so what ...
http://www.forex-goodies.com/tradingrules02.shtml

Like a Phoenix from Arizona
Then there is First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR), a poster child for responsible investing gone wrong. It wasn't just the bankruptcy of Solyndra that knelt a death knell to solar stocks, but a more rational bear premise that solar has to be cheaper than coal and natural gas to catalyze mass adoption. For more about grid parity click here

Until very recently First Solar had suffered under this thesis, but then they bought the 50 megawatt AC Macho Springs Solar project in New Mexico that makes
http://inhabitat.com/thin-film-solar-power-to-be-sold-for-le…
Due for a 2014 completion the photovoltaic project can power 18,000 homes. Even better the cost will be 5.8 cents per kwh compared to the usual 16.3 cents per kwh for solar thin films generally.
Tempe, AZ based First Solar may finally be the phoenix rising from the solar ashes as it's now the number 2 photovoltaic module supplier after rival Chinese company Yingli Green Energy (NYSE: YGE)

Why Solar Stocks Jumped Today
Quelle: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/02/11/why-solar-s…
"What: Across the board solar stocks were up today, most notably SunPower (NASDAQ: SPWR ) , which is up 14%.
So what: GTM Research, one of the leading solar research firms, released a report on the U.S. residential solar financing industry and predicts it will grow from $1.2 billion last year to $5.7 billion in 2016. There was also a report in the Financial Times that suggested that the industry may be close to creating bonds that cluster small installations into securities and generate cash flow from the electricity generated.
Now what: Neither of these items is really earth-shattering, but they show just how wildly the market can react on news it should have seen coming. SunPower, SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY ) , and other installers have bundled and sold small residential and commercial projects for years, so bonds are the next step for these companies. First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR ) has been selling entire projects, although it could see a small benefit from the lower cost bonds would bring.
I see this as another step forward for the industry, and it's another example why long-term investors need to stay invested or risk missing days like this. Bonds are inevitable, and so are structures like REITs or MLPs, and on random days when rumors emerge about these structures, stocks pop. I'm a long-term bull for solar, and I think SunPower is the best pick, followed by First Solar, and investors should stay long despite the roller coaster the stocks can find themselves on from time to time. I think both move higher as positive news emerges from the industry week after week.
A deep look into First Solar
Investors and bystanders alike have been shocked by First Solar's precipitous drop over the past 12 months, and now the stakes have never been higher for the company. Is it done for good, or ready for a rebound? "

SPWR Soars 19%, Solar Names Rally on Polysilicon Cuts
"Shares of solar energy technology makers soared today as word of tight polysilicon supply brightened an outlook for the companies, including SunPower (SPWR), up $1.51, or 19%, at $9.44, and First Solar (FSLR), up $1.96, or almost 7%, at $32.36.
Credit Suisse‘s Satya Kumar today wrote that prices for polysilicon, a basic building block of solar panel modules, are “at a trough,” as Germany’s Wacker Chemie AG and Hemlock Semiconductor, a division of Dow Corning, lowered polysilicon production last quarter, and Hemlock forecast production to drop again this quarter.
First Solar’s thin-film cadmium telluride modules don’t really fit with the polysilicon theme, but have obviously been caught up with the general enthusiasm for improving industry economics.
Kumar opines a major obstacle for solar stocks has been removed, as Corning and others restructure their polysilicon production to deal with a collapse in sales:
Corning revealed Hemlock’s financials for the first time, revealing a steep drop in 2012 poly revenue and earnings y/y to explain the need for restructuring. These tier 1 poly production cuts lend credence to our view that after years of pricing declines, now finally poly and panel pricing have bottomed for the solar industry. A flat pricing has diminished the “second derivative” negative for solar stocks. Positives for solar stocks are: (i) stable pricing leading to gradual demand recovery in new geographies; (ii) policy driven positives in China (potential for 8+GW of demand in 2012); and in the US possibility of solar qualification for MLP/REIT structures (though our checks are mixed on this); (iii) relative stability allows some companies to potentially surprise on the upside through execution (e.g., JinkoSolar Holding (JKS) and Canadian Solar (CSIQ) downstream EPC activities could positively surprise investors in 2Q13; SCTY & WFR could benefit from the US market).
Opines Kumar, the next things that need to happen to help the stocks are that “excess panel capacity in China needs to be permanently retired,” Hemlock and Wacker need to resolve the matter of oustanding “take or pay” contracts with customers, and the market needs to see whether Europe imposes tariffs on China-based solar providers.
Kumar says his preference in solar is for polysilicon producer MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) and SolarCity (SCTY). SolarCity shares today rose $1.54, or 10%, to close at $16.67, while WFR stock was unchanged at $4.48.
The group has notched impressive gains this year, with SunPower up 68%, Canadian Solar up 44%, and Solar City up almost 40%. First Solar has notched a more modest 5% gain."...
