! Nur haben viele - anfangs "Euphorische" diesem Wert den Rücken gekehrt! Nachdem das Thema "Vogelgrippe" langsam bei uns in Vergessenheit geraten ist, wird SINOVAC immer mehr aus dem Fokus der "einstmals Begeisterten" verschwinden!

Und wenn man ehrlich ist - die hoch angesetzten Erwartungen wurden auch nicht erfüllt!..........

Wenn die Testphase II positiv verläuft, kommt noch eine zur Zulassung des Impfstoffes erforderliche Phase III - bei der der Impfstoff einigen Tausend Personen verabreicht wird!
Ist auch diese positiv, wäre SINOVAC weltweit die erste Firma, die einen wirksamen Impfstoff gegen den H5N1 Virus (gegen die Vogelgrippe) zur verfügung hätte.........

Das Kursziel nach oben wäre dann offen! Eine "Verzehnfachung" wäre
m.E. relativ kurzfristig wahrscheinlich!

Ansteckung von Mensch zu Mensch?
Erschienen am 08. Dezember 2007In China ist ein Mann wenige Tage nach seinem Sohn an der Vogelgrippe gestorben. Der 52-Jährige aus der ostchinesischen Provinz Jiangsu habe sich ebenfalls mit dem Virus H5N1 infiziert, berichtete die Zeitung "Shanghai Daily" am Samstag. Dies habe das Gesundheitsministerium bestätigt. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation WHO prüft derzeit, ob es sich um eine Ansteckung von Mensch zu Mensch handelt. Sollte sich der Verdacht bestätigen, wäre es der weltweit vierte derartige Fall. Bisher seien drei Fälle aus Vietnam, Kambodscha und Indonesien dokumentiert, hieß es bei der WHO.

"Genau beobachten"
Der 24-jährige Sohn des Mannes aus der Stadt Nanjing war am vergangenen Sonntag gestorben. "Da die Möglichkeit einer Ansteckung von Mensch zu Mensch nicht ausgeschlossen werden kann, werden wir diesen Fall genau beobachten", zitierte die Zeitung die Pekinger WHO-Sprecherin Joanna Brent. Bislang gebe es aber keine Hinweise darauf, dass sich das Virus verändert habe und nun leichter übertragbar sei. Im unmittelbaren Umfeld des jüngsten Opfers und seines Vaters seien bei Untersuchungen keine weiteren Ansteckungen festgestellt worden.

Mutation befürchtet
Bislang gilt H5N1 nur bei sehr engem Kontakt als von Mensch zu Mensch übertragbar. Mediziner fürchten aber, dass eine Mutation des aggressiven Erregers eine weltweite Epidemie unter Menschen auslösen könnte.

Keine Hinweise
Bei dem Verstorbenen und seinem nun ebenfalls erkrankten Vater gebe es keine Hinweise auf Kontakt zu erkranktem Geflügel, hieß es weiter. Es sei aber nicht ausgeschlossen, dass sich Vater und Sohn beim selben erkrankten Tier oder auch bei zwei unterschiedlichen infizierten Vögeln angesteckt haben.

Erste Symptome am Montag
Nach Angaben staatlicher Medien hatten sich bei dem 52-Jährigen am Montag erste Symptome gezeigt, Mitte der Woche sei die Infektion mit H5N1 bestätigt worden. Sein Sohn war das 17. Opfer der Vogelgrippe in China. Das Land hat seit 2003 insgesamt 27 Fälle bei Menschen gemeldet. Weltweit wurden von der WHO mehr als 330 H5N1-Infektionen bei Menschen registriert, knapp zwei Drittel der Patienten starben

Sinovac's Vaccines on a Roll

The news flow from Sinovac Biotech Ltd. (SVA) was very positive last week. In addition to announcing that one of its vaccines was added to the list of approved vaccines in Beijing, the company released a much-improved financial report for its Q3.

Healive, a hepatitis A vaccine, was chosen by the Beijing Medicine Bidding Center as one of two inactivated hepatitis A vaccines in pre-filled syringes for its hepatitis A vaccination program. The Healive nod allows purchases of the vaccine for 2007 through 2009 in Beijing. Sinovac did not venture a guess on the effect of the selection on Healive revenues. In general, China has made a commitment to include hepatitis A vaccines in its national immunization program, and the designation of Healive as an approved vaccination was part of that program.

In October, Sinovac announced that Anflu, its flu vaccine, was also put on the Beijing list of approved drugs. By becoming part of the official list, it was available free of charge to people over sixty, while students paid 20 RMB ($3).

The announcement that Healive was added to the Beijing formulary came close on the heels of Sinovac’s Q3 financial report, which showed the fortunes of Sinovac to be very much on the upswing. Total sales jumped 141% from the year-earlier period, rising from $4.5 million in 2006 to $10.8 million this year. Gross profit was up a very large 266% to $9.2 million (an 85% margin) and net income climbed to $2.2 million (good for a 20% margin), a 23-fold jump from the $93,000 recorded in 2006.

Of particular interest, Sinovac moved $2.3 million of Anflu, its flu vaccine, off the shelves in Q3 after signing a co-promotion agreement with GSK China (GSK) for the vaccine. That number represents 22% of all sales for the quarter. In previous years, Anflu generated almost no revenues, though Sinovac can claim some responsibility for the sudden interest in the vaccine: the company said it spent $1 million in promoting Anflu in the last quarter.

