Company Biography
In the summer of 2002 a love of adventure united the founding partners of the Stowe, Vermont production company, High Angle Media, Inc., while on a ski-mountaineering trip at the southern tip of Argentine Patagonia. Since its inception, the team has grown to fill its offices in Stowe, Vermont; Lake Placid, NY; Steamboat Springs and Denver, CO.
Daniel Burgess: President and CEO, Summus Works, Inc. Raised on a dairy farm and self-employed since attending the University of New Hampshire, Dan’s entrepreneurial spirit has seen his involvement in multiple endeavors. Also a graduate of Anthony Robbins’ Mastery University, his credentials include:
• President, High Angle Media, Inc.
• Vice President, Skiershop, Inc.
• Partner, Backcountry Magazine
• Director, Synesi, Inc.
• Partner, Burgess & Clark Coffee Co.
Specializing in the conceptualization and organization of young businesses, Dan frequently consults, partners and coordinates the human resources necessary to successful companies. Dan helped to re-establish Stowe TV-10 as a result of the parallel interests among his existing companies within the winter sports industry. Now effectively owning and operating companies in the e-tail and retail businesses, as well as the print, and visual media, Dan’s vision of the interplay between these companies is essential, he believes, to the success of them all on a greater scale.
Adam DesLauriers: Production Director, Chief Cinematographer, High Angle Media, Inc.. Adam grew up at Bolton Valley Resort in Vermont, the ski area owned and operated by his parents. His two older brothers Rob and Eric were pioneers of the ski-mountaineering film genre during the 1990’s. After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1996, Adam and his brothers formed Straight Up Films – a production company committed to making documentary-style 16 mm films about skiing, snowboarding and mountaineering. During the following years, Adam delved into all facets of production while he and his brothers produced and distributed 5 feature length films. In addition to his involvement with Straight Up Films, Adam’s freelance production includes work for Warner Brothers, Warren Miller Entertainment, Outdoor Life Network, and American Adventure Productions. After achieving a 3.9 GPA in the graduate school of Journalism at CU Boulder, he shot and directed seven 1-hour episodes of Dan Egan’s Wild World of Winter for New England Sports Network before co-founding High Angle Media.
Ian Lamphere: VP, Summus Works, Inc. Born and raised in Vermont, Ian received his B.A. in English and Mathematics from the University of Vermont. After graduation in 1999, he accepted a teaching position in both disciplines at the Mount Mansfield Winter Academy in Stowe, Vermont where he also coached ski racing for the Mount Mansfield Ski Club. After co-founding NBS Productions, L.L.C. in 2002, he assumed public relations responsibilities by coordinating communications and marketing efforts for Skiershop Inc., and later Port City Coffee Roasters. An avid skier, outdoorsman, musician and writer, Ian co-created the nationally syndicated alpine adventure series Backcountry TV with cinematographer Adam DesLauriers in 2004.
Jamie Morris: Secretary, Summus Works, Inc.; Sales Manager, Stowe TV-10; Vice President, High Angle Media, Inc. His passion for winter sports, particularly skiing, has always fueled Jamie’s efforts throughout his pursuits. He spent his youth racing at the USSA and FIS level while attending The Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY and later St. Lawrence University. He concluded his race career with a quietus of his studies in order to travel North America. After two years of skiing and immersion in the industry, Jamie returned to school from Steamboat, Colorado with torn Anterior Carpal and Metacarpal Ligaments. Despite his injuries, he earned his B.S. in Business Management from Plattsburgh State University in 2002. After college, Jamie accepted a position in the Sales and Marketing department of Stowe Mountain Resort, where he remained until August of 2003. It was then he joined Stowe TV-10 and High Angle Media, bringing with him both knowledge of sales and business management, and invaluable experience in the winter sports and resort industries.
Justin Reyher: Director of Sales, High Angle Media; Senior Account Executive, Backcountry Magazine. He is also a board member of Height of Land Publications, owner of Backcountry magazine. He earned his B.A. in Communications from Roger Williams University in 1993 and gained experience in the publishing industry as a National Sales Representative of All Weather Publishing, owner of Skier and Outdoor Magazines. An avid outdoorsman, he has served on the Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol for nine years and on The Tuckerman Ravine Ski Patrol in New Hampshire for six spring ski seasons, working for the U.S. Forest Service. Summus Works, Inc. (Pink Sheets:SMMW) announced the Company has partnered with Real Digital Media for technology to initiate its V VV satellite affiliate program.
Real Digital Media is a leading provider of next generation digital signage technology products and integrated services for establishing point of purchase marketing, promotions and corporate communication networks. Their NEOCAST(R) products were selected due to their ease of use and a strong price to performance ratio.
"We are very pleased with Summus Works' selection of our NEOCAST(R) solution to achieve their network expansion goals," said Ken Goldberg, Chief Executive Officer at Real Digital Media. "This partnership is a result of outside the box thinking on their part to apply NEOCAST to a traditional broadcasting environment, and a testament to the flexibility of our narrowcasting architecture. We look forward to continued growth, and helping Summus Works achieve their business goals going forward."
The acquired technology will drastically facilitate the rapid expansion of the Company's cable broadcast subscriber base while enabling its cable affiliates to independently reach satellite locations beyond the immediate cable system in targeted, high traffic destinations.
Summus Works, Inc. (Pink Sheets:SMMW) is a multi-media holding company with interests in outdoor sports, retail, e-tail, print, web, television and film.
