Viber will offer hundreds of millions of users a free three-month trial to its Spotify Premium subscription or up to 90% discount on the service depending on the region.
Catering to a global audience, Viber is dedicated to offering its users the best tools and features on the market. This commitment has led to a partnership with one of the world's leading audio streaming platforms. Through this partnership, Viber users will gain access to Spotify’s Premium music subscription, allowing them to enjoy an ad-free listening experience.
Viber holds a strong market share in the CEE and APAC regions, with penetration in some countries up to 98%. Spotify is leveraging Viber’s key markets to drive growth in these untapped regions.
“We’re really excited to be collaborating with Viber. They have a passionate community of users in markets where we’re looking to grow our platform. This offer will be available to Viber users in select countries across Europe, Middle East, and Asia. The eligible users in these countries* will be able to activate three months free of premium subscription. Eligible users in the Philippines and Vietnam**, will be offered an exclusive discount (up to 90%) to the premium feature. Users can activate the deal through a number of Viber in-app promo solutions: native and rich media Viber ads, banners on the “Explore” screen, in-app messages, posts on the official Viber local channels.
Countries included in this partnership are France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Slovakia, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Iraq, Philippines, and Vietnam.

The Japanese conglomerate’s wireless subsidiary plans to build its second major research centre in Canada, Rakuten Symphony CEO Tareq Amin said during The Logic’s virtual event on open radio access network (ORAN) technology. Rakuten Symphony is already working through the corporate sibling that bought the Canada-based Kobo e-reader company and maintains operations here, he said, but will incorporate a new company within weeks and is looking for developers. He didn’t specify how many, but said he expects to have about 30 per cent of the company’s R&D in North America.