In addition to Anflu, Healive, long the mainstay of the company’s offerings, also performed well. Separate results for Healive were not broken out, though the company said it doubled the number of doses of Healive sold by moving into previously unpenetrated territories. Also, at the end of 2006, China’s government took a competitor off the market -- a liquid attenuated hepatitis A vaccine. An increase in the production capacity of Healive was completed in October 2007.

The company’s other product is Bilive, a combined vaccine for hepatitis A and B. It remains a slow seller.

Sinovac recorded total operating expenses of $5.1 million in Q3, up from $2.0 million in the same period of 2006. Research and development costs were a relatively small figure of just $255,000, and the government underwrote $34,000 of that, bringing the net figure down to $221,000.

The net income of $2.2 million works out to 5 cents per fully diluted share. In the first nine months of 2007, Sinovac made a profit of $5.7 million, though gains in currency added another $800,000 to bring the total to $6.5 million. Last year (before currency gains), the company had a loss of almost $900,000. Clearly, by increasing its sales from $9 million first nine months of 2006 to $24 million in 2007, the company has accomplished a remarkable financial turnaround.

Sinovac currently has a market capitalization of $170 million (40 million shares outstanding; a price of $4.22 per share). If it can continue producing revenues at the same rate (and it should – the second half of the year is better for the vaccine business), Sinovac is on track to book above $32 million in revenues this year. That puts its valuation at 5.3 times revenues and 23 times expected earnings. That’s fairly cheap for a company growing at this rate. At the end of the third quarter, Sinovac had $9.7 million in cash, slightly above the $9.2 million the company held at the end of 2006.

In September, Sinovac began Phase II tests of Panflu, its vaccine for pandemic flu. The trials cover Phase I and II trials of the whole viron vaccine and of the split vaccine. Sinovac hopes to release preliminary data from the trials in Q1 of 2008.

(Amex: SVA - News), a leading provider of vaccines in China, today announced positive top-line results of completed Phase II clinical trial of its pandemic influenza (H5N1) whole viron inactivated vaccine. The stratified, randomzed, double-blind trial of the vaccine was designed to assess the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine.

Sinovac received approval from the China State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) in April 2007 to conduct Phase Ib and II trials of the H5N1 whole viron vaccine and Phase I and Phase II trials of the H5N1 split vaccine.

The Phase II trial of the H5N1 whole viron inactivated vaccine was conducted by Beijing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It included 402 volunteers, between the ages of 18 and 60, who were each vaccinated with two doses of 5 ug, 10 ug or 15 ug. The preliminary results of the trials suggested that each of the three dosages can induce varying degrees of immune response. In particular, the anti-HI seroconversion rate, the increasing GMT and protection rate of the H5N1 whole viron inactivated vaccines for the 10ug and 15ug dosages reached the EMEA evaluation standards of seasonal flu vaccines, which is an indication of good immunogenicity of the vaccine. The trial result did not show any serious adverse reaction among volunteers, suggesting the vaccine's good safety profile.
In addition, Sinovac recently completed the phase I clinical trial of the split H5N1 vaccine. The result of vaccinations on children, adults and elderly with candidate vaccines of different dosage indicated that the split H5N1 vaccine is safe for human use.

hi asics01!

das auf und ab bei sinovac kenne ich schon zu genüge, denn ich bin schon seit sommer 2005 in diesem wert investiert, und habe diesen wert auch schon 2x getradet, und auch ordentlich geld dabei verdient. (leider halt nur in dollar). eine sehr volatile aktie muß ich schon sagen, wie es halt bei bio-tec aktien so ist. doch mitlerweile habe ich mich in diesem wert festgesetzt, in der hoffnung, daß dieses medikament vaccine ein renner für sinovac wird.
die zeichen stehen dafür sehr gut.
danke für die promten informationen die du immer in diesen thread stellts, und ich wünsche allen hier für die zukunft eine grüne sinovac, und ein zufriedenes 2008!

Ägypterin stirbt an der Vogelgrippe
Erschienen am 31. Dezember 2007In Ägypten ist eine 25 Jahre alte Frau an der Vogelgrippe gestorben. Wie das Gesundheitsministerium am Sonntag in Kairo mitteilte, stieg die Zahl der Todesopfer aufgrund des H5N1-Virus in dem arabischen Land damit auf 17. Die junge Frau sei in einem Krankenhaus in der Provinz Mansura gestorben, in das sie am 27. Dezember mit hohem Fieber und Atemnot eingeliefert worden war. Sie sei vermutlich zu Hause mit infiziertem Geflügel in Kontakt gekommen, sagte der Ministeriumssprecher Abdel Rahman Schahin nach einer Meldung der Nachrichtenagentur Mena. Es ist der zweite Todesfall wegen Vogelgrippe im Dezember.

Mutation des Erregers droht
Ägypten gehört zu den Ländern, die weltweit am meisten von der gefährlichen Viruserkrankung betroffen sind. Die meisten Todesopfer gab es bislang in Indonesien (94), Vietnam (46), Thailand und China (beide 17). Die Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation (FAO) der UNO hatte Ende Juni internationale Fortschritte im Kampf gegen die Vogelgrippe verzeichnet, die Lage in Ägypten und Indonesien jedoch weiterhin als gefährlich bezeichnet. Dort drohe weiterhin die Mutation des Virus zu einem Erreger, der von Mensch zu Mensch übertragbar sei.
