Mal schauen was hier noch kommt.

Macht was draus :-))

Jeoch liegt nicht alles in Südafrika

      PGM-Metall-Produzent Sibanye-Stillwater
Stillwater mine, including the Blitz section, is located near the town of Nye. East Boulder Mine is located near the town of McLeod. Both are shallow to intermediate level underground PGM mines. PGM production commenced in 1986 and has largely been uninterrupted.

      Das ist in Montana USA

      Unter US gibt es noch
Marathon is a PGM-copper property in northern Ontario, Canada, adjacent to Lake Superior.

Lonmin mines and refines five PGMs: platinum (Pt), palladium Pd), rhodium (Rh), ruthenium (Ru) and iridium (Ir).

hrough joint ventures with Vale and Wallbridge, Lonmin's international exploration focuses mainly on PGM mineralisation in the Sudbury Basin in Ontario, Canada, where a pre-feasibility study on an open pit has been completed and work is continuing to seek out additional resources.

Lonmin’s interest in Furuya is 5.51%. Furuya is a Japanese specialist fabricator of PGMs, giving us a unique insight into leading edge developments in the uses and applications of PGMs. Furuya listed on Jasdaq in 2006.

Sibanye Closes Shafts to Curb South African Gold Losses
      5.6.
      https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-05/sibanye-f…

      =>
      ...
      • Sibanye Gold Ltd. has finalized plans announced in February to restructure its South African gold mines that will include closing unprofitable shafts and cutting about 3,450 jobs.

      • The company also issued its first gold-production forecast for the second half of this year -- at 514,000 to 546,000 ounces -- after restarting the operations following a five-month strike. Normalized production levels will be reached early in the third quarter.

      • Sibanye’s gold and platinum-group-metal businesses have been heading in opposite directions, as PGM operations benefited from rising prices, while the gold mines -- like others in South Africa -- struggled with high costs even before the recent wage strike.

      • The restructuring plan, which was includes closing the Driefontein 6 and 7 shafts and Beatrix 2 plant and putting two other shafts on care and maintenance, will reinforce Sibanye’s shift toward PGM production. The company has become the world’s biggest platinum miner after securing shareholder approval to buy Lonmin Plc. It’s also preparing for platinum-wage negotiations this year in South Africa.

      • Sibanye also issued forecasts for expenses this year. In the second half, so-called all-in sustaining costs are seen at $1,350 to $1,450 per ounce, above the current spot gold price. The figures will be temporarily inflated by higher than normal capital spending and restructuring expenses, the company said.

      ...

      • The company has reduced the number of jobs it’s cutting as part of efforts to reduce gold-mining losses, after saying in February that 5,870 of employees and 800 contractors could be affected. Early retirement, voluntary exits and natural attrition mean that only about 800 employees and 550 contractors were fired.

Sibanye Keeps Option to Increase Lonmin Offer Against Rival Bid
      20. Mai 2019

-- Shareholder scrutiny of deal intensifies as Lonmin rebounds
-- Acquisition is key to strategy of Sibanye CEO Neal Froneman

Sibanye Gold Ltd. reiterated that its increased offer for Lonmin Plc is final, but kept its option open to sweeten the deal for the platinum producer should a rival bid emerge.

While its current offer “is final and will not be increased,” the company “reserves the right to set aside the no increase statement if a competitive situation arises,” Sibanye said in a statement Monday. James Wellsted, a spokesman for the Westonaria-based miner, declined to comment further.

“If somebody comes in with a higher bid, they are saying they will increase the offer,” said Rene Hochreiter, an analyst at Noah Capital Markets Ltd. “The problem is I don’t see anybody coming in with a competitive bid.”

While the acquisition is key to the expansion strategy of Sibanye Chief Executive Officer Neal Froneman, the all-share deal has come under scrutiny as Lonmin returned to profit after years of losses. South Africa’s Public Investment Corp., which holds 30% of Lonmin, is troubled by the drop in Sibanye’s value since the deal was made public in December 2017, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Sibanye last month increased the share ratio it’s offering to Lonmin investors after metal prices rose, but the value of the deal remains lower than when it was first announced. The purchase needs the backing of 75% of Lonmin shareholders when they vote later this month.

      Opposing Deal

Sibanye shares climbed 1.2% as of 11:26 a.m. in Johannesburg, bringing this year’s gain to 15%. Lonmin fell 1.7%.

James McWilliams, an independent investor and former hedge fund manager who says he owns more than 1 million Lonmin shares, is urging fellow shareholders to block the transaction unless the offer is raised. Should the deal be approved, he plans a legal challenge.

“I am definitely voting against this deal and am prepared to follow my appraisal rights if necessary and take the matter court if a satisfactory offer is not achieved,” McWilliams said by phone. “Lonmin’s cash flow has improved significantly with the increase in platinum-group metal prices and shareholders have not enjoyed any of these benefits.”

Sibanye Says Platinum Mine Shaft Shut Until Official Inspection
      2.5.

...Sibanye Gold Ltd. was ordered to shut down the shaft at its Rustenburg platinum mine where 1,800 workers were trapped for as long as 10 hours on Tuesday after an accident with an underground transport system.

South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources issued a so-called Section 54 notice, barring the company from resuming operations at Thembelani shaft until a government mines inspector is satisfied that it’s safe to do so, said James Wellsted, a spokesman for Sibanye.

“We will not be producing today and depending on our engagement with the department, hopefully we will resume very soon,” Wellsted said. While there hasn’t been “significant damage” to the shaft’s underground hoist system, Sibanye must also get an independent expert to certify it’s safe to restart operations, he said.

Sibanye shares dropped 4.3 percent as of 10:10 a.m. in Johannesburg, paring this year’s gain to 28 percent...
