Vale announces shareholders remuneration
Rio de Janeiro, July 27th, 2023 – Vale SA (“Vale” or the “Company") informs that its Board of Directors
approved, on today’s date, the distribution of interest on capital in the total gross amount of R$
8,276,500,800.00, corresponding to a total gross amount of R$ 1.917008992 per share1, calculated
according to the balance sheet of June 30th, 2023.
The record date for payment of interest on capital to holders of shares issued by Vale and traded on
B3 will be August 11th, 2023, and to holders of American Depositary Receipts ("ADRs") traded on the
New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE") will be August 15th, 2023. Vale’s shares will start trading ex-
interest on capital on B3 and NYSE from August 14th, 2023.
Payment of interest on capital will take place on September 1st, 2023. Holders of ADRs will receive the
payment through Citibank N.A., the ADR depositary agent, as of September 11th, 2023.

Sweden’s H2 Green Steel lines up Vale, Rio Tinto for iron ore supply

Swedish metal and hydrogen company H2 Green Steel (H2GS) said on Wednesday it has signed multi-year deals with Rio Tinto and Vale for the supply of iron ore pellets from Canada and Brazil.

H2GS, which plans to build a low-carbon steel plant in Boden in northern Sweden and to start production in 2025, said the contracts with the two miners will help the company convince investors and lenders to commit to financing of its project.

The Swedish company will use a production process known as direct reduced iron (DRI) to cut CO2 emissions by up to 1,900 kilograms per tonne of finished steel compared to traditional blast furnaces, according to an H2GS spokesperson.

Vale loses bid to block BHP's London lawsuit in Brazil dam case

LONDON (Reuters) - Vale on Monday lost a bid to block fellow mining giant BHP Group's bid to have it share potential liability in a 36 billion-pound ($46 billion) London lawsuit over Brazil's worst environmental disaster.

BHP, which denies liability, applied in December to have Vale join the case and contribute to damages if they are found liable to the claimants.

The company argued that Vale should share in any potential liability because BHP Brasil and Vale both owned 50% of Samarco.

China Baowu wants new models of cooperation with Vale

BEIJING, Aug 3 (Reuters) - The world’s largest steelmaker China Baowu Steel Group Corporation has held talks with Brazilian iron ore miner Vale on potential opportunities for future cooperation, according to an update on its WeChat account on Thursday.

Hu Wangming, chairman of the group, held a face-to-face meeting with Eduardo Bartolomeo, Vale’s chief executive officer, at Baowu’s headquarter Shanghai.

Hu said Baowu and Vale need to explore new models of future cooperation to achieve sustainability in the steel value chain.

Both sides also discussed cooperation in investment in mineral resources as well as the research and development of the low-carbon metallurgical technology, it said without giving further details.
