ERNEUTE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG FÜR GUILFORD PHARMACEUTICALS (894167)

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich Guilford Pharmaceuticals schon einmal zum Kauf empfohlen, damals sah es an der Biotechfront noch gut aus, es war die Zeit vor dem Einbruch. Meine Einschätzung damals war zu optimistisch, ich habe mich von der positiven Stimmung am Markt beeinflussen lassen. Aber ich habe den Wert nicht verkauft, zur Erinnerung, mein Kaufkurs lag bei rund 36 Euro. Heute habe ich nachgelegt, zum Wert von 17 Euro. Und jetzt die Gründe, die für einen Einstieg sprechen:

Charttechnisch betrachtet sieht GLFD, so das amerikanische Börsenkürzel, sehr attraktiv aus, der Kurs bewegt sich auf einem massiven Boden, der schon seit Jahren besteht und vor kurzem erfolgreich getestet wurde, er liegt bei 14 Euro. Momentan sieht es ganz danach aus, als wenn sich eine neue Aufwärtsbewegung bilden würde. Aber was das wichtigste an dem ganzen ist, sind die steigenden Umsätze, denn ohne Umsätze ist eine Aufwärtsbewegung nur sehr schwach und kann jederzeit zusammenbrechen!

Zum Geschäftsfeld und zum Unternehmen selbst möchte ich nichts mehr schreiben, da sich jeder selbst informieren kann. Entweder auf der Homepage des Unternehmens selbst oder bei bei Diensten wie Yahoo! oder auch http://bigcharts.multexinvestor.com/

Da ich bei meinem letzten Kursziel für GLFD zu optimistisch war, werde ich jetzt konservativ bleiben und ein Kursziel von 20 Euro aussprechen, auf Sicht von 1 Monat. Wenn allerdings der 100Tage-Durchschnitt überwunden wird, dann sind 24 Euro auch drin. Was danach kommt, was man nicht!

Ihr habt euch bei www.onvista.de umgeschaut, dann schaut auch bei news vorbei, denn Guilford hat die Gliatech aufgekauft und desshalb hat sich der Wert bei 15,00 EUR gehalten.

Ich denke die Bodenbildung hätte bei 20,00 EUR ... , aber durch den kauf jetzt ... .

Aber von euch habe ich seit langem hier nichts mehr gelesen.

Ich warte auf deutsche News aus Quartalszahlen und vielleicht aus dem Medikamenten Phase III.

leider sind News in Deutsch nur schwer zu bekommen. In englischer Sprache könnte ich hier ganze Seiten vollposten, aber in Deutsch ist leider nichts zu machen, um den Artikel von WO werde ich mich gleich mal bemühen und in Zukunft gibt es auch wieder mehr von mir zu lesen!

Guilford kauft Gliatech



Bereits gestern meldete der Pharmaproduzent Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: GLFD), dass er den Hersteller von medizinischen Geräten Gliatech Inc. (Nasdaq: GLIA) für 203 Millionen Dollar in Aktien kaufen werden. Zweck ist die Expandierung der Produktpipeline.

Aktionäre von Gliatech erhalten 1,38 Aktien von Guilford pro Gliatech-Anteil. Gliatech hat im Moment 9,5 Millionen Aktien in freiem Umlauf. Die Boards of Directors beider Firmen haben der Fusion bereits zugestimmt. Die Aktionäre werden wahrscheinlich im 3. Quartal darüber abstimmen.

Das neue Unternehmen wird drei marktfähige Produkte besitzen, neun Kandidaten sind in der klinischen Entwicklung. In der Pipeline ist eine experimentelle Medizin für Nervensystemkrankheiten und Krebs. Guilford war vor allem an Gliatechs Adcon-Reihe interessiert. Dazu gehören verschiedene Gelsorten und Flüssigkeiten zur Hemmung chirurgisch bedingter Narbenbildung. Die Adcon-Serie hat allein in den USA ein Marktpotenzial von mehr als 1 Milliarde Dollar.

Auf die Übernahme reagierten die Analysten von Robert W. Baird allerdings prompt mit einer Herabstufung von „Strong buy“ auf „Markert Perform“.

Guilford läuft heute mit einem Plus von 0,44% über die Ticker, Gliatech notiert mit einem Plus von 0,33%.

P. S. GUILFORD nagt erst bei 15 - 16 USD fest. Die Übernahme belastet!
Weiter steigender IXBT (Bioindex) könnte einen Schub verschaffen. Ich glaube erst ab September 2000 mit Schub auf 25 USD! Bei weitere positive "nichtbelasteden" News könnten wir bis zu 30/33 USD kommen!

P. S. Bin selber schon seit 38 USD drin! Bleibe aber dabei und warte auf 1 Jahr! Steuerfrei!!

Jedenfalls belastet der Deal wohl den Kurs, aber wie gesagt, wen diese Belastung weg ist, dann könnte GLFD wohl zu einem Highflyer forcieren aufgrund der Produktpipelines von GLFD und GLIA bzw. der auf dem MArkt befindlichen Produkte

Genau IWA Japan, eine erneute Kaufempfehlung von mir, ich habe den Wert nämlich schon vor geraumer Zeit zum Kauf empfohlen!

Mal zum heutigen Tag, wir sahen nämlich niedrigere Kurse als am gestrigen Tag, der Schlußkurs lag bei rund 16,50 Euro, in den USA geht es auch leicht runter und zwar auf 15 3/8 USD.

GLFD ist zudem ein small-cap und daher nicht mit obigen großen Werten zu vergleichen, die stetig steigen.

GLFD hat jedenfalls das Potenzial, mal ganz groß rauszukommen, was ich an anderer Stelle ja auxch sachon sagte.

Wie lange wird die Bodenbildung eurer Meinung nach noch dauern? Der letzte Schlußkurs bei 16,70 Euro war keine Überraschung, wann wird aber der Durchbruch gelingen, denn genau an dieser Stelle beginnt die Neubildung eines Wiederstandes, denn wir gar nicht gebrauchen können!

Ich bin zu 15,00 und 16,00 EUR eingestiegen, und denke mir sehe bald die Marke von 25,00 EUR ohne das geringste Problem.

Vergleicht Die Guilford nur mit der Nanogen dann fängt ihr an zu lachen, und würdet vielleicht wie ich wieder nachkaufen.

und vor einigen Zeit habe ich bei den Analysten gelesen und stand 4
Analysten empfehlen die Guilford und jetzt sind es 7 Analysten.

Momentan liegen wir bei 16,10 Euro. Heute sieht es aber auch am Gesamtmarkt nicht allzu rosig aus! Mal sehen, wie die Nasdaq und der IXBT heute Abend stehen werden!

Wenn ihr euch die Kurse anschaut - warum dann die deutschen ? Da geht doch eh wenig um. Relevant sind nur die US - Kurse.
In US steht Guilford im Moment bei 15.5625.
Gliatech steht übrigens bei 20.9325. Müsste aber angesichts des Umtauschverhältnisses von 1.38 bei 21.48 stehen.
Der Unterschied ist zwar mittlerweile sehr klein geworden (vor 2 Wochen noch mehrere Prozent) - ein kleiner Vorteil ist es aber im Moment immer noch Gliatech statt Guiford zu kaufen und dann zu tauschen. Zumal Gliatech heute in Frankfurt für 21.4 - 6 zu haben war.

In New York lag der Schlußkurs bei $ 17, dies ist ein Plus von satten 1,5 USD! Der Schlußkurs in Deutschland lag bei etwa 17,70 €, eigentlich müsste er bei 17,90 € liegen, aber wir wollen mal nicht so kleinlich sein, Peanuts! Der Chart jedoch verrät mir, das wir heute einen sehr kurzfristigen Widerstand bei 16,60 € nach oben durchbrochen haben, liegen jetzt 7 % davon entfernt!

Ja Simonphrophet, mit dem Gedanken habe ich mich wirklich angefreundet! HA Mal ernst, der Kurs geht heute wieder nach oben, mittlerweile 18,15 €! Wie es scheint haben wir die Tiefstkurse bei GLFD jetzt gesehen. Ohne mich hier zu weit aus dem Fenster lehnen zu wollen glaube ich an ein zügiges Erreichen der 25 $ Marke. Wie diese Aktie überhaupt so tief fallen konnte ist mir ein Rätsel.
Man muß sich doch nur einmal die vollkommen überzeugende Produktpipeline anschauen, um zu erkennen, daß es sich hier um ein Unternehmen handelt, daß nicht erst in ferner Zukunft sondern schon sehr bald Gewinne erwirtschaften wird (Gliatech alleine schreibt übrigens schon schwarze Zahlen). Momentan werden 3 Präparate vermaktet, 9 weitere befinden sich in unterschiedlichen Entwicklungsphasen. Hier die Produktpipeline:


Commercial Platform:

(1) ADCON(R)-L Gel - a polymer gel approved for the inhibition of post-surgical scarring and adhesions following lumbar spine surgery. ADCON(R)-L is currently available in the U.S. and 28 international markets and is the only product to receive FDA market clearance for this use.

