British outsourcing group Capita Plc received lower-than-expected final offers for its Education Software Solutions unit, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
The London-listed company in June put the division, whose platform SIMS is used by 21,000 schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, up for sale to secure at least 500 million pounds ($645.80 million).
Capita declined to comment on the Bloomberg report.
Shares of the company closed down 7.5% at 25.84 pence on Thursday and at that price the company has market capitalisation of about 432 million pounds.
Last month, a source told Reuters that European private equity house CVC Capital Partners was exploring a possible bid for the unit, adding the Capita had also reached out to other buyout funds.
According to Bloomberg, private equity firms Bain Capital and TPG, which had earlier been pursuing the unit, dropped out of the process and did not submit binding proposals by this week's deadline. (bloom.bg/3lMSIOo)

Hinzukommt mMn: im Kurs war vorher ganz offensichtlich viel zu viel Brexit-Euphorie drin. Und die ist nun komplett raus.

British outsourcer Capita shed more than a third of its market value on Thursday after saying it would have to spend an additional 170 million pounds to rebuild its business, hitting its 2020 cash forecast and debt pile.
The company also said it was exploring selling off non-core assets, the latest move by one of Britain's big service providers to shore up its finances.
Britain's outsourcing industry has been hit by a wave of cutbacks following rapid expansion. One of the world's biggest, it employs hundreds of thousands of people to clean offices, provide IT and HR services and maintain nuclear submarines.
Chief Executive Jon Lewis said transforming a company the size of Capita would take time but they were rebuilding trust with customers, improving margins and moving up the value chain in the outsourcing industry.
Shares in the 36-year-old company gained steadily during 2019 after Lewis launched a rights issue to rid it of risky contracts and invest in its services. But investors took fright on Thursday when it became apparent that any gains were still some way off, wiping 760 million pounds off its market value....

Wie man an 2018 sieht, ist nach so was übertriebene Kaufeile nicht nötig, wenn man eine längerfristige Perspektive hat.
Die Idee, warum das nun noch länger dauern wird mit einem Turnaround ist einfach mMn: wenn jetzt und in naher Zukunft Vermögenswerte verkauft werden, bekommt man halt nicht mehr so viel dafür und damit wird sich der Abbau des Schuldenberges hinziehen
--> ich denke, das ist es, was den Markt hier so stört

Ja, reizt mich irgendwie hier wieder einzusteigen. Ich dachte schon als ich bei 1,54 raus bin und der rasante Anstieg doch noch folgte, dass ich einen Fehler gemacht habe. Aber jetzt ist es ja surreal wie tief die Kurse sind. Aber eines hat mich Corona gelehrt - nicht zu schnell einsteigen. Vielleicht kann ja einer von euch was zu Capita sagen. Die Pressemitteilung hört sich ja nicht nach Konkurs an. Der heutige Kursverlauf ist ja demgegenüber dramatisch.
