CAMBRIDGE, Mass., and BASEL, Switzerland, May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (Nasdaq: VRTX) and Novartis Pharma AG today announced that they have formed an alliance to discover, develop, and commercialize small molecule drugs directed at targets in the kinase protein family. Over the course of the collaboration, Novartis could, subject to milestones and other conditions, make pre-commercial payments to Vertex of $800 million, based on the successful discovery and full development of eight compounds. The alliance creates a new operating model for pharmaceutical research and development, combining Vertex`s integrated parallel drug discovery approach in target families with the Novartis portfolio management system, with its emphasis on optimizing the early development phase of new compounds and promotion of selected compounds to rapid clinical development. This is the pharmaceutical industry`s most significant alliance to date in the discovery of new drugs based on targets uncovered by genomic and proteomic research.

More than 500 human kinases have been described in scientific literature, and specific kinases have been implicated in a wide range of diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory disease, and neurological disease. Vertex has pioneered the field of chemogenomics, which unites medicinal chemistry and molecular biology, to increase the pace and productivity of drug discovery directed at novel targets. Vertex`s drug design approach uses the structural similarity of targets in the same family, such as kinases, as a basis for parallel and simultaneous design of novel drugs, and this approach is a focus of the collaboration announced today.

Under the terms of the agreement, Novartis will provide Vertex with a $15 million initial payment and further research funding of $200 million over 6 years, and Vertex will have responsibility for drug discovery and clinical proof-of-concept testing of drug candidates. Novartis will have exclusive worldwide development, manufacturing and marketing rights to 8 clinically and commercially relevant drug candidates that it accepts for development from Vertex. Further license fees, milestone payments and reimbursements of $600 million or more are possible for Vertex subject to outcomes according to predefined criteria. Subject to certain conditions, Vertex will have co- promotion rights in the United States and Europe. The alliance between Novartis and Vertex is subject to Hart Scott Rodino clearance.

Hätte vielleicht einen besseren Titel wählen sollen z. B. Neuer Highflyer, Kurziel xyz oder 100 % in xxx Tagen.
Ist aus meiner Watchlist/Depot der einzige Biotechwert, der aktuell an der Nasdaq im Plus liegt! Hat eine sehr gute Produktpipeline. Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen sich den Wert einmal anzuschauen! http://www.vpharm.com/

damit einmal Dein Trauma mit den "Selbstgesprächen" endet, werde ich mal ein paar Zeilen reinschreiben...

Dein Thread wird jetzt garantiert mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet, da Vertex im Biotechreport als neue "Dausendprozentchance" angepriesen wurde - kann mir vorstellen, was irgendwann in den nächsten "Der Aktionär"-Ausgaben als Artikel kommt...
Die Pushchance ist zwar gleich null, da es sich um einen Amiwert handelt, aber auf Grund der Unternehmenslage könnten die Kulmbacher recht haben...

Ich bin seit März in Vertex investiert, und der aktuelle Höhenflug macht mir nach dem Tiefststand im April (40 Euro... ) richtig Spaß: 100 % Zuwachs seitdem ! Der Wert wurde seinerzeit in der BO empfohlen, und jetzt zahlt sich die Geduld aus.
Pharmawerte werden allgemein in Zukunft eine solide Grundinvestition sein. Bei Vertex heißt die Devise: Halten, auch wenn es heute oder Montag erstmal wieder etwas runter geht. Die aktuelle Tagesrallye, die durch die neuesten Zahlen aus USA herrühren, dürfte keinen dauerhaften Bestand haben.

Danke Sozzi, dass Du mein Trauma beendet hast! Man muß nur mal die Dausend erwähnen (goodi) und schon wird der Thread an einem Tag fast so oft gelesen wie meiner in drei Wochen. Schaun wir mal wo es hingeht. Die 90 hatten wir ja schon mal, aber ohne den Abschluß mit Novartis.

Da ich den Biotechreport nicht kenne würde ich gerne wissen, auf welchen Zeitraum sich die Dausend beziehen! Lese auch nicht den Aktionär und schaue so gut wie nie die 3-Sat Börse. Verpasse ich was?
Habe meine Empfehlungen aus dem Handelsblatt mit anschließender eigener Recherche. Bin damit bisher sehr gut gefahren.

Vertex wurde heute im spekulativen Musterdepot ( Aktionär ) aufgenommen. 400 Stk. zu 85 E .
In einer der nächsten Ausgaben, wird nochmal ausführlicher über Vertex berichtet.
Sonst hast Du nichts verpaßt.
Wo siehst Du das KZ von Vertex ?

Hallo Pfennigfuchs,

ich gebe kein Kursziel. Da ich eher technisch versiert bin und nicht aus der Biotechbrache kann ich die einzelnen Produkte von Vertex nur schwer bewerten (und somit ein Kursziel), da überlasse ich anderen das Feld. Hab zwar ne Vorstellung, aber die ist mehr aus dem Bauch raus als fundiert.
Was mich im Dezember dazu bewog in Veretex einzusteigen war halt die gut gefüllte Pipeline und der Fakt das Fonds in diesem Wert investiert sind. Bin in der Biotechbranche seit Juni letzten Jahres am Recherchieren.

wollt schon immer Lemmige haben, falls Du noch Unterstützung für Deine Entscheidung benötigst kannste ja mal Valentis anschauen! Die habe ich damals aus gleichen Gründen wie Vertex gekauft. Hatten letztens auch ein paar gute Ergebnisse, aber informiere Dich am besten selbst! Auch von Valentis wird hier kaum Notiz genommen.