(2) GLIADEL(R) Wafer - a site-specific biopolymer-based chemotherapeutic approved to treat recurrent glioblastoma multiforme - a common form of malignant brain cancer. Since its approval by the FDA in 1996, GLIADEL(R) Wafer has received marketing authorizations in 21 countries.

(3) ADCON(R)-T/N Gel - a polymer gel approved for the inhibition of post- surgical scarring and adhesions following tendon and peripheral nerve surgery. ADCON(R)-T/N Gel is currently available in 28 international markets, excluding the United States.


Development Platform:

(1) GLIADEL(R) Wafer - for first line therapy of glioblastoma multiforme.
A Phase III clinical trial will be completed this summer.

(2) ADCON(R)-P - a biopolymer liquid to inhibit post-surgical scarring following pelvic and gynecological surgeries. ADCON(R)-P is currently in pivotal trials.

(3) ADCON(R)-A - a biopolymer liquid to inhibit post-surgical scarring following abdominal and colorectal surgeries. ADCON(R)-A has
completed patient enrollment in a pilot study and is expected to enter pivotal trials this year.

(4) PACLIMER(TM) Microspheres - a proprietary, site-specific biopolymer formulation of paclitaxel intended for the treatment of ovarian cancer. PACLIMER(TM) Microspheres is currently in Phase I clinical development.

(5) ADCON(R)-I (using ADCON(R)-L gel) - to inhibit adhesions following breast augmentation and reconstructive surgery. ADCON(R)-I has recently completed enrollment in a pilot clinical trial.

Neurological Platform
In addition to its biopolymer platform, the combined company will have four neurological products in various stages of clinical development. Products in the company`s neuroscience development pipeline will include:

(1) PERCEPTIN(TM) - a selective histamine H3 receptor antagonist being investigated as a novel treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Phase I studies have been completed and enrollment in a Phase II trial has begun.

(2) Neuroimmunophilin ligands - novel small molecules that are being
investigated for the promotion of nerve growth and repair.
Guilford`s development partner, Amgen, has recently completed Phase I studies with "NIL-A," the lead compound, and Guilford anticipates that Phase II development for Parkinson`s disease will begin this year.

(3) GPI-15715 - a novel pro-drug of propofol, currently the world`s best selling general anesthetic. GPI-15715 is a water soluble pro-drug of propofol that may avoid some of the side effects associated with propofol. GPI-15715 is currently in late stage preclinical
development.

(4) GPI-5693 - a small molecule NAALADase inhibitor developed to treat neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Clinical development is scheduled to begin later this year.

The combined company also has several neurological programs in its research pipeline. Its PARP and serine racemase programs aim to inhibit cell damage and death in acute and chronic neurodegenerative disorders including stroke, spinal cord trauma, Parkinson`s disease and inflammation. The combined company is also developing compounds based on the activity of inflammation-producing glial cells to slow or inhibit the progression of Alzheimer`s disease; H3 agonists for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia; inhibitors of glycine transporters for potential treatment in schizophrenia, and a monoclonal antibody that may be useful in inflammatory diseases.
Corporate partners include Amgen for development of neuroimmunophilin ligands and Aventis S.A. which markets GLIADEL(R) Wafer.

Wenn man bedenkt, daß alleine dem Präparat Adcon -L ein Marktpotential von 1 Milliarde $ zugetraut wird, dann ist die derzeitige Marktkapitalisierung der fusionierten Konzerne (ca. 600 Mio $ - aber nagelt mich bitte nicht drauf fest) doch nur als Witz zu bezeichnen. Andererseits eröffnet sich dadurch für uns Investoren eine meiner Meinung nach einmalige Gelegenheit mal so richtig Geld zu verdienen . Sollte der Kurs wider Erwarten noch mal in den Bereich von 15 $ zurückkommen werde ich nicht zögern und gnadenlos zukaufen obwohl ich eigentlich schon ganz gut investiert bin.

Yippie, endlich mal wieder handfeste gute Neuigkeiten bei Glfd!
Vleibt abzuwarten was nun passiert, die Glücklichen die bei 15 -17 € und/oder $ gekauft haben werden werden sicher nicht ewig warten, bis sie Ihre gewinne rauszioehen; dennoch eine wirklich erfreuliche Entwicklung..

Übrigens: unter www.nasdaq.com gibt es auch Kurse (Glfd, News und Analysteneinschätzungen.

CLEVELAND, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Gliatech Inc. (Nasdaq: GLIA - news) today announced an article entitled ``The use of ADCON®-T/N glycosaminoglycan gel in the revision of tethered scars.`` was published in the July 2000, volume 53, issue 5 of the British Journal of Plastic Surgery. Drs. D.E. Boyce, of Wordsley Hospital in the United Kingdom, and G. Bantick and M.S.C. Murison of Morriston Hospital, also in the United Kingdom, authored the article which contained detailed case reports of three patients who underwent reoperations for existing scarring from previous trauma and, in conjunction with surgical scar removal, were treated with ADCON®- T/N. In these three patients, there was improvement in patient outcome from previous problematic scar which was tethering adjacent tissues.
The first patient had undergone a tracheostomy to facilitate anesthesia during cardiac surgery four years previously. Subsequent to her surgery, her tracheostomy site healed but a contracted vertical band of scar resulted in difficulty in elevating her head and discomfort on swallowing. ADCON®- T/N gel was applied in a surgery where the old scar was freed by sharp dissection and excised. Two years post-operatively, the patient has no signs of recurrence of scar contractures and has no difficulty swallowing.
The second patient had also undergone a tracheostomy to facilitate ventilation as a result of an accident five years previously. As with the previous patient, scar tethered to the underlying trachea, which produced discomfort on swallowing due to elevation of the larynx. The patient underwent surgery where the scar was freed by sharp dissection and ADCON®- T/N gel was applied between the skin and trachea. The patient remains symptom free one year postoperatively.
The third patient had suffered a dog bite to the right facial cheek five years previously, which subsequently became infected. As a result, the patient experienced an unsightly area of facial disfigurement due to scar tethering the skin of the cheek to underlying structures, which was accentuated with smiling. During a reoperation, the old scar was excised and the subdermal tethering released, after which ADCON®- T/N gel was applied in the subcutaneous layer. The patient`s post-operative review at five months showed a well healed scar with no tethering on smiling, and one year post surgery, the patient remained free of subdermal tethering.
ADCON®-T/N is Gliatech`s second commercially available product designed to inhibit postsurgical scarring and adhesions following tendon and peripheral nerve surgeries. ADCON®-T/N received European Union (EU) regulatory approval for commercial distribution within the E.U. member countries in 1996, and is currently available in 28 countries outside of the U.S. The Company`s first commercially available product, ADCON®-L gel, is a similar product to ADCON®-T/N, and is approved to prevent scarring and adhesions following lumbar spine surgeries. Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker, Präsident der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), im ZEIT-Interview zum Umgang mit wissenschaftlichem Fehlverhalten

"Ächtung der Betroffenen in der scientific community, das ist das Schlimmste, was einem Wissenschaftler passieren kann."

Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker, Präsident der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinsschaft, äussert sich in der ZEIT zum Fall des Krebsforschers Friedhelm Herrmann, der nach einem kürzlich vorgestellten Bericht der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) fast hundert Arbeiten gefälscht haben soll. "Das Verfahren der DFG läuft noch, wir holen derzeit weitere Gutachten ein." Und: "Die Anhörung der Betroffenen wird noch im August sein, und ich hoffe, dass der Fall bis zum Herbst abgeschlossen ist." Auf die Frage, ob die anderen Ko-Autoren eine Mitverantwortung tragen, erwidert Winnacker: "In den Empfehlungen der DFG heißt es, dass alle Autoren einer Publikation auch dafür verantwortlich sind." Die bisher von den Universitäten noch nicht umgesetzten Empfehlungen sollten auf der nächsten Mitgliederversammlung der DFG für Ende 2002 für verbindlich erklärt werden.

Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker, Mitbegründer und Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der Firma MediGene, die vergangene Woche an die Börse ging, weist einen Interessenkonflikt weit von sich: "Nein, Interessenkonflikte müsste es dort geben, wo das Unternehmen MediGene mit der DFG irgendwie in Geschäfte eintritt. Aber erstens ist das nie passiert, und zweitens wüsste ich auch nicht, wo das passieren sollte." Und: "Die DFG ist in kein Forschungsvorhaben involviert, an dem MediGene-Forscher beteiligt sind, und das würde ich auch nie zulassen." Winnacker betonte, nicht selbst unternehmerisch tätig zu sein. "Ich sitze im Aufsichtsrat, aber ich bin kein Geschäftsführer. Das hielte ich absolut für unvereinbar."

Auf die Frage, ob wir uns in Deutschland vor amerikanischen Verhältnissen hüten sollten, entgegnet Winnacker: "Wir sollten Beschränkungen einführen und, wo nötig beispielsweise dafür sorgen, dass Professoren nicht direkt Unternehmer sind." Dennoch, so Winnacker weiter, sollte es für junge Forscher, die es ohnehin schwierig genug hätten, nicht zu viele Auflagen geben. "Das zarte Pflänzchen der Gen- und Biotechnik ist noch arg dünn, wir müssen aufpassen, dass wir es nicht zu früh mit allzu großer Regelungswut ersticken."

@Moorhuhn - mE kann man in jedem Falle noch einsteigen - das Potential der kombinierten Firma Guilford/Gliatech läßt noch erheblichen Spielraum nach oben - bedenke allerdings, daß es heute/morgen zu einer leichten Korrektur kommen kann (zum Schluß gestern in NY größere Verkaufsangebote) - ferner, daß du über Gliatech derzeit noch etwas billiger in die story kommst und daß in NY zu ordern angebrachter ist, da hier die Umsätze und die Schwankungsbreiten weit höher sind.

Die Frage kannst nur Du selber beantworten.
Hier meine persönliche Einschätzung: ganz klar kaufen und liegenlassen. Zu den Perspektiven wurde hier und in anderen Threads ja bereits einiges gesagt. Wenn die Fusion glatt über die Bühne geht -wovon ich ausgehe- dann haben wir es mit einem optimal positionierten Unternehmen in einem phantastischen Wachstumsmarkt zu tun. Ein noch relativ kleiner Biotech Wert wie GLFD ist natürlich immer auch eine riskante Sache, das sollte Dir klar sein.

In den letzten Tagen hat Guilford ja bereits ganz gut zugelegt, von daher könnte es heute oder morgen auch gut noch einmal zu einer Gegenbewegung kommen. Warte also ruhig noch mal den Trend in den USA ab. Ansonsten kannst Du auch sehr gut erst mal einen Teil (die Hälfte oder ein Drittel) Deiner angedachten Summe investieren und bei fallenden Kurse weiter zukaufen.

Wie gesagt, die Entscheidung liegt bei Dir.

Die Sturza-Brüder, eine rennomierte und konservative Analystentruppe haben als Kursziel für ein Jahr € 35 angegeben. Die Puplic offer ist nun bald abgeschlossen, somit denke ich, daß ein Einstieg durchaus noch lohnend ist.

Hier wurde schon gepostet, daß man sie besser über NY ordern sollte. Dem kann ich nur zustimmen, und daß es eben ein Langzeitinvestment ist. Dadurch, daß durch bereits 2 marktreife Medikamente aus dem Porfolio von Gliatech ein gewisser Basisprofit gesichert ist, überstehen die auch mal einen Rückschlag in der Entwicklung, die Pipeline ist top.

Taipan hat sie im Juli ins Musterdepot aufgenommen, und wenn du bei onvista.de mal GLFD eingibst und die Analystenratings abfragst, siehst du von 7 Analysten 7 mal strong buy.

Sag mal weißt Du, wann die Übernahme genau abgeschlossen sein soll, nach meinem Kenntnisstand müßte das in den nächsten Tagen der Fall sein?

Zu Entremed: klar bin ich noch dabei, habe sogar noch mal schön verbilligt. Gab in letzter Zeit einfach nicht viel Neues, dafür geht der Kurs immer weiter nach oben; und damit kann ich eigentlich gut leben .

CLEVELAND, May 30, 2000 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. will buy Gliatech Inc. for $203 million in stock, the biotech companies announced Tuesday.

Gliatech develops and makes gels to prevent surgical scars and adhesions under the ADCON brand name. The company also is involved in research for treatments for attention deficit hyperactive disorder and Alzheimer`s disease.

Guilford, based in Baltimore, is developing products for treatment of cancer, neurological diseases and spinal cord injuries. The combined company would have three marketed products and nine products in clinical development.

``This is an exciting opportunity to combine our strengths and expertise and create a stronger, product-focused organization with tremendous growth potential,`` said Craig Smith, Guilford`s president and chief executive.

Shareholders of Gliatech would receive 1.38 shares of Guilford for each share they own. Gliatech has about 9.5 million shares. The price is based on Guilford`s closing stock price Friday of $15.50.

Guilford Pharmaceuticals reported a loss of $26.9 million last year, or $1.31 per share, on sales of $21.6 million. Gliatech had a 1999 loss of $395,000, or 4 cents per share, on sales of $26.5 million.

The merger is subject to approval of shareholders and regulators. The companies expect to close the deal in the third quarter.

In trading Tuesday on the Nasdaq, Gliatech stock jumped $2.375 to close at $18.75, while Guilford`s shares were down $1.375 to $14.125.

The merged company would keep the Guilford Pharmaceuticals name and be based in Baltimore.

Smith would retain his position with the merged company. Thomas O. Oesterling, chairman and chief executive of Gliatech, would join the board.

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Guilford Pharmaceuticals said it agreed to buy Gliatech Inc. for about $21.40 a share or $207 million in stock.

The companies said Tuesday that the proposed merger combines their strengths in surgical materials designed to dissolve in the body, as well as their drug-development efforts.

Gliatech (GLIA: news, msgs) makes and sells absorbable medical devices of carbohydrate polymer designed to inhibit scarring and adhesions after surgery. The company`s Adcon products protect a patient`s internal tissues from scarring.

Guilford Pharmaceuticals (GLFD: news, msgs) develops therapeutic and diagnostic products to treat neurological diseases, as well as drug-delivery systems for treating cancer. The company`s first approved delivery system, Gliadel, is a medicinal wafer placed in the space left when a brain tumor is removed. It`s marketed in the U.S. and abroad by Rhone-Poulenc Rorer.

The company is working with Amgen (AMGN: news, msgs) to develop orally-administered drugs that regenerate nerve cells in people with spinal injuries, Alzheimer`s and other disorders. Human tests have begun with Parkinson`s disease patients. Guilford`s other neurological products include Dopascan, an intravenous solution being developed to diagnose Parkinson`s disease.



"From the perspective of both companies, it`s a good fit," said Eric Schmidt, an analyst at SG Cowen.

Shares of Gliatech rose 2 3/8 to 18 3/4 in recent trading, while Guilford stock was down 1 3/8 to 14 1/8.

"The strategic combination of our two companies will allow us to realize greater competitive advantages, achieve operational synergies and efficiencies, provide greater access to capital and create greater critical mass with which to pursue our corporate objectives," Craig Smith Guilford`s president and chief executive, said in a statement.

Prudential Vector Healthcare Group, a unit of Prudential Securities Incorporated, acted as financial advisor to Guilford, and SG Cowen Securities Corporation acted as financial advisor to Gliatech.

The merger is intended to qualify as a tax-free reorganization and will be accounted for as pooling of interests. The Boards of Directors of both companies have approved the merger.

Biopolymer Platform

The combined company`s portfolio will include three marketed biopolymer products and five biopolymer products in various stages of clinical development.

Commercial Platform:

(1) ADCON(R)-L Gel - a polymer gel approved for the inhibition of post-
surgical scarring and adhesions following lumbar spine surgery.
ADCON(R)-L is currently available in the U.S. and 28 international
markets and is the only product to receive FDA market clearance for
this use.

(2) GLIADEL(R) Wafer - a site-specific biopolymer-based chemotherapeutic
approved to treat recurrent glioblastoma multiforme - a common form
of malignant brain cancer.Since its approval by the FDA in 1996,
GLIADEL(R) Wafer has received marketing authorizations in 21
countries.

(3) ADCON(R)-T/N Gel - a polymer gel approved for the inhibition of post-
surgical scarring and adhesions following tendon and peripheral nerve
surgery. ADCON(R)-T/N Gel is currently available in 28 international
markets, excluding the United States.

