commitment and announced the appointment of a successor
München-Unterföhring, February 16, 2001 - The Chairman of the Supervisory Board
of EM.TV & Merchandising AG, Dr. Nickolaus Becker, has resigned from his office.
Becker said he did not want to burden EM.TV`s repositioning right from the
start after the Supervisory Board had approved the Kirch deal. In agreement with
major shareholder Thomas Haffa, he therefore decided to resign from his
position as Chairman of EM.TV`s Supervisory Board. Dr. Becker had headed the
company`s Supervisory Board since the foundation of EM.TV & Merchandising AG in
1997.
Board Chairman Thomas Haffa regretted that he had been unable to make Dr.Becker
change his mind. He thanked Dr. Becker for his extraordinary commitment and said
that he had always done a lot more for EM.TV and its shareholders than required
by his position as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. According to Thomas
Haffa, Dr. Becker`s resignation showed that the future of the company and its
shareholders was more important to him than clinging to his office. He said it
would be difficult to find a worthy successor.