Development Platform:

(1) GLIADEL(R) Wafer - for first line therapy of glioblastoma multiforme.
A Phase III clinical trial will be completed this summer.

(2) ADCON(R)-P - a biopolymer liquid to inhibit post-surgical scarring
following pelvic and gynecological surgeries. ADCON(R)-P is currently
in pivotal trials.

(3) ADCON(R)-A - a biopolymer liquid to inhibit post-surgical scarring
following abdominal and colorectal surgeries. ADCON(R)-A has
completed patient enrollment in a pilot study and is expected to
enter pivotal trials this year.

(4) PACLIMER(TM) Microspheres - a proprietary, site-specific biopolymer
formulation ofpaclitaxel intended for the treatment of ovarian
cancer. PACLIMER(TM) Microspheres is currently in Phase I clinical
development.

(5) ADCON(R)-I (using ADCON(R)-L gel) - to inhibit adhesions following
breast augmentation and reconstructive surgery. ADCON(R)-I has
recently completed enrollment in a pilot clinical trial.

Neurological Platform

In addition to its biopolymer platform, the combined company will have four neurological products in various stages of clinical development. Products in the company`s neuroscience development pipeline will include:

(1) PERCEPTIN(TM) - a selective histamine H3 receptor antagonist being
investigated as a novel treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder.Phase I studies have been completed and enrollment in a
Phase II trial has begun.

(2) Neuroimmunophilin ligands - novel small molecules that are being
investigated for the promotion of nerve growth and repair.
Guilford`s development partner, Amgen, has recently completed Phase I
studies with "NIL-A," the lead compound,and Guilford anticipates
that Phase II development for Parkinson`s disease will begin this
year.

(3) GPI-15715 - a novel pro-drug of propofol, currently the world`s best
selling general anesthetic.GPI-15715 is a water soluble pro-drug of
propofol that may avoid some of the side effects associated with
propofol.GPI-15715 is currently in late stage preclinical
development.

(4) GPI-5693 - a small molecule NAALADase inhibitor developed to treat
neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Clinical development is scheduled to begin later this year.

The combined company also has several neurological programs in its research pipeline. Its PARP and serine racemase programs aim to inhibit cell damage and death in acute and chronic neurodegenerative disorders including stroke, spinal cord trauma, Parkinson`s disease and inflammation. The combined company is also developing compounds based on the activity of inflammation-producing glial cells to slow or inhibit the progression of Alzheimer`s disease; H3 agonists for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia; inhibitors of glycine transporters for potential treatment in schizophrenia, and a monoclonal antibody that may be useful in inflammatory diseases.

Corporate partners include Amgen for development of neuroimmunophilin ligands and Aventis S.A. which markets GLIADEL(R) Wafer.

Was diese Vergleiche sollen? Ich wollte nur mal zeigen, wie GLFD im Vergleich zur Konkurrenz dasteht, ist das etwa auch schon verboten? Wird mir deswegen jetzt etwa auch schon mit rechtlichen Schritten gedroht!? GLFD hat in einem Report selbst diese Unternehmen als Unternehmen ihrer Branche ausgegeben, da kann man doch mal vergleichen!

Was hält ihr von meine Strategie, die ich euch jetzt nenne:

Die Guilford bei 40,00 EUR gekauft, durch die Blair und Clinton rede,
fallen die Kurse.
Bin mit z.B. 1.000,00 EUR eingestiegen.

Der Kurs von Guilford fällt weiter 35,00 EUR kaufe ich nochmal mit
der doppelten Summe plus etwas Spesen von zehn Prozent vieleicht etwas mehr.

Der Kurs fällt weiter auf 30,00 EUR dann nochmal kauf mit nochmal das
doppelte Summe plus etwas Spesen jetzt 4.500,00 EUR plus minus etwas.

Der Kurs fällt weiter auf 25,00 EUR nochmal kauf mit 10.000,00 EUR.
Der Kurs fällt weiter auf 20,00 EUR nochmal kauf mit 20.000,00 EUR.
Der Kurs fällt weiter auf 15,00 EUR nochmal kauf mit 50.000,00 EUR.

P.S.: Dies kann man nur mit großen Unternehmen machen! Vergesst es mit
kleinen es ist schwer wenn man keine Abnehmer hat.
Man braucht Geld dafür aber bei großen Unternehmen wie jetzt z.B.
Yahoo! hat es wunderbar geklappt!
Riesen Gewinne! Je mehr Das Unternehmen Gehandelt wird um so besser
klappt es. Denk darüber nach und schreibt.

Eines an Deiner Strategie ist etwas unrealistisch, denn jemand, der am Ende 50000 € reinsetzt, wird kaum mit 1000 € anfangen. Mal abgesehen von den Summen ist das eine gute Strategie, man braucht jedoch Geld und Geduld, zudem muss das Unternehmen diese Investitionen wert sein, denn wenn der Kurs irgendwann nicht mehr steigt, dann...

Aber ich habe eine bessere Strategie! Dazu mißbrauche ich einfach mal Dein Beispiel: Einfach mit 1000000 € bei 15 € rein und dann abwarten und bei 40 € wieder verkaufen, die Hälfte natürlich, dann den nächsten Teil bei 60 €, dann bei 80 €, bis nichts mehr da ist! Ist doch super, oder?

Am Anfang dieses Threads habe ich ein kurzfristiges Kursziel von 20 € angegeben, nun haben wir diese Marke erreicht und halten uns vorerst da! Momentan würde ich ein paar Tage abwarten, um zu sehen, ob diese Marke bestand hat, falls sich bestätigt, was ich vermute und sie hält, dann werden wir bald auch die 24 € sehen! kauft
- bis zu 50 Prozent mit einem Saftigen Gewinn (das was ich eingesteckt

Dies kann man sehr gut anwenden natürlich braucht man etwas Geld viel
Geld aber auch Zeit, ich habe mit 2.500,00 DM angefangen und war kurz
vor einem Nervenzusammenbruch.
Ich kaufe meine Guilford Aktien mit meinem Taschengeld und für langf.,
denn ich Denke und mein Gefühle sagt mir die Guilford wird die Aktie
des Jahrtausends.

Ich denke Maiestro die Guilford wird kurz nach unten gehen aber keine alte Tiefs sondern, wenn dann bei 18,00 EUR nicht Tiefer, wenn sie aber doch unter der 18,00 EUR landet für ein Biotech-Wert sehr schlecht ist denn dann können wir lange warten bis Sie wieder anfängt zu steigen, was heißt lange bis ende dieses Jahres und damit noch eins gesagt über die 100,00 EUR können wir lange Träumen.
Aber wenn sie sich hält und nicht unter der 18,00 EUR geht, dann besteht die Möglichkeit das Sie ende dieses Jahres über die 100,00 EUR
Marke landet.

Mein KZ für morgen: 20,50 €!

Warum ich jetzt mit Kurszielen um mich werfe? Weil der Schlußkurs aus NY dem Kursziel entspricht! Ist doch einfach, oder nicht? Aber mal ehrlich, heute gab es Gewinnmitnahmen, der Kurs stieg zunächst auf beinahe 21 €, um dann aufgrund von Verkäufen auf letzendlich 19,50 € zurückzufallen. Schade, damit haben wir die 20 € wieder unterschritten, heißt zwar nicht allzu viel, ist aber immerhin eine runde Zahle! Meines Erachtens nach sollte die Überwindung dieser allerdings auch in Zukunft kein Problem darstellen!

100 € ist ein schönes, aber hohes und zumindest etwas unrealistisches Ziel, in meinen Augen. Natürlich würde ich mich darüber freuen, am liebsten hätte ich morgen 10000 € bei GLFD, aber es geht nicht alles in Erfüllung....

Ich wäre schon froh würden wir dieses Jahr noch die 50er Marke sehen! Aber ich hoffe natürlich, dass Du Recht behälst!

Und zu all den tollen Fakten über Guilford und Gliatech erhält der geneigte Leser nun auch noch die einmalige Chance an der Anlagestrategie (?) eines Propheten teilzuhaben.

Mal ernsthaft: ich würde es begrüßen, wenn hier ein gewisses Niveau eingehalten werden könnte. Unterhaltet Euch doch bitte ernsthaft über die Aktie. Und wenn es dazu nichts zu sagen gibt, dann hat es doch auch keinen Sinn, sich hier irgendwas aus den Fingern zu saugen.

Eine einfache Frage: Wieso ist die Marke von 100,00 EUR nicht
möglich?

Wenn die Guilford sich hält und nicht unter der Marke von 18,00 EUR
geht und nicht unter der 19,00 EUR oder 20,00 EUR ist bis ende dieses
Jahres die 100,00 EUR möglich!
Natürlich genügt es wenn Sie in einigen Monaten oder Wochen die
50,00 EUR überschreitet, aber es ist möglich!

Wie groß ist die Nachfrage?

Wieviel Prozent der Aktien liegen im Besitzt der Beschäftigten?

etc.

Ich weiß nicht, ob Du etwas gegen Simonphrophet hast oder nicht, im Grunde ist es mir auch egal, aber er hat in diesem Thread noch nichts schlimmes getan oder gesagt. Er hat lediglich sein Kursziel genannt, seine Einschätzung, seine Meinung. Ich finde, dass das zu einer solchen Diskussion dazugehört! außer Markkapital. liet um 20 Prozent niedriger und hat 5,00 EUR
Reserven pro Aktie und ich denke durch denn Kauf von Gliatech durch
eigene Aktien sind diese 5,00 EUR geblieben dies kannst du auch bei
www.onvista.de Analysten. sehen.

Die Aktienanzahl liegt um doppelt plus 30 Prozent.
Gehandelt werden ganz wenige.

Gehandelt werden von Guilford ganz wenige und dazu kommt noch einzelne
Personen können den Kurs in die Höhe treiben, wenn Sie wollen und
auch etwas viel Geld übrig haben.

Von ca. 550 Millionen Dollar werden täglich ca. im Durchschnitt
5.000 bis 150.000 Aktien gehandelt und für ein Unternehmen ist es wenig!

Diese Menge beträgt in Prozent von 35 Millionen Aktien nicht mal ca.
ein viertel Prozent.

Wenn ich mir die Zahlen und Angaben mit anderen Unternehmen Vergleiche

ich habe nichts gegen Dich, Simonprophet oder sonst jemanden hier. Das habe ich aber auch weder direkt noch indirekt von mir gegeben.
Hier kann und soll jeder seine Meinung äußern, das ist das, was dieses Board interessant und zu einem kommunikativen Medium macht(von mir aus sogar: zu einem demokratischen M.).
In meinem letzten Posting habe ich lediglich höflich darum gebeten, diesen Thread nicht mit Nichtigkeiten anzufüllen. Das sollte kein großer Appell sondern mehr eine Anregung sein. Wie Du ja selber festgestellt hast, ist es doch viel schöner und für alle Beteiligten (inklusive der stummen Leser) angenehmer, wenn ein Thread nicht in stumpfsinniges Pushen abrutscht. Beispiele dafür sind im NM Board zuhauf zu finden. Von daher ist es mE eben auch mal sinnvoll, auf eine Meinungsäußerung, die bei näherer Betrachtung keinen wirklichen Inhalt hat, zu verzichten. Oder anders: manchmal ist weniger mehr. Das dazu.


Eine Empfehlung der DB habe ich nicht gefunden, ich kann mir aber sehr gut vorstellen, daß eine solche existiert. Vor einigen Wochen habe ich mich nämlich mit einem Bekannten von der DB unterhalten, der mir sagte, daß GLFD im hausinternen Research als klarer Kauf gesehen wird. Letztlich ist es ja auch nicht wirklich entscheidend, da eine Kaufempfehlung aus Deutschland dem Kurs in keinster Weise auf die Sprünge helfen kann. Aber immerhin ist es doch erfreulich zu wissen, daß die Aktie auch andernorts positiv eingeschätzt wird.

Ich habe mir nochmal die Marktkapitalisierung vorgenommen:

GLFD: 23,4 Mio. Aktien
Kurs: 19 $
Marktk. ca. 444,6 Mio

GLIA: 9,5 Mio Aktien
Kurs: 25
Marktk. ca. 237,5

Beide Unternehmen zusammengenommen kommen damit auf eine MK. von 682 $.

Sales im letzten Jahr:
GLIA: 26,7 Mio
GLFD: 22 Mio

zusammengenommen: 48,7 (mE ist in dabei in den nächsten Jahren mit einer erheblichen Steigerung zu rechnen, allein Adcon L wird ein Potential bis zu einer Milliarde $ zugetraut).
Bleiben wir aber einfach bei diesen Zahlen. Ich habe mal versucht, einige halbwegs vergleichbare Unternehmen herauszusuchen. Das kann natürlich nur zu einer bedingten Aussage führen, zeigt aber vielleicht doch die möglichen Chancen.

MK in Mia. / Umsatz in Mio

GLIA+GLFD: --- 0,7 / 49
Celgene: -- 3,8 / 80
Imclone: ------ 2,7 / 8
Myriad: --- 1,5 / 30
Protein DL - 3,56 / 80

Diese Reihe ließe sich noch weiterführen; je nachdem, welche Quellen benutzt werden, werden dabei auch etwas andere Ergebnisse möglich sein. Das Resultat dürfte aber im großen und ganzen das Gleiche bleiben.

Mein Fazit: setzt man MK und Umsatz in Beziehung, dann scheint die derzeitige MK von Guilford als deutlich zu niedrig. Oder wie seht Ihr das?

denke die GLFD hat nach dem Merger berechtigte Hoffnung über die Marke von 1 Mrd. US-$ zu kommen.

Nur kannst du sie IMO nicht mit Myriad oder Protein Design Labs vergleichen, die eben mehr in der neueren Basisentwicklung ( monoklonale Antikörper, Gentechnologie ) tätig sind, wogegen GLFD doch mehr im klassischen Biotech-bereich tätig ist.

Weiß eigentlich jemand, wie das mit dem nebenwirkungsfreien Narkosemittel ist, das GLFD engeblich in der Pipeline haben soll. Habs mal irgendwo vor langer Zeit gelesen, aber auch schon lange nichts mehr davon gehört. Auf deren Homepage ist zumindest nichts davon zu lesen.

Würde mich mal interessieren, ob da vielleich einer was weiß. Wäre gigantisch, wenn das so wäre.

Bei Morphosys oder anderen Biotech - Werte steht vermutlich verläßt
ein Medikament die Phase II und schon steigt der Kurs.
Bei uns verläßt gleich mehrere Medikamente die Phase II und eins sogar
Phase III und wird verkauft und der Kurs bewegt sich nicht auf die
Marke von 50,00 EUR.

The Need:
In the United States alone, more than five million people have been diagnosed with severe neurological disorders like Parkinson`s disease and Alzheimer`s disease. Despite the pervasiveness of these and other neurodegenerative illnesses, treatments are scarce and those therapies that are available principally treat only the symptoms of these disorders, while offering little in the way of actual disease modification. Although nerve regeneration appears to be one of the most promising scientific advancements on the horizon, there are no medicines yet available that can change the course of these debilitating and often fatal diseases.


The News:
Guilford Pharmaceuticals is pioneering a new approach in the search for novel therapies to address serious neurological disorders. In collaboration with its corporate and academic partners, Guilford is developing a new class of small molecules that have the potential to regenerate nerve cells damaged by disease and injury. These compounds, called FKBP-neuroimmunophilin ligands, may offer hope for the millions of people afflicted by neurodegenerative disease, by potentially slowing down, stopping or reversing the course of their illness.

FKBP-neuroimmunophilin ligands hold distinct advantages over earlier generation nerve regeneration agents because they appear to target only damaged nerve cells (earlier compounds promoted regrowth of both normal and damaged nerves); can be administered orally; and, are capable of penetrating the blood-brain barrier without direct injection into the brain.


The Background:
Guilford is a recognized pioneer in the rapidly emerging field of neurotrophic research, or the study of nerve regeneration. In 1990, scientists led by Dr. Solomon Snyder, Director, Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins Medical School and a co-founder of Guilford, discovered that an immunosuppressive drug called FK-506 was able to incite nerve growth in both test tube and animal experiments. Using state-of-the-art drug design techniques, Guilford`s scientific team synthesized a series of novel small molecule compounds possessing the nerve regeneration characteristics of FK-506 without any undesired immune suppression effects. This was the starting point for what is one of Guilford`s most promising technology platforms.


The Development Strategy:
Based on its growing body of knowledge and promising scientific research, Guilford partnered with Amgen, Inc., a leader in the biotechnology industry, to further advance its FKBP-neuroimmunophilin program. In 1997, Guilford granted Amgen worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and market FKBP-neuroimmunophilin ligands for up to 10 target indications, including Parkinson`s disease, Alzheimer`s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, peripheral neuropathies, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. In exchange, Guilford received an initial payment of $35 million ($15 million rights fee plus $20 million from the sale of common stock and 700,000 warrants exercisable at $35.15 per share until October 2000) plus $13.5 million in research funding over a three year period commencing October 1997. The agreement provides for up to $392 million in additional milestone payments as well as royalties from any future product sales -- based on successful development and regulatory approval of specific indications.


The Status:
Following experimentation with initial prototype compounds, Amgen optimized a lead second-generation FKBP-neuroimmunophilin ligand called NIL-A. Based on favorable preclinical results, Amgen has advanced NIL-A into Phase I clinical testing in healthy volunteers in Europe. The initial clinical indication will be Parkinson`s disease. In addition, the partners are working collaboratively to develop other FKBP-neuroimmunophilin compounds and are evaluating these compounds in a variety of preclinical models of degenerative diseases.

The Need:
Diabetic neuropathy is a debilitating and progressive disorder involving increased pain sensitivity, tingling, weakness and numbness in a patient`s extremities. It is believed to affect close to one million Americans yet there is no approved drug therapy to treat this disabling condition.


The News:
Through leading-edge neuroprotectant research, Guilford is developing novel small molecule enzyme inhibitors called NAALADase inhibitors that may provide hope for individuals with diabetic neuropathy and other disabling chronic or acute degenerative disorders.

NAALADase inhibitors work by providing protection against damage to human cells caused by a biochemical process that is common to many degenerative diseases. NAALADase inhibitors accomplish this by intervening at one of the earliest steps in this destructive process and selectively blocking a common neurotransmitter called glutamate.

Among their many advantages, NAALADase inhibitors block excessive glutamate release pre-synaptically, meaning before it is released into the synapse. Other approaches have focused on blocking glutamate after it has been released -- an approach which has been associated with significant side effects. Most important, NAALADase inhibitors appear to selectively reduce excessive glutamate while having no impact on normal glutamate functioning. Considering the importance of glutamate to brain function, this is extremely advantageous.


The Background:
NAALADase or N - Acetylated - Alpha - Linked - Acid - Dipeptidase is a membrane-bound enzyme found principally in the central and peripheral nervous system. During conditions of acute and chronic degeneration, NAALADase is believed to play a key role in promoting excessive glutamate release. Glutamate is one of the brain`s most common chemical messengers. Under normal conditions, glutamate is released into a microscopic space -- called the synapse -- that exists between neurons in the brain. There, it stimulates post-synaptic glutamate receptors, an action that is critical to such functions as learning, memory and motor control. However, during conditions of acute injury or chronic disease, there is a large increase in glutamate release that incites a cascade of biochemical events, ultimately leading to cell injury and death.


The Development Strategy:
With the goal of offering new treatment alternatives, Guilford is evaluating the use of its NAALADase inhibitors as protective therapies for chronic degenerative disorders. Guilford has created several unique classes of NAALDase inhibitors as a way to diversify its research and maximize potential therapeutic applications in peripheral neuropathy, chronic pain, schizophrenia, Lou Gehrig`s Disease, epilepsy, head and spinal cord trauma, stroke, Alzheimer`s disease and Parkinson`s disease.


The Status:
Guilford scientists have made rapid progress identifying and testing multiple chemical structural series of novel NAALADase inhibitors. The potential of these compounds to inhibit NAALADase activity and protect against neurodegeneration is considered to be excellent. In tissue culture and animal models of diabetic neuropathy, Guilford`s NAALADase inhibitors have been shown to normalize pain sensitivity, increase nerve conduction velocity and promote re-myelination of nerves (myelin is the insulation surrounding nerves that helps to facilitate nerve conduction). Guilford is presently focused on optimizing a lead compound that can be administered orally for use in chronic applications such as diabetic neuropathy, chronic pain and possibly, schizophrenia.

PARP INHIBITORS

Stroke and other acute and chronic degenerative disorders share a harmful biochemical chain reaction that leads to cell death. With the development of PARP inhibitors, Guilford is exploring a completely novel mechanism to reduce or prevent degeneration-induced cell death.


The Need:
Acute and chronic degenerative disorders such as stroke, heart attack, septic shock, diabetes, Alzheimer`s disease and Parkinson`s disease appear to be very dissimilar conditions. However, there is a common bond. Each involves a complex biochemical process that leads to injury, degeneration and death of human cells. Finding a way to minimize, interrupt or protect against this damage could have a major impact on reducing mortality rates and enhancing quality of life.


The News:
As part of its multifaceted neuroprotectant effort, Guilford has identified a novel mechanism to reduce or prevent degeneration-induced cell death. Guilford`s scientific founder, Dr. Solomon Snyder, Director of Neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins Medical School was among the first to demonstrate that the inhibition of PARP could provide robust protection against cellular degeneration. Based on this early discovery, Guilford has developed several different classes of novel small molecule PARP inhibitors. These proprietary compounds are now being studied to assess their ability to reduce or prevent degeneration-induced cell death in conditions like stroke, heart attack, arthritis, diabetes, and Parkinson`s disease.


The Background:
PARP, or Poly (ADP-ribose) Polymerase, is an enzyme found in the nucleus of all mammalian cells. Although its exact function is not clear, scientists believe it plays a role in repairing damaged cellular DNA. Once DNA damage has occurred, a cascade of biochemical events unfolds which activates PARP. If the damage is not severe, PARP is believed to facilitate DNA repair. However, during conditions of severe DNA damage, PARP becomes hyper-activated, consuming significant amounts of a cell`s energy. As a result, the cell`s energy reserves are rapidly depleted until it eventually runs out of energy and dies. Research has confirmed that the over-activation of PARP is implicated in a large number of acute and chronic degenerative disorders, including: head and spinal cord injuries, diabetes, septic shock, myocardial infarction (heart attack), arthritis, inflammation, multiple sclerosis, and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer`s, Huntington`s and Parkinson`s disease.


The Development Strategy:
Guilford`s multifaceted neuroprotectant programs focus on inhibiting the action of two enzymes, PARP and NAALADase. Both are being currently being evaluated as protective therapies for a wide variety of acute and chronic degenerative disorders. (While Guilford`s NAALADase inhibitors target one of the earliest steps in this biochemical cascade, PARP inhibitors intervene during one of the final stages of this process.) As part of its strategy to build a strong neuroprotectant franchise, Guilford has obtained a U.S. patent offering broad protection against the use of any PARP inhibitor for the prevention of glutamate neurotoxicity. In addition, Guilford has more than 20 U.S. patent applications and corresponding foreign filings relating to compositions and uses of its PARP neuroprotectant technology.


The Status:
Guilford scientists have made significant progress identifying and testing multiple chemical structural series of novel PARP inhibitors. The potential of these compounds to inhibit PARP activity and protect against cellular degeneration is considered to be excellent. In animal models of stroke, Guilford`s PARP inhibitors have demonstrated very robust protective effects. For example, at the highest dose tested, there was an 85% reduction in infarct volume (the extent of damage) compared to animals that did not receive treatment. Moreover, independent laboratory studies in "knock-out" mice -- animals genetically bred to completely lack PARP activity -- have corroborated Guilford`s findings. Experimental strokes show these animals have approximately 85 to 90% less brain damage than normal mice. Based on results such as these, Guilford is encouraged about the potential for its PARP inhibitors to offer protection and minimize the damage occurring as a result of stroke. Scientists in Guilford`s PARP program are now focused on identifying and selecting a lead compound with a strong commercial profile that can be advanced into phase I clinical trials.

GLIADEL® Wafer provides localized delivery of chemotherapy directly to the site of a brain cancer. In clinical trials, it has been shown to significantly prolong patient survival.


The Need:
Disease is often localized to a particular organ, region or system in the human body. It is surprising then that the vast majority of our drug therapies are delivered systemically, exposing not only the target organ, tissue or system, but the entire human body to the effects of the drug.


The News:
Guilford`s proprietary drug therapy, GLIADEL® Wafer, is changing the way brain cancer is treated, and giving new hope to patients with severe, life-threatening disease. GLIADEL® Wafer is not only the first new treatment to be approved for brain cancer in more than two decades, it is the first technology capable of delivering a chemotherapeutic agent directly to the site of a tumor. By providing localized delivery of up to 1,000 times more beneficial chemotherapy to a patient than standard methods of treatment, GLIADEL® Wafer complements other traditional brain cancer therapies -- while minimizing the serious side effects associated with traditional systemic chemotherapy.


The Background:
GLIADEL® Wafer is a small, white, dime-sized wafer made of a biodegradable polymer that contains the cancer chemotherapeutic drug, carmustine, or BCNU. Up to eight GLIADEL® Wafers are implanted in the cavity created when a brain tumor is surgically removed. There, they slowly erode over a period of 2 to 3 weeks, delivering BCNU directly to the tumor site in high concentrations. In clinical trials, GLIADEL® Wafer has been shown to significantly prolong patient survival. In one study involving 222 patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), one of the most common and fatal forms of brain cancer, GLIADEL® Wafer increased survival at six months by more than 50%. At six months, the survival rate with GLIADEL Wafer was 56% versus 36% for patients given a placebo. In a separate study, involving patients who received GLIADEL® Wafer at the time of their initial surgery, survival at one year was 63% for GLIADEL® Wafer compared to 19% for placebo.


The Development Strategy:
Consistent with its strategy of partnering with major multinational pharmaceutical companies to further the development and commercialization of later stage products, Guilford granted worldwide marketing rights (excluding Scandinavia and Japan) for GLIADEL® Wafer to Rhône-Poulenc Rorer (RPR) in 1996. Guilford has received more than $40 million in rights and milestone payments since then and is eligible to receive future milestone payments of up to $35 million. In addition, Guilford manufactures the product and receives 35-40% of net sales from RPR. Under a separate agreement, GLIADEL® Wafer is marketed in Scandinavia by Orion Farmos, a major Scandinavian healthcare company.


The Status:
First approved by the FDA in 1996 for use as an adjunct to surgery to prolong survival in patients with recurrent GBM, GLIADEL® Wafer is now approved for use in more than 21 countries. The goal is to make it available to more patients worldwide. Pending final pricing and labeling approvals in Europe, Guilford anticipates launching GLIADEL® Wafer in new international markets shortly. Additionally, Guilford and RPR have undertaken a multinational phase III clinical trial to assess the survival benefit of GLIADEL® Wafer when used at the time of initial surgery, with the objective of expanding the labeled indication for the product.

Using a proprietary class of biodegradable polymers called Polyphosphoester, or PPE Polymers, Guilford is continuing its efforts to pioneer new drug delivery products for the improved treatment of cancer. The first PPE biopolymer developed by Guilford is called PACLIMERTM Injection, a novel drug delivery product incorporating the blockbuster chemotherapeutic agent, paclitaxel. Paclitaxel is currently used to treat many forms of cancer, including ovarian, breast and lung cancer. A safer and more effective form of this blockbuster drug -- which has annual sales of more than $1.25 billion -- could have tremendous market potential and could potentially be used to treat many forms of cancer.

Now moving toward commercialization, PACLIMERTM Injection is being studied initially as a treatment for ovarian cancer. Unlike traditional chemotherapy, PACLIMERTM Injection offers an opportunity for site-specific and controlled delivery of paclitaxel with the potential to increase efficacy while minimizing harmful side effects. To achieve this, PACLIMERTM Injection incorporates paclitaxel in specially designed biodegradable polymer microspheres which can be suspended in fluid and injected into a patient`s abdominal cavity. Once administered, they slowly dissolve over an eight-week period to provide controlled and continuous delivery of paclitaxel directly at the tumor site.


The Background:
Guilford`s PPE polymers have many favorable characteristics, which make them ideal drug delivery vehicles. First, their flexibility allows them to be adapted to a wide range of physical formulations, including solids, gels, pastes, microspheres, liquids and films. This, in turn, may facilitate drug administration either by injection, laproscopy or during surgery. Moreover, preclinical research at Guilford has shown that PPE polymers can be used to deliver a wide range of drugs including, small molecules, proteins, peptides and even DNA. Finally, PPE polymers can be precisely engineered to deliver drugs over a specified time period ranging from days, weeks or even months, depending on the disease target.


The Development Strategy:
PACLIMERTM Injection is the second polymer-oncology product to be created by Guilford. GLIADEL® Wafer, the world`s first polymer-based, site specific chemotherapy, was developed by Guilford and is now approved for use in more than 21 countries. Both are part of the Company`s comprehensive drug development program that is dedicated to making site-specific medicines that minimize side effects and enhance efficacy.

The pursuit of a comprehensive intellectual property portfolio is an integral part of Guilford`s strategy to build a strong drug delivery franchise. Guilford holds exclusive rights to a patent that covers the use of paclitaxel for the treatment of solid tumors in controlled release formulations. In addition, each of Guilford`s PPE platforms is independently patent protected.


The Status:
In preclinical animal studies of ovarian and lung cancer, PACLIMERTM Injection has shown dramatic improvements in survival rates, with superior efficacy compared to conventional paclitaxel. Based on these encouraging results, Guilford is preparing to initiate clinical trials with PACLIMERTM Injection in ovarian cancer patients in early 2000. Concurrently, Guilford is studying the application of PACLIMERTM Injection in the treatment of several types of solid tumors, including ovarian, lung, breast, prostate and other cancers.

The Need:
DOPASCAN® Injection is a novel investigational diagnostic test for Parkinson`s disease. Currently, there are no diagnostic tests available which can differentiate Parkinson`s disease from other conditions such as essential tremor. Typically, a diagnosis is made based on clinical observation and Parkinson`s disease is often confused with other Parkinsonian-like conditions. In fact, it has been estimated that up 30% of patients presenting with Parkinsonian symptoms do not have Parkinson`s disease.


The News:
An effective diagnostic test for Parkinson`s Disease may enable an earlier and more accurate diagnosis of the disease. This could facilitate more appropriate decisions regarding drug therapy, and particularly earlier initiation of therapy with neuroprotective agents in confirmed cases of Parkinson`s Disease. It could also help avoid unnecessary drug therapy in non-Parkinson`s cases, thereby avoiding the costs and side effects of inappropriate drug use. DOPASCAN® Injection may also have potential to be used to monitor disease progression.


The Background:
DOPASCAN® Injection is a radiopharmaceutical imaging product. It is a tropane derivative which is radiolabeled with I-123. It is known more commonly in the scientific literature as I-123 ß-CIT, RTI-55, or GPI-200. Imaging is accomplished with conventional SPECT equipment. Over 2000 patients worldwide have been imaged with I-123 ß-CIT.

The mechanism of action of DOPASCAN® Injection is to bind to the dopamine transporter on presynaptic dopaminergic nerve terminals in the striatum (caudate nucleus and putamen) of the human brain. Neurons in the substantia nigra send projections into the striatum, and these decline in number in patients with Parkinson`s Disease. The uptake of the compound in the striatum is related to the number of surviving striatal dopaminergic nerve terminals. The resulting SPECT image provides an indication of the density of dopamine transporters in the caudate and putamen. Visually, the scan can be thought of as "lighting up" the striatum. Approximately 50% or more of the neurons are lost in the striatum before clinical symptoms of Parkinson`s Disease appear. DOPASCAN® Injection can detect dopaminergic neuronal loss in the striatum at early stages of Parkinson`s Disease.


The Status:
In 1997, Guilford completed a successful Phase IIB multi-center clinical study which demonstrated that DOPASCAN® Injection can differentiate subjects with a Parkinsonian disorder (Parkinson`s Disease and progressive supranuclear palsy) from subjects without a Parkinsonian disorder (essential tremor and healthy controls) with a high sensitivity (98%) and specificity (97%). No serious adverse events were attributed to DOPASCAN® Injection in this study.

Guilford entered into a corporate collaboration with Daiichi Radioisotope Laboratories (DRL) in December, 1995 for the commercialization of DOPASCAN® Injection in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. DRL plans to initiate a Phase III clinical trial of DOPASCAN® Injection in the second half of 2000.

Neuroimmunophilin Ligands – Parkinson’s Disease

Guilford has partnered the neuroimmunophilin program for nerve regeneration in neurological disorders with Amgen, Inc. Amgen is responsible for all clinical trials. This program includes the prototype compound GPI-1046 and the clinical lead compound, NIL-A. The initial disease target is Parkinson’s disease. Amgen has completed Phase I testing and Guilford anticipates that Phase II development will proceed in Parkinson’s patients in the second half of 2000.

PACLIMER™ Microspheres - Ovarian Cancer

In 1999, Guilford submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the FDA to commence human clinical testing of PACLIMER™ Microspheres, a proprietary site-specific formulation of paclitaxel (TAXOL®) intended for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

The Phase I clinical trial is a dose escalation safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic study of PACLIMER™ Microspheres in women with advanced ovarian cancer. The Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) will be conducting the trial and will enroll approximately 30 patients at 8 prominent cancer centers in the Unites States. The study will enroll women 21 years of age or older, who have recurrent or persistent ovarian and/or primary peritoneal carcinoma.

und die Guilford lag bei 36,00 EUR dann habe ich abgenommen und die
Guilford hatte zugelegt und jetzt vor einem Monat ca. plus minus ein
Paar Tage wog ich 96 Kilo und die Guilford lag bei 15,00 EUR
jetzt habe ich abgenommen und wiege 90 Kilo und die Guilford liegt bei
ca. 21,00 EUR.
Heute wiege ich etwas mehr und die Guilford etwas niedriger.
Wenn ich sehe ich nehme ab und die Guilford nimmt zu, indem ich 80 Kilos werde und die Guilford 40,00 EUR dann werde ich abnehmen wie ein
Verrückter im Augenblick sieht es so aus.

Leute ich denke ich werde bis einem Monat unter der 85 Kilos liegen und
die Guilford wird über die 25,00 EUR liegen!

The Company`s product sales were $7.0 million in the second quarter of 2000, compared to $7.9 million in the second quarter of 1999. The decrease in product sales was due primarily to lower sales of ADCON®-L in the U.S. As a result of the temporary import embargo of ADCON®-L in late 1999, the second quarter of 2000 represents the first full fiscal quarter of sales during 2000. Total revenues were $7.3 million in the second quarter of 2000, compared to $8.3 million in the second quarter of 1999.

Gliatech reported a net loss of $230,000 in the second quarter of 2000, compared to net income of $950,000 in the second quarter of 1999. The net loss per share was $.02 in the second quarter of 2000, compared to net income of $.09 per diluted share in the second quarter of 1999. The net loss for the second quarter of 2000 included approximately $590,000 in expenses related to the proposed merger with Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. Exclusive of these expenses, the Company would have reported net income of approximately $360,000, or $.04 per share for the second quarter of 2000.

On May 30, 2000, Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: GLFD - news) and Gliatech Inc. announced that they had entered into a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which Guilford will acquire all of the outstanding common stock of Gliatech for an exchange ratio of 1.38 shares of Guilford stock for one share of Gliatech stock, subject to satisfaction of certain closing conditions, including, among others, stockholder approval. The proposed transaction combines the capabilities of both companies in biopolymer development and the development of novel drugs for the treatment of central nervous system disorders. The combined company will have three marketed products and ten product candidates in various stages of development.

Gliatech also announced it has initiated patient enrollment and dosing in its Perceptin(TM) Phase II clinical trial for the treatment of adult patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Gliatech Inc. (GLIA) gab für das vergangene Quartal Produktverkäufe in Höhe von 7 Millionen US$
bekannt. In der Vergleichsperiode des Vorjahres konnte man noch Verkäufe in Höhe von 7,9 Millionen US$
vorweisen. Der Rückgang kann vor allem auf den Umsatzrückgang bei ADCON zurückgeführt werden. Der
Umsatz im letzten Quartal lag bei 7,3 Millionen US$ und damit ebenfalls deutlich unter dem
Vorjahresergebnis von 8,3 Millionen US$. Der Verlust lag bei 230.000,-- US$. Im Jahr zuvor lag dieser noch
bei 950.000,-- US$.

GLIATECH - MEDIKAMENT IN TESTSEFFEKTIV

Gliatech Inc. veröffentlichten heute die Ergebnisse von 190 mit ADCON durch geführten Operationen am Nervensystem des Menschen.

Mit den präsentierten Ergebnissen konnte eine alte Studie bewiesen werden, wonach ADCON keinerlei ich toxische Nebenwirkungen zeigt.
Post-Operativ konnte dem Medikament vor allem erfolgreich an Patienten eingesetzt werden, deren Komplikationen aus einer Fibrose herrühren.

Gliatech gehört zu den führenden Unternehmen bei der Suche und Entwicklung von therap. Produkten, die auf Glia-Zellen basieren und zur Behandlung von neurologischen Krankheiten dienen.

Schau dir bloß die Pipline von Guilford und Gliatech an.
Sagen wir bis 5 Jahre 10 Produkten auf dem Markt min..
Alle Produkte werden über 2 Milliarden EURO Umsatz machen, dies wären jetzt schon über das 5-fache.
Und ich habe pi mal daumen genommen.

warum es die letzten Monate so steil nach

Welche Zunkunftaussichten gibt es für GLFD

Ich denke mal, dass die aktie ein Langzeit-
investment ist und da ich noch eins suche
bin ich anscheinend fündig geworden.
Es wird oft über die veranschlagten Kursziele
gemäckert aber ich denke es ist ganz gut
wenn man mit einer Begründung ein realistisches
Kursziel gibt.

Bitte setzt mal ein Kursziel mit Begründung für

Wenn man sich den Chart anschaut würde man sagen es
sieht nicht gut aus, aber wieso sieht er so aus?

Ganz einfach, die Guilford lag über die 22,00 EUR
und dann hat die Guilford die Gliatech mit eigenen
Aktien gekauft so ist Sie weiter gefallen ich denke
sie hätte sich über die 22,00 EUR gehalten, wenn sie die
Gliatech nicht gekauft hätte.

Wenn man sich nun die Produktpipline von der Gliatech an-
schaut kann man den fall der Guilford nicht erklären, denn
sie hat auch ein Produkt auf dem Markt und viele in der
Pipline.

Aus dem www.nasdaq.com / News habe ich gelesen, das beide Firmen
zusammen drei Produkte auf dem Markt haben und viele ( ca. zehn)
Produkte in der Pipline stecken.
Eines von den sollte eigenlich diesen Sommer auf dem Markt kommen
aber wir hören erst ab dem achten August mehr News.

Sie wollen wissen wie es aussieht in ca drei Jahre!
In diese drei Jahre hat Guilford mit Hilfe von Gliatech ca. fünf
Produkte Garantiert auf dem Markt zusätzlich zu den was sie hat.
Auf fünf Jahre werden es zehn Produkte sein.
Ich rechne mit ca. fünzig bis hundert Millionen Euro im Jahr Umsatz
pro Produkt, dies wären nehmen wir den Durchschnitt von fünfundsiebzig
Millionen Euro mal fünf drei hundert und fünfundsiebzig.
75*5=375 Millionen Euro Umsatz minimum!
Und im Augenblick liegt sie bei ca.500 Millionen Euro Marktkapital
also wird sie locker hunder Prozent steigen!
Wenn es ihr schlecht geht.

Dies ist ein Beispiel wenn es ihr schlecht geht.

Was ich denke was passiert:
(habe ich aus Guilford Pharm. Prospekte aus der USA)!

Wenn das neue Medikament auf dem Markt kommt dieses Jahr noch können
wir mit anstatt noch ein paar cent im Minus ein paar cent im Plus liegen! Sowie Vertex!
Und in den nächsten drei Jahre kommen alle zehn Produkte auf dem
Markt mit einem Umsatz von ca. 1,5 Milliarden Euro (obwohl in den angaben steht nur für Guilford eine Milliarde und für Gliatech genauso viel.)
und außerdem haben diese Unternehmen noch andere Produkte in der Pipline die ich nicht aufgezählt habe mit Phase I / I a/b etc...

Fazit: Für die nächsten drei Jahre locker das dreifache Aktienwert
garantiert!
Aktuell 19,00 EUR in drei Jahre garantiert 60,00 EUR!
Meine eigene Schätzung bis ende dieses Jahres 50,00 EUR oder im
kommenden Sommer 50,00 EUR!
Je nach Kooperatione oder Forschungen würde ich sagen in drei Jahren
über die 100,00 EUR!
Und noch etwas in ein zwei oder drei Monaten kommt sie über die
25,00 EUR und hält sich über diese Markierungslinie von mir!

Ich persönlich habe investiert für mehrere Monaten ein Teil sogar
für ca. fünf Jahre und schätze sie liegt um das fünffache locker!

Guilford Announces Start of Phase II Study in Parkinson`s Disease and Receipt Of New Patent Covering Neuroimmunophilin Ligands
BALTIMORE, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Guilford Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: GLFD - news) announced today that its partner, Amgen Inc. (Nasdaq: AMGN - news), has commenced a Phase II clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of neuroimmunophilin ligands in the treatment of patients with Parkinson`s disease. Neuroimmunophilin ligands are orally-active drugs, which have been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier and may be useful for treating a variety of neurodegenerative disorders.

In 1990, scientists led by Dr. Solomon Snyder, Director of the Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins Medical School and a co-founder of Guilford, discovered that an immunosuppressive drug called FK-506 possessed neurotrophic activity and was able to induce nerve growth in both test tube and animal experiments.
